I am 100% against scripting. Don't script your sales pitch, introductory presentations, conversations. Period. Why? Because if you think about it, how much of YOUR life is scripted? Yet so many teams feel the only way to teach a product, communicate with prospects, or develop a relationship is with a strictly adhered to script. We're making a big announcement about our own training team, in this week's episode and it has to do with tossing out your scripts, increasing your sales potential and forging your path to greatness. We welcome back writer, producer, and actress, Keisha Zollar for new insights and tips to unlock your full potential.
Have you ever watched an improv performance and wondered, how do they come up with things so quickly? Or, how do they all know what to do at the same time? The answer is letting go of control and increasing mind agility. In our inaugural episode, we'll speak with Keisha Zollar, an improv artist, actress, writer and producer who connects improv to business success! Oh, and as a heads up, she's NOT here to teach you how to be funny! Intrigued? Take a listen!

Gender identity has become another one of those issues that many people are afraid to talk about--if you're a decent person, you don't want to be lumped in with the ugly, hateful talking points of the far-right, but you may also not feel comfortable with how to feel about some of our rapidly changing cultural norms. Leave it to Joe to tackle this issue head on this week, as he dialogs with friend, actress, writer and comedian Keisha Zollar.

Out the gate, our show gets down to the real. Shonali & Christian break it down regarding snuggle buddies during covid, cult leaders and unique social distancing philosophies. The description "Hobbit Ball" was invented in this discussion. Our first guest is John Feal, inspirational activist and founder of The Feal Good Foundation. He was a 9/11 responder and is responsible for enacting 13 pieces of legislation which provides & protect the healthcare of 9/11 and first responders injured and/or currently sick caused by their heroic work. He has partnered with Jon Stewart for years doing this work and they are currently working to pass legislation to provide healthcare for veterans sickened by their work near burn pits. The best description of why John is so successful is that he calls bullshit when he sees it. You must follow him on Twitter @JohnFeal1 (The Real John Feal) to witness this. He was suspended on Twitter for a few days because he is so real. There's so much important here to listen to but takeaways are "America needs a break," "Help a stranger," "Everyone can get involved." Special announcement! We are hosting our own WDEK Election Day Special livestream on Nov. 3rd with special guests from across the country including David Cross, Tash Neal, Jon Glaser, Negin Farsad, John Early and many more. Our final guest is writer, comedian, actress Keisha Zollar. She is the founder of the first UCB all black sketch comedy group, The Astronomy Club which also got its own Netflix series. She has spent the better part of the pandemic in her time working in her studio apartment which she shares with her husband and her dogs, Johnny Cash (just passed away), Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams Sr. Listen to find out what gives Keisha hope these days and how she fulfills the notion of being authentic. Check out her work currently on the reboot of the British satirical television puppet show, Spitting Image and she's working with Lilly Singh on her upcoming special! Stay strong all and catch us on our Election Day Marathon Special on Nov. 3rd on YouTube Live or Facebook Live here.

Tasmania’s own Hannah Gadsby stopped stand-up comedy in its tracks with her multi award winning show, Nanette, which played to sold out houses in Australia, the UK and New York. Its launch on Netflix, and subsequent Emmy win, took Nanette (and Hannah) to the world. Hannah’s difficult second album (which was also her eleventh solo show) was named Douglas after her dog. Hannah walked Douglas around the world, selling out the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Opera House in Sydney and the Kennedy Center in DC, a sit down run in New York and shows across the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Douglas was an Emmy nominated smash hit, moving beyond the trauma at the centre of Nanette and instead letting the world see the view from Hannah’s brain – one that sees the world differently but with breathtaking clarity. The show covered Hannah’s autism diagnosis, cleared up some confusion regarding a penguin, lectured some great masters, and saw the patriarchy needled with various levels of vigour. Douglas is available throughout the world on Netflix, recorded in Los Angeles. Hannah has done plenty of other things over the course of more than a decade in comedy, but that will do for now. Lisa Renee Pitts is an actress with many credits to her name. Her off-Broadway and Regional Theater credits include The Father (Pasadena Playhouse) starring Alfred Molina, Tiny Beautiful Things and Doubt (Portland Center Stage / Critics Circle Award) A Raisin in the Sun (Virginia Stage Company / NAACP Theater Award Nominee), Intimate Apparel (San Diego Rep / Critics Circle Award), and more. On Broadway she appeared in the Tony nominated play Sweat by Lynn Nottage. On film and television she’s taken on roles and projects like Dr. Dre’s mother, Verna, in Straight Outta Compton (Dir. F. Gary Gray) True to the Game 1 & 2 (Dirs. Preston Whitmore & Jamal Hill); Baselines (Dir Nate Parker) XX (Dir. Karyn Kusama); and Her (Dir. Spike Jones). And up next, Lisa will appear in Stephen King's "The Stand" based on his best selling novel starring Whoopi Goldberg.
