Eirik Værnes i samtale med tobarnsmor Lillian Gran og Einar Salvesen, psykologen som fikk Strasbourg til å ta tak i barnevernet i Norge.Etter en omfattende barnevernsak — som startet med at hun selv ba om hjelp — fikk Lillian Gran barna sine tatt fra seg 27.4.2023. Til tross for at barna har gitt uttrykk for at de vil være med henne, og at de ikke har det bra i fosterhjem, blir de værende der. Lillian har i tillegg fått besøksforbud i snart 3 år. Da hun ble kontaktet av barna, og kjørte dem hjemover, ble hun arrestert. Hun har nå sittet 5 måneder i kvinnefengselet Ravneberget og 6 uker på tvungen psykiatrisk observasjon ved St. Olavs hospital i Trondheim. 2. juni slapp hun ut.Lillian er forsker og førsteamanuensis med en doktorgrad i pedagogikk. Hun har vært lærer og rektor. I 2014 tok hun kontakt med barnevernet for å få hjelp etter et samlivsbrudd med mannen hun hadde to barn med.Einar Salvesen er psykologspesialist og har arbeidet både med organisasjonspsykologi, i Norge og utlandet, og klinisk psykologi. Han har vært oppnevnt som fagdommer i lagmannsretten, har vært sakkyndig psykolog for barnevernet, i tillegg til å veilede og jobbe med barnevernet i flere saker.I 2015 tok han initiativ til å utarbeide en bekymringsmelding med adresse Strasbourg. Meldingen ble underskrevet av 270 fagfolk, og den førte til at Strasbourg sendte rapportøren Ghiletchi til Norge for å undersøke forholdene. Alle feilene og manglene som Salvesen og hans gruppe hadde påpekt ble tatt med i rapporten, og sendt til høyesterett. Norsk barnevern fikk beskjed om å endre praksis. Det er i etterkant av denne bekymringsmeldingen at Norge har begynt å få fellende dommer mot seg i den europeiske menneskerettsdomstolen.Salvesen var også sakkyndig psykolog for familien som nå er portrettert i den rumenske filmen «Fjord». Nå er han involvert i saken til Lillian Gran og jobbet for en gjenforening mellom mor og barn, og for å skape dialog mellom mor og fosterfar, og de forskjellige instansene Gran har vært i kontakt med, som barnevern, Ravneberget og St. Olav hospital.

I talked to Alan Thornburrow, the CEO of Salvesen Mindroom Centre and a parent of children with dyslexia. Salvesen Mindroom Centre or SMC has been working with dyslexia and neurodiversity for over 21 years and is continuously supporting people living with learning differences. Alan Thornburrow disengaged from school at 16. He struggled to find his place in the world until he managed to find a career in finance. Learning on the job, he realised he was learning more at work than at school and thought there might be others like him who weren't successful at school but can do well in the real world. Alan has spent 20 years advocating for people that might see themselves as ‘other' in the world. Alan's job is to influence decision-makers, policymakers and funders into making the right decisions on inclusion and diversity in schools, the workplace and society more generally. SMC will host a global conference in March with over 50 speakers that include neuroscientists and nutrition experts; campaigners, clinicians, comedians; actors, artists and activists to provide insights into understanding our differences.
