"I'm not racist" [It's not 'black or white'] We're on a mission to help one million people RISE by 2030 - join the movement at www.myrise.co.uk I've had lots of interesting conversations with my wife Alex over the last year or so. To be honest, there hasn't been much else to do
So much comic book and movie goodness happened in April so I needed TWO guests to tackle it all. Listen to Matt and I's awful audio (had the wrong mic selected) and Troy's mildly racist undertones as we tackle Falcon and the Winter Solider, Invincible, Godzilla vs Kong, and Mortal Kombat. Stick around until the end to hear Troy take a massive piss, literally. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/n2p-podcast/support
This episode is a hard episode. Not many will listen to it. In fact, I bet you that this episode will get the LEAST amount of views. Because nobody wants to talk about this subject. Nobody wants to admit that they ARE racist. You may not be overtly racist, using the N-word, but you may have implicit bias. And here's the thing... you weren't born racist. I wasn't born racist. It's learned. And if we can learn it, we can UNLEARN it. This is an opportunity for you to step outside of your comfort zone and examine your life and change it. Becuase if you don't change it, you could unintentionally pass these biases onto your children. You could unintentionally show bias at work, or in your business. If we want to be on the right side of change, we have to do the work. I implore you. As I mentioned, I would share with you some resources to help you with this journey. #1 Documentary: WHITE RIGHT: MEETING THE ENEMY (click on link to watch) #2 Documentary: 13th (also available on Netflix) #3 YouTube series: Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man by Emmanuel Acho + his book #4 Podcast: Brene Brown "Unlocking Us" #5 Book: White Fragility - Why it's so hard for white people to talk about Racism by Robin DiAngelo “If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. From our many conversations with atheists, a pattern we've noticed is that one of the primary catalysts for a person accepting an atheistic world view is due to hypocrisy in the Church. Racism is a good example of this hypocrisy. Instead of leading the discussion, the Church as a whole has been relatively silent. From what we've been told, the silence is deafening. But I'm not racist! You may say... Listen for more. TaK Havoc and Miami Connection Take Havoc is a rapper with Alaska Roots and currently residing in Oregon, his most recent record is Kill The KKKlan, produced entirely by Dj Allegiance… currently it’s streaming across various platforms for both streaming and purchase…I’ve included links in the description. From Wikipedia starring Y.K. Kim, who also wrote and produced the feature. Originally, the film was critically maligned and received poor box office return upon release. It remained unseen for decades until Drafthouse Films restored the film for a proper release in 2012. The film was released on DVD, Blu-ray, limited-edition VHS, and various digital download options on December 11, 2012. Since then, the film has been better received by audiences and has garnered a cult following. Why our problem is systemic and must be overcome through humility, right thinking about ourselves
In the midst of a global pandemic and American chaos, we've again invited our good friend @diviene_russell to speak about the protesting that has been rooted decades before us. This massively relevant controversy, should resonate with our nation to collectively get us to a better place. The journey to a truly Topless mindset and an improved globe starts with each of us. Hold on until the end to experience this dual-sided and powerful song I'm Not Racist by artist @joynerlucas and see how he paints both extremes of the spectrum come together.

Week 2 of My Bad, "But I'm Not Racist" with Parker Dickerson. Sunday, May, 5, 2019.
After years of creating her fantasy graphic novel series, LeyLines, Robin Childs decided to abruptly end it. Why? "...it never occurred to me to write a fantasy world without slavery and patriarchy as the status quo." She realized that, without recognizing it, she'd created a fantasy world that reinforced themes of racism and sexism, and she was horrified to discover it. Robin and I discussed how she came to discover these themes in her work, and more importantly, what in society can cause us as artists to pass on messages that we don't intend to. This was a great conversation, in spite of the pinball machines being played in the background! :) Remember to check out Robin's new comic, Wavemen, which she makes with her husband Cory, and support it if you can! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2088273372/wavemen-the-house-on-fifth-avenue?ref=project_tweet

On this episode of Hanging with Apes K. Cartoon and Rx Phonics have a round-table discussion with fellow Audio Ape member, D.C. The Great, Jungle Studio's chief music engineer, Alex 'Excel' Cruz and Jungle Studio's videographer and music producer, Attila. The guys start the discussion by talking about the Audio Apes' upcoming project, "Till It Hurts." Naturally the discussion switches to Eminem's single "Untouchable" which tackles systematic racism, white privilege and crooked cops. The discussion leads to the comparison of Eminem's new single with the Joyner Lucas single, "I'm Not Racist." If Hip-Hop is a reflection of our society and culture what does that say about the future of the youth? Furthermore, the Hip-Hop culture has drastically changed due to its mass appeal and the guys analyze on whether or not there will be a "rap renaissance" that will bring the culture back to its roots of story telling and deeper substance.

In this weeks episode I discuss the recently viral video "I'm not racist" by Joyner Lucas. This video is throwback to the days of MTV/BET/VH1 when a music video was everything in the music industry. The visual is of a white guy with a #MAGA hat on sitting across from a young black man with dreads. They are essentially having a racial rap battle (insert Birdman hand rub)! A lot of folks we're extremely blown away and impressed by the video/song... However, the more I watch it and listen to the lyrics, the more cringeworthy it becomes. This song is the epitome of 'facebook deep.' Just shocking enough to go viral, yet shallow enough for me to swim in (I can't swim y'all)... Join me
Guess what's better than a monologue? Dialogue of course! Mondo joins me in an intense discussion about Joyner Lucas' "I'm not racist" video. We definitely don't see eye to eye on the matter, which made for a robust conversation to say the least. Get ya popcorn ready!

Ok, look. I know, I know. We've been gone a long time. And I'm sorry about that. I really am. We here at Avast! Ye Scoundrel (Me and Michael) value our listeners and feel just terrible that we have been gone so long with no explanation. But guess what? We're back. We. Are. Back. And we bring to you the weirdest episode ever recorded. This extra-long episode features entertainer/ comedian/ delightfully eccentric person Howie Walfish, who stops by the show to, uh, wow. Light racism? Walfishification! And more! Intro Song: “Damage” by CrumbSnatchers / CC BY-NC-ND Outro Song: “My Fair Lady” by David Byrne / CC Sampling+ Follow us on Twitter and Facebook @AvastCast
