We had to restart recording twice, so there are a couple gaps in recording, but hopefully things move smoothly other than that. J.C. comes on to talk about her book, Don't Fear the Reaper (Now I really want to listen to the song!) and it sounds amazing! She markets it as dark fantasy dystopia, which is pretty much my bookish love language. I can't wait to grab my own copy and read it. It's book one in a trilogy, but she's releasing a novella on Amazon that's part of the story as well. I hope you grab it! If you're reading this before May 31, 2024, it's not out yet, but afterward? Head to Amazon now! I recommended a couple books to J.C., including the Shadow Demons Saga, which of course included my story about how salty I am about book 12. GRRRRR. I really need book 12, and I'm SO mad I can't read it yet! I also recommended Let Him In, by William Friend, which I was about halfway through at the time of recording. I've since finished and reviewed on my blog. You can find that review here. Overall, we pretty much talked about everything under the sun. J.C. called it an ADHD party before we hit record, and I gotta say it was an accurate description. We had plenty of laughter and tons of deep talks, though, so I know you'll have a great time. Adaptations: 2007 Northanger Abbey TV miniseries featuring Felicity Jones Persuasion (1:11:36): In her final work, we follow Austen's oldest protagonist (27, gasp!) Anne Elliot, who had forsaken her love of Frederick Wentworth years ago after pressure from her family about his status. The reader explores the power of love, of self-advocacy, and not bending to societal pressure while rooting enthusiastically for Anne and Wentworth alike. They will inspire you, but even more than inspiring you, they will lead you to think: What's my purpose and how should I be living it out? So often, we compartmentalize life. For example, we wear our Mom & Dad hats, our Adult Child hat, our Professional hat, our Friend hat, and then our Sunday-go-to-church hat. Although each of those roles are different, we are the same person. And if we are Christians, our Christianity must be lived out in every area of our lives. Our core values and beliefs – our lights – should shine so bright that the whole world will see and, someday soon, the whole world will know. Until the whole world does know, let's join together, shine His light, and Let Him In.
