One of the key disciplines I have leveraged and taught falls under a personal philosophy of mine: “Never waste an opportunity to learn” On February 21-23, Ontic, a leading platform for protective intelligence, is hosting a thought leader forum. It promises to be an inflection point for the organizational leaders who influence the policies, procedures, people, and tools around proactive risk management. We are talking about CSOs, CLOs, COOs, CFOs, and CEOs. Risk is now everyone's business because it impacts the reach and resilience of business which also impacts its brand. My discipline is to go over the agenda, research the speaker's backgrounds, research the subject, and then determine the questions I have on the subject matter. I must cultivate an inquiring mind by doing my own research or I become a consumer instead of an active listener. The good news is I asked a fellow attendee who is an executive with a risk management company to review our options with me. Chuck Randolph has been a senior director of threat intelligence and executive protection at Microsoft and is now Senior Director of Operations for an international risk advisory and executive protection firm called AT-RISK International. We have a great conversation around our potential learnings and the quality of the speakers and the topics.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion DE&I) is important for any industry, but especially for national security. For this episode of ClearedCast, Maxar Technologies executive and board member of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA), Tony Frazier, joins us to chat about DE&I this field. An intelligence community / DoD that looks the same, thinks the same, and comes from the same area will present some serious challenges in defense. It limits the United States’ ability to understand or engage with global challenges. A diverse community is better equipped to develop policies to counter global threats. Conscious Dancer with Mark Metz | Awakening your Body Intelligence
In one of our most inspiring interviews to date, Gay Hendricks shares his early fall into embodiment, and names some very interesting figures along the way, including Ram Dass fresh from his first trip to India, and Jack Downing a Rolfing pioneer. Plus he said I asked one of the best questions he's had in over 2,500 interviews, so I hope you'll agree, this is a special chat.
Conscious Dancer with Mark Metz | Awakening your Body Intelligence
This is a lively recap of the Body Intelligence Summit. We're both excited about the themes and throughlines that appeared and devoted most of this call to connecting the dots between the wide range of participants in the summit. Lamara and I produced the Body Intelligence Summit together with Gay & Katie Hendricks and the Shift Network and she'll be working with me on some episodes of this podcast.
Tawfik Hamid, an expert on Islamic terrorism, joined the Islamic group Muslim GI in Egypt, while in medical school. His colleagues in the terror movement included Al Zawaherri, then a friend with whom Tawfik used to pray, and now the number 2 person of Al Qaeda. Eventually Dr. Hamid questioned the feelings of hatred and impulses to violence that his participation in extremist Islam was fomenting within him. He became a physician, and also a scholar of Islamic texts. When he began to preach in Mosques to promote a message of peace instead of violence and hatred, he himself became a target of the Islamic extremists who had previously been his friends. They threatened his life, forcing him and his family to flee Egypt , and then Saudi Arabia . His appearance on Fox TV in early 2006 and his testimony at the first major Intelligence Summit in Washington have further established him as a leading authority on global terror movements. He explains why extremist Islam is far more prevalent and poses a far more serious threat than most Americans appreciate to our economy, ecology, and national security. In this discussion with D.J. Grothe, Tawfik Hamid discusses his experiences with extremist Islam and the Al Quada affiliated organization he joined, the question of moderate Islam and moderate Muslim organizations such as the Council on Islamic American Relations. He also explores the dire need for Islam to be reformed, and the recent CFI-sponsored Secular Islam Summit in St. Petersburg, Florida. Also in this episode, Ibn Warraq reads the Declaration from the Secular Islam Summit, which has received worldwide press and grassroots attention.

Social networking sites such as MySpace have recently been the target of XSS attacks, most notably the "samy is my hero" incident in late 2005. XSS affects a wide variety of sites and back end web technologies, but there are perhaps no more interesting targets than massively popular sites with viral user acquisition growth curves, which allow for exponential XSS worm propagation, as seen in samy's hack. Combine the power of reaching a wide and ever-widening audience with browser exploits (based on the most common browsers with such a broad "normal person" user base) that can affect more than just the browser as we saw with WMF, a insertion and infection method based on transparent XSS, and payloads which can themselves round-trip the exploit code back into the same or other vulnerable sites, and you have a self-healing distributed worm propagation platform with extremely accelerated infection vectors. We investigate the possibilities using MySpace and other popular sites as case studies, along with the potential posed by both WMF and The Metasploit Project's recently-released browser fuzzing tool, Hamachi, to own a site with self-replicating XSS containing a malicious browser-exploiting payload which itself will modify the browser to auto-exploit other sites, all transparent to the user. On top of this one could layer any additional functionality, some loud, some quiet, such as DDoS bots, keyloggers, other viral payloads, and more. Dan Moniz is a independent security consultant, and is also a member of The Shmoo Group, a world-recognized affiliation of information security professionals. Mr. Moniz has spoken at a number of conferences, including Defcon, ShmooCon, and The Intelligence Summit, in addition to private audiences at Fortune 50 companies and universities. In 2003 he testified in front of California State Senate in a hearing on the issues of RFID technology, privacy, and state legislation. In the past, he has held positions with a variety of high tech companies and organizations, including Alexa Internet (an Amazon.com company), Electronic Frontier Foundation, Cloudmark, OpenCola, and Viasec.
