Send us a textWelcome:Summary. When God brought the Israelites into the Promised Land, He gave them a paradoxical command: “The land is yours—now go and take possession of it.” That was both a gift and a responsibility. In the same way, we are told that God has blessed believers in Christ with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3). He has already given us love, peace, patience, hope, joy, gratitude, and strength/endurance, yet we are still required to take hold of them and live in their reality. The tragedy is that many Christians fail to claim what is already theirs. What holds them back? Three common obstacles include:LazinessLack of Faith Lapsing into SinBut what if you've pushed past these struggles? Is there another obstacle that can still hinder you?The Danger of DeceptionJoshua 9 tells the story of how something as small and deceptive as stale bread nearly derailed Israel's whole conquest. Spiritual Mouldy Bread TodayJust as Israel was deceived by appearances, many Christians today fall for spiritual deception. Some examples include:The Lie That We Must Earn Salvation – Some teach that faith alone is not enough, but Scripture is clear: "For by grace you have been saved through faith… not of works" (Ephesians 2:8-9).The Prosperity Gospel – Some claim that true faith guarantees wealth and health. But Jesus Himself said, "The poor you will always have with you" (Matthew 26:11).The Lie That We Need More Than Christ – Some say we need secret knowledge or additional revelations, but Colossians 2:10 declares that we are "complete in Him."Seeking God's WisdomDon't trust appearances.Always seek God's wisdom.Don't assume something is right just because it looks good.Pray first, then act.Final Thought: If you want to walk in God's promises, seek fresh guidance daily. Don't live off mouldy bread. Seek God, trust His wisdom, and walk in His truth.Faith That Challenges. Conversations that Matter. Laughs included. Hello! This is Episode 342, and in it, I'm talking with HOME Method member, Cindy. Cindy is a HOME Method member, and she's also a designer and Thermal Performance Assessor, who has designed her own new home which is currently under construction. [For all resources mentioned in this podcast and a free, downloadable PDF transcript, head to www.undercoverarchitect.com/342] Cindy was on the podcast about 5 months ago in Episodes 321 and 322, giving us her first update on her project, and sharing her design phase and early construction experience. She's back to talk about some of the challenges that weather has brought for the construction process: in particular dealing with a wet timber frame that has grown mould, and needs to be remediated before the project continues. We've had a few members inside HOME Method navigating this challenge this year, as the weather has been wet for long periods of time in many parts of Australia, and that can wreak havoc on an exposed timber frame of a home during construction. Timber can absorb moisture and water, and then over time, with the right conditions, grow mould which impregnates in the timber itself. The worst thing that can happen is that the frame is not allowed to dry out, or the mould is not remediated, and the home gets lined internally and externally regardless of its dampness or condition. This can be incredibly detrimental for the health of the occupants and the durability of the home long-term. And, unfortunately, it happens far too often in home construction. So, I think you'll find Cindy's process of navigating this specific challenge on her project super informative. Remember, if you'd like to grab a full transcript of this episode, plus links to Cindy's previous project updates on the podcast, as well as information on the resources we discuss and photos of Cindy's home, you can find all of that by heading to www.undercoverarchitect.com/342. A single mother says her two year old daughter got pneumonia and has been hospitalised multiple times after growing up in a mouldy home, which her landlord failed to maintain. The woman was awarded over $12,000 as part of a successful tenancy tribunal hearing. But she said her young daughter's health has been permanently affected, and she's in and out of hospital every few months. A New Zealand housing researcher said the tenants' situation is sad but not uncommon as New Zealand has internationally high levels of mouldy housing, especially in rental properties, Luka Forman has more.

Mould and damp have long been a concern for many social housing tenants, and the death two-year old Awaab Ishak in Rochdale provided incontrovertible evidence (if any were needed) that it could be fatal. The toddler's inquest ruled last November that he died "as a result of a severe respiratory condition caused due to prolonged exposure to mould in his home environment"That set Byline Times' own Sian Norris on a mission to establish how many others could be at risk, and her findings - though incomplete because of the weakness of Freedom Of Information laws - were damning. She found that thousands of families - including those with children - were at risk.Host Adrian Goldberg hears from Sian, and Michelle - a tenant in Bristol - who says that exposure to mould caused her lung to collapse.Produced in Birmingham by Adrian Goldberg. We hear from a couple locking horns on when to send their kid to school. Is it better to stay the extra year in early years or will a child get bored and become disenchanted with learning? "Why is my child not able to sit in his pram or high chair?" and "How do I comfort him when he screams and hides from me when he's upset?" We manage to squeeze plenty of laughs in too. Jarlath's mould scraping and Tina's negative self-talk comes under the microscope. Do you love your child more than your partner? When is it okay to spank? Your partner that is, not your child.
