How can you secure your company information with Azure Virtual Desktop? Richard talks to Jim Duffy about his work helping companies comply with NIST SP 800-171 security standards. These are the new standards required for Department of Defense contracting - including all subcontractors and suppliers. The security standard is thorough, with over 100 requirements. And you have to be audited to show that you comply! Even if you don't work with the government, the NIST security standard is excellent, and Jim talks about how you can use AVD to create a secure enclave for protecting data. Elon's Starlink has competition from Amazon They're using the rockets from founder Jeff Bezos' other company Blue Origin (along with others) to launch over 3,000 LEO (low earth orbit) satellites, aiming to bring internet to every corner of the earth. They'll be between 590 and 630 kilometres above earth. Amazon's project has successfully launched its first two prototype rockets a month ago, and this week announced they're fully operational and passed all their tests with flying colours. They were able to stream 4K video and do two-way video calls over the network. These satellites have a custom electric propulsion system designed and built in-house by Amazon. They say it's a way to safely maneuverer the satellites in space in an eco-friendly way. They expect to start service by the end of next year, and have half of their constellation operational by July 2026. There are 1000 people working on the project. Windows is now an app for iPhones, iPads, Macs What a bizarre sentence that is. Microsoft wants you to use Windows on whatever device you have! The Windows app allows business users to connect to virtual PCs, running Windows in the cloud -- combining an array of services already in market (Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Microsoft Dev Box, and Microsoft's Remote Desktop Services). They have plans to offer the same service to consumers too. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Am Anfang denkt man "Was stinkt hier so?

Run big unattended automation jobs across multiple VMs dynamically at scale, with the new Azure Virtual Desktop integration starter kit. Ashvini Sharma, from the Power Automate engineering team, joins host Jeremy Chapman to share recent updates to Power Automate such as the addition of dynamically, scalable unattended Robotic Process Automation (RPA). Power Automate flows can run in a virtual machine using an automation account, and that VM doesn't need to be constantly running. It can wake up, run your automation, and then stop on a schedule. Use the Azure Virtual Desktop integration starter kit to run large-scale automations and scale out the number of virtual machines to distribute your flows across multiple computers. Once the automation is complete, it can shut down your VMs, so you don't have to pay for idle compute. ► QUICK LINKS: 00:00 - Introduction 02:08 - How to build and scale out automation 05:00 - Directly parse information to a PDF doc 06:11 - Unattended RPA 08:18 - Scaling strategy with Azure Virtual Desktop 11:00 - Wrap up ► Link References: To learn more, check out https://www.PowerAutomate.com Watch our previous show on RPA with Power Automate at https://aka.ms/MechanicsRPA Find the Azure Virtual Desktop integration starter kit at https://aka.ms/AVDPA ► Unfamiliar with Microsoft Mechanics? It's 2022, how do you manage your client machines? Richard chats with Julie Andreacola about modern client management. Julie talks about how the pandemic accelerated the need for modern client technologies, including being able to provision and configure computers that will never be in the office. The conversation digs into Windows Autopilot and Microsoft Intune compared with more traditional deployment and configuration approaches. While the new approaches are broader and don't have as many detailed options as the old approaches, security is a key strength in modern client architecture - and that could be the key driver to change up your client management approach!Links:Microsoft FastTrackWindows AutopilotMicrosoft IntuneAzure AD Joined DevicesWindows 11DFCI on Surface DevicesDeploying Win32 Apps via IntuneWindows 365 Cloud PCAzure Virtual DesktopM365 Data Loss PreventionRecorded December 27, 2021

Yesterday at the Citrix Launchpad: Cloud event, we heard some exciting announcements around our App Delivery and Security Service, service continuity, Citrix's value-add benefits for Azure Virtual Desktop, and more. We also heard about two exciting new technologies that are currently in preview — Citrix Provisioning (PVS) on Azure and Citrix Image Portability.Citrix Image Portability service dramatically simplifies and streamlines the management of images across platforms, which facilitates managing images between an on-premises resource location and one in a public cloud, like Azure. Citrix Provisioning has been a beloved Citrix technology for over a decade. It's is a streaming technology that delivers OS images including applications, patches, updates, and other information to virtual and physical machines. PVS used to be a technology that was exclusive to on-prem customers. During the Citrix Launchpad: Cloud event, we announced PVS on public cloud, which is currently in preview.Host: Andy WhitesideCo-Host: Bill Sutton
As remote work continues to be the norm, Desktop-as-a service (DaaS) has become even more important to many companies. Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), previously known as Windows Virtual Desktop, is a platform for delivering virtual desktops and apps from the Azure public cloud. So, if a customer needed to deploy virtual desktops and already has an entitlement to AVD, why would they want to use Citrix as well? Just like customers for decades utilized Citrix on top of RDS, Citrix provides a lot of additional value to customers deploying Azure Virtual Desktop. In this episode of The Click-Down, we invite Allen Furmanski, Principal Product Marketing Manager, to discuss the benefits Citrix provides to Azure Virtual Desktop. We talk about things like hybrid multi-cloud, HA, and resiliency, as well as user experience. We also discuss cost and scalability as well as monitoring and analytics. Citrix provides many tangible benefits to Azure Virtual Desktop customers. What's the right way to have virtual desktops in the cloud? Richard talks to Aidan Finn about a virtualization project he was involved with that started with Citrix Cloud, which runs in Azure. Aidan talks about the number of virtual machines involved in a large-scale VDI implementation, many of which are infrastructure and plumbing. Why own the plumbing when you can get it as a service? The conversation then digs into Azure Virtual Desktop, which doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Citrix Cloud, but does simplify implementation a great deal. No virtualization implementation is ever simple, but working at the platform level can make it easier!Links:Citrix CloudRemote Desktop ServicesAzure Virtual DesktopPackerAzure MonitorAzure VM Image BuilderMSIXRecorded September 9, 2021
