On the bright side, IEA predicts 17mEV to be sold this year, EV and Hybrids reach 50% market share in China for Q1, more than 500 EV models are currently on the market. On the dark side, Tesla and BYD deliveries were down in Q1_24, Tesla revenues were down 9% compared to Q1_23 and the price war has cut the EPS in 2.Has Tesla lost its mojo or will Elon refocus and reboot. Lots of announcements, but also a 10% cut in the workforce, and a depressed share price. Meanwhile the “Oil Street Journal” and other publications have been repeating ad nauseum (but falsely) that the EV Story is over.In fact, EV sales in Q1 2024 were 21% higher than Q1 2023. China led the way with at 31% growth with the US and Canada at 13%, and EU and EFTA trailing behind at a 7%. Removal of the BEV subsidies in Germany showing their full impact there.There are also a lot of questions about protectionism, as Elon Musk just declared that “Chinese automakers would "demolish" most of the world's other car companies if there were no trade barriers. Our observation is generally that the Chinese car companies are the most competitive car companies in the world,"To discuss this and the future of the EV market, Laurent brought James Carter to discuss all those news. Hello my friends and welcome to this week's episode of Motivational Moments with Maria.  I'm your host Coach Maria and thrilled to be here with you.  My intent with this weekly podcast is to bring you some thoughts and ideas to keep you on your journey to live a fully productive, vibrant and joyful life.As I love to do, I want to get those brain cells active so I am going to open up with a question for you.  Have you ever had a bad moment in your day?  Of course, you have. Who hasn't.   We all have.  The question is, how do you bounce back after something or someone throws you off your game today?Let me give you a quick scenario. You wake up and your feet hit the ground and you are fired up and ready to win the day.Then, as you stumble to the bathroom, you stub your toe.  Do you let it mess up your head for the whole day?  Of course not.  Oooops. Take ownership.  It was my bad because I left my shoes out and tripped over them. That's the spirit.That's an easy one.  But what about those moments when you get cut off on your commute or you receive a call that your big client has cancelled her order.  Shittake big time.  It's only 10:00am.  Do you allow this news to ruin your day and go hide in the corner?Some of you say yes it does and just blow the rest of the day off.  However, studies from the High Performance Institute reveal that you, yes you, Mr. or Ms. High Performer know that you have the ability to re-set your day so you can win the remainder of the day. Don't let those hours go to waste complaining to someone about getting cut off or getting an order cancelled.  I know some of you had already added up the commission on a sale and then devasated when that cancellation comes through. Listen in for some insights on how to re-set and win the day.  

Putin has demanded that all oil and gas purchases be paid for in rubles. SILLY the US media said. But then they noticed the fact that Russia has tied its currency to gold which trades in dollars. Oooops!! Putin has brilliantly set a floor for rubles to the dollar and in so doing strengthened his currency. I'd say Mr. Putin just said "CHECK" to Mr. Biden.

Got to our website for extras!This week we're talking about the film Judas and the Black Messiah and the finales of The Stand and Your Honor. But first, Elaine starts talking about how she went out for a ride last week and how COVID-19 numbers are down, and before ya know it, she was in a full-blown political rant. So buckle up for that.  But political outrage turned out to be a perfect segue into our first topic this week.Judas and the Black Messiah (HBO Max) is the story of the life and events leading up to Black Panther Fred Hampton's death. With knockout performances by Daniel Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield and a supporting cast including Jesse Plemons, Martin Sheen, and one of our favorite actors from The Deuce, Dominique Fishback, Judas, and the Black Messiah is a likely shoo-in at Oscar time. The real playersWe learned a lot from this film, even though we thought we knew the history. And, like we always do, after seeing a "based on a true story" movie, we dug a little deeper. Here's a side-by-side featuring the real people next to the actors who portrayed them. (see our site )What the movie doesn't tell you.In the movie, Hampton and O'Neal are played by Kaluuya and Standfield, 31 and 29 years old. Hampton was only 21 years old at the time of his death.  But, what people don't know is that William O'Neal was only 17 years old when the FBI sent him in to infiltrate the Black Panthers. We think this is important and may impact how people judge O'Neal, who took his own life on MLK day after PBS aired his interview on Eyes on the Prize.Hampton's widow and son. Deborah Johnson gave birth shortly after Fred Hampton's death. She was 19 years old. She named the baby Alfred Johnson, but at the age of 10, changed his name to Fred Hampton jr. She changed her name to Akua Njeri.Njeri is still active in the civil rights movement today.  Hampton Jr is Chairman of The Black Panther Party Cubs.  As we mentioned on the show, Fred Jr has a Go Fund Me to help restore his father's childhood home. Check it out here.We promoted The Stand so hard on this podcast. And we try hard not to steer our listeners to anything that we didn't like ourselves. So now we find ourselves in the awkward position of having to say Oooops!!  We're sorry!On the flip side, we were delighted with the Showtime limited series's finale, Your Honor. Some people are calling the finale "poetic justice."  We don't exactly see it that way.  Shakespearean, yes.  Just, Nah! For anyone who gave a couple of episodes and gave up, we say, give it another chance. It pays off!
