In this episode, we dive deep into the latest pinball rumors, industry news, and some wild speculation—because why not? We kick things off by discussing what Barrels of Fun might have in store for their next game and explore possible themes like Dune, G.I. Joe, and The Goonies (links below for reference). We also chat about Wonderland Amusements and Powlowski Pinball's involvement in the scene. Then, we shift gears to talk about the ever-evolving world of home pinball—does Wonderland's new machine make sense at $799? Can it actually deliver a real pinball experience at that price point, or will it follow the same path as Arcade1Up? Speaking of innovation, we also touch on Multimorphic's P3 platform—a console-like approach to pinball that lets you swap out playfields for a completely new game. On the hardware side, we break down the latest in pinball glass—PinnGlass, JJP Invisiglass, Stern HD Glass, and Voodoo Glass. Plus, we've got some inside scoop on Stern's Venom topper—it's coming VERY soon and might introduce something completely new for a Stern topper. Will it release before TFP? We think so—probably next week! And of course, we couldn't wrap up without talking about Dungeons & Dragons Pinball! So far, it's been an absolute blast with an awesome battle mechanic, but… let's talk about those reboots and crashes. The good news? George Gomez himself confirmed a fix is coming in next week's code update. Looking to Buy a New or Used Pinball Machine? It all started with one trip to Pinball Expo—just one. I came back home, bought my first machine, and from that moment on, it's been all pinball, all the time. Machines have come and gone, and through the years, I've learned a lot about what I love in a game and what just doesn't stick. But here's the problem: I still struggle with deciding what stays and what goes. With limited space and an endless list of games I want to own, it's a constant battle. In this episode, I take a deep dive into my current collection, the games that didn't make the cut, and whether I regret letting any of them go. If you've ever wrestled with tough pinball choices, this one's for you! Let's talk collecting, decision-making, and the never-ending search for the perfect lineup. LEAVE ME A VOICEMAIL AND I MIGHT PLAY IT ON THE SHOW! https://www.speakpipe.com/RetroRalphVM

We are back! It is now 2025, the holidays are over, and it's time to get back to talking about video games. I was in Las Vegas over the Christmas holiday, and went to AREA15 (along with Meow Wolf's Omega Mart as well as the Asylum Bar and Arcade) as well as the Pinball Hall of Fame. I also picked up Balatro. I won on my second game, and I will now retire from the game forever. (Or will I?) Apple has halted production on their Apple Vision Pro headset because they believe they have produced enough units to meet the demand over the headset's lifetime. Stern Pinball has announced a new Dungeons & Dragons pinball machine with celebrity voiceovers as well as a procedurally generated dungeon that changes every Sunday. Then we talk to Rob about my virtual pinball cabinet, and how Zen Studios unlocked the cabinet mode for free for Pinball FX3 users, rather than forcing you to jump through hoops to get a free activation code.
A new space is allowing Montrealers to relive some nostalgia by way of pinball machines. Mike Loftus, owner of Pinball Medics in Ottawa and Montreal, spoke to Andrew Carter.
Support the show: https://ko-fi.com/wedgeheadpodcastThis is a sequel to our earlier episode 16 - So You Wanna Buy a Pinball Machine? And in that episode (which we HIGHLY recommend listening to first) we mostly discuss a lot of the things that we wish we knew before we bought our first pinball machines, including a lot of the downsides that you might not even be thinking about. But this episode is a deeper dive taking the plunge, and in particular, buying used games, which is a whole lot different than buying new machines directly from a distributor.Alex give a lot of advice for sites to use to search for games, tools and vehicles for moving games, and what to look for.We mention in the episode a very handy pinside thread that has a list of vehicles that confirmed will fit a pinball machine in them, but here's an easier to read at a glance list from the pinball wikiAs long time listeners know, we're naughty boys on the show and sometimes curse throughout our discussions. This is your warning.Support the show

In the basements of homes around the country are old pinball machines, relics of a pastime that is seeing a resurgence.Winona Area Learning Center teacher Matthew Wagner was thinking about all of those old, maybe broken down, pinball machines when he started a new club for his students. It's called the Pinhawk Club and its members restore broken pinball machines to working order. They plan to auction off their first fully-restored machine Saturday for funds to keep the club going. MPR News host Cathy Wurzer talked with Wagner along with a student member of the Pinhawks club, high school junior Corey Duncan.

Have you ever felt like no matter how much effort you put into controlling your life, you can't seem to find peace with your body and your eating habits? You're not alone. Many of us grapple with these challenges, often feeling like a pinball in a machine, bouncing around with little control over where we're headed. In today's episode, we delve into the complexities of our relationship with our bodies and food, aiming to find strategies that foster peace and calm. In this episode, we uncover the life of a "control enthusiast" and explore how this desire for control can manifest in unhealthy habits, such as emotional eating or perfectionism. Drawing parallels with a pinball machine, we discuss the unpredictability of life and the stress it brings. We also share insights from the transformative book "When Women Stop Hating Their Bodies," which helps us understand and overcome deep-rooted patterns of behavior. Additionally, I share a personal story from a recent trip, reflecting on how I managed stress and unexpected challenges, embodying the very principles we discuss. In this episode, you'll learn: The analogy of life as a pinball machine and how to regain control without resorting to unhealthy habits. Strategies for addressing the root causes of emotional eating and perfectionism, leading to sustainable change. Real-life applications of these strategies, including a personal anecdote that illustrates overcoming adversity with calm and resilience. Join us as we journey through understanding and improving our relationship with our bodies and food, seeking not just temporary fixes but lasting peace and empowerment.

It's your birthday! Let's go down to Willy's Wonderland and celebrate! Maybe if we're lucky, the animatronics won't eat us. This week's episode is all about the Nic Cage flick WILLY'S WONDERLAND. There's a lot to unpack here, so let's put our fun hats on and dive head first into this ball pit of murder, evisceration, and satanic rituals. Hooray!
CPAC rocked a January 6th insurrection pinball machine. The Dems have plan for taking control of conservative state houses. A national uptick in syphilliscases have caused a pencillin shortage. Shitler won the South Carolina Primary and then tossed Senator Lindsey Graham to the MAGA wolves. Trump turned up the racism when he explained black conservatives like him because of his mugshot. The SCOTUS weighed free speech challenges to GOP backed social media regulations. This year at CPAC, the Nazis attended and NBC documented the facist scumbags giving each other the Hitler-salute. Trumpian worm Stephen Miller called for the arrests of "commie teachers." Evil con-man and former GOP rep George Santos dissed CPAC and complained about the expensive ticket price. At the Capitol, charlaton prophet Kat Kerr blathered she was surrounded by a million angels who were ready to the "waste the place."

In this episode Alan and Alex discuss the most common new post on any pinball forum, subreddit, or facebook group: Buying your own pinball machine to put into your house. This episode is meant to give a better, more whole picture of owning pinball machines. Alex is a home collector, and Alan owns Wedgehead as an operator, and they discuss why you don't need your own machine to enjoy the hobby of pinball, but if you do want to own them, you are gonna have to learn how to fix them, as well as get accustomed to talking to a lot of old dudes on the internet who don't know how to text.We talk the good, the bad, and the ugly so that you can make an informed decision for yourselves. There's a lot of other pinball pods that are either hosted by distributors, or sponsored by them, and many of the hosts are themselves home collectors. There's nothing wrong with any of that, but home collecting is almost a separate sub hobby of playing pinball, and one that is a much bigger commitment than some of them might lead you to believe. We aren't sponsored by a distributor, so we speak freely about what happens after you take the plunge and purchase a pinball machine for yourself....we're adults so there may be some swearing in the episode.

Still Standing is an Aussie made doco about the golden era of arcade and pinball machines. It's a nostalgic trip down memory lane, where director Brad Gilbertson heads into the legendary arcades around the nation and chats with the people who helped form many childhood memories. Brad is based in Adelaide, and as such frequented local arcades like Downtown and Magic Mountain, and chatted with the godfather of amusement venues, Frank Sebastyan, for the documentary, alongside many other folks. Independently produced and made by BGVC Films, Still Standing is releasing around the globe on February 22. In this interview, Andrew chats with Brad about how he made the film, what his favourite arcade game was, and some of the uniquely Australian stories about Australian arcades that he discovered during filming. To find out more, heading over to the Still Standing Facebook page and check out the trailer below. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

AJC journalists Bill Rankin and Tamar Hallerman focus on former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani's grand jury appearance and U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham's attempts to avoid his testimony by the Fulton County special purpose grand jury of former President Donald Trump and his allies for what happened in Georgia after the 2020 presidential election. Giuliani, who has been Trump's personal lawyer, showed up at the Fulton courthouse to testify before the grand jury after his lawyers had tried unsuccessfully to postpone it. Graham, who placed two phone calls to the Secretary of State's office in the weeks after the election, was scheduled to testify before the special grand jury on Tuesday. But the federal appeals court in Atlanta - the fifth court so far to be involved in Graham's case - stepped in two days before the South Carolina senator was to appear and delayed his appearance. Rankin and Hallerman also cover the dustup between Gov. Brian Kemp and the Fulton District Attorney's Office and decisions by judges in Colorado and New Mexico ordering two other lawyers who represented the Trump campaign to come to Atlanta and testify before the grand jury.
