Rules of Recitation of the Noble Quran (Ibn al-Jazari d. 833/1429)
"At this particular moment, am I in alignment with, am I in resonance with my values, with what I stand for, with what my heart beats for?" Migena Gjerazi In this special compilation episode, I revisit conversations from Episodes 100 to 200, to bring together moments from conversations to explore how choice isn't always obvious, but it's always there. Awareness opens the door. Articulation gives it form. And action, aligned action, carries it forward. You'll hear different voices and perspectives, but the thread remains the same: we are more powerful than we realise when we give ourselves permission to see, to speak and to step. This episode is a celebration of that. Of the messy, hopeful and courageous work of being human and of choosing to continue moving towards what feels true for us. Product and engineering love to blame each other—but the best teams skip the turf war and figure out how to move forward together. In this episode, Rina talks with Guy Gershoni, Head of Engineering at genesIT, about what makes that partnership work (and what breaks it). From lean experiments to shared metrics to real talk about trust, this one's packed with hard-earned lessons from someone who's seen both the chaos and the magic. Key Topics Discussed in This Episode Why engineers care more about impact than frameworks Turns out, engineers don't want to ship shiny features. They want to ship useful ones. The key is making the impact visible. Experiments that don't waste time (or careers) Guy shares a dead-simple way to test new ideas without overinvesting—or getting stuck in analysis paralysis. The MAC Model: A cheat code for fixing team dynamics Mindset, Articulation, Capability. If your team is off-track, this framework can tell you exactly where things are breaking down. Why Listen to This Episode? In this episode, you'll get: Real advice on how product and engineering can stop talking past each other A new way to think about experimentation (it's not about frameworks) Tactics to make success metrics a shared responsibility A refreshingly honest take on what actually builds team trust If you're navigating cross-functional tension or just want to collaborate better, this one's worth your time. Flute 360 | Episode 302: "Just Drink the Pickle Juice!" In Episode 302, Dr. Heidi Kay Begay shares a personal and powerful lesson about embracing temporary discomfort for long-term benefits. Using her own experience with muscle cramps and the surprising remedy of pickle juice, she draws an analogy to overcoming challenges in flute playing and career development. Whether it's tackling difficult repertoire or advancing your flute business, Dr. Heidi encourages listeners to face short-term discomfort head-on, knowing it will propel them towards long-term success. Main Points: Facing Temporary Discomfort for Long-Term Growth: Dr. Heidi recounts her struggle with muscle cramps and how drinking pickle juice, despite her aversion, was the key to overcoming them. She relates this to how avoiding difficult tasks in flute practice or career-building can hold you back. Pickle Juice as an Analogy: Just like the quick discomfort of drinking pickle juice, stepping outside of your comfort zone, whether in flute playing or business, is temporary but leads to major growth. Avoiding Short-Term Pain Leads to Long-Term Stagnation: Are you avoiding the "pickle juice" in your life? Whether it's practicing double-tonguing exercises or learning new business skills, confronting temporary challenges leads to long-term rewards. Small Efforts Lead to Big Results: Sometimes, the task you're avoiding is much smaller and more manageable than you think. Just as Dr. Heidi learned that only a tablespoon of pickle juice was necessary, the efforts required to make significant progress may not be as overwhelming as they seem. In this episode, Lisa and Jaime discuss:How to prevent unplanned future transfers for your teen. What a “planned transfer” is, when it might make sense, and when it won't work.Common reasons why over ⅓ of undergraduate students transfer. Articulation agreements between colleges that can benefit transfers. Key Takeaways: More than ⅓ of undergraduate students transfer at some point. It should not be a hush-hush topic. Transferring is not shameful. Planning to start at a community college should not be stigmatized. Amazing community colleges exist, and their successful graduates do amazing things in our communities. If your student's only reasons for transferring are social, consider other options within their current school first. Transferring will not usually solve the problem, but changing roommates or joining clubs might. When applying to school, your student is not looking for a school they can get into; they are also looking for a school they can graduate from with a degree—that's the ultimate goal. Reach out to admissions offices and transfer specialists. Your student should ask questions and do their research. “If you have a student who's not really sure what they want to study, it is much cheaper to explore different options and different kinds of majors at a community college than it is to go all in at a four-year university on a major you're not sure about and then have to pivot later.” – Jaime SmithAbout Jaime Smith: Jaime Smith, M.A., MS.Ed., is a Certified Educational Planner with 25 years of experience in the field of education.
