A brasileira Bruna Moura está oficialmente classificada para os Jogos Olímpicos de Inverno de Milão-Cortina 2026 na categoria esqui cross-country, uma conquista que vai muito além do resultado esportivo. Quatro anos depois de sofrer um grave acidente na Itália, às vésperas da Olimpíada de Pequim 2022, a atleta retorna ao mesmo cenário olímpico como símbolo de superação física, psicológica e emocional, representando o Brasil em uma das modalidades mais exigentes do esporte mundial. Luciana Quaresma, de Milão para a RFI “Eu não sei se sou capaz de descrever como eu vivo esse momento. Para mim, é algo surreal. Estou vivendo novamente o sonho de ouvir meu nome ser anunciado para a equipe olímpica”, afirma Bruna, ainda cautelosa com a comemoração. “Eu quero comemorar de verdade quando cruzar a linha de chegada nos Jogos”, afirma. Em janeiro de 2022, durante um período de treinos na Itália, Bruna sofreu um acidente de carro grave, poucos dias após sair da quarentena por Covid-19. O impacto foi profundo. As lembranças do episódio são fragmentadas. “Tenho no máximo 30 minutos de memória de todo o processo”, revela, mas as consequências permanecem. “O acidente faz parte da minha vida. Eu penso nele todos os dias. A dor no pé é diária, não tem como esquecer”, relata. “Eu precisei aprender a viver com isso, integrar essa dor à minha rotina e seguir em frente”, conta Bruna Moura. A recuperação física permitiu o retorno às competições pouco mais de um ano depois, no Mundial da Eslovênia, mas a reabilitação psicológica exigiu um trabalho ainda mais delicado. Bruna enfrentou sintomas de estresse pós-traumático e passou por sessões intensivas de terapia, incluindo EMDR (tipo de terapia para processar traumas), para lidar com memórias auditivas recorrentes das sirenes da ambulância e da polícia. “A terapia funcionou. Hoje eu lido muito melhor com isso, mas o trauma ainda vem comigo. Tudo o que faço tem um pedaço dessa experiência.” Adaptação como chave para a classificação Se o acidente impôs limites, também exigiu reinvenção. Com restrições no pé, Bruna precisou adaptar radicalmente sua preparação física, apostando no double pole, técnica que privilegia a força da parte superior do corpo. “O motivo não foi positivo, mas o resultado foi. Esse ganho de potência foi decisivo para os pontos que conquistei no ranking e para a classificação olímpica”, explica. A vaga para Milano-Cortina veio justamente pelo ranking internacional, em uma disputa direta e emocionalmente complexa com Jaqueline Mourão, a atleta mais experiente e respeitada do esqui cross-country brasileiro — e uma figura central na própria trajetória de Bruna. “Foi estranho e difícil. Ela é minha amiga, minha referência, a maior atleta da história do esporte no Brasil. Eu queria muito que ela estivesse nesses Jogos também”. Da mountain bike ao esqui A relação de Bruna com o esqui cross-country começou graças à própria Jaqueline Mourão, ainda em 2010, quando Bruna era atleta de mountain bike. Selecionada para um projeto de desenvolvimento em Minas Gerais, ela se destacou nacionalmente, mas viu sua carreira interrompida por um problema cardíaco congênito, que exigia uma cirurgia complexa. Sem recursos financeiros, foi novamente Jaqueline quem viabilizou o acesso ao tratamento, por meio de instituições médicas em São Paulo. Durante esse período de afastamento das competições, Bruna teve o primeiro contato com o roller ski, em atividades promovidas pela Confederação Brasileira de Desportos na Neve (CBDN). “Mesmo quando eu não podia competir, eles me incluíram. Aquilo me ajudou muito num momento de depressão”, lembra. Em 2014, Bruna passou a integrar oficialmente a equipe brasileira de esqui cross-country e biatlo — um caminho longo, construído com paciência, resiliência e adaptação. O sonho olímpico como missão pessoal Para Bruna Moura, estar nos Jogos de Milano-Cortina tem um significado especial, construído ao longo de anos de luta e resiliência. “Eu sei que será difícil conquistar um resultado expressivo, porque estarei competindo contra as melhores atletas do mundo. O meu objetivo sempre foi alcançar o sonho de me tornar uma atleta olímpica e competir no meu melhor nível, porque isso vai muito além do resultado final”, diz Bruna Moura. A promessa feita a si mesma ainda no hospital, após o acidente, agora está prestes a se cumprir. “Desde que recuperei a consciência, eu dizia: eu vou para os Jogos de 2026. E trabalhei em tudo — treino, nutrição, descanso, hidratação — para chegar aqui.” Milão-Cortina 2026: redenção e liberdade Ao imaginar o momento da estreia olímpica, Bruna fala em redenção. “Quando eu cruzar a linha de chegada, ver meu nome na tela, a bandeira do Brasil ao lado… eu não sei como meu coração vai reagir. Vai ser liberdade. Liberdade de viver algo que por tantos anos foi só um sonho.” Em um esporte dominado por países tradicionais e com pouca estrutura no Brasil, a presença de Bruna Moura em Milão-Cortina 2026 carrega um simbolismo poderoso: o de que persistência, adaptação e coragem podem transformar até os caminhos mais improváveis em realidade olímpica. *Errata: o acidente de Bruna Moura foi em janeiro de 2022, e não em setembro de 2021 como escrito anteriormente.

Aos 6 anos a Jaqueline foi abandonada e entregue para adoção em uma igreja. Sem casa e sem amor, ela foi adotada, mas sofria agressões e vivia com medo. Ela foi devolvida e chegou a passar por várias casas durante a sua vida, mas nunca encontrou o seu lar. Morar na rua e abandonar tudo era um pensamento constante, mas uma coisa nunca sumiu do seu rosto, o sorriso. Mais velha ela reencontrou o seu pai biológico e ressignifico a sua vida através do amor. Jaqueline superou tudo e lançou um livro defendendo a adoção com responsabilidade, opreparo das famílias e o amorverdadeiro como compromisso.

Jaqueline Torres-Garcia was a 12-year-old girl whose body was found outside an abandoned New Britain home earlier this fall. Police shared that the little girl was murdered last year. Following the publication of Baroness Louise Casey's highly critical report into grooming gangs involved in the sexual exploitation of children, we look at one of her 12 recommendations in detail. The Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, has committed to reviewing the criminal convictions of victims of child sexual exploitation, quashing the criminal records of victims who were “criminalised instead of protected”. Nuala McGovern speaks to Jade, who as a teenager was charged with a grooming offence and is trying to get that conviction overturned. Nuala also hears from Paula Harriott, the CEO of the charity Unlock. Students will spend an average of 25 years on their phones over their lifetime. The average person in school, college or university spends five hours and 30 minutes a day on their mobile, according to a new study by the app, Fluid Focus. Last year Ofcom found that across all adult age groups, women are spending more time online – that's on smartphones, tablets and computers – than men - clocking up an extra 33 minutes more each day. Nuala speaks to Sunday Times journalist Charlotte Ivers about her phone use. More than half of Heart Valve Disease (HVD) cases are women, yet less than half of heart valve surgeries and procedures are on women, according to new data from the charity Heart Valve Voice. Heart valve disease is when one or more of your heart valves do not work like they should. This can affect blood flow and put extra strain on the heart. How can women's symptoms be taken more seriously? Nuala is joined by cardiologist Dr Alison Duncan and HVD patient Jaqueline, who was initially misdiagnosed with anxiety.Three years on since the war with Russia began, more and more young women are choosing to leave the country to continue their lives in Europe, either studying or working. Young men have been banned from leaving Ukraine after they turn 18 since the war broke out and martial law was introduced, but young women are free to leave.
