GET YOUR MULTIVERSE NEWS MERCH HERE:https://multiverse-news-shop.fourthwall.com/Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesDuring a recent appearance on Carmelo Antony's 7 PM in Brooklyn Podcast, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler reignited speculation that Denzel Washington is set to play a pivotal role in the third film of his socially thoughtful superhero franchise. When questioned about Washington's prior claims that Coogler was developing the film with a role intended for him specifically, the director confirmed them, saying, “there's no fiction out there about that”. In unrelated, but still Marvel news, tickets for The Fantastic Four: First Steps went on sale last week, crashing several major theaters online ticketing services and accompanied by a new trailer that appears to show us our first look at Franklin Richards. On the TV side of things, per Deadline sources, Schitt's Creek actor Emily Hampshire has joined the cast of the upcoming Vision Disney Plus series as E.D.I.T.H., the artificial intelligence that appeared in Spider-Man: Far From Home. And finally, a second trailer for Ironheart was released on Monday.Late last week, Superman director and DC Studios co-head, James Gunn took to social media, as he is want to do, to announce and celebrate the completion of the film's final visual effects shot, with which he claimed the film to be 100% done ahead of its July 11 release. In the wake of that announcement Gunn took the opportunity to address fan questions surrounding the film's runtime, which he confirmed to be 2 hours and 9 minutes including credits and post credit scenes, while also kiboshing any speculation that Warner Bros had forced a shorter, mandated runtime, saying there was zero truth to it and that Warner Bros could not have interfered even if they wanted to, as it's a DC Studios film. All of this is compounded by rumors that DC Studios will not be focusing on any of their films at SDCC and Gunn's cagey Entertainment Weekly interview from earlier today where he claimed the DCU's Wonder Woman film is being written as we speak.Time for another good old fashioned trailer park, featuring the highly anticipated follow-up to last year's breakout hit, Wicked: For Good, whose first trailer garnered 113 million views in its first 24 hours – and our first full length trailer for Noah Hawley's upcoming FX series, Alien: Earth, which also announced the series for an August 12 premiereMarvel Animation premiered the first episode of the Disney Plus series Eyes of Wakanda during a panel at the Annecy Animation Festival in France, Monday morning. During the panel we learned from director Todd Harris the show will be “anthology-adjacent” and will consist of four episodes.Mia Goth has joined Ryan Gosling in Star Wars: Starfighter, the feature from director Shawn Levy. Although casting details are scarce at the moment, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that she will be playing a villain. HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series has announced nine actors playing key roles for its first season tackling Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The added cast includes Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge. Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, will reprise the role on Broadway. Felton will join the cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway starting Nov. 11, for a 19-week engagement through March 22, 2026. A VR game based on Marvel's Deadpool franchise is set to launch later this year from Meta Quest with Neil Patrick Harris voicing the Merc with a Mouth. The game will launch sometime later this year.
Brian Cox and Robin Ince referee as Saturn and Jupiter square up to each other in a planetary face off. Representing team Saturn is space physicist Professor Michele Dougherty, and in the opposite corner is Dr Paul Abel on Team Jupiter. Katherine Parkinson judges this cosmic contest, casting the final vote to decide who will be awarded the coveted Kuiper Belt. It is not all about looks of course, but it is a significant factor in a first impression. Both Saturn and Jupiter score highly in this department, boasting magnificent icy rings and colourful stripes respectively. But what lies beneath their aesthetically pleasing exteriors? How do the planets compare on the inside? The gas giants have been subjects of investigation for many years, with historic missions like Galileo and Cassini uncovering their secrets. But they aren't alone, each planet is surrounded by its own mini solar system of moons, which get space scientists just as excited as their parent planets do. Both Jupiter and Saturn have moons which are hot contenders in the search for extra-terrestrial life and our panel discuss the future plans to explore them.Producer: Melanie Brown Exec Producer: Sasha Feachem Researcher: Olivia Jani

Today we welcome Australian actor Stephen Curry to the podcast for a chinwag about his varied career in TV and film, most notably his outstanding performance in 'Hounds of Love' and as King Yakan in Marvel's 'Thor: Love and Thunder'. We discuss the power of wigs and hair dye, rudeness dressed up as a well-meaning compliment, and why he doesn't quite understand the appeal of 'Taskmaster'. Stephen then explains what it's really like to shoot in remote locations, why some movies should only be watched once, and why he has only good things to say about his 'Spreadsheet' co-star Katherine Parkinson. He then reminds me of his turn as a camera-toting tourist in the Greg McLean Outback Horror film 'Rogue', before explaining how he somehow managed to play three different characters in 'Neighbours' without anyone noticing. We end by squeezing in a few cheeky format questions while Stephen explains how he managed to secure a lifetime supply of potato chips. Rivals is a television series made for Disney+. It is an adaptation of the 1988 Jilly Cooper novel of the same name. It stars an ensemble cast including David Tennant, Aidan Turner, Katherine Parkinson, Lisa McGrillis, Alex Hassell, Nafessa Williams, Emily Atack and Danny Dyer.
Dame Jilly Cooper. What a legend. For the uninitiated (where have you been?) she's a journalist and author most famous for her bestselling Rutshire Chronicle series which includes Riders, Polo and Rivals - the latter of which has now made into a hugely popular TV series starring David Tennant, Danny Dyer and Katherine Parkinson. In the past, Dame Jilly's books have been unfairly dismissed as mere ‘bonkbusters', charting the sex lives of the upper classes. But, as I discover, there's much more to both her writing - and to her. We talk about her failures with technology, why she wishes she could throw more things away, as well as the terrifying time she lost an entire manuscript on the number 28 bus and had to rewrite it. Plus her experiences of interviewing Margaret Thatcher, her friendship with the Queen, her obsession with beautiful people and ‘macho men' - and why she'd wholeheartedly recommend adoption to others. Thank you Dame Jilly. A total sport (but we knew that). You can watch Rivals on Disney+ now. Have something to share of your own? I'd love to hear from you! I am OBSESSED with Rivals, which is just the perfect mix of camp nostalgia and (occasionally inappropriate) 80s style romance. David Tennant as a ludicrous villain? Sure, why not. And Danny Dyer in a moustache? Win. Win. Win. So, I'm delighted that Katherine Parkinson is my guest today, as she's playing one of my favourite characters in the show. She's so funny, and relatable, and bonkers - and of course so is Katherine. We talk about all sorts in this episode - from the fan letter, of which we are both fans; to navigating on-screen and off-screen romance. Classic Crushed. You're going to love it. Thanks to everyone who came to the live recordings - they are so much fun to do. We'll try to do some more next year. lots of love MCS x Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Katherine Parkinson has graced our TV screens for almost two decades, from Doc Martin and The IT Crowd to Humans and Here We Go. Now she has a comedy drama airing on ITV called Significant Other, in which she plays one half of an odd couple - neighbours who meet in highly unusual circumstances. She joins Clare McDonnell to discuss. Former Labour MP and government Minister Dame Joan Ruddock tells Clare about her call for a free vote in the Commons to legalise assisted dying. She admitted she was ready to end her terminally ill husband's life to stop his pain. Our New Year's day programme on negotiating provoked one listener to write to us: 'I would love you to cover negotiations between carers and their parent with dementia. Another world! As is negotiating between carer and their siblings'. Professor June Andrews, who's a fellow of the Royal College of Nursing and an author of Carers and Caring, and Dr Lis Boulton, Health and Care Manager at the charity Age UK, discuss. The Storm We Made is a new book by the debut author Vanessa Chan. Set in what we know today as Malaysia across two timelines - British colonialism and Japanese colonialism - it follows bored housewife Cecily who risks it all to become a spy for a general. But her decisions have huge repercussions for her and her family. Vanessa Chan joins Clare to discuss her book which was fought over in a seven-way auction by publishers in the UK. Steph Daniels gave up hockey in her 30s to teach PE and English and manage an all-female synth pop group called Zenana. However, in her 70s, she saw an advert for Bedford Hockey Club and decided to dust off her sticks. Since then, she's even attended a trial for the over-70s England team and vows to try again next year. She joins Clare to talk about reigniting old passions.Presenter: Clare McDonnell Producer: Dianne McGregor

But the narrator for the audiobook, My Mess is a Bit of a Life, was Katherine Parkinson--which was the medical receptionist in Doc Martin. GREAT voice. I wanted to announce that my friend, colleague, and mentor, J Thorn, just launched his new book, Writing Scenes. I'm especially excited about this because I contributed to the making of this book in several ways, and I feel quite proud of all I did. One of the example scenes in the book is one I submitted from my current work in progress (my memoir). I narrated that scene (in the Before and After example) in the audiobook. (Audiobook is coming soon. Just waiting on Audible to approve it.) And I edited the book for J. It would tickle me if you picked up the book for yourself. Men are looking for sex and women are looking for love, right? Wrong, says Kala Ellis, creator Spreadsheet, a new sitcom starring Katherine Parkinson, which debuts tonight on Channel 4. Hannah chats to Kala about what happens when you're not looking for "the one", comparisons to Sex and The City and why new apps can be frankly terrifying. Meanwhile, Jen's been learning more about 20 years of Deafinitely Theatre from its artistic director Paula Garfield, as well as some pretty shocking facts about domestic violence and educational attainment. And in Jenny Off The Blocks, she's chatting about the French Open. In Sexism of the Week, Mickey's got some thoughts about how the BBC is spending its comedy budget, plus we're watching violent AF 2007 neo-western No Country For Old Men in Rated or Dated. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Falklands Conflict. But why did the United Kingdom, steered by Margaret Thatcher, send its Navy to defend the Falklands, a tiny group of islands over 8,000 miles from Britain? Why were the islands so important to Argentina and its government? And what are the prospects for reconciliation forty years later? In this episode we were joined by actor and comedian Katherine Parkinson.

Actress, comedian and playwright Katherine Parkinson shares her favourite music with Michael Berkeley. Two years out of drama school and heavily in debt, Katherine Parkinson was offered a part in a new television comedy series The IT Crowd. As all fans of the cult series know, she played Jen, the hopeless boss of two computer geeks – she was the so-called “normal” one. The series ran from 2006 to 2013, with audiences of two million. For Katherine Parkinson, it made her career, winning her a British Comedy Award and a Bafta. Since then Katherine Parkinson has appeared in everything from stage productions of Sophocles and Chekhov to television sci-fi drama Humans as well as Doc Martin and the sitcom The Kennedys. She has also moved into writing: her play about three people sitting for a painter premiered on television during lockdown. Katherine chooses music by John Tavener, George Gershwin and Thomas Tallis, and polyphonic singing she discovered while filming in Georgia. She tells Michael how she tried to channel her inner Cecilia Bartoli during singing lessons at drama school, and how she had to pretend to be good at housework for her Olivier-nominated role in Home, I'm Darling at the National Theatre. And she talks movingly about her affection for her late father-in-law, the actor Trevor Peacock. Producer: Jane Greenwood A Loftus Media production for BBC Radio 3
Katy Brand and Katherine Parkinson write and star in a new comedy about the online world of influencing, where they play Ruth and Carla – two stars of the online business world. They are bound together by a carefully controlled public image involving lucrative product placement and well paid endorsements. But behind the scenes things are not always so harmonious. We find Ruth and Carla worrying about company finances and plotting their next big move into podcasting to give their shared business a boost. They are taking delivery of all their new equipment when they hear that a rival influencer, Grace Broadstairs, has been rushed to hospital. As she is incapacitated, all her followers are now up for grabs. Wishing Grace well is also a perfect theme for the first podcast episode, A Lovely Chat with Ruth and Carla – if they can just figure out how the microphones work. Award-winning duo Katy Brand and Katherine Parkinson write and star in this sharp new comedy, taking an affectionate swipe at the very modern world of influencing. The podcast A Lovely Chat with Ruth and Carla, as featured in the show, is available as an exclusive bonus in this podcast. Georgia Pritchett knows a little something about living with anxiety. From worrying about the monsters under her bed as a child (Were they comfy enough?), to embracing womanhood, (One way of knowing you have crossed from girlhood to womanhood is that men stop furtively masturbating at you from bushes and start shouting things at you from cars. It's a beautiful moment) worry has accompanied her at every turn. This memoir is a joyful reflection on just how to live - and sometimes even thrive (sometimes not) - with anxiety. With an extra special reading from actress Katherine Parkinson (who's starred in The IT Crowd, Doc Martin, Humans & many more), we hope this episode lifts your spirits as it did ours. My Mess is a Bit of a Life by multi-award-winning television writer and producer, Georgia Pritchett, is published by Faber and available now in all good bookshops. Katherine Parkinson is best known as an actress – she won a BAFTA playing Jen in The IT Crowd and warm praise for her performance on stage in Laura Wade’s play Home, I’m Darling. But she has also written a play, Sitting, an interwoven set of three monologues first performed at the Edinburgh Festival and now on BBC4 as part of BBC Lights Up. It is inspired by her own experience sitting for a portrait painter when she was a student and like the work of the actress herself spans from sharp comedy to raw emotion. She talks to John about performing in the play for the first time. Louise Kennedy discusses her new collection of short stories, The End of the World is a Cul de Sac, which focus on the rugged landscapes and tough characters of north-west Ireland, just south of the border, where she lives. Secrets, lies, cruelty and history lie at the heart of many of the 15 stories, infused with the country’s folklore and politics. The band Years and Years released a snippet of their new single on TikTok before any other platforms and set a challenge to fans to make the most interesting video with lead singer Olly Alexander. Music Journalist Zoya Raza-Sheikh discusses how bands use TikTok to interact with fans and promote their music. As he founds a new organisation dedicated to improving Muslim representation on screen, Muslim Film UK, we talk to actor and producer Sajid Varda. Presenter: John Wilson Producer: Simon Richardson

Have you tried turning it off and on again? John, Erika, Jesse and Stewart agree: you can’t go wrong with the IT Crowd, a British comedy series starring Chris O’Dowd, Katherine Parkinson, and Richard Ayaode. John adopted it as the perfect palette cleanser for movies like Children of Men, this week’s movie pick by Erika’s husband, Mike. Featuring quite possibly Clive Owen’s best role, this movie is as bleak as it gets. In our era of pandemic reality, this one hits closer to home than it should. Team Noonan, Dunleavy and Offord are mostly enjoying a bit of outdoor time in this week's podzine, which is No 44, but should be No 45, given we recorded the Bush Telegraph special at the Women's March on London on the day of Trump's UK visit. Mickey and Hannah are surrounded by birdsong as they chat #TeamEmily with the Brontë Parsonage Museum's Lauren Livesey. Hannah also went to sunny Mold to talk Home, I'm Darling with actress Katherine Parkinson and Theatr Clwyd's Tamara Harvey. And the one time a studio happened, it was to learn more about the Hockey World Cup from Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh. So no complaints there. Aurélie chooses the Graham Linehan sitcom starring Katherine Parkinson, Richard Ayoade and Chris O'Dowd. Will Daniel be cured of his skepticism?
In this episode of Sprinklez I am recommending the unabashedly wicked television show "Damages" (Netflix, Hulu) staring Glenn Close and Rose Byrne; the incredibly genius British sitcom "The I.T. Crowd" (Netflix, Hulu) staring Katherine Parkinson, Chris O'Dowd and Richard Ayoade; and rave on-and-on about White Castle's limited time only Mac n' Cheese Nibblers!
SPOILER: Reviewing movies, books & TV shows in their entirety
“I’m watching you” This week we’re watching series one of Channel 4 and AMC’s sci-fi drama ‘Humans’ and for the first time in months the Spoiler team are a house divided. While Rachael finds the series gripping and thought-provoking to the extent that she spends entire evenings mulling it over, Andy arrives with a laundry list of pernickety issues which he wants to go through “systematically”. Meanwhile, Paul is still enjoying that marvellous view from the fence. While the team manage to find some common ground, things get particularly heated in relation to the quality of acting in the series and Rachael and Andy turn in their own auditions for the roles of Mia and Leo respectively. Suspicions are raised that producer Jonny might be conducting a dual affair with both Andy and a home-made Gemma Chan synth and Paul wonders why, with all this talk of robots, no-one has seen fit to mention Metal Mickey. Elsewhere in a packed show, Rachael reveals her top 5 sympathetic synthetics and Andy takes a look at the underappreciated art of the TV recap sequence. Also, Rachael trails her upcoming Spoiler Score Special, in which she’ll be talking to film and TV composers including Stephen Rennicks, Debbie Wiseman and Deborah Lurie. This week’s scale: Will we be watching series 2?
