January is known for New Year's Resolutions and Quitter's Day (the 2nd Friday in January). Often we start with the best intentions only to lose our motivation and determination 14 days later. It's a tradition as old as time. What if we postponed our goal-setting until spring? The weather is nicer, we are uplifted by the renewing nature of springtime, and sunshine and warm weather abound. Our mind, body, and spirit have survived the doldrums of winter and we're ready to start anew.As we all know too well, setting goals and achieving goals are two different things. In today's episode, we will explore tried and true strategies for setting realistic goals using the SMART acronym as our guiding principles. After all, a goal without a plan is just a daydream.https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/everyday-resilience/202303/spring-is-the-time-to-keep-new-resolutions?ampMy Main Goal Right Now www.Wisegoals.com.Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools by Tyler Statonhttps://www.scientificamerican.com/blog/psysociety/the-psychology-of-giving-thanks/

Rebecca shares her personal journey and powerful encounters with Jesus during moments of rest. She provides practical advice on how to incorporate Sabbath practices into a full life, emphasizing the importance of rest as a gift from God rather than an earned reward. Rebecca also discusses how her new business, Peaceful Homes, aims to bring peace and organization into families' lives through intentional rest and decluttering. This episode offers valuable insights and practical tips for anyone looking to deepen their spiritual practice of rest and experience the transformative power of Sabbath. 00:00 Introduction and Welcoming Rebecca 01:04 Rebecca's Rest Story 02:50 Spiritual Encounters and Rest 09:59 Defining Rest, Sabbath, and Sabbatical 20:36 Personal Reflections on Rest and Resistance 25:54 Introduction to Sabbath Practices 26:14 Rebecca's Family Journey with Sabbath 27:57 Implementing Sabbath Rest 31:15 Challenges and Reflections on Sabbath 35:17 Practical Tips for Starting Sabbath 48:38 Creating a Peaceful Home 50:25 Concluding Thoughts and Encouragement Connect with Rebecca Anthony: RebeccaDAnthony@gmail.com Rebecca's Journal Prompts for Creating/Resetting: A Sabbath Rest Day 1. If you don't currently have times in your calendar where you rest, what roadblocks come up for you when you consider incorporating rest into your schedule? What may be the most challenging aspect for you? 2. What are words you would use to describe yourself when you aren't intentionally taking time to rest and get replenished? What distracts you from resting? 3. Ask God if He is inviting you to intentionally take one day a week to rest from work. If so, ask him which day, and/or time periods, would be best for you and your family. Does the day you currently rest on, still work best for you and/or you and your family? 4. What will you do on your Sabbath rest times and your dedicated day to rest? Make a list of the life giving, healing and restorative activities/practices that you're curious about including in your week. Consider how you, and/or you and your family can rest with Jesus and worship him throughout your week. Ask yourself, what brings my soul joy and delight. 5. What will you exclude on your Sabbath rest day? 6. Ask your family members what they'd love to do on their sabbath rest day. The personal involvement of God in our lives can make us think that our blessing and renewal is all that He is concerned with, but King David's prayer in Palm 51 helps us to know otherwise. When we experience personal transformation, the healing merciful touch of God, we realize that If he can change me than He can change anyone. In this final installment of the series Confessions, Pastor Fikre Prince, shares that not only should personal renewal spark community revival but that healing for the community brings God delight.Text: Psalm 51Big Idea: Personal Renewal Inspires Communal RevivalKey Question: How does personal renewal inspire communal revival?1. Personal Confession pleads for communal renewal. (v. 18)2. Communal renewal enjoys God's delight. (v. 19)

In this episode of THE MENTORS RADIO, Host Tom Loarie talks with Dr. Jim Loehr, the founder of Johnson and Johnson's HUMAN PERFORMANCE INSTITUTE and best-selling author. They discuss the rarest of human qualities, courage, its costs, and what life will give you in return for a little courage. The insights shared in this episode deliver some of the most powerful, life-changing challenges for any human being, regardless of their work, profession, life or athletic prowess. Dr. Loehr has coached some of the most elite professionals in sports, athletics, business, military and nonprofits. These are professionals who are so well-trained and high-level that what will give them “an edge” and what will give them a sense of happiness or fulfillment has nothing to do with skill or technique. Instead, this is how to retrain your thinking to become your truest self, resulting in “a seismic shift,” as Jim describes it, in people's lives—from frustration or unhappiness to vibrant happiness and feeling of fulfillment. Loehr's Institute of Performance, his books and success are world-renown. PLEASE NOTE: An unexpected technical issue has forced us to delay posting of this powerful episode. In this episode, Michael interviews Troy Bennett, CEO of Bennett's Petroleum. He's based in Hobart, Australia. Troy covers a wide variety of roles regarding business activities such as; human resources, marketing, property development, retail development, and contracts. After running through different roles within the company, he took the mantle of CEO in May 2002. Troy is an advocate for energy awareness; back in the day when he was trying to make it to the Olympics in the 80s and 90s, it was important that he'd monitor his energy output on a daily basis in order to be as effective as he can be. Just like in sports, managing your energy output correlates with business, business owners should also monitor their energy outputs to avoid burning out, taking regular breaks after a period of time working aggressively to be as effective as they can be. According to Troy, having an energy calendar is extremely useful for knowing what days you should go out there to work with maximum effort and for days you shouldn't. Heavily leveling up the quality of your decision-making as you know when to make one. This Cast Covers: Being aware of your levels of energy. Monitoring your emotions and your physical quality. The importance of timely decision-making. Taking care of your physical and mental health to avoid burning out. Using your energy to be forceful to get your point across. Carefully managing your workload. Getting enough sleep, and getting the right nutrition. Creating online courses does not require a huge investment in time or money. Although they certainly can cost tens of thousands of dollars to produce, with professional video editing and branding, they don't have to. In fact, my favorite way to create and launch a course is with my future students! This follows agile design principles (check out the agile manifesto here). The goal is developing rapidly, with frequent input from key stakeholders, not building so much behind the scenes that what you're working on becomes out-of-date or out of touch with what your audience and potential future students actually need. This is one of the episodes I reference most frequently from the Pivot podcast (originally aired December 1, 2019), so I'm replaying it here for you today in case you're newer to the JB universe! I break down all the details of how I love launching and creating courses, and you can also read a summary of the steps on this page of the Pivot website.
This week Jonny and Amy speak about the importance of pursuing personal renewal in our journey with Christ. The call to follow Jesus up the mountain is is not an easy one, but it is one worth following.

In our meditation practice, we are invited into the present moment. But the cool thing is that the present moment isn't a static place. In fact, the present moment is more like a precipice, an edge…The present moment is a continually expanding experience of what is NOW. I think of it as a verison of the universe itself. Scientists know that the universe is continually expanding - and it feels like the present moment is a microcosm of the universe as a whole. A multitude of experiences are contained within the present, and it is always changing. Both are true. So in every moment that we sit and breathe in meditation, we are what we are in this moment AND we are becoming something new. Generating new cells, new thought patterns, new awarenesses. As part of our practice we celebrate our continual renewal. It is our chance to see ourselves exactly as we are and as we are becoming. Introduction “The more we take responsibility for the energy we bring to the world, the more empowered and productive we become. The more we blame others or external circumstances, the more negative and compromised our energy is likely to be.” — Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz. Can you reach your peak performance levels without the right sort of energy? Did you know that there is more than one type of energy that fuels your success? The Power of Full Engagement emphasizes the importance of energy for both sports and professional performance. In the digital age, time management is no longer an option. We have access to the rest of the world 24/7. The Power of Full Engagement tells us how to reclaim control of our energy rather than our time. Released in 2003, it is a New York Times bestseller and has helped many companies improve efficiency. StoryShot #1: Energy, Not Time, Is Our Most Precious Resource “To be fully engaged, we must be physically energized, emotionally connected, mentally focused and spiritually aligned with a purpose beyond our immediate self-interest.” — Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz. Our performance runs on the currency of energy. The best energy state for improving performance is full engagement. The time we spend on something is not what makes our life work. Instead, the energy we bring to that time is important. Four principles underpin full engagement. The first type of energy is physical. We all understand physical energy. It is the type that helps us move. As with all energy, physical energy depends on flexibility, endurance, and strength. The second type of energy is emotional. Emotional flexibility allows us to express a vast range of feelings. We experience different emotions in different situations. We can also experience several emotions during one experience. For example, a scary experience might include fear,

In this episode, Dean Newlund and Rex Afrasiabi discuss:Learning leadership principles from sportsTimely advice for business ownersA lack of motivation due to uncertaintyKeeping yourself from burning out Key Takeaways:Have a clear objective, have a plan, and have the right people around you, and you'll find success in whatever you want to do.Growth starts with visualizing your ideal destination. Work backward from the goal. Every significant result starts with a small idea. The pandemic halted many people's plans, and many lost their drive and motivation because of the uncertainty they had to face. Realign yourself to what motivated you at the start.Set boundaries, let others know when your work is over and be firm and stable with it. When you let people know when you'll be off, and until what time you'll be available, you might find that people will respect that. "Have a balanced lifestyle. Don't just work non-stop because you'll burn out; no one can do that and maintain that… you need to realign yourself, focus on what you wanted at the start." — Rex Afrasiabi.
