I Shouldn't Say This, But … this podcast has taught my more than I could have ever imagined. And this episode is going to be my last. At least for a while. When I started the podcast 4 years ago, I couldn't have imagined the journey it would take me on, the conversations it would generate or the relationships it would help me foster. Steven Bartlett had tasked me with creating a brand for myself, and I was determined to give it purpose beyond simply being a KPI. As I sat down to record this episode, I knew that goal had been achieved. So I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane. And I hope it gives you an insight into why I do this, and I what I want to do next. As always, thank you for listening.

This episode was inspired by a quote by another podcaster Katy Leeson, and it reads, “We need to stop glamorizing over-working. Please. The absence of sleep, good diet, exercise, relaxation, and time with friends and family isn't something to be applauded. Too many people wear their burnouts as a badge of honour. And it needs to change.” Well we got fired up, inspired, and we had to dive in! Get ready for some unconventional, possibly cancellable ideas :)! Why does hard work trigger some people? And yet when we don't share about our hard work people think we're slacking? And what is hard work really? Plus what is the actual measurement of hard work? Oh and how do sins play into it? Let's be honest, most of us tend to proclaim to our friends that “social media is evil” at least once a week. But what if it's not? And what if the very way we look at social media is flawed? Those are some of the questions I tackle with today's guest, Katy Leeson, Managing Director of Social Chain UK and host of the stellar podcast, I Shouldn't Say This, But. Within her podcast, Katy does a brilliant job at showcasing the remarkable experiences that can come from stepping out of our comfort zones, all while never sugar coating anything. She consistently gets real about her experiences with imposter syndrome, therapy, and the realities of navigating the professional world as a woman. Within our chat, she talks me through the experiences that lead her to where she is today and the empowering feeling that comes from taking the reins of your mental health. Be sure to follow Katy on all socials after our chat, especially so you don't miss out on a new season of I Shouldn't Say This, But.
**Heads up that there's a mention of miscarriage in this episode** Katy Leeson's got a big job. She's managing director of Social Chain the social media marketing agency founded by Steven Bartlett. It helps the big brands (huge like Coke, Amazon, KFC, Uber) to create content that cuts through the noise and gets noticed. Even though putting her own face out there and creating a personal brand doesn't come naturally, she's now on a mission to change what leadership looks like. She uses her platform to educate young people about using social media in a healthy way, to encourage us all to de-gloss our posts and show up in a more real and vulnerable way. The feedback from season one was that people got more value from the personal episodes and wanted to hear more, so I’ve started season two with something very personal that happened to me but also something that affects a lot of people. This taboo subject is rarely talked about in public but it’s my wish that if by sharing my experience it can help just one person, then it’s worth it. _______Katy Leeson, the Managing Director of Social Chain is launching a podcast titled 'I Shouldn't Say This, But...'. In the season finale I sit down with the reason I do a podcast at all, my therapist. Karen has helped me so much over the last year or so and I can’t wait for her to help every listener too. She discusses in detail the answers to the most common questions therapist are asked, why we should all be a bit anxious and how to balance stress at work. This podcast is full of value and any listener will find 5-7 things you’ll be able to take away and instantly start to implement in your life, it’s seriously that good! Karen is the perfect end to an incredible first series of the podcast. I hope you enjoy and I will see you all again in the middle of October.
