This Sunday, we begin our new series on The Seven Deadly Sins by focusing on anger—a God-given emotion that often turns destructive when fueled by pride, selfishness, or misplaced love. Scripture reminds us that while righteous anger seeks restoration, sinful anger stems from over-loving the wrong things—our comfort, control, or reputation—more than God. True freedom from anger begins with love: loving God first and allowing His Spirit to shape our responses with patience, gentleness, and forgiveness. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. Why do we have to be cautious with inordinate pleasure? How does gluttony function in our lives, and how do we resist this vice?
The spooky season is finally upon us. Every day another yard is covered in Halloween decorations and the autumn leaves. The fall jackets come out as the temperatures drop, at least they would if Global Warming wasn't real. The calendar tells me its October, but Mother Nature is telling me to keep wearing shorts! Honestly, the weather doesn't matter because the Grinders podcast can be enjoyed anywhere at any time. You can listen to Grinders while trick or treating. Don't worry. We won't blow your cover. Just say the gray hair is a part of the costume. Collecting candy while listening to the latest gaming news, sounds like a happy holiday to me. The holiday will be even better for fans of the Yakuza series who can look forward to some upcoming releases. Fans of Nioh, Code Vein, and The Seven Deadly Sins can look forward to 2026 for new releases, it's only scary if you hate waiting. For the parents who are escorting their children as they beg old people for candy. While you are driving slowly, enjoying your beer, is the perfect time to listen to Stinkos! You could be at home, drinking in peace. Instead, you are just hoping your kid gets some good candy, that you plan on stealing in their sleep. You might need those treats to power through yet another price increase from Microsoft. If a bad economy and corporate greed don't get us, Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi might. Even worse that getting pennies in your bag is the Fed spending our tax dollars to protect dictators while ignoring natural disasters here at home. Even more gross than someone giving out open pieces of candy corn, are the actions of ICE. I know I am making jokes, but they are deadly problem. Cowards who have been emboldened to attack the people they have always dreamed of hurting. Sick fucks. With such horrible Stinkos, we need some Sweetos to light up our ol' hallows night. Almost as good as finding the one neighborhood that gives out full sized candy bars! Or if you are like Frank, a huge pot bud. Unlike MAGA who is very unpleased with Dear Leaders opinions on marijuana. If they weren't already unhappy, announcing Bad Bunny for the Superbowl has made all of MAGA even less happy. Not quite as happy as Break feels for the future of his favorite baseball team. As the night of begging finally ends, the parents can finally have some fun. Put the children to bed, raid their candy bags, put on your sexiest Halloween costume, and listen to an episode of RPGrinders! HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Favorite Sexy outfit? Winnie the Sexy Pooh? Slutty Santa Claus? Handsy Guy on the Bus? Sexy Three Stooges? Popeye the Pussy Eater Man?

How do we discern the difference between sinful wrath and righteous wrath? How does Christ offer freedom from the cycle of sinful wrath?
In our exploration of the Seven Deadly Sins, we delve into the insidious nature of greed. Jesus' parable of the rich fool in Luke 12:13-21 serves as a stark reminder that life's true measure isn't found in accumulating possessions, but in being rich toward God. This message challenges us to examine our hearts and detect the subtle ways greed may be influencing our lives - not just in finances, but in our time, relationships, and pursuits of status. We're called to shift our focus from hoarding to radical generosity, recognizing that everything we have is a gift from God to be stewarded for His kingdom. By embracing this perspective, we can break free from the trap of insatiable desire and find true contentment in Christ, who offers us everything we need for a godly life.

The premise is almost deceptively simple: two police detectives - a rookie and a veteran - hunt a serial killer around an unnamed city who has been who has apparently been using the seven deadly sins as his motives for each victim, each one also displayed at the murder scene to signify that one particular sin. Of course as directed by three-time Oscar-nominee David Fincher (Fight Club, Zodiac, The Social Network, Gone Girl), it became a highly influential phenomenon.....a grisly horror classic featuring one of the most talked-about gut-punch endings of all time. It also helped that it starred two movie stars at the peak of their powers: Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman as the veteran Detective Somerset and Oscar-winner Brad Pitt as the rookie Detective Mills. Plus Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow as Tracy Mills....AND Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey as John Doe. Now approaching this film's thirtieth anniversary, let's join our two intrepid detectives on the trail to find out........WHAT'S IN THE BOX. :o Host: Geoff GershonEdited By Ella GershonProducer: Marlene GershonSend us a textSupport the showhttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

POPPY KING Poppy King was just 19 years old she started her own lipstick company in Melbourne Australia where she was born. Frustrated with the lipsticks on the market none of which spoke to her modern vintage sensibility she was looking for something chic and more like the 1940s idea of lipstick, rich and matte. She was also looking for a different kind of marketing when it came to lip, lipsticks where each shade told a story. After finding a factory to produce her dream lipsticks, putting together a business plan and finding an investor, her first lipsticks that she released where a collection of seven shades named after each of the Seven Deadly Sins under the brand name Poppy. Her story and her lipsticks garnered huge attention in Australia and even internationally before the days of the internet, she was able to go viral through her unique approach to everything she had done. Within a year she was selling in stores such as Barneys New York, Harvey Nichols, Space NK and more. In 2002 exactly a decade after launching her brand name and company was sold to Estee Lauder Corporation and she was relocated to New York City to take up a Vice Presidential role within the organization to bring her unique ideas to their brands. With the success of that she decided to leave her role at Lipstick Queen so she would be free to take on more projects and innovations in lip and other categories for both her own ventures and in collaboration with others. After a global pandemic when masks were mandatory she took time out to use her lipsticks to paint and sculpt with and her first show as a lipstick artist launched in 2023! Now she's back in business and not a moment too soon as the beauty world is on fire with new channels via social media for the type of magical innovation that has always been Poppy's specialty. She will be launching her latestcreations under her own brand Poppy King as well as some exciting special projects taking lip color into the 21 stcentury with each lipstick telling a story and igniting the imagination Poppy has been known to say that her business idol is none other than Willy Wonka himself and that she has modeled her career on being the Willy Wonka of lipsticks Deborah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/what.ive.learnt/Mind, Film and Publishing: https://www.mindfilmandpublishing.com/Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/what-ive-learnt/id153556330Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3TQjCspxcrSi4yw2YugxBkBuzzsprout: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1365850

Three wise men met and discussed the Seven Sins of The Energy Transition. Laurent, Gerard and Michael dissect seven sectors that have captured attention, investments and public money and are at best dead ends, at worst disasters waiting to happen.Greed — “Subsidy Mining in a Lab Coat” (Carbon Capture & Direct Air Capture)A capital-intensive detour that soaks up public money while delivering trivial abatement at extreme cost, great PR for incumbents, weak climate math. Gluttony — “Three Kilowatt-Hours to Move One” (Hydrogen-for-Energy)An energy-wasting appetite: make H₂ with clean power, then throw most of that power away moving, compressing, liquefying, and reconverting it—useful only in narrow industrial niches. Sloth — “Always ‘On Time' by 2040” (Small Modular Reactors)Perma-prototype promises that stay years late and dollars short while wind, solar, and storage deploy at scale now. Pride — “We Will Bottle the Sun” (Fusion Salvationism)Technological hubris as strategy: a captivating physics quest, but not a climate plan for the 2030s. Invest in science, don't budget on miracles. Lust — “Drop-In Fantasies for Every Engine” (Biofuels-Everywhere)The seductive promise of pouring yesterday's fuels into tomorrow's problems; keep them for hard-to-electrify edges, not as a universal fix. Wrath — “Culture War at Sea” (America's Offshore-Wind Own-Goals)Ideological backlash, litigation, and policy whiplash torch viable projects and local supply chains while the rest of the world builds.Envy — “Green Halo by Checkbox” (ESG Box-Ticking)Chasing ratings and labels instead of real-world decarbonization and cash-flow-relevant risk; better to separate E, S, and G and measure outcomes

The collaboration between Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht is rightly legendary. The two men could not have been more different from each other, and like the Brahms/Joachim relationship I mentioned in my recent show about the Brahms Double concerto, the friendship between Weill and Brecht was stormy to say the least. The two collaborated on some of the most memorable works of the Weimar era in Germany, such as the Threepenny Opera, which features a pretty famous tune called Mack the Knife. Their final collaboration was on the “sung ballet” The Seven Deadly Sins. This is a piece that was written at a point of remarkably high tension within Weimar Germany. On an artistic level, the 1920s and early 1930s had seen a veritable explosion in the world of culture, with art, dance, theater, and music all featuring artists who were pushing the boundaries with wild experimentation and a kind of ecstatic fervor that produced some of the world's greatest and most memorable cultural achievements. On a parallel track however, the rise of the Nazis cast a pall over all of this. By 1933, both Brecht and Weill(who was Jewish) knew that Germany was not a place that they could stay safely. Weill ended up in Paris and then in the US for the rest of his life, while Brecht bounced around Europe before returning to East Germany after the war, hoping to be a part of the Marxist Utopia that he believed had been founded there. The simmering combination of Weill's mastery of transforming popular forms into a unique kind of classical music along with Brecht's pointed satire and brilliantly inventive libretti resulted in the Seven Deadly Sins, a piece that that brutally satirizes extreme capitalism and the degradation of the human soul that supposedly results from it. This is a nakedly political piece, and I should make it clear that by talking about it, by choosing to feature it on the show, and by regularly performing it, I don't necessarily endorse its views. Brecht was extreme in all ways, as we'll get to today, and the power of this piece in my opinion doesn't come from its politics, but from its remarkable and devastating portrayal of a human soul and the tragedies that can befall it. This is one of my favorite pieces of the whole 20th century, and I'm so happy to share it with you today. Join us!
