The scrolling, the shopping, the working until midnight, the constant need to be doing something other than just... being here. We just wrapped up a 3-week Urge Challenge in the club, and the insights that came out of it blew my mind. People started tracking their overeating urges and quickly realized they had urges for everything - and that maybe, just maybe, the urge isn't actually the problem. What we're diving into: Why you can put your phone down and pick it back up without even realizing it The difference between an urge and your fear of the urge (spoiler: one of these is way worse) How society normalizes certain escapes while shaming others Why some people are getting baby chickens and accidentally losing weight The weird thing that happens when you fight an urge so hard that eating becomes about ending the fight, not the food What it's like to sit in an Uber without your phone (harder than you think) Why working 12-hour days gets praised but it might be the same pattern as overeating Plus, I share my own struggle with my phone and how recovering from chronic pain made my phone my unfortunate companion. Spoiler alert: it wasn't a quick fix, and it wasn't about trying harder or forcing myself to be motivated. It was about making a deep, long-term commitment to the process and finally getting the right support.In 2019, I sat on my parents' couch, fired up and ready to break free from the cycle of binge eating. I knew diets weren't the answer. Intermittent fasting? Not the answer. Tracking food? Not going to work for me. I knew the power of NOT giving into my urges, but it felt like I had no choice...So, I messaged a coach, fired up and ready as ever to stop binge eating, but something shifted. The next morning, I woke up feeling better, like maybe I didn't need that support after all. “Maybe I can do this on my own,” I thought.But that feeling didn't last (of course)... Another urge came, and before I knew it, the bingeing cycle continued. I realized: unless you rewire your brain, break free from those urges, and do the deep work, the cycle will just keep repeating.What I wanted was more than just less urges; I wanted them to be completely gone. I didn't want to live in fear of what would happen when I was alone with food or on vacation. I wanted peace around food, confidence in my choices, and to truly enjoy my life without constantly thinking about my next meal.It wasn't until I committed long-term to the process and sought out the right support that I began to see real transformation. Fear? Yeah, I had it. Doubt? Of course. But in those moments, having a mentor who had been through the same thing, someone who understood exactly what I was feeling, made all the difference.Today, I'm binge-free because:I got the right support.I leaned into the fear and doubt.I committed long-term.In this episode, I dive deep into what it really takes to break free from binge eating and why going all-in for the long term is the secret to truly conquering it for good. In honour of Endometriosis Awareness Month (March) today's episode is a replay from Episode 6, where I talk about nutrition. Episode 39: Hi guys!! Today we're chatting with Autumn Smith. She's a holistic nutritionist, co-founder of Paleovalley + Wild Pastures, and host of the Optimize Paleo podcast. Autumn's story is so inspiring. She suffered from debilitating digestive issues and crippling anxiety for most of her life. After specialist told her nothing could be done, but as one final attempt at a life free of health issues, Autumn decided to harness the power of whole foods. In this episode we talk about all the changes she made that helped heal her IBS symptoms in 30 days. Her experience led her and her husband to start a company dedicated to helping people get essential nutrients they need without added sugars, grains, and other harmful ingredients.
