Psalm 96,Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth!2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens.6 Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.7 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts!9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns! Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity.”11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it;12 let the field exult, and everything in it!Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy13 before the Lord, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in his faithfulness. You were made to worship God. That is true of every single human being that has ever existed. If you're here and you're a human, you were made for worship. Look around, most of us in this room would say that we were made for worship — so here's a question: What is worship? What is the meaning of true worship? You don't need to answer this out loud, but imagine for a minute that you're having a conversation with a friend or a co-worker — if they asked you to explain the meaning of worship, what would you say?See I wonder if worship might be the most important calling in our lives that we know the least about. So that's our topic this morning. We're gonna focus on the meaning of true worship because that's what Psalm 96 is all about. And I think we discover here at least two truths about what true worship is, and I can't wait to show you, but first let's pray again.Father in heaven, we recognize that there are countless things that could get in the way of our hearing you this morning. There are countless things inside us and outside us that would block our hearts from receiving what you have for us, and so right now, I ask that you would triumph over all those things. I ask that you break through every barrier to magnify your glory in the preaching of your word. In Jesus's name, amen. Here's the first truth we discover about true worship:1. True Worship is a vertical response to the greatness of God. In Psalm 96, there are 18 verbs spread across 12 verses and they're all about worship. Just listen to the verbs: It's … Sing, sing, singBless, tell, declareAscribe, ascribe, ascribeBring, worship, trembleSay, be glad, rejoice, Roar, exult, sing! This is most of the psalm. Now none of these verbs by themselves are true worship because you can sing, tell, and ascribe anything to anybody — and people do — so what makes this true worship, at the start, is that all of this is directed to God. And this makes sense. If it's true worship, of course, it must be to God, about God, and also because of God.This last part is really important. See, in the context of all these directives to worship God in Psalm 96, the psalmist grounds that worship in who God has revealed himself to be.We see this in verses 4–6 and in verse 13. And I want you to see it with me beginning in verse 4. Following the “For” in FourSo everybody find verse 4. This will be super easy. I want you to find the verse 4 and the word “for” — it's the very first word of the verse. Find verse 4, word “for” — if you see it, say Got it.Verses 1–3 has been sing, sing, sing, bless, tell, declare — here's why: 4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Skip to verse 12: Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy 13 before the Lord, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. Our worship of God is because of God — this means that worship is a response. Now think about this: a response is something that comes second. It doesn't happen unless something else happens first. It's like answering your phone — you answer your phone after it rings. Most people still answer their phone after it rings. But what nobody does is just pick up their phone at random and say ‘hello' — if you did that we'd be concerned. You answer your phone in response to the ring.Worship is kind of like that — it's not an original act. It's a secondary act — we can only worship God because he first has shown us who he is. Without him doing that, we'd still be in the dark. We're not smart enough or good enough to worship God on our own. True worship is vertical in direction and vertical in source. God first has to tell us who he is — and he has through his world and his word. This is God's grace to us.The Greatness of God DisplayedAnd in his word, Psalm 96, we see the revelation of his greatness. We can see the word “great” in verse 4 — the Lord, Yahweh, is great and therefore he is worthy of our praise. And then we see that his greatness is demonstrated in two facts about him. Here they are: God is Creator and God is Judge. Now where am I getting that? …God Is CreatorFor Creator, we see it in verse 5. The psalmist does a little comparative religion here. He says:“The gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but Yahweh made the heavens.”And that's why Yahweh is greater. See, back in the day — which has been most of human history before the last 300 years — people were much more aware of how enchanted our world is. People recognized little-g gods everywhere — tribal deities, geographic deities, all of that. The world is still as spiritual today as it was then, but people saw it then. They were awake to it. And that's what makes verse 5 so amazing. The psalmist was well aware of the competing deities of his day, and he calls them all “worthless idols.” He is radically unimpressed by them. They're pathetic. They're useless. They're powerless. But, in contrast, Yahweh made the heavens.Your ‘little-g' god is a block of wood, while Yahweh is the one who spoke trees into existence. See the difference? Yahweh is greater. He's the Creator. Now, in our day, in our society, most non-Christians are not bowing down to carved statues — some do, most don't — but our world is still full of idols. There are still countless things that people honor in the place of God. And there are dark spiritual forces at work here. The big three for a long time has been money, sex, and power. These are gods in America.I had a conversation yesterday with a neighbor — a great guy — we were talking and he said he wasn't religious and I explained to him that everybody is religious. Everybody has some god, the question is who. I told him the gods of our day, for a lot of people, are money, sex, and power and he was like totally. It made sense to him. And if we're honest, none of us are oblivious to their seduction…If I could just get more money, how much better life would be! …If I could just have a romantic relationship, then I'd be satisfied …If I could just get my way all the time, everything would be great …These are the idols of our day, and like the psalmist here, we should be passionately clear that God is greater than all of them. They will not deliver what they promise. And what we'll find if we chase these things is one dead-end road after the other. But Yahweh made the heavens! Yahweh is behind and before everything that is. Yahweh is greater, he's the Creator!God Is JudgeBut not only that, Yahweh is also the Judge. That's the concluding fact in verse 13:“The Lord [Yahweh], for he comes. For he comes to judge the earth.”You ever heard that before?God is going judge this world. We learn more about this judgment in the New Testament. It's carried out by God the Son, Jesus Christ. Paul says in Acts 17:31 that God has “fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed [that's Jesus]” 2 Corinthians 5:10, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ…” One day, every human being will stand in front of Jesus and be judged by him. We don't think about this a lot, but the Day is coming. I remember the first time I met my friend Ray. He visited our church for the first time, and I was talking with him after the service, and he told me he wanted to be baptized and get plugged into the church because, he said, “Jesus is coming back to judge the world.” True story. That's what he said. He's right. God will judge the world. And that's why he's great. God is Creator and Judge. Which means he is first cause and final say. You've heard the phrase “you're about to meet your Maker.” That's a threat in action movies, but it's theologically on point. Every one of us will meet our Maker. The one who gave you life will one day call you to account for that life. The hands that formed you are the same hands that will judge you. And that's why God is great.God is great and greatly to be praised. True worship is a vertical response to the greatness of God.Here's the second truth we learn about worship …2. True worship is a horizontal declaration of the goodness of God.We see this in verses 2–3. We've already seen here that worship is the theme of Psalm 96, but notice what this worship includes. Verse 2: Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! Now the keyword here is that word “tell.” Do y'all see that in the second part of verse 2? I want you to circle that word with your eyes. This is a special word in the Old Testament. It shows up in some key places. One big one is Isaiah 52:7. You may have heard this verse before. Isaiah 52:7,How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”Now that phrase “brings good news” — that's the word translated as “tell” in Psalm 96:2. In the Greek Old Testament, it's word euangelizō. In English it means “preach the gospel.”Did you know that preaching the gospel is part of worship?According to Psalm 96, preaching the gospel (telling the good news) is part of worshiping God. Worship is a vertical response to God for his greatness and there's a horizontal declaration of his goodness. This means that true worship has a missionary character. We're singing and ascribing, and we're telling and declaring, because we want others to join us in the singing and ascribing. And if there is no telling and declaring it means that our worship is deformed. It's less than true. That's the implication here. And that's the danger of an ingrown church. I'll use that phrase “ingrown church” a lot these days because that's a real temptation for any church that's been around for a decade, and maybe especially for a church that has a nice building like this. Can't we just come here and worship, just us? Do we really need more people here? New people here? Can't we just keep it us?I want to be clear here: if our worship of God is not something we want others to be a part of, then it's broken. And I believe Jesus doesn't like it that way.True worship includes a horizontal declaration of the goodness of God. Because he is good. We have good news. We have a God who saves. He saves! I want to end like this: I want to give you three facts about God's salvation. This is what we get to declare.1. God's salvation is for all peoples. The psalm says it — we declare his glory among the nations and his marvelous works among all the peoples! We call all the families of the peoples to ascribe to God the glory due his name. This is amazing. It means that God is not just for one particular tribe, or one kind of people. He truly is for everyone from everywhere. To make it personal, think about your own life, your own story. There's nothing about your person or nothing about your past that excludes you from God. Listen: God can save you wherever you're from and whatever you've done — amen? If you're not moved by that it's because either you didn't hear what I just said or you're self-righteous.Seriously — the most literal Pharisaical thing someone could do is to despise or ignore the universal reach of God's salvation. Everybody gets to be saved if they would just come home. Come home to the love of God! That invitation goes to everyone. God's salvation is for all peoples.2. God's salvation is from his wrath. To be “saved” is a great Bible word, but it doesn't make sense to a lot of people. If we were to ask someone if they're saved, the first thing they might say is, “Saved from what?”This is where Psalm 96 is really helpful. The perspective here keeps in view the coming judgment of God. Again, remember Jesus is coming, as Paul says in 2 Thessalonians 1:8, Jesus is coming “with his mighty angels in flaming fire [to inflict] vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.”What does it mean to obey the gospel? That's a phrase used in the New Testament. It has to do with the reign of God. That's part of what makes the good news good. It's that God reigns. We heard that in Isaiah 52:7; we see it in Psalm 96:10; and it was also how the apostles preached. The apostles didn't just say, “Your sins can be forgiven” — they said, “Jesus is Lord of all” (see Acts 10:36). They proclaimed that Jesus is risen from the dead and reigning. They preached the supremacy of Christ as good news because it is — and that is one way to divide the world. When we read in Psalm 96:10, “Say among the nations, ‘Yahweh reigns!”' — there are two kinds of people in the world. There are those who love the reign of God and those who hate the reign of God. No middle ground. And if you hate the reign of God, too bad, because it's coming anyway. And if you hate the reign of the King when the King comes, you will face the wrath of the King. That makes sense, right?Well, the good news is that you can be saved from that wrath if you bow to the King. That is the proclamation! That's what the herald says:Hear ye! Hear ye! The King is coming! He has conquered sin and death, and his victory is on the way! Receive it now while you can!And I mean that. In this room right now, I'm inviting you … Stop hating the reign of God. Bow to Jesus Christ and believe. Receive his salvation. Receive the goodness of his rule.3. God's salvation is awaiting final consummation. The salvation of God that we receive now is real. We receive it by faith in Jesus and it's effective. We become new creatures; we're filled with the Holy Spirit; our lives are changed. But also, it's a salvation not yet complete. There's a grand finale of our salvation that we're still waiting for at the return of Jesus. The apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 3 that as Christians, “our citizenship is in heaven, and from it [from heaven] we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body…”And the theological word for this future transformation is consummation. It's the final and complete fulfillment of our salvation. When Jesus returns, every detail of brokenness will be restored and we will be made perfectly like him. The New Testament talks about this hope in several places, but Romans Chapter 8 is the go-to.Paul says in Romans 8:18 that we're waiting for a future glory that will be revealed to us … and then he says something that we didn't see coming. He says that all of creation is also waiting for our future glory. Romans 8:19, “the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.” The whole creation will experience the freedom of the glory of the children of God, and so the whole creation is groaning (or sighing) for that future day.Can you imagine that?Back in July, my family and I spent a week at the beach in North Carolina, and one of my favorite things to do at the beach is get up early and watch the sunrise. You're watching the giant orange ball in the sky right here, and then the waves are crashing here, and it's music. It's beautiful. And you can hear the longing in it, if you use your imagination. To think that all of us together are waiting for a future day. The sun and the sea, the seagulls and the sky — we're all waiting for something. So we can say:11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; 12 let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy 13 before the Lord, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. The day is coming. And we worship now in that hope. Two truths about worship:True worship is a vertical response to the greatness of God. True worship is a horizontal declaration of the goodness of God. And we come to the Table to do both. The TableAt this Table, we give thanks to Jesus for his death and we proclaim his death until he comes. Vertical response and horizontal declaration. It goes like this:If you're a Christian, if you have trusted in Jesus Christ to save you, let's eat and drink and give him thanks. If you're here and you're not yet a Christian, we proclaim him to you: Jesus is the Lord of all and he came to save you — put your faith in him. Come home.

Today's Pull-Up cuts through the noise: Meditation = shutting the f*ck up for a few minutes. Period. You don't need incense, a cushion, or a guru. You need silence. Stillness. The kind I had to find through chaos — from hospital beds to Kundalini awakenings in the middle of NYC.Whether you're manifesting your next move or just remembering who the hell you are, the message is clear: Stop talking. Start listening. The Divine is already speaking.Oh — and saying “that's my car” as a kid? Yeah, that was baby meditation. Your soul's been knowing.
Called to HOLINESS #2 We must seek a level of holiness that brings the Glory of God into our lives. Discuss what is Holiness: Holiness is not: Being perfect, never sinning, never being tempted to sin its: To be different Set apart To fulfill His purpose To live our lives in a way that reflects God's glory John 1:14(Amp) – And the word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honour, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favour, loving-kindness) and truth. Ephesians 1:4 (NIV) - For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love Glory of God is prioritizing His honor, beauty, and magnificence above all else in your life. It involves aligning your actions, words, and thoughts with His will and purpose, ultimately reflecting His character and demonstrating His love and power to the world. It means choosing to glorify Goid in all you do, rather than seeking personal glory or recognition. This might involve saying no to opportunities that would bring you praise but not glorify God. John 5:44 - How is it possible for you to believe [how can you learn to believe], you who [are content to seek and] receive praise and honor and glory from one another, and yet do not seek the praise and honor and glory which come from Him Who alone is God? This is a Crossroad scripture - Start good, end bad Galatians 3:2-3 - “I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh? For so many Christians: They display a spirituality to impress man – compromising your values and principles to fit in with the ungodly. Seeking honor and recognition from others – wanting validation from man. Living to appear righteous As long as you are being patted, recognized, praised and fussed about and the honor and glory is flowing then… you are a happy Christian. Can one honestly say you are walking near to God when your motivation is the praise of man? Here's a clear sign: We know we are relating correctly to God when our hunger for His glory makes us forsake the praise of man. Greek for Glory is “Doxa”: Glory is: to please – to be of a good reputation – to give honor – full of grace – love – kindness and truth Hebrew for Glory is “Kavod”. To show much splendor [prag, praal]. “A life of Holiness” is seeking to please God and seek His Glory. John 5:44 – how is it possible for you to believe, when you thrive on being recognized and praised by one another. Jesus said it – Luke 16:15 -“He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God's sight. Who are you really trying to impress? When we truly desire a life of holiness – seeking God, no one will have to tell us to be humble, to convince us of our old natures – Colossians 3:2-7 - 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 And when Christ, who is your[a] life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. 5 So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don't be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. 6 Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. 7 You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. Holiness comes from seeking His Glory - here's the promise: If you take time to meet with God, you will meet Him Jeremiah 29:13 (Amp) - “Then you will seek me, enquire for, and require me (as a vital necessity) and find me when you search for me with all your heart.” Psalm 27:8(Amp) – you have said, seek my face (enquire for and require my presence as your vital need) my heart says to you your face (your presence) Lord will I seek. As you touch Him, something will come alive in you. Your life will become significant. You'll become effective in all you do and say. People will be drawn to Jesus because of you. We are talking about “Called to Holiness”. The sad thing is many Christians have NO higher goal, NO greater aspiration than to live a normal in-effective, fairly boring Christian life. 1 Corinthians 3:3 – Paul rebuked the church in Corinth because they walked “LIKE mere man”. (A holy life is a set apart life) He asks – where is the holiness – difference?. Listen – God has so much more for us than just becoming better people. Romans 8:11 – He wants to flood our lives with the same power that raised Christ from the dead. If we are going to be Holy, we must break away from desiring just an average life. We must seek a level of Holiness that brings the Glory of God into our lives. Jonathan Edwards – 18th century revivalist: ”Grace is but glory begun, and glory is but grace perfected.” The means to holiness is grace. Holiness is a product of grace. You may be thinking, I'll never achieve this teaching in my condition. Then you have only heard half the message. Grace is in the heart of all Gods' truth. Truth without grace is only half-true. John 1:17 - Grace and truth are in JESUS. For while the law was given through Moses, grace (unearned, undeserved favor and spiritual blessing) and truth came through Jesus Christ. What God's truth demands, His grace will provide. Romans 6:22 – But now since you have been set free from sin and have become the slaves of God, you have your present reward in Holiness and its end is eternal life. “Holiness is a lifestyle” Seeking to walk close to the Glory of God. Holiness is doing all within one's power to become more like Jesus. 2 Corinthians 3:18(Amp) – And all of us, as with unveiled face [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from on degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.

How much does … “God's will” matter to you? If you are a Jesus follower, is it important to know and to follow God's will? Isn't that kind of what being a “Jesus follower” means? And what if “God's will” clashes with your will for your life? Because it will! When they clash, who wins? And, if you are not a Jesus follower yet, and if there really is a big G God, and if that big G God actually does have a purpose for your life … if God has a “will” for you, should you care? What will you miss if you don't?

If someone is speaking about something and it doesn't fit my agenda right now … if it's not the most important thing I can do at that moment … then I'm not interested. I don't want to hear it if it's inconvenient for me. And if it's terrible news, I sure don't listen to it, right? This is why most of us have these apps on our phones – these bank apps that tell us how much money is in our account – and sometimes we don't open them because we don't want to see how much isn't in our history. And sometimes, we don't go to the doctor because we don't want to hear what the doctor may say to us. And sometimes we don't want to go to church because we don't want to listen to what the preacher may say, much less what God may say. Have you ever done that? Have you ever refused to attend church because you were scared of what God may say?
Part 2 of "Hear." Pastor Rick Swan. Sermon for September 3, 2023.
Listen God is doing a new thing and you need to hear this episode
I invite you to put yourself in the story. This is your family story. If you are a Christian, then we are family, and this is a part of your family story, because it's all about our father. This is a story about the heart of your Heavenly Father. It expresses His heart toward you and how He wants to move through you. Family Background: History of infertility and miscarriage, death of a child. We had a son after 12 years of marriage; then adopted a teen-aged daughter from Ukraine.God moved in 3 countries to bring a second daughter out of Ukraine during the war and into the security of our family. We faced many obstacles and the journey seemed impossible, but God made the way.Psalm 113:9 says “He [God] gives the childless woman a family, making her a happy mother. Praise the LORD!” What God has taught me through this ongoing adventure with Him and some things He might be speaking to you:Receive God's love for you and for others: This is a story of God's miraculous intervention. This story demonstrates His heart for the one alone and in distress. It was God's heart for our daughter that made this happen. It was not my love and compassion in going after her, God gave me His heart. Do you recognize God's extravagant love for you? Will you take the risk to give Him your heart? Maybe you know his love for you. God works through His children to demonstrate His radical love. Will you allow Him to work through you?Listen: God speaks. Make room to hear Him. Seek Him/ Follow God with all your heart even when you don't see the promise fulfilled. Listen for God's Voice: Position yourself to hear Him. Learn to hear Him. Treasure His instruction. Obey–When we yield to Him, God does things that we couldn't do on our own. Your obedience may lead to you answered prayer. There were so many times that we could have given up. Don't be afraid. Or, do it afraid. Either way, take the next step. What adventure awaits when we partner with God to attempt the impossible! Trust God. 2 Timothy 1:7 7 How is God speaking to you right now?(Receive) Is He revealing His heart toward you. Do you recognize how He has pursued you? Will you say ‘Yes' to His invitation to follow Him?(Listen) Do you need to make room in your life in your schedule to hear His voice? What changes do you need to make?(Obey) Maybe you've heard God's voice and you need to take a step toward where He is calling you. Will you say “yes” to His invitation to follow Him? Yes to this adventure with God.

Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. God has not changed. He is the same God who performed miracles from the beginning, and He always will be. He sent Jesus to fulfill His promises. He left the Holy Spirit when Jesus went to be with the Father. Jesus said anyone who believes would do […] The post Listen: God performs miracles in Brazil and still does in America appeared first on Yellowhammer News.

Our study on Moses continues! In this episode, we are taking a look at God having to be somewhat repetitive with Moses when giving Moses specific commands. And not because Moses did not hear Him the first time. How many times has God needed to be repetitive with us as well? It continues to comfort my heart how much I seem to relate to Moses in these ways. Enjoy this ninth lesson of our Bible study! Blessings! Listen: God is bigger. He is bigger than any religious building. He is bigger than man's interpretation of him. He is bigger than the person on the stage telling you to think of god in a certain — often fear based — way. I don't have a problem with the church — I have a problem the leaders of church's speaking to us in such a way that we don't get to know God for ourselves. Our own, growing, evolving relationship with God — a relationship of *our own* understanding — must begin to outweigh the dogma and f*ed up doctrine that many churches have tried to fill our heads with. The church is not God. God is not a man on a stage. God is… God.
Although Noah had never seen a flood – or rain -- he obeyed God and started building a boat. Is God telling you to step out? Maybe you're hearing the voice of God asking you to do something that you just can't fathom. Maybe somebody prophesied a word on your life but you cannot imagine what it might look like. Rosalinda says, “Listen – God is not asking you to be the architect who designs the blueprint. He is asking you to trust Him and begin building.”

In this passage we explore the necessity of Scripture the Christian life as we are challenged to make Bible reading a daily habit.
In this passage we explore the necessity of Scripture the Christian life as we are challenged to make Bible reading a daily habit.
Romans 9:1–13 (Listen) God's Sovereign Choice 9:1 I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit—2 that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers,1 my kinsmen according to the flesh. 4 They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises. 5 To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen. 6 But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, 7 and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” 8 This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring. 9 For this is what the promise said: “About this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.” 10 And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac, 11 though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls—12 she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” 13 As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” Footnotes [1] 9:3 Or brothers and sisters (ESV)
Romans 8:31–39 (Listen) God's Everlasting Love 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be1 against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.2 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Footnotes [1] 8:31 Or who is [2] 8:34 Or Is it Christ Jesus who died . . . for us? (ESV)

On this episode, we are discussing how God feels when we only go to Him with our problems and not for His fellowship. I believe God wants to speak to us and converse with us every time we talk to Him. He wants a genuine relationship that's not one-sided but sometimes we act as if our relationship with God is one-directional. Listen to this episode to hear how I compare conversations with a loved one that is going nowhere because they are not listening to the conversations we sometimes have with God. Email us at hello@christywright.com to let us know what you think of the show. This year has left so many people hopeless and wondering if things will ever change. So, today on the show, we're talking about how we can have hope that things can change, even if it feels impossible. Then, I'm so excited because bestselling author, rapper, recording artist and businessman Lecrae is joining us to talk about restoration. Finally, we'll take some time to pray and journal. It's going to be so good! Feeling Lost and Broken? Watch This. Our God is a God who restores. He cares about the big things and the small things and everything in between. There have been so many times when God's displayed that in my life. Let me give you an example: When I was 23 years old, I moved to this little house that backed up to the Harpeth River. I decided it was the perfect opportunity to get a canoe, and my mom had a friend who owned a canoe company. So, I got an old, beat up yellow canoe that didn't have seats and even had some holes in the bottom, and it was perfect. I fixed it up and enjoyed it the entire summer. One day, I was so exhausted after canoeing that I decided not to pull the canoe all the way up the hill into my backyard and just flipped it over on the hillside. When I came out the next day, it was gone. Someone had stolen it. I felt so guilty for leaving it outside the fence and told myself I didn't deserve another canoe. But a year and a half later, I moved to another house surrounded by the same river and decided it was time for another canoe. I asked my mom to call her friend again, and a few days later she pulled down the old gravel drive of my farmhouse with the same yellow canoe. I couldn't believe it. Turns out, someone had stolen the canoe, and the store owner's wife saw it propped up on someone's porch. Listen: God cares. So, if you're questioning if God sees you, if He cares about you, or if He cares about the little things . . . He does. Why You're Never Too Messed Up for a Restoration with Lecrae Y'all, I'm so excited because I get to sit down with bestselling author, rapper, recording artist and businessman Lecrae to discuss the work he's doing with his brand-new album and book. We cover a lot of ground, but here are some highlights: Reigniting hope during hard times Separating your identity from your circumstances Finding restoration despite brokenness What Healing Do You Need? "And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen." - 1 Peter 5:1-11 (NIV) I love this promise and reminder that God knows everything and can do anything. If God said it, He will do it. He doesn't make broken promises. He can and will restore you when you trust Him with your deepest wounds and brokenness. He will make you steadfast and strong. Take some time to pray and write down the answers to these questions: Where do you need God to restore something in your life? What have you given up on in your...

God is constantly speaking to you. But too often, we can miss out on hearing what God's saying to you because you're not familiar with His Voice. So you start to wonder how to hear from God and why you are not.God wants you to hear his voice clear, and it is possible to do so. The key is to develop a personal relationship with God, which will empower you to hear him speak to you on a regular basis. He tells you “Come near to God and He will come near to you.” (James 4:8) The more time you spend with Him talking to Him about All Things, both Listening and Hearing from Him, your relationship with Him becomes closer. And God transforms you into a new person by using His conversations with you to change the way you think and He gives you new attitudes. Then you are able to test and know what God's will for you is, when going through difficult or crisis or there is a major decision that you have to make. Romans 12:2 Listen God created you for a close personal relationship with Himself. God re-created you in Christ Jesus. You are a New Creation in Christ, the Old Is Gone and the New Has Come. (2 Corinthians 5:17) You have been Born Again of the Spirit of God. (John 3:5-7) it is no longer you who lives, but Christ lives IN you. (Galatians 2:20) Your Body is Now the Temple of the Living God. (2 Corinthians 6:16).God designed you for a close personal relationship with him. He came to live in the you to be personally present with you and talk to you on a moment by moment basis. You can Confidently and Boldly come and talk with God – remembering he is your Heavenly Father Who knows exactly what you need even before you ask Him! Matthew 6:8 The Lord is constantly speaking to you and giving you His Direction. The Problem Is Nevertheless the Lord, but Rather Not Fixing Your Thoughts and Mind on Him to Hear. (Hebrews 12:2)Jesus Said: “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His own life for the sheep. John 10:11 “The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 Notice that He said in verse 3, His sheep hear His voice. He didn't say His sheep CAN hear His voice or SHOULD hear His voice. He made the emphatic statement that His sheep DO hear His voice. 4 Steps to Hear clearly the voice of God1. Meditate on the word of God. To meditate means to pay special attention. This means you sit still and quietly before the Lord and ask him what He is saying to you through His Word. Psalms 46:10Joshua 1:8 gives you the instruction:This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.Joshua 1:8 As a born-again believer, the Word of God Now Lives in you. The LORD says: I have put My laws into your heart, and in them in your mind.Hebrews 10:16 2. Practice the word of God – be a doer of the word and not a hearer only. God and His Word are ONE.But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”James 1:22 For example he tells you in Philippians 4:6, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.Philippians 4:6 3. Give the word first place in your life.My son, give attention to: My Words Incline your ear to My sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh. Proverbs 4:20-22Always put the Word First. Ask What God Says about Your Situation or Circumstance. For the word of God which the Holy Spirit will reveal to you is guaranteed to come to pass. Just as God says:So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11 For the word of God will never fail. For with God nothing will be impossible. Luke 1:37 This is because the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12 4. Act on the Word of God with Authority. For the word of God, is the sword of the Spirit. The Sword That the Spirit of God uses. Ephesians 6:17The Spirit of God Draws you to His Word of Promise. Spirit and power of God, operating on you and stirring your minds most holy emotions and thus persuading you. (1 Corinthians 2:4) To regulate your life and conduct yourself by the effective working of the Holy Spirit in you testifying with your own spirit what God would have you to do; thus you walk not by sight or making decisions based on the appearance of things, but by the Word of God Divinely Persuading You What God Prefers. 2 Corinthians 5:7, Romans 8:16For you are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, the Holy Spirit of God really dwells within you, directs and controls you because you belong to Christ and are truly a child of God. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Romans 8:9, 14
GOD LOVES YOU! Before you were ever born, God Chose You in Christ Jesus to Be His Dear Child. You Did Not Choose God, God Chose You. He goes before you and follows you. He places His Right hand of blessing on your head. You can never escape from His Spirit! You can never get away from His Presence! He watched you being formed in utter seclusion, as you were woven together in the dark of the womb. He saw you before You were ever born. Every day of your life was recorded in His book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are His thoughts about you, His Child. They cannot be numbered! They outnumber the grains of sand! (Ephesians 1, Psalms 139)Listen God on your side and He is Fighting for you Because He Never Stops Caring for you. He is Faithful Always (2 Tim 2:13) What you do Does Not AFFECT HIS LOVE FOR YOU. Father, Show Your Grace Afresh and Anew to the one You love, This Very Day. Stir them to see Your Mercy and Grace, in Jesus Name. Amen!
Are you ready to listen? -- God: Tapping into Divinely Guided Healing and Self Love with Debbie Goldberg "Are you ready to listen?" Those were the first words I heard God say to me. What enfolded over the next 2 years was a relationship with Jesus, God and the archangels that accompany all of us dally. In this book, I take you through my own awakening, dialogue with Spirit and the healing of all the injured parts of my soul. As a career therapist, this journey into Spirit awakened me to a deeper meaning, a healing of emotional hurt that was buried yet alive and present within all my fears and perceived limitations. My journey from stressed-out, career hungry, love starved therapist to the joy and fulfillment I experience today is all chronicled in the volumes of Creating A Life Worth Living, a gift of love from Spirit. Everything you need for your life's journey is within you. Author and therapist Debbie N. Goldberg was raised in a Jewish family on Long Island where most of her childhood and young adult life was laced with shame, guilt, abuse and rebellion. It was these turbulent years that set the course toward spirituality that she thrives in today. As an adult, Debbie became a therapist specializing in depression, anxiety and relationships. Through nearly two decades in a thriving career and ultimately private practice, Debbie sought a path to a deeper more meaningful life.
