In an interview in the late 70's, Lennon said that he would have sung Oh Darling better than McCartney did. Unfortunately, Lennon did not supply a recording to substantiate his claim. But now, thanks to state-of-the-art-artificial-intelligence-technology, it is possible to create this unheard outtake of the Abbey Road sessions.Who do you prefer, John or Paul?
It was 32 years ago yesterday that the Mets traded Ron Darling to the Expos for Tim Burke, who himself was then traded to the Yankees for Lee Guetterman while Darling went from Montreal to Oakland after just three starts for the ‘Spos, and wound up pitching Game 3 of the 1992 ALCS for the A's.That was after David Cone, traded from the Mets to the Blue Jays in that 1992 season, pitched Game 2 for Toronto. Could we soon see another playoff series with recently-dealt Mets pitcher? Max Scherzer already is gone, and today we'll find out if Justin Verlander follows.Cone got the win in Game 2, Darling took the loss in Game 3, and the Blue Jays won the series in six before going on to beat Atlanta in the World Series. There, Cone victimized another future broadcaster, John Smoltz, helping Toronto win its first championship. This is a public episode. Chris, James, and James discuss Misery. Not the book though, none of us had ever read that. In fact, of the three of us, only one soldier had ever read a Stephen King novel before. Mind you, that one soldier read, like, a lot of Stephen King novels so we felt sufficiently qualified to tackle the matter. Besides: great movie. Real classic. Who even reads nowadays anyway? Losers. "Oh Darling, it will be so beautiful."

In our first book club episode, Jamie, Avery, and Lucy discuss The Trance of Scarcity by Victoria Castle. We talk about Victoria's brilliant metaphor of being “in the Circle” (where you live with flow, abundance, vitality, and ease) versus being “out of the Circle” (where life is defined by a sense of not enough-ness, constriction, urgency, separateness, and depletion). We explore two ways for getting back in the Circle: trading up our Stories and tuning into our Somas (a fancy phrase for physical bodies). Throughout the episode, we share about our personal experiences to help bring these concepts to life in real and applied ways. Note: No prior reading/knowledge of this book is required to enjoy and benefit from this episode. “Your job is not to figure everything out. Your job is to tune in and become available to infinite possibility.” – Victoria Castle, The Trance of ScarcityIn this episode we discuss:How it feels and what it's like to be “in” versus “out” of the CircleCommon factors that pull us out of the CircleWays to get back into the Circle, including how to catch/trade up our Stories and how to work directly with our SomasDo try this at home:Practice offering yourself compassion ( “Oh Darling” and hands on body)Focus on what is, not what is missingNotice and work with your body/soma – intentionally loosen and soften any tension/constrictionNotice and name when you are in or out of the Circle – practice curiosity

Welcome to the Big Beatles Sort Out, a show in which I, author and musician Garry Abbott, attempt to finally decide my favourite Beatles recordings by scoring each and every one for lyrical content, musicality and production. I am assisted in this venture by my brother and resident Beatles expert, Paul Abbott, with a deep knowledge of the Beatles and the wider context in which they operated. Each episode we explore and score 5 songs from the Beatles full recording catalogue. The songs are drawn at random to try and avoid any album or era prejudices skewing the results. So please join us as we try and sort out, The Beatles. Episode 21 Songs: Money (That's What I Want), Because, Here There and Everywhere, Oh Darling!, I'm Only Sleeping Please let anyone know about this podcast who might be interested! Australia's Mr Rock'n'Roll Davey Lane, lead guitarist for You Am I and singer/songwriter, returns for the third time to the podcast for our most epic Beatles chat yet. Armed with a bottle of Lagavulin, an acoustic guitar and the original multi-track recordings, we delve into the Fab Four's final masterpiece ‘Abbey Road'. How does the album function as the band's final mission statement? How did Her Majesty originally fit into the album? Which members of The Office cast should star in the Ricky Gervais directed Beatles movie? How does John Lennon's contribution to the album presage his solo work? What is the Beatles signature chord change? Why do people hate Paul McCartney, the man who wrote the most profound lyric in rock'n'roll? and what was Davey's experience seeing Sir Paul live earlier this year? Plus, we dig into the multi-track recordings of Something, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Polythene Pam and Oh Darling and look at the musical complexities of these classic tracks - the melodies of McCartney's bass-lines, the intricate Beatle harmonies and the singable guitar solos. My Favorite Album is a podcast unpacking the great works of pop music. Each episode features a different songwriter or musician discussing their favorite album of all time - their history with it, the making of the album, individual songs and the album's influence on their own music. Oh Darling ‘This aftershave you got me doesn’t half sting!’ ‘Well, I think you smell very nice.’ ‘Sting.’ ‘You’ll live, don’t worry. You’re not going to wear that shirt, are you?’ ‘Why not?’ ‘It makes you look like a grandfather. Here, put this on.’ ‘But I—’ ‘And you’d better change those trousers while you’re at it.’ ‘I thought you liked them?’ ‘I do. But they don’t go with that shirt.’ ‘Er, I’m in a bit of a rush, darling.’ ‘Aren’t we all! That spot’s not getting any better, is it? Did you put any cream on it?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘When?’ ‘Last night.’ ‘Come here. It won’t take a moment. When are you going to get your hair cut?’ ‘Next week.’ ‘You said that last week. Now, don’t forget the meeting.’ ‘What meeting?’ ‘With Joe’s teachers!’ ‘Ah, yes, I might not be able to make it. I’m doing interviews again—’ ‘What’s more important? Your teachers or Joe’s teachers?’ ‘Er—’ ‘Don’t answer that. Come on! I thought you said you were in a hurry?’ ‘Forget something?’ ‘Pendrive.’ ‘What about your briefcase?’ ‘Oh, I suppose I’d better take that as well. Just in case. Ha! Just in case. Get it?’ ‘Bye, darling.’ ‘Bye.’
