Elle Russ is a writer, podcaster, speaker, health & life coach, and a leading advocate for thyroid health.  She has. been a prominent voice within the Ancestral Health movement for many years, including a long partnership with Mark Sisson and his popular Primal Blueprint blog and Primal Kitchen podcast. Her 2016 book, The Paleo Thyroid Solution reach #1 in Amazon' thyroid health category.   She wrote the book, starting with her own experience consulting with over 2 dozen specialists who failed to uncover or address her underlying thyroid disease, and her success in researching and finding answers that restored her health, through hormone replacement and diet.  The book has inspired thousands to better understand and address a number of misdiagnosed health issues.  In this episode, Elle Russ discusses the role of the thyroid in our health and the under-diagnosis of thyroid disease. She explains the surprising range of conditions that can be connected to thyroid dysfunction and the importance of proper testing and assessment.  Thyroid disease is often underdiagnosed and can manifest in a wide range of symptoms, including weight gain, fatigue, depression, and cognitive issues.  Proper testing and assessment of thyroid function are essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Elle reviews the importance of testing not just TSH and T4, but also  T3,  reverse T3  and key antibodies. Finding a knowledgeable doctor who understands thyroid health can be challenging, but individuals can empower themselves by learning about thyroid health and advocating for their own care. Finally, Elle discusses how a Paleo diet can be instrumental in normalizing thyroid health, and how  the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol can assist for those with autoimmune conditions..Resources:* Website:  http://freethyroidmasterclass.com/* Book: https://www.amazon.com/Paleo-Thyroid-Solution-Fatigued-Uninformed/dp/1939563240Here is a guide to topics discussed in this podcast episode:Time        Topic00:00        Introduction to Elle Russ and the role of the thyroid01:25        The thyroid's role in health and surprising conditions05:53        Lack of awareness about thyroid disease09:26        Underdiagnosed thyroid conditions and symptoms10:37        Six key tests: TSH, free T4, free T3, reverse T3, TPO, TG12:33        Interpreting the thyroid tests18:25        Why testing TSH and free T4 is Insufficient19:04        The importance of testing free T321:35        The importance of testing reverse T322:38        Reasons for Inadequate conversion of T4 to T323:54        Elle Russ's personal health journey28:44        How hypothyrodism can block the effectiveness of paleo diets29:26        Misdiagnosis by treating symptoms but not the root cause34:00        How Elle uncovered and solved her thyroid issue37:53        Finding a doctor and getting tested 44:22        Thyroid hormone replacement options48:30        Working with a doctor to get a prescription48:55        The benefits and varieties of paleo diets51:06        Why a Paleo diet helps with hypothyroidism52:45        Lifestyle factors for thyroid health53:10        Avoiding hard workouts, fasting and stress when hypothyroid55:15        Hyperthyroidism and Grave's Disease57:00        Resources for thyroid information:  freethyroidmasterclass.com Get full access to Ancestral Health Today Substack at ancestralhealth.substack.com/subscribe

When we develop autoimmune disease, our body becomes more sensitive and that often includes food sensitivity. Many of us turn to healing diets in an effort to eliminate inflammatory foods and embrace the foods that support healing instead. One risk, however, is paying too much attention to the foods we remove and not enough to the foods we add. Another risk is sticking to a dietary template without personalizing it for our body's unique needs. There are lots of healing diets out there. We often talk about the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol and Wahls Protocol on this podcast. But other diets you may be familiar with include the Specific Carbohydrate Diet or GAPS Diet, the Low-FODMAP diet, a vegetarian or vegan diet, a ketogenic diet, or a carnivore diet. Today, we discuss which nutrient deficiencies are most common on which healing diets, and how we can make sure we're getting the nutrition we need. My guest is Dr. Sarah Ballantyne. She's a best-selling author, speaker, educator, and former research scientist, fascinated with the healing power of food.

This is one of the most popular podcast episodes - for good reason! One of my goals is to make the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol as simple to follow as possible. In this episode, I dedicate an entire podcast to the most frequently asked questions I've received: Will the AIP work for my diagnosis? Is it helpful if you don't have autoimmune disease? Does it replace medication? How does it differ from the Wahls Protocol? Why can't I just do an allergy test? Can you do the AIP as a vegetarian? Why isn't coffee allowed? Can you have sugar on the AIP? I'm constantly hungry - what do I do? Tune in to get answers to these questions, and many more.

Many people think of the AIP as simply a list of foods you can and can't eat, so how can intuition play a role? And if your intuition tells you to eat junk food, that derails health goals rather than supports them, right? So, how can these things possibly go together? In this podcast episode, we bust some myths about both of these dietary philosophies and see how they might be blended for autoimmune health.

Starting the Autoimmune Protocol Can the AIP (autoimmune protocol) help you? If you have been diagnosed with an Autoimmune disease, you may feel overwhelmed. Feeling helpless and wondering "what next" is normal. Maybe your doctor has told you that this is something you'll be dealing with for the rest of your life. That's why it's so important to know that with the right protocol, you can make serious strides towards improvement. Using dietary and lifestyle changes, you can slow or even stop the progression of an autoimmune disease. There are cases of people going into complete remission using the AIP. AIP Foodie Sophie Van Tiggelen is an autoimmune warrior, foodie, recipe developer, and photographer, who was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease in 2009. She was experiencing panic attacks and anxiety, brain fog, and heart palpitations, among other symptoms. After years of persistent and painful symptoms, Sophie began a strict anti-inflammatory diet called the Autoimmune Protocol or AIP. Within a short time, she began to regain her health and vitality. Sophie began by removing all inflammatory foods, especially sugary ones. She then began taking natural supplements prescribed by her functional medicine practitioner. To cope with anxiety, she started seeing a therapist to learn techniques to help her relax and slow down her anxious thoughts. After years of living the lifestyle, creating recipes, menus, and strategies, Sophie has helped many other people. Through her website, she helps others learn to change habits and adopt the AIP lifestyle so they can feel better. Her advice is, "Don't give up, be persistent! All your efforts will pay off, and you will feel so much better!" In addition to multiple cookbooks, one which we are discussing in this episode of A Healthy Bite, Sophie has an AIP Made Simple Membership. You can hear more about it in the podcast episode or read about it on the membership site. A Squirrel in the Kitchen Sophie has lots of free resources on her site, A Squirrel in the Kitchen, including recipes, books, tips, and strategies. The latest book is The Autoimmune Protocol Meal Prep Cookbook. This is more than a cookbook; everything is planned out for you! The menus each have a theme for the week. Each menu has recipes, grocery lists, steps and instructions in detail. My favorite recipe that I have tried so far is the Pomegranate gummies. I am still working my way through all of the recipes. Even if you don't meal prep, you'll still want this book for the recipes. You will not feel deprived when you use this cookbook! Questions in this episode: Tell us a little bit about yourself. (where you're from, family, hobbies, or work, etc.) What is the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol? What got you started following the AutoImmune Protocol? Give us some examples of yes and no foods on AIP? Do you still follow the AIP and/or how long did you follow it? Does everyone in your family follow the AIP? How does it work when you have kids? What improvements did you notice once you began following AIP? You wrote The Autoimmune Protocol Meal Prep Cookbook to help others achieve success - what's the hardest part about following the AIP diet? I saw that you have an AIP community with memberships, is this similar to what you've put together with the book? Recipes, Meal Plans, Shopping Lists, etc.? Who can benefit from following AIP? You have a lot going on, how do you do it all, especially with an autoimmune disease? Meet the author Sophie Van Tiggelen is a passionate foodie, recipe developer, author, and photographer. Diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis in 2009, she used the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) to reverse her condition and today, Sophie lives a full and vibrant life free from the anxiety and flare-ups that often accompany autoimmune diseases. With her food and lifestyle blog, A Squirrel in the Kitchen, Sophie shares her AIP experience and empowers others to develop new habits to promote good health and wel...

If you’re considering a 30, 60 or 90 day elimination phase our episode today will be super helpful.Angie Alt endured several health issues including Lichen Sclerosus, Endometriosis and Secondary Infertility over the course of 11 years before she discovered the Autoimmune Protocol by reading Sarah Ballantyne’s blog The Paleo Mom.Puberty, pregnancy, post partum and menopause are the higher-risk times of a woman’s life to develop an autoimmune disorder. This is due to the hormone changes that women undergo. If you’re curious about prevention you can focus on sleep, eliminating stress and consuming nutrient-dense foods, but don’t think that you’re guilty of brining on an autoimmune disorder yourself if you haven’t always followed these prevention practices. Let’s get down to the brass tacks. AIP means no grains, legumes, dairy, eggs, nuts, seeds, chocolate, coffee, night shades. (tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, etc.) AIP means yes to bone broth, fish, shell fish, organ meats, fermented foods, and more vegetables than a vegetarian. AIP means good sleep and stress management.Should you begin your elimination phase slow and steady or go cold turkey? Kylene and Angie discuss how you can know which style is for you.Go easy on yourself when you experience and struggle with sugar cravings. Don’t expect perfection.Eat regularly because when you have low blood sugar you cannot easily out-will-power your body’s biology and the cravings. Then, there’s the reintroduction phase. This is when you carefully try one food at a time and watch for reactions. And lastly, Kylene and Angie answer listener questions about the autoimmune protocol, giving us even more insight into living with an autoimmune disorder.Links for today’s episode:Angie Alt’s Website: autoimmunewellness.comLook for her on Facebook and Instagram as Autoimmune WellnessAngie Alt’s Book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/24454069-the-alternative-autoimmune-cookbookThe Paleo Mom: https://www.thepaleomom.com/about/about-sarah/?cn-reloaded=1Don’t forget to download Kylene’s free guide: 5 Steps to Crushing Your PMS which you can find at www.thetinyfitdiva.com The Tiny Fit Diva Podcast teaches you how to balance your hormones, eat what you want, release the guilt, and have freedom mentally and physically from the restrictive mentality of dieting. Before I get into the introduction for today's show, I simply want to thank you all for your patience and support over the past month as we have taken a brief break from the podcast. The entire team has been hard at work over the past two weeks and have just released the newest version of the Ultimate Integrative and Functional Medicine Education Resource. The 2018 edition has a whopping 57 pages and is filled with 170 total resources from blogs, books and e-books to podcasts, practitioner trainings and conferences, all with embedded links to get you right where you need to be!   The book is also full of amazing pictures from none other than my partner in crime, my twin brother James, and I think you will really enjoy the combination of artistry and content. And I have to give some major thanks to my dear friend and the woman behind the scenes of nearly everything you see on the webpage and social media, Rhett Deverich. She was instrumental in getting this E-book designed and I am lucky to have it .   AND, if that wasn't enough, I just announced my partnership with Mickey Trescott and Angie Alt of Autoimmune Wellness. If you have not already, you must check out the work of Mickey and Angie, pioneers in the field of nutrition when it comes to the nutrient dense elimination diet The Paleo Autoimmune Protocol. I am so fortunate to have partnered with them and have already published our first collaborative blog post: Is Baking Soda An Effective Treatment for Autoimmune Disease?  Be sure to explore the article with the link on our podcast page or your podcast player.   So, are you ready for today's show?   In Episode 045 of A Medicinal Mind: Wisdom and Well Being, I welcome my close friend and fellow Virginian, Ashley Mannell. Ashley is the only dual-credentialed psychiatric nurse practitioner and registered dietitian in Virginia, who is ALSO a certified practitioner of Functional Medicine through the Institute of Functional Medicine.   And in today's show we get into the story that lead Ashley to such a unique place of healing. Starting by sharing her early experiences as a child and in the healthcare field as a whole, Ashley offers some background behind her pursuit of medicine. Growing from here Ashley leads us into her journey into more holistic practice, why she ultimately decided to pursue functional and integrative medicine over more traditional clinical practice.   Ashley then leads us into a discussion of her clinical practice, first seeking to define integrative psychiatry and psychology, outlining the methodical and foundational approach of her visionary clinic Richmond Integrative Psychiatry and Nutrition Services. She shares a little about their design, describing the team based approach of the clinic and the way they focus on key lifestyle habits while supporting and healing the gut on top of integrating in support for mental wellness.   We then explore some of the current hot topics in psychiatry, discussing the role of psychotherapy and genetic testing alongside nutrition and targeted supplementation. We even begin to speculate upon the future of psychiatry and the road ahead for mental health care.   This was an absolute joy to record and I am so lucky to have a partner in Virginia with such knowledge and passion for healing using root cause approaches. Functional and integrative medicine in Virginia is only going to grow with clinicians like Ashley.   And with that, let's get into the show!   Stay up to date with Ashley and her work using this link: https://richmondfoodandmood.com   You can see all of our content including blogs, poetry, meditations, and our weekly newsletter at our webpage: A Medicinal Mind   You can also follow A Medicinal Mind on Facebook and Instagram If you enjoyed the show, please subscribe with Apple Podcasts and leave us a review. In January 2014, young and talented Romanian engineer Fabian Popa was feeling fine when pneumonia struck from nowhere. He remembers coming home from work and feeling a burning sensation in his chest. After a short time coping with the coughing, severe fatigue set in and Fabian found himself unable to work. Having heard about the potential for unwanted effects caused by antibiotics, Fabian held out hoping the coughing would subside. After ten days he relented, and upon listening to his lungs, the doctor said: “Well, you have pneumonia. Take this antibiotic.” And that’s what he did. Fabian took Bayer brand Avelox, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. In the United States, similar drugs Ciprofloxacin ("Cipro") and Levofloxacin are more commonly prescribed. Everything was fine for a month, but then things started to go wrong in mysterious ways. The biggest signs that something was wrong were neurological in nature, and he experienced muscle weakness and twitching. Chronic diarrhoea set in and Fabian began to gain weight. After exhausting his options in Romania, Fabian moved on to to Germany where he eventually got a diagnosis of an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's thyroiditis. In this interview, Fabian speaks candidly about his recovery from "iatrogenic" injury. Iatrogenesis (from the Greek for "brought forth by the healer"), doesn't necessarily imply an error, but rather an unintended outcome. Had he not taken the medicine, Fabian might not have been here to talk about his recovery. But still, the unwanted effects of the antibiotics were severe. Fabian's story of recovery is incomplete but still inspiring. As an engineer, he applied his analytical and problem solving skills to blood chemistry, urinary organic acids, and stool culturomics to design a solution that consisted of diet and lifestyle modification and nutritional supplements. At the end of this interview, I asked Fabian: "Let me just check, you are feeling better than before aren’t you?" to which he replied: "Yes, of course [...] Maybe next time we talk, I can report that there’s autoimmune no more." Here’s the outline of this interview with Fabian Popa: 0:05:07    Fluoroquinolone antibiotics. 0:07:47    Hashimoto's thyroiditis. 0:18:43    Dr. Grace Liu, PharmD. 0:18:46    Dr. Tommy Wood, MD is the CMO at Nourish Balance Thrive. 0:19:33    Haptoglobin. 0:22:32    Diamine oxidase is one of the two enzymes that break down histamine, the other being Histamine N-methyltransferase. 0:23:06    Complement component 3 blood test. 0:23:59    Tumor necrosis factor alpha blood test. 0:25:37    Fabian used the autoimmune Paleo diet, my favourite guide is called A Simple Guide to the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol. 0:29:58    The Marshall Protocol (please don’t do this!) 0:30:48    Tim Ferriss podcast. 0:33:58    Faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) at the Taymount clinic. 0:37:03    Justin Sonnenburg presentation at the UCSF Paleo Symposium. 0:37:04    Diet-induced extinctions in the gut microbiota compound over generations. 0:38:54    Stool culturomics can be superior to metagenomics [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8] 0:39:46    uBiome and my report tool. 0:40:32    Iatrogenic injury.

“It was the first time I had been knocked down so hard by life I wondered if I would ever be able to get up again,” says Eileen Laird of waking up in excruciating pain. It was 2012.  Laird, age 43 at the time, was hit almost overnight with the sudden onset of rheumatoid arthritis and saw her whole world turn upside down.  One day she was out hiking and enjoying the outdoors, the next she could barely walk across her kitchen. “I didn't know how I would survive it — except you don't have a choice,” Laird says.  Feeling helpless and overwhelmed, she also found herself determined to find a way forward.    On her website, www.phoenixhelix.com Laird writes: The conventional medical treatment frightened me as much as the disease, so I sought another option. I am eternally grateful to the internet for putting information at our fingertips and allowing me to read about the GAPS , Paleo & Wahls diets. They taught me how to use food as medicine. Before then, I had daily joint flares that were excruciating, disabling and frightening. After just one week on the diet, my flares began to lessen. 1 year later, my flares were gone. She now focuses on the paleo lifestyle and has written an e-book called: A simple Guide to the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol. The protocol includes: -No processed foods. -Raw honey is the only sugar used. -Grain-free. -No legumes. -No soy -No dairy   -No refined cooking oils. Laird eats huge quantities of vegetables and says healthy fats were essential in her healing process.  Also, Laird puts heavy focus on foods that aid in digestion like kombucha. She also writes a lot about attitude, self-love, and sleep — something that has been getting quite a bit of press recently.  Arianna Huffington, Editor-in-Chief of the Huffington Post has a new book out titled, “The Sleep Revolution” and has been traveling the country encouraging people to make sleep a priority.  Huffington says it will help keep you productively focused during the work day so you can enjoy every moment of downtime while bettering your mood. “It is such perfect timing for her to have that book out,” Laird comments.  “I think she can't be more right.  Research is very clear that sleep is directly related to inflammation.  And it makes sense, our bodies regenerate, heal and repair while we are sleeping.  So the less we are sleeping, the less we are giving our bodies a chance to do that.” All of this, for Laird, was part of putting together the pieces of a healing puzzle in the days and months that followed the onset of her autoimmune disorder. “You are stronger than you realize,” she says.  “One thing that automatically happens when you go through something really hard, whether physical or emotional, it is incredible strengthening.  That's why I have the Phoenix on my website.” She is careful, however, not to say that she is cured of rheumatoid arthritis — rather she refers to it now as a whisper in the body as opposed to a scream. But it is remarkable to think that four years ago Eileen Laird awoke in a state of panic.  She describes moments where she was crawling on the floor sobbing, wondering if she would ever again function without pain.   By educating and empowering herself, Laird has managed to turn it all around — one day at a time, one meal at a time.  “I have a wonderful life now, even though is not the same one I had before.” Laird has grown an audience through blogging, writing and sharing what she has learned on her journey using food as medicine. She lives in a small town in North Carolina, but has built a global community of like-minded people who focus on the paleo lifestyle.  Her “tribe” as she calls them. “I'm in a touch with a global community of people doing the same thing.  By starting my blog and podcast, I got to get in touch with thousands of people who are doing it.  And it makes you feel a lot less alone.” The post The Autoimmune Warrior: Using Food As Medicine appeared first on Inspired Media 360 TV - Inform | Inspire | Engage.

The autoimmune paleo diet described in Eileen Laird’s new book reversed occult blood found on my stool test result and brought my Hs-CRP blood test for inflammation back into the normal range. I was already eating a paleo-type diet before I made the switch to AIP, and with hindsight I suspect that seeds, nuts and eggs were the main foods still causing me problems. I’m not alone, and process of eliminating common food allergens and then doing careful reintroductions is frequently helpful for the athletes that we work with. We’ve recommended Sarah Ballantyne’s book to hundreds of people. My mother in law owns two copies and lends them to strangers all the time. No doubt it’s a fantastic book, but sometimes I feel badly for burdening people with the task of reading it, especially if they’re not feeling good. You’ve probably noticed that most of the volume of any book comprises of the argument to support the prescription. What if you don’t care about the argument? Just tell me what to do. Eileen's new book: A Simple Guide to the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol does exactly that. You can read it in a couple of hours and know exactly what you should do next. Most people think of AIP as a diet but that’s not true, AIP is a lifestyle and the important lifestyle factors are described succinctly in Eileen’s book. Eileen Laird is an amazing women: deep tissue massage therapist, outdoors lover, author and podcast host. Eileen has been using autoimmune paleo diet (AIP) to successfully manage her once debilitating rheumatoid arthritis. Getting help. In this episode, Eileen is interviewed by the women who introduced me to AIP. Julia is my wife, and a food scientist, and I’ll be forever grateful to her for enabling me to execute the dietary rules so effortlessly, something she now teaches other people professionally. Are you struggling to make AIP work? Book a month of coaching with Julia. Julia doesn’t do food allergy testing or chronic food logging. Instead, she teaches via the phone or Skype and then follows up on a three-day food diary stored in Google Docs. Here’s the outline of this interview with Eileen Laird: 0:00:20 Eileen's book: A Simple Guide to the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol (AIP). 0:00:38 AIP was originally an elimination diet. 0:00:51 Nightshades and eggs were a problem for people with autoimmunity. 0:01:15 The second phase is reintroduction. 0:01:41 Seeds and spices. 0:01:58 People are started to appreciate the lifestyle component. 0:02:18 Sleep, stress, self-talk. 0:02:51 The goal is to live the best life possible with autoimmunity. 0:03:03 Who is AIP for? 0:03:39 Do you need a diagnosis? 0:04:17 Over 100 autoimmune diseases are classified. 0:04:33 Multiple sclerosis (MS), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), lupus. 0:04:41 Diabetes. 0:04:46 Skin diseases. 0:04:57 Eczema is an immune reaction. 0:05:05 Lichen planus. 0:05:52 Sometimes a diagnosis is hard to make. 0:07:06 If you've already tried paleo and there are lingering symptoms then AIP can help. 0:07:53 Eileen was healthy, active, fit. 0:08:35 Woke up one day with pain 0:08:51 Same problem on both sides is classic RA. 0:10:12 Eileen has been lucky in not needing medication. 0:10:36 Eileen reclaimed joy in her life within a few months. 0:11:08 Now back to working full time and hiking. 0:11:41 Eileen took things in steps. 0:11:58 Tried vegetarian and veganism. 0:12:18 Paleo is a good starting point for people intimidated by AIP. 0:13:07 Eileen waited 5 months on paleo before going full AIP. 0:13:47 Bland food is not sustainable! 0:14:06 Now there are lots of good resources. 0:14:39 Dairy, even the best dairy were a problem. 0:15:28 AIP can be complex, how can we make it simpler? 0:16:12 Book: Better Than Before: What I Learned About Making and Breaking Habits--to Sleep More, Quit Sugar, Procrastinate Less, and Generally Build a Happier Life. 0:17:36 Planning is essential. 0:17:49 Out of sight, out of mind. 0:18:28 Household support is important. 0:19:01 Angie at Autoimmune Paleo. 0:20:08 AIP is not supposed to be forever but the reintroduction phase can be hard. 0:22:12 The reintroduction of eggs was important to Eileen. 0:23:33 Reintroduction requires patience. 0:23:44 Being the focus of a science experiment is incredibly empowering. 0:24:20 If you get it wrong, you've got to back to square one, another 30 days. 0:25:01 Symptoms are the guide. 0:25:47 Until you clear some of the inflammation, everything is noise. 0:26:40 Struggling emotionally is a consideration. 0:27:12 Eileen reintroduced at six weeks. 0:27:28 Some wait a year. 0:27:36 You should reintroduce! AIP is not necessarily healthier. 0:28:14 There's a risk of disordered eating. 0:28:51 Don't let your food become another stressor. 0:29:46 I don't have any emotional connection to food. 0:30:03 But I hate feeling like crap! 0:30:22 It's not orthorexic to want to feel good. 0:30:57 We've been doing modified AIP for nearly 3 years. 0:31:10 I go back to AIP after hard training or racing. 0:32:03 Qualify using the Bristol Stool chart! 0:32:31 People want meal plans but Julia hates to produce them. 0:32:58 Encouraging people to take ownership. 0:33:16 Book: The Paleo Approach: Reverse Autoimmune Disease and Heal Your Body. 0:33:30 Why another AIP book? 0:33:38 Eileen enjoys making complex information accessible. 0:34:19 Phoenix Helix blog. 0:34:36 The book is a simple package and is for people thinking "just tell me what to do!" 0:36:12 Sometimes we feel bad about burdening people with the AIP Bible. 0:37:16 Eileen wrote the book with people with autoimmunity in mind. 0:37:35 But her family understood AIP in a way they hadn't previously after reading the book. 0:38:09 The book is unintimidating. 0:39:25 What about AIP as a healing diet (without autoimmunity). 0:39:53 Eileen thinks it's a great reset diet. 0:40:10 Reintroductions are typically very successful. 0:40:15 We use a combination of AIP plus supplements to address the specific problems that we find on lab tests. 0:40:59 What are the other things apart from diet? 0:41:11 People frequently focus exclusively on diet. 0:41:43 The lifestyle factors are equally important. 0:42:00 AIP dieters are perfectionists. 0:42:26 Diet is a good place to start. 0:42:34 Sleep is likely to improve after you change your diet. 0:42:48 Worry about the things that you can change. 0:43:03 Meditation works wonders. 0:43:29 Even 5 minutes a day can make a difference 0:43:40 Yoga, being outdoors in nature. 0:43:54 Heart beat slows, tightness softens. 0:44:54 Circadian rhythm is very important. 0:45:07 Setting a bedtime and awakening time reduced RA inflammation. 0:45:28 People are harder on themselves than they need to be. 0:45:41 Ask yourself, would you talk to someone else like that? 0:47:11 Eileen's podcast. 0:47:26 Eileen felt like her joints were on fire, hence the Phoenix. 0:47:49 The podcast is in iTunes. 0:48:00 Recipe roundtable on Eileen's blog.
