It's Monday, February 5th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Theology professor fired for upholding Biblical sexual ethic A theology professor in Derbyshire, England, has been fired from a Methodist Bible university after sharing his Biblical beliefs on social media, reports International Christian Concern. Dr. Aaron Edwards, an employee at Cliff College for seven years, was dismissed for publicly criticizing the Methodist Church and its unbiblical views on marriage. Edwards' employer had accused him of “bringing the college into disrepute.” On February 19, 2023, Edwards tweeted, “Homosexuality is invading the Church. Evangelicals no longer see the severity of this because they're busy apologizing for their apparently barbaric homophobia, whether or not it's true. This is a ‘Gospel issue,' by the way. If sin is no longer sin, we no longer need a Saviour.” The professor's tweet drew push back from several homosexual groups, prompting Cliff College to call the post “unacceptable” and “inappropriate,” demanding the professor remove the tweet. Isaiah 5:20 describes perfectly both the push back of the homosexual groups and the cowardly, unbiblical Cliff College. “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.” Truth be told, Cliff College brought itself into disrepute. To his credit, Edwards refused to take down the post, arguing it would violate his conscience. He further pointed out that the post was not defamatory to any individual in particular and was, therefore, not in violation of the school's social media policy. Despite his sincere efforts, the school opened an investigation, leading to the professor's suspension and subsequent dismissal. Unbelievably, school officials threatened to refer him to the U.K. government's counter terrorism and hate speech unit. Edwards is suing Cliff College for unfair firing and compensation under England's Equality Act. U.S. hits hard at militias in Iraq and Syria On Friday, the U.S. military launched an air assault on dozens of sites in Iraq and Syria used by Iranian-backed militias and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, reports the Associated Press. This was retaliation for the drone strike that killed three U.S. troops in Jordan last weekend. The massive barrage of strikes hit more than 85 targets at seven locations, including command and control headquarters, intelligence centers, rockets and missiles, drone and ammunition storage sites that were connected to the militias or Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force. The Force is the Guard's expeditionary unit that handles Tehran's relationship with and arming of regional militias. The U.S. strikes appeared to stop short of directly targeting Iran or senior leaders of the Revolutionary Guard Quds Force within its borders, as the U.S. tries to prevent the conflict from escalating even further. Iran has denied it was behind the Jordan attack. Protesters rally in Texas against entry of illegal immigrants Here in America, hundreds of people converged Saturday in trucks, vans and RVs, in southern Texas to rally against what they say is an illegal immigrant "invasion," demanding tough new controls at the U.S. border with Mexico, reports AFP. Scrawled on the side of one of the vehicles reaching Quemado, Texas -- population 162 -- were the words "Join the God Fight." The convoy decided to gather in this tiny town along the Rio Grande river, which forms the natural border between the United States and Mexico, as debate swirls again about how to address record high illegal immigrant crossings. Hundreds of thousands of people from Central and South America, and beyond, have waded illegally across the river in recent months. But their huge numbers have become a galvanizing issue, especially ahead of the November presidential election, with Republicans in Congress blocking additional U.S. aid to Ukraine and Israel over demands that President Joe Biden does more to stop the flow. And so it is at tiny Quemado that the activist group calling itself "We the People" -- the first words in the preamble to the U.S. Constitution -- decided to meet and make their anger known. Under the slogan "Take our border back," these activists, traveling in convoys from the across the United States, have been arriving in towns along the border to camp -- and protest -- this past weekend. Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America to spend $100 million on presidential election A national pro-life advocacy organization aims to spend nearly $100 million and knock on over 4 million doors ahead of the 2024 presidential election, reports the Christian Post. The November election outcome could have major implications for the future of abortion policy in the United States. In a statement Thursday, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America announced it will collaborate with its partner organization Women Speak Out PAC to "spend $92 million and reach 10 million voters to protect life across America." The figure exceeds the $56 million spent in the 2020 election cycle and the $78 million the group pledged to spend during the 2022 midterm election cycle. The campaign's hundreds of thousands of volunteers will canvas in eight battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Bloody Mary's first Protestant martyr And finally, on February 4th, 1555, John Rogers, an English Protestant clergyman and Bible translator, was burned at the stake in England by Queen Mary I, also known as “Bloody Mary.” She was determined to violently restore Roman Catholicism. Translating the Bible into commonly spoken English, Rogers published The Matthew Bible under the pseudonym Thomas Matthew. Rogers' work constituted the first complete English Bible and commentary. On January 28 and 29, 1555, he came before the commission appointed by Catholic Cardinal Reginald Pole. He was sentenced to death by Catholic Bishop Stephen Gardiner for the so-called sin of denying the Christian character of the Church of Rome and the alleged real presence of Jesus Christ in the symbolic elements of bread and wine of Catholic communion. Even though Rogers was denied a meeting with his wife, he awaited and met death cheerfully. Shortly before his execution, Rogers was offered a pardon if he were to recant, but he refused. As he was marched to the site of his execution, the irrepressible John Rogers sang the Psalms. In John 16:2, Jesus said, “The time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God.” Tragically, that is exactly what Bloody Mary thought, that she was offering a service to God by killing Protestant leaders who loved God's Word. Fuente: Bite

William Tyndale (1494 – 1536) was an English Biblical scholar and linguistic genius who became a leading figure in the Protestant Reformation but us best remembered for his translation of the Bible into English. In 1535, Tyndale was arrested and in 1536, he was convicted of heresy by the Catholic Church and executed by strangulation, after which his body was burnt at the stake. His dying prayer was that the King of England's eyes would be opened and just one year later Henry VIII authorized the Matthew Bible, which was largely Tyndale's work, with missing sections translated by John Rogers and Myles Coverdale.

What is the Matthew Bible? What is Matthew's Bible / Matthew's Version? When was the Matthew Bible created?
On this day of Thanksgiving, I am very grateful to those who came before, who paved the way to the freedoms I enjoy today. In our country right now, there are some threats to our constitutional freedoms. Even some cases of physical life or death threats for standing up for what we believe. It’s disturbing, and yet inspiring. Most of us are not in the position of William Tyndale who wanted to translate the Bible into English directly from the original Greek text for the general public to read. The Catholic church and the laws of England at that time forbid this because the Bible had been changed for the benefit of the church. If Tyndale printed the Bible from the original text, the church leaders would have been exposed. Also, the general public would have had the ability to go directly to God with their questions instead of going to the church, therefore, freeing themselves from control.Tyndale spent one year in prison and then was sentenced to die by strangulation, after which his body was burned at the stake. through his efforts, one year later, King Henry authorized the Matthew Bible which was largely Tyndale’s work. He didn’t live to see his dream fulfilled, but in setting himself free to take action on his beliefs, he set the world free.In my new book The Seven Gateways, I share the often quoted true message to all of us: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”When we set ourselves free, we automatically liberate others.Typically we are not physically endangered when we step up and share our message. It may feel like we are being strangled by our limiting beliefs, or burned by comments on facebook or even friends and family members.God gave us the right to be free.If we are raised in a toxic environment, it can actually feel the most comfortable, (as crazy as that sounds) but we have the right to choose something else.A baby elephant in captivity is raised to believe it can’t break free from the chain around its foot. Even as a huge adult, the elephant will never even try because it believes it is imprisoned. (Thanks Felecia for that imagery)We have to first realize we are in prison before we can choose to break free. Mary, on our call shared how she worked in a toxic environment for years, until a cancerous tumor was discovered. How grateful we can feel, if we choose, for the traumatic experience that is the catalyst to finally choose freedom.Claim your freedom, and then hold fast to it!Have the courage to say: “I don’t belong here!” And then choose the beliefs that will give you the courage to set yourself free. Give power to your beliefs with actions that align with the new free space you occupy.Today, I Give Myself Permission to Break the ChainsI am smartI am capableI am learning the best ways to be meI claim my right to be successful and financially freeI claim my right to perfect healthI claim my right to happinessI claim my right to speak my mind and hSupport the show (https://wylenebenson.com)
Despite spending countless hours in church, or even years in seminary, most Christians don’t know the fascinating origin of their King James Bible, or who died for it. They did not want any Bible other than the Latin Vulgate. Harsh laws made translating the Bible punishable by death, and both William Tyndale and John Rogers were burned at the stake.
About Ruth Magnusson Davis Came to faith: October 5, 1998 Church affiliation: Traditional (evangelical) conservative Anglican Favourite authors: Martin Luther and Myles Coverdale After many years of seeking in New Age and non-Christian religions, Ruth came to faith when she heard the voice of the Son of God in his gospel, receiving it in the joy of the Holy Spirit. She then turned utterly from the world and became a student of the scripture. She joined a Charismatic Church, but was led to leave it when she realized that much of the teaching conflicted with the Bible, and due to concerns she had about their spiritual practices. She began to seek answers, and the result was her book True to His Ways, published in 2006, which is characterized by her usual thoroughness and insight. True to His Ways exposes the unwitting occultism that characterizes the Charismatic movement. In 2006 Ruth was a busy lawyer. Because she was then widely published in legal circles, she wrote under her maiden name, Ruth Davis, partly to distinguish her Christian writings, and partly to honour her father, who had given her a love of learning, reading, and study. One thing led to another, however, and she now uses the full Christian pen name Ruth Magnusson Davis In 2009 Ruth retired from law to work on the New Matthew Bible Project, dedicated to updating the Matthew Bible. During the seven years she worked on the New Testament she has become a scholar of the Matthew Bible, early modern English language and grammar, and the writings of William Tyndale and Miles Coverdale, the men who gave us the Matthew scriptures. More information about Ruth, and how she approached updating the Matthew Bible, is at the website dedicated to The October Testament.
