Invité Steve O'Brien, Une fondation pour la persévérance scolaire by CLAUDE QUIRION - Conférencier
Steve O’Brien is a very fortunate man, and he knows it: an amazing wife, wonderful kids, and his other great passion, voice over. Not to mention an insightful business partner (his French Bulldog, Hugo). Steve spent has many years behind a microphone working in radio. During that time, he began doing freelance voice work. Over time, Steve’s voice over business grew to point that he could no longer continue in radio. He said goodbye, with a full heart, to the industry that gave him his start as a storyteller. He’s never looked back. Taking direction well, giving you the read you want, and making your script come to life are all in a day’s work for Steve. In 2021, Steve launched the podcast The Voice Over Hustle. Steve’s guests include of business and industry pros, who give advice to both novice and seasoned voice actors alike.
Steve has a passion for the human brain. He understands that people are complex enough without enforcing all sorts of HR policies. At his technology company, Newicon, Steve is interested in setting up an effective ‘game’ for employees. This means establishing boundaries or rules, such as principles around sharing feedback, that employees should adopt. By being clear around behaviours, people have a better idea of how to act effectively as a group. Steve has a strong sense of self-belief and understands that others also need him to trust in their capacity. He enables people by allowing them to learn and develop their skills and encourages their wider abilities. This might mean making a loss or breaking even on some projects in order to give staff the space to grow. He wants to invest in staff thinking and creativity. For example, Newicon promotes energetic, stimulating working spaces so staff can spend more time in areas they enjoy. This applies to clients too. Newicon empowers clients by creating a ‘game-like’ environment where they have a safe space to play and explore. Steve brings out their creativity as part of their software creation process. He’s also keen to hide in the background allowing others to lead--keeping his mouth firmly shut! Steve is extremely humble, intelligent and down to earth. Hi. My name is Nick Maritato and I've decided to watch every episode of Step By Step in order for some reason. Not only that, but I've forced some of my good friends to watch episodes and then talk to me about them on this podcast. You might be asking, "Why are you doing this?" Tbh, I think it's because I thought of the name (Ep By Ep) and then recorded the theme song (at the beginning of every podcast)and then I was like, "Welp, guess I gotta do this podcast now." So, yeah, I guess you could say we're searching for something here, I just don't know what it is yet. We might be searching for the answer to the question, "Is Step By Step a good show?" or "Do I like Step By Step?" Regardless, this is now a podcast. We do know that. This is the first ever episode of Ep By Ep and we're talking about the first ever episode of Step By Step. Listen to comedian, actor and all around great dude, Steve O'Brien and I go through the origin story of the Lamberts and the Fosters scene by scene.
I know, you're stuck inside and you're bored. Well you know what really cheers me up when I'm feeling down? Rolled up kings over aces....Oh sorry, wrong reference, that was from Rounders. Steve O'Brien and his brilliant reads. The man is a genius, seriously, so I've put together a compilation of his best NGOB Pre-opens, most of which he improvised. He's not just our guy, you can actually hire him yourself! We don't pay him enough to lock him up exclusively...We actually don't pay him shit, so maybe you should hire him so he doesn't have to go back to Thailand and clean up after...Never mind, I don't think he wants me talking about that part of his life. Anyway, go to https://steveobrienvo.com/ and tell him The Nice Guys sent you. Have him create your podcast intro and outro. Even if you don't have a podcast yet, he'll make an intro and outro for when you do have one. Just get him to record an outgoing message for your voice mail, it's not like anyone actually listens to that anymore anyway. Get him to read the phone book, it's worth it just to hear his dulcet tones. My guest today is Steve O’Brien a songwriter who originally moved from Connecticut to Nashville to pursue songwriting after graduating from Fairfield University in 1973. He spent several years working at the offices and studios of Owen Bradley, Chet Atkins, and Ray Stevens. And had a couple of songs enter the Billboard Top 100 Country Chart in the mid-1970s. He then built his own recording studio and formed Steve O’Brien Music BMI in 1976 to be the exclusive worldwide publisher of his compositions, which have sold over 10 million copies. Steve’s songs have been featured on numerous recent recordings, including two songs on Danni Nicholls’ “Mockingbird Lane” album, which was nominated for UK Americana Association 2017 Album Of The Year. Steve cowrote all 10 songs on JJ Lawhorn’s 2018 album, “The Huntsman” produced by Jeremy Stover which recently topped one million streams. Recent releases include Southern Halo, and Bailey James, produced and engineered at his studio and now climbing the Music Row Country independent chart. If that wasn’t enough, Steve also published a novel called The Ferrari Club in 2013. Thanks to our sponsors! We decided on having Steve O'Brien as a guest just as we knew his movie career was about to take off. Once trapped in an elevator with Shelly Long. I believe his intellectual property for a song he wrote was stolen by Elton John. Let's welcome the Master of all time space and dimension, the one man responsible for making this pathetic show a success, the very definition of Renaissance Man! ... the person I aspire to be someday. One day fresh out of heroin detox, welcome Steve O back to The Nice Guys. BTW- There are more eggs in this episode than at the White House rose garden on Easter Sunday. In Jeremiah chapter 16, verse 17, God said, “For I see all their ways. They are not hidden from My face, and their sin is not hidden from My eyes.” I’m recording this on Sunday night. Today after church, we had another one of our big family get togethers here at my home. During the summer months, we do this every five or six weeks. Since the family is so large, we celebrate the birthdays and enjoy food and the swimming pool. The reason I’m telling you this is that one of the family members that was here today was my brother-in-law, Steve O’Brien. Many of you probably know that he’s the pastor of LifeSpring Assembly of God, where I was the tech guy for close to twenty years. One of the great things about having a brother-in-law who is a pastor is the really great conversations we have about spiritual things. Our talks are always wide-ranging, and today was no different. At one point he brought up Hagar from Genesis. You remember Hagar. She was Sarai’s Egyptian slave, and when Sarai didn’t get pregnant, Sarai told Abram to lay with Hagar so that the Lord’s promise would be fulfilled through her. Yeah, that was a bad plan, but that’s not the point we’re looking at today. So Hagar did get pregnant, and when she did, she took a snotty attitude with Sarai. So Sarai mistreated Hagar, and Hagar ran away. And then an angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert. And the angel asked her where she was from and where she was going. Hagar told him that she was running away from Sarai, and the angel told her to go back to her and submit to her. And he told Hagar that she would have so many descendants that they could not be counted. And Hagar called the Lord “the God who sees me”. So in Jeremiah God said, “For I see all their ways” and Hagar called Him “the God who sees me.” Yes, God sees the sins we do, but He also sees us when we are in distress. He sees us because He is a God who deeply loves us and watches over us like a shepherd watches his sheep or a doting parent watches their child. We do not serve a God who is disconnected from His creation. Our God knows what we need before we do. He cares. He loves. Your thoughts?
Part 2 of the “What I did instead of college” extravaganza with the story-filled Steve O’Brien. Steve tells us about growing up in the Chicago sketch & improv comedy scene, starting drinking, and getting electrocuted. Oh, and basically doing a Pee Wee Herman impression across the country. Also, if you haven’t heard part 1 with...
Steve O’Brien (actor/comedian, “Team Submarine”) is our first College Stories guest who straight up bailed on college, and instead, used that time to live some of the craziest stories we’ve had on this show. His age 18-22 college era involved running away from home, across the country, and not telling ANYBODY about it, and eventually...

The tsunami of news (or, if you will, newsnami) continues this week, with tales of conventions, extras, tie-ins, and so, so much about An Adventure in Space and Time. All but mere pre-amble to the second part of the John Nathan-Turner miniscope, with special guest Steve O’Brien, who spares nothing in his analysis of the somewhat shaky years comprising the tail-end of JNT’s era as producer of Doctor Who. The Three Who Rule also give their thoughts on the latter half of the JNT era, rounding out a jam-packed episode of Radio Free Skaro sure to pale in comparison to the utter madness that is the final weeks before the 50th anniversary. Prepare yourselves! Check out the show notes at http://www.radiofreeskaro.com
Adam and Nate talk with comedian Steve O'Brien about the time he pooped in a litter box. Seriously, Steve pooped in a litter box.
