We hear conflicting messages regarding the status of the EV market. On the bright side, IEA predicts 17mEV to be sold this year, EV and Hybrids reach 50% market share in China for Q1, more than 500 EV models are currently on the market. On the dark side, Tesla and BYD deliveries were down in Q1_24, Tesla revenues were down 9% compared to Q1_23 and the price war has cut the EPS in 2.Has Tesla lost its mojo or will Elon refocus and reboot. Lots of announcements, but also a 10% cut in the workforce, and a depressed share price. Meanwhile the “Oil Street Journal” and other publications have been repeating ad nauseum (but falsely) that the EV Story is over.In fact, EV sales in Q1 2024 were 21% higher than Q1 2023. China led the way with at 31% growth with the US and Canada at 13%, and EU and EFTA trailing behind at a 7%. Removal of the BEV subsidies in Germany showing their full impact there. There are also a lot of questions about protectionism, as Elon Musk just declared that “Chinese automakers would "demolish" most of the world's other car companies if there were no trade barriers. Our observation is generally that the Chinese car companies are the most competitive car companies in the world,"To discuss this and the future of the EV market, Laurent brought James Carter to discuss all those news. James is a friend of the show and one of the top Auto experts in the world based in Toronto, Canada. And Gerard will be back with us next week. He was simply too busy successfully selling our German Rooftop Solar company Febesol to Thermondo. But that is a story for another day.The pod has just been named number 1 Energy Transition show. Thank you, guys. We love you all.--------PS: when referring to our friend Roger Atkins, Laurent said “Shanghai Auto Show”. Oooops its was Beijing Auto China from which he brings back wondrous stories, including a meeting with the legend Robin Zheng, CATL founder.

At the Shanghai Auto Show, the brand held an ice cream giveaway and their supply for the public was quickly exhausted. While this isn't surprising, video of a ‘foreigner' getting ice cream after Chinese citizens were turned away has sparked outrage. A source said the company planned to give out 300 servings of ice cream to visitors, but some servings were apparently held back for employees and the ‘foreigner' in the video reportedly worked for BMW. The situation is far from shocking, but the optics were bad and the company had no idea they were about to enrage millions of people.周邦琴Albert●没有名牌大学背景,没有英语专业背景●没有国外留学经历,没有英语生活环境●22岁成为500强公司英文讲师,录音素材全球员工使用●自学成为同声传译,25岁为瑞士总统翻译

Lucid Motors has announced its expansion into Norway, one of the most advanced markets for EVs globally, following successful launches in North America and the United Arab Emirates. The company will launch its flagship electric sedan, the Lucid Air, in Norway in the coming months and plans to open showrooms in Oslo and Bergen later this year. Ford is adding a "burnout mode" to its electric cars, allowing the vehicles to spin their wheels without moving. The feature will be available on all of Ford's electric vehicles, including the Mustang Mach-E GT, and is sure to appeal to car enthusiasts. Chinese automaker Geely's subsidiary, Lynk & Co, has launched its first electric vehicle, the Zero Concept, at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show. The EV has a range of up to 435 miles, cutting-edge technology, and is aimed at urban, younger drivers, with a subscription service that includes insurance and maintenance. Toyota has announced that the BZ3, its first electric vehicle co-developed with BYD, has rolled off the production line. The compact SUV will have a range of around 250 miles, advanced driver assistance systems, and will be launched in China first. Lamborghini is reportedly set to introduce its first-ever plug-in hybrid vehicle, the 2024 Lamborghini Urus Plug-in Hybrid. The car is expected to offer an electric driving range of about 30 miles, an 800-hp power output, and will be built on the same platform as the current Urus model. Volvo has delivered 20 electric trucks to DFDS in Gothenburg to be used for distribution and delivery services. DFDS aims to transition to electric trucks to reduce its carbon footprint and improve air quality in urban areas. Colorado has released its Electric Vehicle (EV) Plan to accelerate EV adoption with a goal of installing 500,000 charging ports by 2030, increasing EV availability through incentives, and addressing equity concerns. The plan takes a comprehensive approach to expanding EV infrastructure, promoting consumer awareness and education, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Tesla is among several companies reviewing their investments in Europe to comply with the IRA announced by President Biden, which aims to reduce electronic waste. The company is committed to environmental sustainability and actively seeking ways to comply with the IRA, including reviewing its Gigafactory in Berlin. Turkey has imposed a 40% additional tariff on electric vehicle imports from China starting from March 2023 to boost local production and employment. This decision aligns with Turkey's goal to reduce its reliance on foreign imports and increase domestic production while presenting opportunities for other countries to expand their electric vehicle exports to Turkey. California's Independent System Operator (CAISO) has raised concerns over whether the state's power grid can manage the surge in electric vehicles (EVs). A 15-fold increase in EVs could result in a 25% increase in electricity demand in California by 2045, but the report suggests that the challenges can be mitigated with proper planning, investment in renewable energy, and implementation of programs to incentivize charging during off-peak hours. Li Auto's CEO, Li Xiang, predicts that the price of lithium carbonate will drop by up to 40% in the next year due to an increase in production capacity and supply chain improvements, which will benefit the electric vehicle industry. This decrease in prices will make electric vehicles more accessible to consumers and lead to lower costs for manufacturers. Automakers such as Volkswagen and General Motors are investing in and partnering with mining startups and junior mining companies to secure a steady supply of minerals needed for EV batteries. However, these partnerships present challenges, including lack of experience and infrastructure for large-scale mining operations, and navigating the complexities of the mining industry.

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Friday 4th June. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. FORD PRODUCTION OF ELECTRIC MUSTANG EXCEEDS GAS-POWERED MODELS"Ford Motor Co. surpassed a significant milestone in its conversion to electric vehicles, producing more battery-powered Mustangs so far this year than gasoline-fueled versions of its iconic pony car. Ford has built 27,816 electric Mustang Mach-E models at a plant in Mexico this year compared to 26,089 copies of the traditional internal combustion engine Mustang at a factory in Michigan, according to production data the automaker released Thursday." reports Bloomberg Hyperdrive: "The Mach-E went on sale late last year and was the top-selling vehicle in Norway last month. In the U.S., where EV adoption is slower, the gas Mustang still outsells the electric version by nearly three-to-one." Chief Executive Officer Jim Farley: "Mach-E has been much stronger than we expected, so we’ve totally run out of stock. Mach-E is going global as we speak, but in the U.S. the wait for a Mach-E is months.” https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-06-03/ford-production-of-electric-mustang-exceeds-gas-powered-pony-car CHINA SALES - XPENG AND NIO"Xpeng reports 5,686 electric car deliveries in May, which is 484% more than a year ago and the third-best monthly result ever. The Chinese manufacturer is especially happy about the record sales of its P7 flagship, which noted 3,797 units." says InsideEVs: "The most important factors that drive the sales up are the new P7 Wing edition and the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery-powered G3 and P7 versions. If Xpeng will continue to increase the volume, it might really come close to NIO, the other well-known Chinese electric car startup." NIO delivered 6,711 vehicles in May 2021, representing a solid 95.3% year-over-year growth. The deliveries consisted of 1,412 ES8s, the company’s six-seater and seven-seater flagship premium smart electric SUV, 3,017 ES6s, the company’s five-seater high-performance premium smart electric SUV, and 2,282 EC6s, the company’s five-seater premium smart electric coupe SUV. https://insideevs.com/news/511568/xpeng-ev-sales-may-2021/?utm_source=RSS&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=RSS-all-articles NEW GENERATION OF MG ELECTRIC CARS ARE COMING TO EUROPE"MG has been selling the ZS EV in Europe for a while now. The ZS EV belongs to the first generation of MG electric cars and honestly I never payed much attention to it. As most first generation electric cars, the MG ZS EV isn’t very efficient and only gets a WLTP range of 263 km from a CATL 44,5 kWh battery pack. Its front grill makes it look like a gas car and suggests that GM didn’t care much about aerodynamics when designed it." says PushEVs: "MG is about to bring its second generation of all-electric cars to Europe. They will be better looking, more efficient, charge faster and have longer range. Two models are already confirmed. The two electric cars above look great, but there is another one that’ll be way more important in Europe, an electric supermini expected later this year to compete with the Renault ZOE. The new electric supermini could be named MG3 Electric." The new charging stations will be owned and operated by 7‑Eleven, which already has 22 charging stations located at 14 stores in 4 states." says ChargedEVs: ". 7‑Eleven is purchasing 100% wind energy for over 800 stores in Texas and over 300 in Illinois. In Virginia, 150 stores are using hydropower, and 300 Florida stores are powered by solar energy." https://chargedevs.com/newswire/7-eleven-to-install-500-fast-charging-stations-by-the-end-of-2022/ TESLA OWNER APOLOGIZES FOR STAGING “BRAKE FAILURE” INCIDENT IN CHINA"A Tesla owner in China issued a public apology on social media and admitted to staging a “brake failure” incident with his Model X. The recent TikTok video was among a recent wave of public apologies in China, as Tesla’s legal team initiates a crackdown on inaccurate reports and false posts that could damage the company." reports Teslarati: "In his apology, the Tesla owner admitted that his Model X never had any issues with regards to its brakes over the three years he owned the vehicle. The EV owner also remarked that the TikTok skit, which was supposed to show a Model X “brake failure” incident, was for entertainment purposes only. Tesla has been improving its customer relations in China over the past months. Following the international coverage of the disgruntled Model 3 owner’s protest at the Shanghai Auto Show, Tesla established a “Special Handling Team” to address special customer concerns." https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-fake-brake-failure-apology-china/ MUSK: PANIC BUYING CHIPS IS LIKE RUSH ON TOILET PAPER"Elon Musk said the chip shortage is wreaking havoc on Tesla Inc.’s supply chain and blamed companies ordering more microcontrollers than they need, much like consumers hoarded toilet paper in the early days of the pandemic." says Automotive News: "Musk, 49, said during Tesla’s first-quarter earnings call in April that the chip shortage was a “huge problem” and one of the most difficult supply chain challenges the company had ever experienced. Last month, the consulting firm AlixPartners estimated automakers will lose about $110 billion of sales this year due to the dearth of semiconductors, almost double an earlier projection. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. said last month it plans to increase production of microcontroller units by 60 percent this year to help relieve carmakers. Still, chip companies, auto manufacturers and their parts suppliers have warned chip supplies will remain tight into next year." “Our biggest challenge is supply chain, especially microcontroller chips. Never seen anything like it,” the CEO tweeted Wednesday. “Fear of running out is causing every company to overorder – like the toilet paper shortage, but at epic scale.” https://www.autonews.com/automakers-suppliers/musk-says-panic-buying-chips-rush-toilet-paper VOLVO IS LAUNCHING THE C40 RECHARGE IN THE NETHERLANDS, NORWAY"Volvo has opened the order books for the C40 Recharge in the first European countries. The second electric model in the Swedish companies’ current range is available to order now in the Netherlands and Norway and from 3 June in Sweden and the UK. Other markets will follow in the coming weeks." says Chris Randall at electrive: "Volvo had introduced the C40 Recharge as a spin-off of the XC40 Recharge in early March. Both vehicles use the same drive system of the CMA platform, i.e. they have 300 kW power and a 78 kWh battery. Volvo has given the C40 some independent elements on the body, for example on the headlights or the rear doors. This is why the C40 Recharge is listed as a separate model and not as the XC40 Recharge Coupé." https://www.electrive.com/2021/06/02/volvo-is-launching-the-c40-recharge-in-the-netherlands-norway/ AUDI Q4 E-TRON TAKES AUTOBAHN ACCELERATION TEST"Audi is a rare example of a premium automaker that knows how to make small cars. And the most significant model right now is the Q4 e-tron that just launched in Germany." reports Auto Evolution: "The small A3 and Q3 compacts have been successful, but as the market is shifting in favor of EVs, Audi needed something special. The Q4 e-tron is that vehicle. The Q4 has twin motors, like the ID.4 GTX, which isn't on sale yet. It produces 302 hp (306 PS) in German spec, about as much as an old Golf R. Naturally, the battery pack makes it much heavier. But the official 0 to 62 mph time of 6.2 seconds was actually beaten by Auditography, which got 5.99 seconds. Meanwhile, Automann-TV got 6.35 seconds on the Autobahn, which is still pretty good." https://www.autoevolution.com/news/audi-q4-e-tron-takes-autobahn-acceleration-test-is-gti-fast-162400.html QUESTION OF THE WEEK WITH EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM What kind of charging do you think workplaces should have? For this week's episode, we talk Shanghai Auto Show focusing on announcements and product reveals from the foreign automakers.
In this week's episode, Tu & Lei continue their talk about the Shanghai Auto Show focusing on announcements and product reveals from the domestic automakers, technology companies, and EV startups.
Automakers constantly roll out concepts and make statements about their electric future, and it seems (most) automakers are actually starting to follow through in big ways. In this episode, Jo and Matt talk about some of the highlights coming out of the Shanghai auto show and how different automakers are handling the transition to an electric future.
One of the smaller pieces of news coming out of the Shanghai Auto Show last week was the unveiling of new, and more colorful versions of China’s most popular electric car.Standing out more than the new yellow, pink and green versions of the Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV is its price tag. Introduced last summer at base prices of under $4,400, the new models will be staying as light on the pocket book as they do no the road. While the scaled down model will retain its $4,400 price tag, models with upgraded safety features and creature comforts like air conditioning will range from $5,700 to $6,700.The vehicle, which is about 2/3 the size of a traditional sedan, is made by SAIC-GM, a state-backed entity partially owned by GM. It features a top speed of 63 mph and has a full-charge range of just over 100 miles. The electric format, combined with a lower price point has made these tiny cars a hit, registering nearly twice as many sales in China as Tesla. .
Being a foreign reporter in China in 2021 used to be a wide-open and exciting adventure. No more. Today, foreign journalists are constantly monitored, their travel is limited and fewer Chinese people feel free to speak with them. CNBC Beijing Bureau Chief Eunice Yoon is one of only a handful of American reporters still operating in Beijing in 2021. Many others have had to leave China for reasons of personal security or because their visas were not renewed. Since arriving in China in the early 2000s, Ms Yoon has traveled to scores of cities and interviewed hundreds of executives, government officials and ordinary people on the street. In this episode, we find out who was Ms Yoon's single favorite interviewee and why. Ms Yoon also talks about how escalating US-China tensions are impacting foreign media operating in China. We also learn from Eunice what happened when she walked this Shanghai Auto Show in April with two young guns - diehard Tesla owners.#WinningInAsia / #ZozoGo https://twitter.com/Dunne_ZoZoGohttps://www.instagram.com/zo.zo.go/?hl=enhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-dunne-a696901a/

VOLKSWAGEN ID.4 SURVIVES MEXICAN 1000 OFF-ROAD RACE - Racer Tanner Foust has competed in countless long-distance off-road races, but after bringing the all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 home after the National Off-Road Racing Association (NORRA) Mexican 1000 off-road event on the Baja Peninsula, he was surprised. This was the first time he and co-driver Emme Hall contested a 1,000-mile race without a single mechanical problem. - the only electric vehicle entered in the event. - To charge the ID.4 in the wilds of Baja, the Volkswagen team will use a portable biofuel generator powering a 50-kW portable fast charger. As the NORRA Mexico 1000 race will be run in loops due to COVID travel restrictions, the team will attempt to complete about 98 percent of the stages in the loop event without the need for recharging. - The interior of the ID.4 has been stripped of features such as the HVAC system and modified with a roll cage, safety racing seats and supplemental screens for key data like battery temperature. - Foust noted that their main issue was charge time; he and Hall could travel similar distances to their ICE counterparts, but they needed to wait longer to fill up the battery. At the Shanghai Auto Show, Honda announced its plans to introduce 10 electric vehicles for China in the next five years, and the Honda SUV e:Prototype is a preview of its first electric SUV to be sold in that country. It's unclear whether this SUV, or any of the 10 EVs slated for China, will be sold in America. With the Honda e electric city hatchback receiving good reviews, it only makes sense that Honda would follow up with a similar concept in a crossover form factor. It's said to depend heavily on voice recognition, and will be able to operate smart home appliances, enable online shopping while driving, access vehicle functions via a smartphone, and update software over-the-air. There's nothing related to range, power, fast charging capacity, or any of the other questions EV owners care about, which might be a tell at how far back Honda has been (and will continue to be) in the electric vehicle market. BYD has announced at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show an all-new e-platform 3.0 for the next-generation electric vehicles as well as unveiling the all-new hatchback EA1 model. The largest battery pack options should translate into a range of up to 600 miles (965 km) NEDC, probably closer to 400-450 miles (644-724 km) in the real world. The battery system will be 800 V, which will increase the overall efficiency, as well as allow to fast charge very quickly: 5 minutes to replenish 90 miles (145 km) at the peak. There is a new 8-in-1 module for the drive system for outstanding performance (0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds) and a new heat pump to minimize range loss from heating in winter. The BYD EA1 also has a variety of customizable trim options. LYRIQ EV KILLS COMBUSTION SIBLINGS AT CADILLAC "Strikingly similar to the concept revealed last year, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will arrive in the first half of 2022, priced starting just under $60,000. Reservations open in September." repotrs Car & Driver: "As part of the announcement, Cadillac vice-president Rory Harvey said we will not get another new Cadillac model with an internal-combustion engine. It's all electric from now on, in North America at least. More than 300 miles of range on a full charge, a 19.2-kW onboard charger, Super Cruise, and a 33-inch screen put the Lyriq right in line with other upscale EVs being offered in the coming years." "Cadillac is expected to lead GM’s plans to exclusively offer EVs by 2035. That includes at least 30 new EVs by 2025 under a $27 billion investment plan in electric and autonomous vehicles during that time frame." says CNBC.com: "The Lyriq, starting at $59,990, will be among the first to market with GM’s next-generation EV platform and battery system, known as Ultium. The vehicle will only come in one configuration for the first model year to simplify production. The Lyriq’s interior, like the show car, also features a curved 33-inch-diagonal advanced LED screen the spans the entire viewing area of the driver." "Reservations for the two-row, five-passenger crossover with the rakish rear window will open in September and production begins at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee in the first quarter of 2022. Oh, and the attainable pricing rings in below the $71,000 Jaguar I-Pace and the $67,000 Audi E-Tron." says Motortrend: "The rear-wheel-drive Lyriq will deliver 340 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque (Cadillac is—weirdly—badging new models based on torque measured in newton-meters; in American figures that's 325 lb-ft) and is expected to have a range of more than 300 miles on a single charge. With fast charging, the Lyriq can add about 76 miles of driving range in 10 minutes. The first-release models will come with a standard 19.2-kW Level 2 charging module. The Lyriq has one-pedal driving and...Like all Cadillacs going forward, the Lyriq has available Super Cruise" https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a36180883/2023-cadillac-lyriq-details-specs/ https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/21/cadillac-rolls-out-its-60000-lyriq-ev-as-it-phases-out-gas-engines.html https://www.motortrend.com/news/2023-cadillac-lyriq-first-look-review/ LARGEST ELECTRIC VEHICLE ORDER FOR VOLVO TRUCKS FROM QCD "Volvo Truck’s largest electric vehicle order has been placed in California. Quality Custom Distribution (QCD), a national food service logistics supplier, has ordered the vehicles. The 14 VNR Electric models trucks will be deployed in the operator’s Southern California last-mile delivery routes." ays Trucking Mag: "Volvo Trucks began taking customer orders for its VNR Electric model last December. Following the truck’s introduction, it has multiple customer deliveries scheduled throughout 2021." https://truckingmag.co.uk/news/largest-electric-vehicle-order-for-volvo-trucks-from-qcd/ AUSTRALIANS SAY GOVERNMENT POLICY BLOCKS EV SUPPLY "Surveys show Australians want to buy electric vehicles (EVs), but they continue to languish at less than 1 per cent of new car sales. What's going on is complex and takes us down a twisting path of carbon targets, "super credits" and other matters that people outside the auto industry generally don't pay much attention to. At the end of this path, however, is an obvious fact: EVs that sell well in Europe, the US and UK are simply not available in Australia." reports abc.net.au: "Volkswagen, which is on track to become the world's largest EV maker, sold 212,000 EVs worldwide in 2020. Not one of those was in Australia. The top-selling electric car in Europe in 2020, the Volkswagen ID.3, won't be launched in Australia until at least 2023, its maker says. The number of models that are made available directly correlates to the uptake of EVs, according to modelling conducted by Energeia for the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) in 2016. There are no national incentives directly aimed at making EVs more affordable. Volkswagen says it will ship EVs to Australia if the government introduces EU-style mandatory carbon targets backed up with fines. This would solve the supply shortage by giving car makers a greater financial incentive to ship EVs to Australia" https://www.abc.net.au/news/science/2021-04-20/australians-want-to-buy-electric-cars-what-is-stopping-us/100071550 OXIS ENERGY SET TO MAKE SOLID-STATE LITHIUM-SULFUR CELL OXIS Energy will deploy Solid-State Lithium Sulfur (Li-S) cell and battery systems to its clients and partners worldwide by Autumn 2021 for use in trials, proof of concept and demonstrator battery systems for the Aviation, Marine, Defence and Heavy electric Vehicles (HEV) sectors. OXIS has been collaborating with European manufacturers on the development of Solid-State Li-S technology for almost 4 years. As a result of a technological breakthrough three years ago, OXIS has filed 9 new families of patents to protect both Quasi and Solid-State Intellectual Property Rights. The attraction of OXIS cells for vehicle markets, is that on average, the battery systems are up to 60% lighter than conventional Li-ion battery systems. OXIS will commercialize the mass production of the chemical composition of its Quasi and Solid-State cell at its Welsh Plant in Port Talbot, UK. The cells will be mass produced at its cell manufacturing plant in Juiz de Fora, in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Unlike Li-ion, the cells chemistry manufactured by OXIS Energy does not contain cobalt, manganese, nickel or copper, all of which present serious supply chain and environmental concerns. https://oxisenergy.com/news/press/ BYD INTRODUCES 800V E-PLATFORM 3.0 "BYD has announced at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show an all-new e-platform 3.0 for the next-generation electric vehicles. YD adds that the e-platform 3.0 will continue to be open to the industry - other brands. So far, BYD's solutions were used by Mercedes-Benz (Denza joint venture), Toyota, and Didi Chuxing. BYD underlines that the new platform not only further integrates and standardizes core components, "but also builds a brand-new body structure, digital and electrical architecture, and a revamped BYD vehicle operating system." writes InsideEVs: "In the e-platform 3.0 we can find affordable BYD Blade Battery LFP chemistry in cell-to-pack (CTP) system (without modules), which is integrated into the vehicle structure. The largest battery pack options should translate into a range of up to 600 miles (965 km) NEDC, probably closer to 400-450 miles (644-724 km) in the real world. The battery system will be 800 V, which will increase the overall efficiency, as well as allow to fast charge very quickly: 5 minutes to replenish 90 miles (145 km) at the peak." https://insideevs.com/news/502427/byd-eplatform3-ea1-x-dream/ FIA ELECTRIC GT NEW TECH REGULATIONS "The international motorsport body today introduced the specs of its GT race series that includes a crazy-fast but also crazy-necessary charging rate of 700kW. The Federation International de l’Automobile (FIA) today released the new regulations that can be seen below and include up to four electric motors, 87kWh total battery capacity, 430kW max power, estimated 2.4 second 0-100kph time, and top speed of 300kph (186mph) as well as 700kW regen and max charging speed." says electrek: " At 700kW, that is a 4.5 minute pit stop. While that doesn’t compare to the almost instantaneous F1 pit stops and car swaps that we saw in Formula E, the technology does bode well for the auto industry that the FIA is feeding. The all-electric GT series hopes to trickle technology into road cars, and the 700kW fast-charging technology would be game over for gasoline at the gas station, charging 70kW of battery in just six minutes. That’s barely enough time for a bathroom break." https://electrek.co/2021/04/21/fia-electric-gt-new-tech-regs-include-lightning-fast-700kw-charging/ QUESTION OF THE WEEK WITH EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM Would you buy a Chinese-made EV? Even though Audi already has a big, luxurious electric sedan with the E-Tron GT, it has just shown a design study for another, the Audi A6 E-Tron. Just like the E-Tron GT and Taycan, it can rapid charge at very high rates (up to 270 kW) Audi claims it can travel for up to 435 miles on one charge, based on the WLTP test cycle. The A6 E-Tron charges from 5 to 80 percent in under 25 minutes and that 10 minutes of charging add over 186 miles of range. Accelerates at 0-62mph in under 4sec with a drag coefficient of 0.22 (not quite as low as the Mercedes-Benz EQS' 0.20). The most notable feature includes matrix LED headlights that can also project images, movies, and video games. Audi claims that the first production vehicle to be underpinned by its PPE platform will arrive in the second half of 2022.Audi A6 E-Tron website ➜ http://bit.ly/audietrona6Bookkeeping For Your Small Business ➜ https://bench.grsm.io/paulbarron8134#Audi #A6 #ETRON~Audi A6 E-Tron Has Movie Projector Headlights | Shanghai Auto Show Reveal~⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺Subscribe on YouTube ✅ https://bit.ly/PBNYoutubeSubscribeFacebook
Today, Genesis officially introduced its first-ever EV model, the Electrified G80, to the global market at the 2021 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2021). The estimated maximum range per charge is more than 500km (Based on the Korean EV certification system, the company estimated number is 427 km. Range may vary based on region.). 350kW rapid charging enables the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes. Accelerates from 0 to 60 mph just in 4.9 seconds. The charging door is located in the grille's upper right corner, and is invisible when closed. More information on the Electrified G80 in the United States and Canada will be shared later this year, including further details about North American specifications.Genesis Electrified G80 website ➜ http://bit.ly/GenesisG80EVBookkeeping For Your Small Business ➜ https://bench.grsm.io/paulbarron8134#Genesis #G80 #EV~Genesis "Electrified" G80 Reveal | Shanghai Auto Show~⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺⎺Subscribe on YouTube ✅ https://bit.ly/PBNYoutubeSubscribeFacebook
Ora is one of the brands of Great Wall. Ora Punk Cat is a copycat of the Volkswagen Beetle. Of the four vehicles Ora currently sells, three are named after cats: Good Cat, White Cat, and Black Cat. Auto Shanghai 2021 brought another one apart from the Punk Cat: the Lightning Cat, a smaller Porsche-like design that's a tad more for the serious crowd. The Punk Cat is a vehicle that the company hopes to appeal to women with Disney princess-like designing. The Lightning Cat features bright orange upholstery and a widescreen infotainment system, plus a second touchscreen on the center spine. The car manufacturer says the eventual production model will be able to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds. EV family Show #1056 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Monday 19th April. MERCEDES LAUNCHES EQB - THIRD ELECTRIC MODEL THIS YEAR "Mercedes is ramping up its assault on the battery-car market with the launch of the new EQB sport-utility vehicle at the Shanghai Auto Show. Available with up to seven seats, the EQB debuts barely a week after the automaker unveiled its all-electric flagship, the EQS, the latter to serve as the battery-powered alternative to the classic Mercedes-Benz S-Class" reports The Detroit Bureau: " the Mercedes EQB’s dimensions are nearly identical to those of the conventional GLB crossover. But, like the rest of the new Mercedes EQ family, the new model mounts batteries, motors and other key electrical components below the load floor in a skateboard-like platform. The new model also integrates what Mercedes calls “Navigation with Electric Intelligence” which, it says, “contributes to the effortless handling of the EQB in everyday life. It calculates the fastest route to the destination, taking into account maximum charging power and the duration of possible charging stops." https://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2021/04/with-eqc-mercedes-launches-third-all-electric-model-this-year/ "Due to go on sale in Europe and China later this year, the EQB will make its way stateside in 2022, targeting a group of competitors that seems to expand with each passing season. Just like the recently-revealed EQA, the EQB trades the grille of its gas-engined sibling for a nose cone with a glass finish" says Autoweek: "When it comes to the drivetrain, the EQB will be offered with all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive, at least in Europe. When it goes on sale there later this year the electric SUV will draw juice from a 66.5-kWh battery, giving it 268 hp in the 4Matic version and a range of about 260 miles in the WLTP cycle." https://www.autoweek.com/news/green-cars/a36174507/mercedes-benz-eqb-debuts-in-shanghai-but-well-have-to-wait-for-it/ GM & LG ENERGY COMMIT TO SECOND BATTERY FACTORY IN TENNESSEE "General Motors is expanding its battery-building base. Ultium Cells LLC, a joint venture company owned by GM and LG Energy Solution, announced April 16 that it will construct a second plant for manufacturing electric vehicle batteries. GM says the new, 2.8-million-square-foot plant will cost $2.3 billion and create 1,300 new manufacturing jobs." according to Industry Week: "The new factory will be located in Spring Hill, Tennessee, where it will supply General Motors’ nearby Spring Hill assembly plant, which GM said last October would transition to produce electric-only vehicles like the latest Cadillac models. GM and LG first announced the battery joint venture Ultium in 2019, when it announced the construction of a $2.3 billion battery R&D center and factory in Lordstown, Ohio. That location is slated to become operational sometime in 2022." https://www.industryweek.com/leadership/growth-strategies/article/21161492/gm-lg-announce-new-23-billion-tennessee-ev-battery-plant POLESTAR 1 SPECIAL EDITION "The Polestar 1 gets a limited-run special edition that wears a whole lot of gold in China. The company is making just 25 of them, and production begins later in the year. These cars wear a matte gold body, including the badges. The colour also shows up on the brake callipers. There are gloss black elements in the grille and portions of the lower fascia. Big black wheels fill the wings/fenders." says Motor1: "The Polestar 1 packs a supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder with two electric motors. This setup makes 611 bhp and 738 pound-feet, which is enough for the coupe to reach 60 miles per hour in 4.2 seconds. The WLTP rating indicates the car can cover 77 miles purely on electric power." https://uk.motor1.com/news/502108/polestar-1-special-edition-gold/ KIA RECEIVES OVER 1,000 EV6 PRE-ORDERS IN UK ALONE "The British division of Kia announced that to date (April 19), the company has received more than 1,000 pre-reservations for the all-new EV6 model in the UK. That's a significant number, considering just a single country. Together with other countries, Europe might turn out to be a bigger market for the EV6 than South Korea, where Kia received over 21,000 reservations on the first day." says Mark Kane for InsideEVs: "The pre-reservation window, with £100 refundable deposit (€100 in most of Europe) will end on April 30. The first EV6 and EV6 GT-line will arrive in the UK in October 2021. The prices in the UK are: EV6: from £40,895" https://insideevs.com/news/502052/kia-ev6-1000-preorders-uk/ BMW IX MAKES ITS WORLD DEBUT AT SHANGHAI SHOW "As part of show-and-tell day at the 2021 Shanghai auto show, BMW was on hand to roll out in person the upcoming iX all-electric SUV for the world to see." says auto123.com: "The BMW iX is noteworthy for a number of reasons, starting of course with its all-electric powertrain. But the model is also the first BMw to get the automaker’s brand-new Operating System 8 and the latest edition of the iDrive system. The future flagship model for BMW’s elctric division is constructed on the latest, 5th generation BMW eDrive platform, also tabbed for use with the iX3 and i4 models we’ve seen previewed in recent months. The system is designed around two electric motors that together develop around 500 hp, and a battery pack with a capacity greater than 100 kWh." 600km range, 200kW charging. https://www.auto123.com/en/news/bmw-ix-electric-suv-presented-shanghai/68044/ HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION BEGINS ELECTRIFICATION WITH TESLA DELIVERY “The Hawaii Department of Transportation picked up its first electric vehicle — a white Tesla — on Tuesday as the result of an innovative service contract that is expected to help electrify its entire light duty fleet. Eventually, nine EVs will replace regular vehicles used by the State Highways division, with another 34 expected to be delivered to DOT by the end of May." says the Hawaii Star Advertiser: "Under the 10-year service contract, state and county agencies do not have to purchase EVs upfront, but can procure them, as well as the necessary charging infrastructure, on a per-mile cost basis." https://www.staradvertiser.com/2021/04/14/breaking-news/hawaii-department-of-transportation-begins-electrification-with-tesla-delivery/ VOLKSWAGEN EXPANDS ID. EV FAMILY "Volkswagen is expanding the ID. family of electric vehicles with a GTX performance line. Volkswagen will show the new ID.4 GTX on 28 April. In Europe, the respective performance models of the ID. Family will wear the logo GTX in the future. Similar to GTI and GTE. The GTX models feature an additional electric motor on the front axle bringing the all-wheel drive into the ID. family designed for maximum efficiency. The additional motor switches on intelligently within a few milliseconds when very high performance or strong traction are required. In the new “Traction” driving mode, it is even permanently activated." says Green Car Congress: "Volkswagen wants to become the most desired brand for sustainable mobility. The goal is to increase its share of pure electric cars in Europe to 70% of sales by 2030." https://www.greencarcongress.com/2021/04/20210419-gtx.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+greencarcongress%2FTrBK+%28Green+Car+Congress%29 QUESTION OF THE WEEK WITH EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM Would you buy a Chinese-made EV? Show #485 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Tuesday 28th May 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. HONDA E TO GET SIDE CAMERA MIRROR SYSTEM AS STANDARD "The new Honda E electric vehicle will be fitted with cameras instead of door mirrors on every variant, the Japanese manufacturer has confirmed. First revealed to the world in September 2017 as the Urban EV Concept, the E is a rear-wheel-drive electric hatchback designed to compete with the Renault Zoe. Unlike the Zoe, however, the brand new Honda will get retro styling and a high-tech cabin, as well as cutting-edge mirror technology." reports Motor1.com: "The so-called "Side Camera Mirror System" is similar to the virtual door mirrors seen on top-of-the-range versions of Audi’s new E-Tron electric SUV, and uses rear-facing cameras and small screens in the cabin to show drivers the view down the car’s flanks. In the case of the Honda, the cameras sit in housings just below the window line, with their images fed back to six-inch screens at either end of the dashboard. And the advantages don’t stop there. Honda also notes that the cameras are more aerodynamic than conventional mirrors, improving the car’s efficiency and range. And there are safety advantages, too, with a choice of "normal" or "wide" views available for the driver to select. The wide view is said to reduce blind spots by half, while even normal view provides a 10-percent improvement. Honda is also planning to integrate the reversing camera system with the mirrors, projecting guidelines on to the six-inch displays to help drivers maneuver. And to prevent the cameras becoming clouded by water or dirt, they will have specially designed housings that stop water droplets appearing on the lens, which will also feature a water-repellent coating." https://www.motor1.com/news/351805/honda-e-side-cameras-standard/ NISSAN REVS UP EMOTION IN LATEST LEAF CAMPAIGN "Nissan North America is switching gears to convey the emotional experience of driving its Leaf Plus long-range electric car, rather than leaning too heavily on the vehicle's specs, in a new campaign featuring a driver who can fly through the air." says the industry website AdAge: "The campaign is the first featuring the Leaf Plus, which debuted at CES in January and began hitting showrooms in recent weeks. Since the Nissan Leaf launched in 2010, much of the marketing has focused on its features. As the Leaf continues its reign as the top-selling electric vehicle to date, despite sagging sales early this year and competition from the likes of Tesla, it is shifting to more of a storytelling approach. Short customer testimonial videos highlighting the vehicle’s features, such as one-pedal driving and driver assistance technology, are slated to post on social media." https://adage.com/article/cmo-strategy/nissan-revs-emotion-latest-leaf-campaign/2174271 NIO POSTPONES ITS ELECTRIC SEDAN "Chinese EV startup NIO has indefinitely delayed its upcoming electric sedan just six weeks after unveiling a concept version of the car at the Shanghai Auto Show" report The Verge website: "The news comes as the startup released unaudited financial results for the first quarter of 2019, which show NIO lost $390 million as deliveries of its ES8 electric SUV dropped to 3,989 (down from 7,980 during the fourth quarter of 2018).' NIO had not previously set a ship date for the sedan, known as the ET7, but the company’s founder and CEO William Li said it is postponed during an investor call on Tuesday." https://www.theverge.com/2019/5/28/18642571/nio-delay-et7-sedan-first-quarter-new-vehicle US’S FIRST ZERO-EMISSION, ELECTRIC FERRY STARTS OPERATIONS "After being converted at the Master Marine shipyard in Bayou la Batre, Alabama, Gee’s Bend ferry has now returned to service being US’s first zero-emission, electric-powered passenger/car ferry. The boat will operate with less emissions, lower noise and reduced operating costs." according to safety4sea.com: "The 15-vehicle and 132-passenger ferry operates on the Alabama River between Camden and Boykin, Alabama" https://safety4sea.com/uss-first-zero-emission-electric-ferry-starts-operations/ CENTRICA LAUNCHES BUSINESS EV PACKAGE "Centrica has launched a new electric vehicle (EV) service designed to help businesses in the transition towards electrifying their fleet." says Utility Week: "Companies will be offered solar panels and batteries to allow them to meet the additional power demands of new charging points. Moreover, customers will be able to integrate their EV chargers with existing energy infrastructure and access local energy management services to ensure they are managing their growing fleet in the smartest, most efficient way. Research carried out by Centrica has shown that more than 75 per cent of businesses are planning to introduce EVs into their fleets. However, over half (57 per cent) of these businesses have not considered the implications of what that could mean in terms of their energy demand." https://utilityweek.co.uk/centrica-launches-ev-package-businesses/ SPIED: MINI COOPER S E CAUGHT TESTING IN THE WILD "This MINI Cooper S E, spotted being staged for an official photo shoot, gives us a completely undisguised look at the BMW subsidiary's first true entry into the all-electric market" reports Left Lane News: "The heart of it is a ~34-kWh battery pack, and according to early reports, MINI expects it to deliver roughly the same range as the BMW i3 somewhere in the neighborhood of 110-115 miles. That all said, the MINI promises to deliver one thing most compact EVs aren't really intended to: driving fun. At 3,000 pounds, it's not going to be quite as nimble as the gasoline-powered Cooper S Hardtop, but the S E should at least be able to hang with the heavier convertible." https://leftlanenews.com/mini/spied-mini-cooper-s-e-caught-testing-in-the-wild/ NEW VW ID3 ELECTRIC HATCHBACK PROTOTYPES SPOTTED "Volkswagen is working to bring to market the VW ID3 electric hatchback as their first mass-market next-gen electric car and now new prototypes have been spotted in the wild."says Electrek: "With the launch of the pre-orders, VW released images of a new prototype with a weird camouflage. Furthermore, different ID3 electric hatchback prototypes with a more traditional camouflage were spotted at the Ionity charging station in Euro-Rastpark Hohenwarsleben in Saxony-Anhalt (pictures by Michael Roth via emobly): "nterestingly, the prorotypes appear to have been camouflaged to look like Nissan vehicles with the Japanese automaker’s signature grille. Otherwise, the camouflaged vehicles reveal the overall design of the ID3." https://electrek.co/2019/05/28/vw-id3-electric-hatchback-prototypes-spotted/ WORLD'S LARGEST ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATION IS IN SHENZHEN "The largest electric vehicle (EV) charging station in the world is reportedly now situated in our very own Shenzhen, according to Sina Auto. This past week, 172 fast chargers were added by Chinese power company Southern Power Grid in collaboration with BYD and Potevio - rounding out to a total of 637 fast chargers at Minle EV Charging Station in Longhua district." writes thatsmags.com: "One Chinese industries and commodities researcher tweeted that the station is able to service almost 5,000 vehicles per day, using a total of 160-megawatt hours of energy on average. Additionally, 70 of the newly constructed charging poles use 60-kilowatt constant power charging modules which can accommodate any type of electric car model." http://www.thatsmags.com/china/post/28068/world-s-largest-electric-vehicle-charging-station-is-in-shenzhen COMMUNITY And thanks to MYEV.com they’ve set us another Question Of The Week. Annnnnnd we’re back... AutoInfluence with another round of automotive news headlines - this time for the third week of April. Of course this means highlights from both the refined presentations of the tech-centric Shanghai Auto Show as well as the New York International Auto Show, and it’s American-sized portions of everything covered with a heavy smothering of automotive gravy. And while we’re not entirely sure if that should sound as delicious as it does, we’re getting hungry, so let’s get down to it.
A first look at the limited edition Aston Martin all electric sedan as revealed at the 2019 Shanghai Automotive Show. The Aston Martin RAPIDE E.
In the first episode of EV Brief, we're talking about the gorgeous new Audi E-Tron SUV, and the discrepancy in range when compared to similarly powered electric SUVs. We'll also talk Audi's new AI:ME self- driving concept, The VW Roomzz concept, Australian politics and electric trucks in Australia, Aston Martin's first and only EV, the new Rapide E and all things Tesla. Show #433 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Wednesday 3rd April 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I’ve been through every EV story I could find today, and picked out the best ones to save you time. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. TESLA REPORTS Q1 PRODUCTION AND DELIVERIES "Tesla reported a total of approximately 63,000 vehicles delivered globally in Q1 2019. Deliveries fell 31 percent from the fourth quarter of 2018, but Tesla says they rose 110 percent compared to Q1 2018." Reports InsideEVs.com today: "The automaker breaks this down for us as follows: Model 3: 50,900, Model S and Model X: 12,100. The automaker also blamed its expansion into Europe and China for slowdowns in getting cars from its Fremont, California factory to customers for its lower delivery figures. That may inflate Q2 numbers due in July. Tesla also attributed the push to get cars to customers by the end of 2018 to take advantage of the full $7,500 federal tax credit partially deflated Q1 numbers. While it expects its financial picture for the quarter to worsen over the last earnings period, Tesla says it still has, “sufficient cash on hand.” But what else did Q1 hold? They began construction of the Chinese Gigafactory and if you haven't seen the YouTube videos, the rate of progress is almost ridiculous it's so fast. They revealed AND put on sale the Model Y. They paid off almost 1bn in cash, they don't need to raise capital and whilst the car market watches itself implode, they're not only in huge growth but they're dragging an entire industry along with them. com Forum user Nix: "77K production vs. 63K deliveries shows the one-time cost to prime the EU and China pipelines was approx. 2-3 weeks worth of sales that were delayed in the pipeline. Key word “delayed”. This fact has been predicted for over a year, and it is a normal and natural part of opening up a new pipeline to overseas markets. Every manufacturing company who has ever opened an overseas pipeline has a one-time cost for priming that pipeline. This is the breaking of the eggs moment in the making of the omelette. It is a one-quarter ONLY known and necessary delay between production and delivery roughly equal to the additional time it takes to transport cars through the pipeline. The result is a primed delivery pipeline to new markets that are now open. Anyone confused into believing this is anything other than a good thing in the long term is badly mistaken." TEslarati reports: "By the end of the quarter, Tesla had 10,600 vehicles in transit to customers, which are expected to be delivered in early Q2 2019. Tesla stated that the company had delivered roughly half of the quarter’s deliveries in the last 10 days, largely due to the time it took to ship Model 3’s to Europe and China. Despite the quarter falling below expectations, the company is still targeting to deliver 360,000 – 400,000 vehicles for the full year 2019." Jalopnik adds: "On an earnings call in January, Musk warned that about 10,000 cars could be stuck in transit at the end of the quarter and since then things appear to have gone further awry. Ships were delayed due to a worker’s strike in Belgium, and China temporarily halted deliveries after incorrect labels were discovered on some cars." https://insideevs.com/tesla-model-3-s-x-sales-q1/ https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-tsla-q1-2019-production-deliveries-report/ FORD’s BIG ELECTRIC PLAN An advanced line-up of Ford electrified vehicles marks a new milestone for Ford and its customers, the company today announced at a special “Go Electric” experience in Amsterdam, Netherlands. We learned at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show that the A6 and A8 sedans as well as the A7 Sportback and Q5 SUV were scheduled to get electrified, but spy photographers in the snowy north caught a vehicle that wasn’t mentioned – the big Audi Q8." According to InsideEVs.com: "In this instance, the term spy photos is a bit misleading since the Q8 featured here isn’t wearing a lick of camouflage. For that matter, none of its badging is obscured either so we can clearly see this is a Q8 55 TFSI model. We can also clearly see yellow stickers identifying this Audi as a hybrid test vehicle, but so what? Audi already makes a mild hybrid Q8 – couldn’t this simply be a run-of-the-mill model from Audi’s test fleet? The fuel door on the left rear fender is a dead giveaway, because the Q8 actually has its fuel door on the right rear fender. What you’re looking at here is a charging port. Sneaky, Audi. Very sneaky." https://insideevs.com/audi-q8-plug-in-hybrid-spy-photos/ VOLVO ADDS 415HP ‘POLESTAR ENGINEERED’ V60, XC60 PHEVS TO 2020 LINEUP Volvo Car USA is adding 415 horsepower plug-in hybrid electric variants of its award-winning XC60 mid-sized SUV and all-new V60 mid-sized wagon to the 2020 line-up within the “Polestar Engineered” trim. ROOMZZ Mark Kane at InsideEVs has the lowdown on another VW press release: "Volkswagen announced a new member of the I.D. family, the I.D. ROOMZZ concept, which will be unveiled at the upcoming 2019 Shanghai Auto Show in China. The world premiere of I.D. ROOMZZ is not accidental, as the concept heralds a full-size, all-electric SUV, based in MEB platform, scheduled for 2021 in China. We guess that the new concept is actually the expected I.D. Lounge" Buzz, Crozz and now Roomzz? https://insideevs.com/volkswagen-teased-full-size-electric-suv-i-d-roomzz/ MERCEDES C-CLASS PHEV SPIED HIDING CHARGING PORT And finally Chris Bruce at InsideEVs.com has the lowdown on spy shots of a new Mercedes. "After lots of chances to see the development of the next-gen Mercedes-Benz C-Class, a new batch of spy shots offers an early look at the German brand testing the upcoming sedan’s plug-in hybrid powertrain. Mercedes plans to have 20 PHEV models available by the end of 2020. These electrified variants of the C-, E-, and S-Class all have 13.5-kilowatt-hour battery packs allowing for up to 31 miles (50 kilometers) of zero-emissions motoring."
