What's up, dudes? There's more than meets the eye here with illustrator and podcaster Jerzy Drozd as we talk all about Transformers UK comics Christmas issues! From Starscream to Optimus Prime, we get into all of it, and deck the halls with boughs of Hot Rod…waitasec…. Yes, it's Transformers Christmas miracle edition! In Transformers #145 from 1987, Starscream feels homesick, which shows that even evil robots can get the Christmas blues. As he ponders his plight, a young boy tries to teach him the meaning of Christmas. He encourages the Decepticon to explore emotions and actions of goodwill, even convincing him to help a bus full of elderly folks. Unfortunately, Streetwise the Autobot attacks him, thinking his intent is for ill. The boy admonishes Streetwise for his unprompted cavalier assault, and the Autobot watches helplessly as the Decepticon rescues the stuck bus. Streetwise apologizes and escorts the bus to safety, leaving Starscream ultimately to reflect on the experience. Turns out, he didn't like helping, but he thoroughly enjoyed humiliating his enemy. In Transformers #198 from 1988, a newly resurrected Optimus Prime, now a Power Master, mulls over his attachment to Earth with indifference. As he isolates himself to think, the other Power Masters see on the news a town destroyed by giant robots. Inevitably suspecting Decepticon involvement, thee heroes investigate, only to find the culprits were Autobots overindulged in Christmas shenanigans. Of course Optimus Prime finds them all, and renews there commitment to protect the citizens of Earth. Indubitably, it's a glorious day!Giant robot fights? Yep. Good versus evil? Got it. A story about nothing? Only a very Seinfeldian one! Literary Treks: A Star Trek Books and Comics Podcast

Enemy Unseen, Part 2. 100 years earlier, a malevolent entity that feeds on fear threatened the crew of the Enterprise under Captain Kirk and framed Scotty for murder. At the time, Redjac, also known as Jack the Ripper, was thought to have been banished for all eternity. However, he has returned to terrorize the crew of another Enterprise! In this episode of Literary Treks, hosts Dan Gunther and Bruce Gibson present part two of our discussion about the Star Trek comics collection, Enemy Unseen, which includes the story Embrace the Wolf. Saturday Morning Trek: A Podcast About Star Trek in the 1970s

Star Trek: The Classic UK Comics, Vol. 1. When you think of Star Trek comics of the 1970s, the Gold Key comics, the comics that promoted Star Trek: The Motion Picture on the side of McDonald's Happy Meals, or the weekly newspaper strips may come to mind. But if you're from the UK, adventures from the pages of TV 21 and Joe 90 probably trump them all. Six months before the original Star Trek TV series premiered in England, British readers were introduced to the characters through an original comic book series. These stories were serialized, generally 2–3 pages in length, and appeared in 257 weekly magazines spanning five years and 37 storylines. In this episode of Saturday Morning Trek, we're joined by Rich Handley to discuss the these psychedelic 1970s voyages. Rich is the man who undertook the Herculean task of compiling the 244-page tome. We explore the experience of delving into obscure cartoons and the nitty gritty of scanning 45-year-old newspapers to create a coffee table-quality book.
