How much of your persona and habitual behaviors are influenced by cultural conditioning? How much of this conditioning is counter to your true essence? Society imprints so many expectations on us – what we believe, how we speak, how we dress and wear our hair, who we hang out with, what we eat, and the social and political ideologies we identify with. The influences can be so subtle that we don't even realize we are losing ourselves. But suddenly, we find we have lost our connection with our hearts, our sincerity, our love and compassion for others, our caring for the creatures of the earth, and our stewardship of the planet that is our source of sustenance – of life-breath. It is challenging to unhook from cultural conditioning and embody our true selves. We must heal our wounds, release limiting beliefs, and embrace our inherent worth beyond external validation. This means dismantling internalized narratives that keep us small and reclaiming our authentic sincerity. In this Meditation & Healing Circle, we sit in self-inquiry, listening with self-compassion and self-acceptance, to break free from cultural programming that is not our truth and embrace the full expression of who we truly are. You're invited to join us LIVE for The Meditation & Healing Circle - every Sunday at 10am US ET / 7am US PT. Through mindful business designs and embracing balance, entrepreneurs can thrive in their ventures and build their ideal life.As entrepreneurs and as women, we often find ourselves taking on multiple tasks between work, family, and personal lives. This delicate balance can be especially challenging during economic shifts that affect business dynamics. Taking a resilient approach to creating your business and ideal life can help manage these uncertainties while continuing to carve out time for yourself.Embrace a Holistic Business ApproachResilience is built through embracing a holistic approach to your life and business. You want to create a business that supports your ideal life. Looking at your financial goals and how you want to be present for your family, and yourself are all important factors in avoiding burnout. This involves focusing on economic success, personal health, and family obligations. Ensuring that work habits are sustainable in the long term is vital.Prioritize the Vision and Values of Your Ideal LifeWhen you are creating the blueprint of what you want your business to look like, be sure that you are building your business around your life and not the other way around. If it is important to you to have a business that allows you the freedom and flexibility to be with your family, set that out in your plans and build your business around that goal. Be clear about what you want your business to look like and how it can integrate with your ideal life.Rest and Recharge for Optimal PerformanceRest is a vital component of entrepreneurial success. Many women operate well under high stress, but it doesn't allow you to be the best CEO you can be. You need to be calm and grounded to plan, delegate, and have brain space for bigger-picture ideas. Having regular downtime where you get to be creative and have thoughts outside of your business is essential for avoiding burnout and building your ideal life.Cultural Conditioning and Societal ExpectationsSociety's expectations of women have been to perform, meet deadlines, and make other people happy, all while supporting their families. This pressure to succeed is not sustainable or healthy. Take a step back from these expectations and realize what your priorities are. Ask yourself how you can align your actions with what you want your ideal life to be.About MelanieMelanie Childers is the Master Business Coach for values-led coaches, course creators, and CEOs. In this episode of the Crazy Wisdom Podcast, host Stewart Alsop is joined by Reya Manna, founder of the Song Keepers School, for an inspiring conversation that traverses spirituality, the power of the human voice, psychedelics, ancient creation myths, and the cultural significance of storytelling and singing. Reya shares her journey from being discouraged from pursuing a life centered around singing to discovering its deeper healing potential during South American plant medicine ceremonies. The discussion touches on the sacred role of sound in protection and healing, the pitfalls of artificial intelligence's detachment from soul and embodiment, and the importance of nurturing authentic self-expression amidst modern distractions like social media. This rich dialogue emphasizes the profound wisdom carried through connection to nature, the divine feminine, and practices of deep listening, which Reya also integrates into her Song Keepers School. If you're seeking to reconnect with your voice and align with ancient healing traditions, you can learn more about Reya's work and upcoming programs at www.reyamanna.com. The vibration of our own voice can ground us, heal emotional wounds, and serve as a tool for blessing and transformation when used with intentionality and love. This deeper understanding of the voice's role in healing can reframe how we view self-expression and creativity.Rediscovering Ancestral Wisdom and Connection to Nature: The conversation highlights how many of us have become disconnected from ancestral practices and the natural world. Reya explains how nature holds wisdom in its patterns and sounds, serving as a "library" of memory and guidance. Through offerings, prayers, and song, individuals can rekindle a relationship with the earth that restores a sense of belonging and purpose.Singing as a Transmission of Love and Sacred Intentions: In contrast to the commodification of music in modern society, Reya describes how the act of singing has traditionally been used by shamans and healers to convey love, protection, and blessings. By building a practice of singing from the heart, individuals can access their authentic voice and align with their higher purpose, amplifying their energy field and positively impacting others.Navigating the Modern Landscape of Technology and AI with Discernment: Stewart and Reya discuss the rise of artificial intelligence and its impact on creativity and self-awareness. They reflect on how AI can replicate but cannot embody the soulful essence of human expression. This prompts a reminder to foster resilience against digital distractions by grounding ourselves in embodied experiences and genuine human connection. The Interplay Between Spirituality, Desire, and Social Conditioning: The discussion delves into the Gnostic myths and the idea that true desires originate from the "high heart" and guide us toward our soul's blueprint. However, lower desires—amplified by social media and consumerism—can entrap us in illusions. Recognizing this distinction can help individuals reclaim their agency and align with their authentic spiritual path. The Divine Feminine and Sacred Balance in Creation: Reya brings attention to the erasure of the divine feminine in many spiritual narratives and emphasizes the importance of restoring balance by honoring both masculine and feminine energies. She shares stories of ancient priestesses and the sacred role of women as conduits of creation and wisdom, suggesting that reclaiming this knowledge is essential for collective healing and spiritual evolution.A Call to Collective Kindness and Creative Agency: The conversation ends with a reflection on the power of individual actions in creating ripples of collective change. Whether through a simple song, a kind gesture, or a moment of deep listening, every act of love and care contributes to a more harmonious world. Reya underscores the importance of remembering that we are creators of our reality, capable of shaping a future imbued with compassion, connection, and truth.

Summary In this conversation, Meli and Liv explore the nuanced definitions of selfishness and selflessness, challenging societal norms that label selfishness as negative. They discuss the importance of self-care and the need for individuals to prioritize their own needs to be able to contribute positively to the world. The conversation delves into childhood conditioning, the people-pleasing epidemic, and the journey from selflessness to a healthier form of selfishness, termed 'selffulness.' Liv shares her personal vows to herself as a powerful example of self-love and commitment to personal growth. Keywords selfishness, selflessness, selffulness, personal growth, self-care, childhood conditioning, people-pleasing, balance, relationships, empowerment Takeaways Selfishness and selflessness are two ends of the same spectrum. Being selfish can be a form of self-care and empowerment. Childhood conditioning often leads to people-pleasing behaviors. Finding balance between selflessness and selfishness is crucial for personal growth. It's important to check in with oneself before giving to others. You can't pour from an empty cup; self-care is essential. The journey from selflessness to selfishness can involve a necessary swing. Selffulness is about being full enough to give to others authentically. Self-love is a vital part of being able to love others well. Creating a healed world requires individuals to be selfful. How to harness the power of myths and archetypes on the path of the soul - Mike Bais

The Primal Happiness Show

This week's show is with returning guest Mike Bais. Mike is a physiotherapist, counselor, university lecturer and author, also having had his own practice for many years. He is a trained priest in the esoteric christian tradition, which lead him to follow the mystical side of this lineage called the A.S.A. (Apostolic Succession of Arimathea). He believes that the Teachings of Christ are universal and should not be limited to a religious structure. His esoteric training comes from the western mystery tradition and the Toledano Kabbalah. Living in the Netherlands (Utrecht) he extensively worked with teachers and groups in the UK.  After some decades of study and practice in the western esoteric tradition, the inner work came together in these three streams or disciplines that make up the Circle of Avalon. Mike sees it as his life's work to teach these traditions to whomever wishes to receive them. He is a mystic and teacher by nature and through his groups, individual sessions, workshops and writing, transmits them in the most pure and true way he knows. Mike is the author of 3 books: Paths on the Tree of Wisdom – A course in 21st Century Kabbalah, A Kabbalistic view on science: Book 1 and A Kabbalistic view on science: Book 2. In this show, Mike and Lian discuss the power of myths, legends, and archetypes on the path of the soul. Mike shares his own journey of discovering the importance of myths and working with the round table mythology. They also discuss the cultural conditioning that dismisses the role of myth and the need to reclaim its relevance in our lives. They explore how archetypes can be used as guides on our individual quests and how they can help us navigate different aspects of our lives. We'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you'll learn from this episode: Cultural conditioning often dismisses the role and relevance of myth, but it is important to reclaim its significance in our lives - working with myths and archetypes allows us to access deeper dimensions of ourselves and explore what is possible beyond societal limitations. Myths have the power to inspire and guide us in our personal growth and spiritual transformation. Although there is an objective aspect to archetypes, subjective experience is an essential aspect of working with archetypes, and it is important to embrace the subjective nature of these experiences. Trust and honour that subjectivity by finding a myth that resonates with you as a first step. The interplay between different archetypes and the relationships between them are crucial in understanding their power and significance - this is part of why working with archetypes within a community or group can amplify their potency and create a deeper sense of connection and understanding. I'd love to hear from you!How does our society's definition of happiness fall short of what truly fulfills us? Join me for a thought-provoking conversation with Julie Cowles, a former therapist who has transitioned into a spiritual life coach. Inspired by Stephanie Harrison's "The New Happy," we dissect how cultural conditioning and individualism contribute to our feelings of dissatisfaction and emphasize the essential role of building relationships and tapping into inner wisdom to find genuine happiness. Is happiness something you have to chase, or might it already be within you?  We explore the idea that happiness resides in the present moment. Julie and I break down the foundations of true happiness—self-love, self-acceptance, and self-compassion. Through mindfulness, you can capture the small moments of joy in everyday life. We also touch on recognizing your personal values, setting boundaries, and overcoming the inner critic. This episode underscores the power of community, generosity, and forgiveness as essential components of personal happiness. We shed light on the societal reluctance to ask for help and reframe it as an enriching opportunity for all involved. We also touch on the importance of grounding yourself in nature to achieve a state of calm. We wrap up with a powerful message of love and gratitude, encouraging you to connect with your inherent love to experience the joy of life. Join us for an enriching episode that promises to change the way you think about happiness.Notes:Julie CowlesTikTok: @juliesunriseInstagram:  https://www.instagram.com/juliesunrise/Substack: https://substack.com/@juliesunrise“Self love is all you need to be happy. There are serendipitous moments in life, particularly when two women who are equally passionate about storytelling and connection end up on a podcast together. In this episode, Anne Muhlethaler, coach, consultant and host of Out of the Clouds, interviews author, advisor and your hype-woman Lisa Bragg. Lisa tells Anne her story, starting by sharing her journey from TV news reporter to launching her business, MediaFace, pioneering what we now know as content for our digital world, before offering thoughts on the challenges posed by growing up with Bragg as a last name. Anne asks Lisa about the genesis for her book, Bragging Rights, as well as how she designed the proprietary research underpinning her argument. Lisa goes on to speak about reframing bragging as purposeful self-promotion, and the importance of creating a safe environment for people to talk about their successes either at home or at work, to support personal and professional growth. While some research out there advises women not to ‘brag' or celebrate their successes because of potential backlash, Lisa challenges the concept (and the research) and suggests that it's time for us to change the culture and sister up.  She also goes on to explain how exploring one's personal values can be one of many exercises (there are plenty more in her book) to explore meaningful self-promotion, highlighting that we are all the ‘CEO of our own life.' The two women also share their own experiences, clarifying that while this purposeful self-promotion exploration is important, it's often challenging. Anne admits to barely being able to name any of her successes and Lisa responds that ‘she is her book,' meaning that she too has times where she goes back into her shell, wishing to be discovered instead of doing the work of putting herself out there. Thankfully Lisa is crystal clear on her mission: to help others be seen and heard. She leaves listeners with this recommendation: Don't wait for others to give you opportunities, take them into your own hands.  Before adding ‘celebrate your successes and don't tear down others for their achievements.'A powerful conversation that can help all of us reframe what we know about bragging and self-promotion. Sal Di Stefano sheds light on an unexpectedly profound subject: the transformative power of parenting. While Sal has made a name for himself in the fitness realm, his recent social media musings about the joys and challenges of family life have sparked both acclaim and controversy.   The Parenting Paradox: Countercultural yet Fulfilling  In today's fast-paced, selfie-obsessed world, embracing the traditional family structure and championing the role of parenting is practically revolutionary. Sal's candid reflections on fatherhood have polarized audiences. While many parents resonate with his message, others express disdain, viewing children as impediments to personal freedom and success.   The Real Workout: Parenthood  Sal and Timmerie delve into the essence of parenting, contrasting the societal portrayal of it as a burdensome life sentence with the reality of its unparalleled emotional rewards. They tackle the pervasive myths surrounding the financial and lifestyle "costs" of children, arguing that the real sacrifice lies not in what you give up but in what you gain: a love that transcends self-interest, fostering personal growth and deep, meaningful connections.   Cultural Conditioning vs. Fulfillment  Sal points out the emptiness of chasing wealth and beauty at the expense of missing out on the deepest human relationships possible.    A Call to Action: Rethink Happiness  It's a call to reevaluate societal values and personal priorities. Sal and Timmerie challenge you to consider parenthood not just as a life stage but as a life-enhancing journey that offers unparalleled opportunities for growth, happiness, and fulfillment. In a world obsessed with superficial achievements, they argue, raising children stands out as the most rewarding and transformative experience one can have.

Dr. Melanie Joy delves into the deep-seated psychology behind the consumption of meat and our societal disconnect with the animals we consume. Raised with a deep affection for pets but simultaneously consuming animal products, she had an epiphany after a health scare. This led her to study the psychology of violence, non-violence, and particularly the ideology she coined as 'carnism' - the system that conditions us to eat certain animals. Through her research, Joy addresses the biases, justifications, and defense mechanisms that enable such behaviors, all while highlighting the importance of understanding and challenging these ingrained beliefs for a more compassionate future. #Carnism #AnimalRights #MindfulEating

In this episode, Marc David, founder of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, speaks with 38-year-old Juliana who has faced challenges around body weight and image since she was mocked for being a “chubby” kid. Originally from Brazil, Juliana now lives in Bonn Germany, where she finds the cultural attitudes on weight and body image are significantly different.    Despite there being a decidedly less stringent idea of beauty in Germany, Juliana is finding it hard to let go of beauty concepts she grew up with in Brazil. She often worries about food and whether she's getting the whole experience of eating “right” - whether that's eating the “right” foods or eating the “right” amount of calories each day.    Marc coaches Juliana and the rest of us trying to lose weight to see that, while weight loss is a fine goal for many, it becomes problematic when it becomes paramount to everything else in our life. When weight loss is more important than almost anything else, it's very likely we hold the toxic nutritional belief that we'll be happier when we're thinner.   In their conversation, Marc speaks to this rampant belief, why it causes so many of us to suffer unnecessarily, and how to begin to forge a new path.   -------------------------   Learn more about us at The Institute for the Psychology of Eating: https://psychologyofeating.com/    Explore a career as Mind Body Eating Coach specializing in Eating Psychology & Mind Body Nutrition by signing up for our free ebook series: https://lp.psychologyofeating.com/eating-psychology-video-series/   Follow us on social:  - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IPEfanpage - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eatingpsychology/ - Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/eatingpsych   #psychologyofeating #foodpsychology #nutritionexpert #weightloss #weightlossdiet #peaceofmind #enjoyfood #relationship #guilt #consequences #breakfast #diets #binging #healthychoice #restricting #selfesteem #bodyimage #bodyweight #positivemindset #bodypositivity #beinyourbody #embodiment #emotionaleating #howtoloveyourself #loveyourbody #bodylove #marcdavid
