Imagine a high school romance evolving into a mission of love and service, transforming the hearts of both the lovers and those they serve. Meet Brent and Stacy Tarr, our inspiring guests and founders of Tiny Hearts of Hope in Vietnam, who recount their journey from Washington State to the bustling streets of Saigon. Their story, filled with moments of faith and challenges, will take you through their decision to adopt a little girl from Vietnam, the cultural adjustments required, and the significant role faith played in their journey. Now, you may wonder, what is it like to do missionary work in Vietnam? Let Brent and Stacy give you an inside look. They share their initial experience at a local orphanage that opened their eyes to the harsh realities of poverty and despair. The couple's journey of faith and service eventually led to the formation of a 501 C3, allowing them to start ministering in orphanages. Through their tales of navigating the cultural differences of Saigon, miraculous experiences, and how their children embraced Vietnamese culture, you'll be moved by their dedication and passion. Don't miss the evolution of their mission trip to Vietnam in 2006 into a full-time ministry. Brent and Stacy offer insights into how they reshaped their business model, expanded their ministry, and quickly adapted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Their decision to stay in the US to care for their aging parents, manage their ministry from afar, and witness the explosive growth of the gospel in Vietnam paints a powerful testament to the power of divine intervention. This episode is not just a heartwarming story but an inspiring testament to how hope and faith can guide our steps.https://aarondegler.com/
One of the most asked questions we receive at Boob to Food is “what is the difference between choking and gagging and how can I safely feed my child to prevent it?”. This week we speak to the incredibly Nikki Jurcutz, CEO and Co-Founder of Tiny Hearts Education, as well as Ex Advanced Life Paramedic and of course mumma. As a paramedic, Nikki would often be called to jobs where, had parents been confident with simple first aid, the outcome could have been very different. Kids could have been treated at home by their parents or, even more devastatingly, lives could have been saved. Because of this, Tiny Hearts was born. Nikki and her sister Rach created the Tiny Hearts Baby & Child First Aid Course to help parents and caregivers feel confident, educated and empowered to act in a first-aid emergency with their little one. Nikki has two beautiful children, with a third on the way and loves to educate and empower other parents on how to tackle parenthood. In this podcast we cover:The difference between gagging and choking and how you would respond in each situationChoking hazards and choking preventionCreating a safe eating environment for your child as one of the best ways to prevent chokingThe difference between a partial and complete airway obstruction and how to respondAspiration and the common consequences as well as how to recognise itand so much more! While we may not be able to control EVERYTHING when it comes to the health and safety of our children, we hope that this episode leaves you feeling empowered and more confident to identify problems and respond accordingly. Heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, but a team of scientists at QIMR Berghofer is on a mission to find ways to repair damaged heart tissue. To help achieve this ultimate goal, they're growing tiny living and beating models of human heart muscle in the lab. These cardiac organoids are no bigger than a chia seed, but closely mimic the real organ so the researchers can study the heart's biology and test new therapeutics. Professor James Hudson explains how the team's latest advance introduces a vascular system to the tiny heart models for the first time which has already proved to be a gamechanger for their research.
Today we are so excited to have chatted with Nikki Jurcutz - CEO of ‘Tiny Hearts Education' which we all know that our listeners avidly follow. As a paramedic, when Nikki would often be called to jobs where, had parents been confident with simple first aid, the outcome could have been very different. So, Rach and Nikki created their baby first aid course to help parents and caregivers, just like you, feel confident, educated and empowered to act in a first-aid emergency with their little one. Eight years later, their dream has grown beyond comprehension. They have developed more courses and products with one vital mission in mind: help parents and caregivers navigate their journey with confidence. Nikki is also a mumma to her girl Nahla and boy Wolf– she has had wild birth stories of both babies but we want to look at her 4th trimester/ her Motherhood experiences and unpack all of the burning questions that you have for her as parents. We talk Motherhood, birthing Tiny Hearts Education, the danger of forums, sleeping rollercoasters, constant feedback from others & having strong boundaries in the fourth trimester, the cold sore virus and SO much more! This episode is brought to you with the help of our Sponsor, Enbacci who are proud supporters of the Pumped Podcast. In this week's episode, I interview Nikki. Nikki is the CEO of Tiny Hearts first Aid and a qualified paramedic. Nikki conceived quite quickly when she and her partner finally agreed to try for a baby. Unfortunately, they lost their first baby at 10 weeks. They decided very quickly to try again once they were given the all-clear from their doctor and they went on to conceive their daughter Nahla Fox. Nikki explains feeling very anxious throughout the pregnancy due to their previous loss and combined with morning sickness, hyperthyroidism and gestational diabetes Nikki said she did not enjoy her pregnancy. At 36 weeks gestation Nikki went to bed and both her and her husband were marveling at how active Nahla had been. She was all over the place and then she suddenly stopped moving. Nikki went to the bathroom, which usually leads to Nahla moving around and still nothing. Knowing she had an ultrasound booked for the morning Nikki decided to wait until the morning. After a restless and anxious night of little sleep, they made their way to the hospital. The doctors discover that she was in fact not moving as much as they would have liked to see. The baby had also not grown since her previous scan and they decided it would be best to try and induce Nikki. To hear more about Nahla's delivery tune into this weeks show. In today's episode, I interview Beccy Cloke. Beccy was diagnosed as having a tilted cervix by her gynecologist at a young age and she was advised that it may take her a little longer to conceive. With that in mind, she and Travis started trying for a baby shortly after their honeymoon. To their complete surprise, they conceived very quickly and then had to adjust quickly to the idea that a baby was on the way. Beccy went through private obstetric care through Mitcham Private Hospital in Melbourne. After an initial hiccup, she changed obstetricians to find a recommended doctor they had complete trust in. Beccy took both a Hypno Birth course and an online course called Birth Beat. Wanting to have a drug free, natural delivery, Beccy shares how she became very upset when she underwent an emergency caesarean after her labour didn't progress. Overjoyed to have a happy and healthy baby, Beccy still feels disappointed with some components of her birth. To hear more about how Beccy struggled with some of the decisions she made during her pregnancy and her labour and some things she wished she had done differently tune into this weeks episode. Kim Konen is back on the podcast and if you don't yet know who she is then you probably didn't hear the of the podcast back in June 2015. Kim is a former Etsy employee who relocated from New York and now sells full time on Etsy in her shop . I've been waiting to have Kim back on to talk about her own Etsy story as a seller and in this episode you'll get to know her better as an Etsy seller (which is also interwoven with her time as an Etsy employee). For the second time now, I anticipated that I'd spend about an hour talking with Kim for the podcast but we went on for almost 2 hours!! That's because she's just so engaging and a huge source of helpful information. I love that Kim is still so passionate about the Etsy community and making it a marketplace that buyers and sellers feel good about doing business on... And it's genuine, not because she's worked there but because she genuinely believes in it. I really think you'll enjoy this Etsy Convo. Topics Discussed: Time management Setting realistic expectations Goal setting Prepping for Christmas/holiday selling period And much much more... Real artistry is about peeling back the layers of your soul and allowing the creative truth to take form. Russell Taylor taps into that creative space and unlocks a masterpiece in his latest musical offering, War of Hearts, on his own Indigo Blue label. Far from a novice in the music game, Russell – a self-professed nomad – has poured out his heart and soul on the world stages, including stops in London, Amsterdam and Paris as well as famed stateside venues from The Mint and The Roxy in Los Angeles to SOB’s and Joe’s Pub in New York. Russell’s previous offerings Somewhere In Between(2007) and Confessional, a Soultracks.com ‘must have records’ (2010) – are sprinkled with gentle gems that have satisfied the appetites of music lovers worldwide. eagleowl Toad Session from Song, by Toad on Vimeo. Video: Vimeo - YouTube Photos: Flickr - Blueback Hotrod Audio: below A large part of me thinks there should be an Eagleowl Interviewers' Support Group. They are some of the loveliest people you will ever meet, but getting them to talk is like trying to learn Kung-Fu in an afternoon. I've been down the pub with these guys, so I know it's not like they don't have anything to say for themselves, it's just that teasing it out of them with cameras and microphones present requires a black belt in interviewing people which I quite simply do not have yet. Next time I will be prepared. Possibly no more successful, but prepared nevertheless. The music has come out beautifully, recorded by Neil Pennycook and Gavin Tarling, and mixed by Neil - eventually. Dylan took the pictures, and I have a Song, by Toad set on our Flickr page, but Dylan's full set can be found on his own site at Blueback Hotrod. I've made videos of the songs themselves and there is of course the main video at the top of the page which gives a not-entirely honest and rather heavily edited impression of what the whole day was like. The playlist for the interview podcast is at the bottom of the page and as per usual all the Toad Session recordings are available for free for you to download and generally do as you please with. Hope you like it.
