Send us Fan MailIn this episode, we take a ride through Breakfast in America, the massive 1979 album that turned Supertramp into worldwide superstars. Packed with unforgettable songs like “The Logical Song,” “Goodbye Stranger,” “Take the Long Way Home,” and the title track, the album blends sharp pop hooks, progressive rock touches, and a sneaky sense of wit and melancholy. We'll dig into how Supertramp balanced catchy radio-friendly hits with deeper themes of disillusionment, identity, fame, and the strange promise of the American dream. From Roger Hodgson's soaring vocals to Rick Davies' darker edge, Breakfast in America is an album full of contrast: bright melodies with bittersweet lyrics, glossy production with real emotional bite.Support the showBrowse the 33/24 Archives: Check out the backroom!Follow us:InstagramFacebookWatch us on YouTube!

After nearly a decade in the Upside Down, Stranger Things is finally complete and on this episode of Alternate Galaxies, we sit down to take in the whole saga, from the very start to the closing moments of the final episode.  With the full story now on the table, we look at how the show evolved, what it was building toward (if it even knew itself), and how it holds together when viewed as one complete narrative rather than 9 years of waiting on a story that lasted 4 years in-universe. We talk characters, themes, tonal shifts, nostalgia overload, ageing kids, big swings, weird choices, and whether the ending actually earned it.  An affectionate but honest look at one of the defining genre TV shows of the last decade, now that we finally know how it all ends. Berly and LA tackle Supernatural Season 8, Episode 17: "Goodbye Stranger" - where Naomi's been running the most disturbing training program in Heaven and the hosts have some THOUGHTS about cloning requests. The episode opens with a shocking scene: Cas repeatedly killing Dean in what turns out to be Heaven's warehouse training simulation. After hundreds of dead Dean bodies pile up (which the hosts note is a waste of perfectly good clones), Naomi declares Cas ready for his real mission. Meanwhile on Earth, Dean discovers a gentleman's magazine called "Voluptuous Asian Beauties" among the Men of Letters artifacts, which the hosts praised for its stunning vintage photography.Sam and Dean investigate deaths involving liquified bones and discover demons are searching for something, digging massive holes around town. They meet a PhD student with velcro rollers who's adorably excited about her town history research - until demons crash the party. Cas arrives just in time to smite the demons and save Sam, leading to an awkward reunion where everyone's acting suspicious. The real star of the episode? Meg's return! The hosts were thrilled to see her again, though heartbroken by her fate. Found beaten and held hostage by Crowley (with makeup so realistic LA kept asking if they'd let her shower), Meg reveals the demons are searching for an angel tablet in Lucifer's crypts. Her chemistry with Cas was adorable, with references to "the pizza man" and plans that would never come to fruition.Throughout the episode, Cas struggles with Naomi's control, having simultaneous conversations with her and the Winchesters. Dean finally confronts Sam about coughing up blood, with Cas delivering the brutal assessment that Sam is "damaged beyond repair" - way to keep Sammy confident about those trials, guys! The climax brings everyone to an abandoned warehouse hiding Lucifer's crypt. Dean and Cas retrieve the angel tablet, but Naomi orders Cas to kill Dean and take it. In a heartbreaking scene that had the hosts uncomfortable, Cas beats Dean nearly to death before Dean's pleas about family finally break through Naomi's control. Cas heals Dean and disappears with the tablet, vowing to protect it from everyone - including Heaven.Outside, Meg sacrifices herself fighting Crowley's demons, telling Sam to "save my unicorn" (Cas). Her final moment laughing at Crowley before he kills her showed she was at peace, though the hosts wished she'd gotten her moment with Cas first. The episode ends with Cas on a bus hiding from Heaven, the tablet in a duffel bag that really should have been a hard case.Berly and LA loved Meg's return and her scenes with Cas, praised the makeup work on the beaten characters, but expressed frustration with Naomi's unclear motivations. After multiple episodes of her manipulating Cas, they're ready for answers about who she is and what she really wants."I miss the apocalypse's simplicity. I was bad, you were good, life was easier. Now it's all so messy. I'm kind of good, which sucks, and you're kind of bad, which is actually all manner of hot."Sources:https://supernatural.fandom.com/wiki/Goodbye_Strangerhttps://lifehacker.com/entertainment/the-pope-opening-the-tomb-of-luciferSend us your review!Support the showTHANK YOU FOR LISTENING!Please rate and review Denim-Wrapped Nightmares wherever you get your podcasts!

This SPECIAL EPISODE is a tribute to RICK DAVIES, who died this past week at age 81. Rick was the founder of, and one of the two lead singer-songwriters of, Supertramp, one of the greatest bands of the rock era. In 1979 the band hit their zenith with the album “Breakfast In America”, which sold over 20 million records.Rick played keyboards and wrote several of the band's greatest hits. His songs had a blusier, edgier sound to them than those of Roger Hodgson, the other lead songwriter, who wrote more pop oriented songs which he sang in his high tenor voice. Together, however, these two guys provided the yin and yang of Supertramp which defined the band and made them a success.Rick's first band, called Rick's Blues, included Gilbert O'Sullivan on the drums. In August 1969 he placed an ad in Melody Maker seeking to form a new band, and Roger Hodgson auditioned and joined. Supertramp's first successful album was 1974's “Crime Of The Century”. It contained “Bloody Well Right”, Rick's first hit.  The band's breakthrough album was “Breakfast In America”, which contained another Davies hit, “Goodbye Stranger”. Like most rock bands, however, creative differences and jealousies eventually split up Supertramp. But for the time that they were together they were a fantastic, creative band - one of the best of the rock era - under the leadership of Rick Davies.------------------------------------------The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries!Click here for All Episodes Click here for Guest List Click here for Guest Groupings Click here for Guest TestimonialsClick here to Subscribe Click here to receive our Email UpdatesClick here to Rate and Review the podcast—----------------------------------------ROBERT'S NEWEST SINGLE:“SUNDAY SLIDE” is Robert's newest single. On this weeks episode, we take on a big LP, the 1979 monster hit by Supertramp, Breakfast in America. Supertramp struggled early in their career to find an audience. The two main song writers brought different strengths to the band. Founding member Rick Davies leaned more to the progressive rock side of things, where as Roger Hodgson was more pop oriented.  Every album after their breakout LP Crime of the Century showed them gaining popularity. But Breakfast in America is their magnum opus. It is the definitive Supertramp album, the culmination of  Davies and Hodgson blending tier individual strengths into a distinctive sound (aided in no small part by heavy use of a Wurlitzer electric piano).  Full of well crafted (and catchy) tunes like  "The Logical Song," "Take the Long Way Home," and "Goodbye Stranger," and possessing one of the most iconic album covers of all time, Breakfast in America captured the hearts of millions of listeners worldwide. Visit us at www.tappingvinyl.com.

Das sind neben dem Titelsong auch "The Logical Song", "Goodbye Stranger" und "Take The Long Way Home". Ein Jahr später — in neuer Formation — veröffentlichen sie "Crime of the Century". __________ Über diese Songs vom Album "Breakfast in America" wird im Podcast gesprochen (04:49) – "The Logical Song"(14:18) – "Gone Hollywood"(21:40) – "Gone Hollywood"(22:24) – "Child of Vision"(29:24) – "The Logical Song"(48:12) – "Goodbye Stranger"(56:03) – "Breakfast in America"(01:03:54) – "Take the Long Way Home"__________ Über diese Songs wird außerdem im Podcast gesprochen (26:34) – "Here Comes the Sun" von The Beatles(01:40:12) – "Hyper Hyper" von Scooter(01:10:43) – "When We Were Young" von David Guetta und Kim Petras(01:11:07) – "Cry Cry Cry" von Coldplay(01:11:41) – "It Might Be Time" von Tame Impala (Prod. Penn Stated: Talking Penn State Football with Donnie Collins

Mike Yurcich is gone. Penn State's Big Ten championships hopes are, too. James Franklin is under questioning. And the Nittany Lions are going to be under the microscope as the season winds down.On this week's episode of the Penn Stated podcast, hosts Donnie Collins (The Scranton Times-Tribune) and Sam Fremin (The Citizens Voice) break down Franklin's decision to fire Yurcich and pursue his sixth offensive coordinator in 11 seasons. What does it mean for Penn State's head coach, as he approaches what Sam calls the most critical hire of his tenure? And, what traits should he be looking for in the next coordinator? Donnie and Sam both give their thoughts on that, and make their picks.Plus, they discuss why Yurcich failed to get the offense to reach the levels most expected he would, the negative fan reaction after the loss and...of course...2-point conversions and the value of common sense. To contact Donnie, drop an email at dcollins@scrantontimes.com, or send him a message on Twitter @PennStateTT.Listen and subscribe on Apple podcastsListen and subscribe on Google podcastsListen and subscribe on Spotify

Ulla Vangelis – Leslie Reggie Carlisle – John (Beta) Trae Mowaka- Jesse Jack Nash – John (Prime) GM- Tod Foley Ulla sends out her nanobots in an attempt to halt the timing mechanism, while Nash and Trae are quick to fire at the canister and Ulla's swarm diverts to follow it, while Reggie defuses it mentally. The canister is theirs. When Ulla explains how the vortex event seemed like a literal copy of the first time — lighting, shadows and all — Reggie and Nash begin wondering what exactly Wolfram has been doing to the timeline. "Maybe they simply fucked up," says Reggie. "That's how the Frank situation happened." They all tend to Whisper, who seems to be fine, just a little shaken. The Vortex simply shrugged off her powers. Reggie takes advantage of the moment to teach her that it's not all fun and games; sometimes *things push back*. Reggie goes on to explain to Ulla about Flux Storms. He and Nash are growing more convinced that's exactly what's happening here; it's as though someone is using the forces of fundamental chaos to open holes between realities. Trae suggests that may be what happened in this reality instead of Diaspora and his invention of the Slip Capacitor. They move on. Toward evening Nash becomes aware they're being watched, and signals everyone to get down. Trae uses his drone to get eyes on the interloper, a ragged tarp-covered individual who seems to be alone. It turns out to be Ulla's old friend Dril. They catch up for a while, and he tells them he'll run ahead and prepare the clan for their arrival. He's finally succeeded in his old plan to tap into the daily flow of power from the geothermal converter, storing it in a massive battery which they use to power their new home: a medium-sized storage room underground, just beside the plant itself. Kek isn't as sour as expected; in fact everyone's spirits seem to have been lifted by their new surroundings, with powered devices, electric light, music, and all. She's looking forward to setting up some small hydroponic systems for growing food. The kids all get along, and over the next couple days the group takes some time to make sure Reggie's okay with leaving the kid behind. He's really not. He wants to keep the child; to train her to use her powers, and to protect her. Everybody chimes in, making sure to underscore how dangerous it would be to take Whisper with them. Ulla suggests that he can always come back for her. Reggie's still torn. But Beneficent, the clan healer, has noticed Whisper in particular. "Just look at that child's aura," she says, "You can tell she's special." Beneficent doesn't know what to make of Nash, Trae, and (especially) Reggie, but her moral code and belief in magic are enough to get a promise out of her: She'll take good care of Whisper while they're gone. Finally they depart, with teary goodbyes. Reggie promises Whisper that he'll return. "I know you will," says her voice in his mind. "I trust you." Fifteen kilometers out, the group feels that nauseous sensation again: there's a flux storm coming in. When it appears, they find themselves looking at themselves, hitting the ground, crouching for cover, and aiming weapons in this direction. http://daytrippersrpg.com https://www.patreon.com/asif CORE on Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/corerpg/ CORE Discord https://discord.gg/eM5u4XesXr CORE Products: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?filters=100202_0_0_0_0 https://www.etsy.com/shop/MidwestResinGeek https://www.patreon.com/legendsoftabletop Theme music created by Brett Miller http://www.brettmillermusic.net/

Ulla Vangelis – Leslie Reggie Carlisle – John (Beta) Trae Mowaka- Jesse Jack Nash – John (Prime) GM- Tod Foley In the morning, Nash and Ulla discuss what they should do with the children. Trae sleeps late and seems distant, as he's still processing what happened between him and Ulla the night before. The kids are a handful; Noah sometimes picks on Max and Whisper's powers are growing; she uses her mind to coax a rat out of hiding, and in her newfound confidence she steps off the roof of the RV and slows her fall just before hitting the ground. Praised by Reggie, she repeats the feat, to everyone's amusement. It becomes clearer than ever that they can'[t take this child to the city; she'd become a medical experiment. And so they set off to complete their westward journey to the power plant, just half a day away. Ulla keeps the kids busy playing "the finding game" along the way. They're hoping Kek will take the children in, but there's no telling for sure, and in any case, Whisper needs to learn some restraint. Later in the day Nash gets that queasy feeling and Reggie senses it too — they know there's a Reality Fracture coming in. Nash yells "Flux Storm!" as he directs everyone to dive for safety. This is odd because at the same time, Reggie is realizing there's a direct similarity between this feeling and the feeling of being knocked into the Multiversal Chao in a SlipShip. The sensations are practically identical. As they dodge aside from the opening vortex, Ulla realizes the experience itself is practically identical to the first time: the same hallway can be seen, the same canister, and in her photographic memory she can recall that it's even *turned the exact same direction it was* the first time. She directs Whisper to try and make the thing go away. Whisper tries to close the vortex with her mind, but she can't do it, and develops a serious nosebleed. Reggie lucid-dreams the vortex back to oblivion, leaving the canister behind. If this plays out like last time they have just a few seconds before it opens up. http://daytrippersrpg.com https://www.patreon.com/asif CORE on Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/corerpg/ CORE Discord https://discord.gg/eM5u4XesXr CORE Products: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?filters=100202_0_0_0_0 https://www.etsy.com/shop/MidwestResinGeek https://www.patreon.com/legendsoftabletop Theme music created by Brett Miller http://www.brettmillermusic.net/
