Grady McAuliffe's debut single "On the Edge" released on March 7th 2025 to worldwide streaming platforms through Pilot Light Records. The single was produced by McAuliffe with Ethan Isaac, Tom Stewart and Joel P. Kelley. It was recorded at Isaac's owned and operated Factory Underground Studio in Norwalk, CT and mastered by John Shyloski, along with many more songs to be released soon. McAuliffe performed at Daytona Bike week on March 3rd & 5th ahead of his single's release. "We were a hit with the beer drinking bikers in Daytona. That felt really good. When they like you, they really let you know it... and they let you know when they don't!" said McAuliffe. McAuliffe first found success with his song "All Time Low," which was featured in the Christmas movie for the television series "Heartland." It was during this period of writing and recording in Nashville TN that he first began to hear his songs recorded in a Nashville-country style; he realized what a natural fit it was to his style of storyteller-songwriting. Today he calls his style of music "northern country," a mix of Nashville Country and Alternative/Southern Hard Rock. "Rock or Country, we're an American band, playing music from the heart. People respond to that," he said. Here is the new video of On The Edge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6VVr6XHoRgFor more on Grady log on belowhttps://www.gradymcauliffe.com/

Jim interviews Nashville Country Artist Chris Canterbury to talk about his newest album "Quaalude Lullabies", the songwriting process, touring, what he does besides music and more! Chris writes from the heart and while some of his songs are not entirely auto-biographical they will pull you in with their honesty. There's not a bad song on the album and you really need to listen to Chris' music. He needs to be heard. ABOUT CHRIS CANTERBURY'S new album "When I sat down to write this project, I tried to present each topic as a straight-forward Saturday morning kitchen conversation. That's how I approach songwriting and it's worked for me for a long time” says Chris Canterbury, a Louisiana native singer-songwriter, now based in Nashville. The project Canterbury is talking about is Quaalude Lullabies, a nine track collection of mostly sad songs that offers on-the-nose lyrical phrasing, subtlety loose production, and an honest insight into razor-edge topics like addiction, depression, and loneliness. In what started as a thought experiment, Quaalude Lullabies was self-produced by Canterbury, his first opportunity to be on both sides of the control room window. “I wanted to woodshop a record together that felt like Nebraska,” says Canterbury. “I wanted it to be loose like a box of bedroom demo tapes, but cohesive enough to stand on its own. I feel like we ended up with a solid album.” ************* KNOW GOOD MUSIC can be found on Podbean, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Iheart Radio, Pandora and almost anywhere you listen to podcasts. Introducing Lexi Sidders, future country music star. Join us for this amazing episode about her career, new music and Christmas traditions.#lexisidders #lexisiddersmusic #mmfcpodcast
Richie Scholl was living a pretty cool life. Having moved from Queensland Australia to Nashville Tennessee to further his career in the music business in 2007, he was performing on a regular basis, sometimes 6 nights a week in Music City. While doing so, he met his future bandmates Brian Powell (bassist), and Derek Smith (drums), and the 3 of them went on to form “The Richie Scholl Band”. Then Covid hit, and literally shut everything down, including the band's ability to play live together. Needing something to do to keep him and his bandmates busy, and not lose the creative flow that the three of them had started, Richie went on to write songs, and thus began the journey of recording their self-titled album “The Richie Scholl Band”. Born and raised in the cattle, coal, and rail town of Rockhampton, in Queensland, Australia, Richie Scholl started playing bars and clubs, literally a few months after first picking up a guitar at age 13. Richie's live shows are a testament to the years spent “paying his dues” in front of a live crowd. Although it wasn't long before he was writing his own music, and eventually released his first album “Zeke's Wheel”. A record influenced by his early Rock influences by artists such as AC/DC and The Black Crowes. It wasn't until meeting with well respected Australian producer Michael Flanders in early 2006 however, that things started happening for Richie. Work was scheduled to begin on a second album, “The Blacktop Junkie's Guide To Richie Scholl” almost immediately. This album resulted in #1, and #5 singles on Country radio, and a #35 video on CMC Australia. During the recording of the album, the decision was made to introduce Richie Scholl and his music to the U.S market. After a brief trip to Nashville in 2006 to meet with labels and industry people, Richie relocated to Nashville, TN in early 2007. www.therichieschollband.com Songs featured in this episode include: “No Man's Land” Written by Richie Scholl Performed by The Richie Scholl Band Copyright 2021 “Mama” Written by Richie Scholl Performed by The Richie Scholl Band Copyright 2021 “G.G.C.G.” Written by Richie Scholl Performed by The Richie Scholl Band Copyright 2021 “Lockdown” Written by Richie Scholl Performed by The Richie Scholl Band Copyright 2021 The Business Side of Music ™ © 2022 Lotta Dogs Productions LLC Showrunner and Executive Producer Emeritus: Tom Sabella Producer and Host (the guy who has a face for podcasting): Bob Bender Co-Producer - Audio/Video Editor (the man behind the curtain): Mark Sabella Director of Video and Continuity (the brains of the entire operation): Deborah Halle Marketing and Social Media (all knowing): Sarah Fleshner for 362 Entertainment All Around Problem Solver (and Mental Health Therapist for us): Connie Ribas Recorded inside what could be an old beat up Airstream Trailer located somewhere on what's left of Music Row in Nashville TN (Man I sure do miss Noshville, and the Longhorn Steakhouse) Mixed and Mastered at Music Dog Studios in Nashville, TN Editing and Post at Midnight Express Studio located in Olian, NY Production Sound Design: Keith Stark Voice Over and Promo: Lisa Fuson Special Thanks to the creator and founder of the podcast, Tom Sabella, along with Traci Snow for producing and hosting over 100 episodes of the original "Business Side of Music" podcast and trusting us to carry on their legacy. Our guest this hour is award-winning singer, songwriter, and musician, Sean McConnell. Sean is considered a top tier collaborator in the Nashville Country and Americana music scenes, and well beyond for that matter. His latest album, A Horrible Beautiful Dream, features thirteen songs marked by emotional depth, world-weary tones, and a tongue-in-cheek quality that most songwriters can only attempt to find, while McConnell has proven that he has it down pat. We had a great chat about his new album, how his life has changed since adopting his daughter Abi, who lives with cerebral palsy, as well as what it's like to maintain an authentic voice when writing songs for other artists. My guest today is Jay Tooke an Award-winning, Canadian born producer, songwriter, and musician who moved to Nashville back in 2012. Having gotten his start as a working musician at the age of 17 some of his earliest memories are of plunking out melodies by ear on the family's piano, but it was the intro to Dire Straits “Money for Nothing” that lit a fire in his soul for the drums. Not long after he started a love affair with the guitar and from then on, his sights were set on a career in music. During his 26 year career, he has toured all over the world with a range of artists from Canada and the US, and has produced records that have garnered critical and commercial success in Australia, New Zealand, Germany as well as Canada and the US. His philosophy behind making records has always been about helping the artist find their own voice in the studio. It's never about forcing ideas or making the record he wants to make. It's a collaboration between producer and artist to find the truest form of the song. Allowing the material to become the best version of itself through exploration and experimentation.

My guest today is Steve O’Brien a songwriter who originally moved from Connecticut to Nashville to pursue songwriting after graduating from Fairfield University in 1973. He spent several years working at the offices and studios of Owen Bradley, Chet Atkins, and Ray Stevens. And had a couple of songs enter the Billboard Top 100 Country Chart in the mid-1970s. He then built his own recording studio and formed Steve O’Brien Music BMI in 1976 to be the exclusive worldwide publisher of his compositions, which have sold over 10 million copies. Steve’s songs have been featured on numerous recent recordings, including two songs on Danni Nicholls’ “Mockingbird Lane” album, which was nominated for UK Americana Association 2017 Album Of The Year. Steve cowrote all 10 songs on JJ Lawhorn’s 2018 album, “The Huntsman” produced by Jeremy Stover which recently topped one million streams. Recent releases include Southern Halo, and Bailey James, produced and engineered at his studio and now climbing the Music Row Country independent chart. If that wasn’t enough, Steve also published a novel called The Ferrari Club in 2013. Thanks to our sponsors!
