Pastor Brent continues our fall vision series by preaching on the story of the Samaritan woman whom Jesus meets at the well. ResOak's vision is to be a church not just for ourselves, but for the unconvinced and for the city. But what does it mean to be a church for the unconvinced? Pastor Brent explains that there is something that is true about every human heart, something that is true about God's heart, and ultimately, how this story in the book of John will impact our church's heart.
Nicholas Tartaglione is a former police officer who gained notoriety due to his involvement in a high-profile criminal case. He was arrested in December 2016 and faced charges related to the alleged murder of four men in a drug-related conspiracy in 2016. Tartaglione was also accused of involvement in cocaine distribution. Before his legal troubles, Tartaglione served as a police officer in New York. However, his arrest and subsequent legal proceedings drew significant attention, especially given the severity of the charges against him and his previous occupation in law enforcement. The case garnered media coverage due to its complexities and Tartaglione's background. While he was incarcerated at MCC, he was put in a cell with Jeffrey Epstein. What happened in that cell when Epstein allegedly attempted suicide the first time? According to Tartaglione he is the hero. Jeffrey Epstein was singing a different tune though.(commercial at 7:31)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Attorney Says Epstein Never Committed Suicide; He Wanted to Fight Charges & Get Out on Bail | Yonkers Times
Kamala Harris could make history if the Democratic Party follows through in giving her the reigns. Joe Biden's publicly endorsed his Vice President for the presidential nomination after deciding to end his campaign. She could be the first Black woman and Asian-American to lead the ticket of a major political party. Uncertainty had been circling since last month's debate about whether Biden would stay in the race. US correspondent Dan Mitchinson told John MacDonald many donors had taken a step back - unconvinced Biden would be able to beat Donald Trump. “They don't want to back a losing horse, so I think they were waiting to get their chequebooks out to see what he's going to do, and now we'll see if they're willing to back Kamala Harris.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What does it look like to bring generations together under one roof? Today, we are having a conversation around family, care, and compassion intertwining in the most unique way. We're exploring the concept of multi-generational living – a solution that's gaining traction in a world where the traditional boundaries of home and care are constantly evolving. It's not just about sharing a space; it's about reshaping the idea of what a home can be. My guest today is Danniel Fuchs, Caregiver and Founder of Multi Gen Homes. Danniel's life took a turn when he sought suitable care for his father living with Alzheimer's. Unconvinced by other care options, he decided to create Multi-Gen Homes. More than an architectural concept, it blends hope, heart, and thoughtful design with profound care, functionality, and addressing the intricate dynamics of a family. In today's conversation, we talk about how Danniel's personal journey with his father's Alzheimer's diagnosis led to an innovative approach to care and family living. From the emotional and logistical challenges of transitioning to multi-generational living to maintaining resilience during loss, adversity, and uncertainty, we'll explore it all. This discussion isn't just about constructing homes; it's about constructing lives, managing stress, and drawing lessons from a family's experience. Danniel, thank you for sharing about resilience, innovation, and the enduring strength of family bonds. Last time I talked to Antony Barone Kolenc, I was enthralled with the idea of his Harwood Mysteries. Well, all those awards he's won, I think the books live up to the idea, don't you? Well, with a new one released at the end of last year and another coming this year, plus another book and a new series in the works... well, listen in. We've got a lot to talk about. note: links may be affiliate links that provide me with a small commission at no extra expense to you. These Are Exactly My Favorite Kinds of Mysteries! Let's see... an era or situation I'm not familiar with... interesting characters... rich faith woven in naturally... a nun who just looks at a crucifix to answer the question, "Why do I have to suffer like this...?" Um... YEAH! Antony Barone Kolenc has really knocked it out of the park with this series. Set in the 12th Century, these young folks deal with a variety of issues, and even have to travel to Portugal in one! EEEP! His newest book, Murder at Penwood Manor, we're looking at crusaders and murders, and oh my! Life-changing stuff going on (and a bit of age-appropriate romance as well!). Like a lot of middle-grade fiction, this series grows with the kids reading it, so what was upper middle grade in the beginning becomes lower YA by the end. I love that he's done this. Because Kolenc is a conscientious writer, father, and Christian, younger advanced readers binging the series won't be subjected to the garbage often found in YA stuff while the stories will still keep the attention of teens. A win all around. Kolenc also talked about another book he released just yesterday, Penny and the Stolen Chalice. This is for younger middle-grade readers and features non-Catholic Penny who is determined to find out who stole the Eucharist chalice during Mass. Note: Non-Catholic parents should read reviews to be prepared to discuss the theological ideas in the book. Finally, we got a sneak peek into the next series he's working on. Just the tiniest sneakiest of peeks. But I'm eager to learn more! Murder at Penwood Manor by Antony Barone Kolenc Xan and Christina embark on a journey to Harwood Abbey, where they reunite with their old friends, Lucy and Joshua. When a brutal murder occurs at nearby Penwood Manor, all evidence points to Laurence, a Crusader recently returned from the Holy Land. Unconvinced of the man's guilt, Xan and his friends must act swiftly to solve the crime. Who could have committed such a horrible killing, and is anyone safe? Is Laurence tormented by demons, or is he haunted by some other secret? And will Xan be forever changed by the choice Lucy and Christina present to him? Our reading this week, parshat va'era, features otot u'moftim, signs and wonders, that are intended to persuade Pharaoh of God's power and therefore that he should let the Israelites go. The problem is, while the signs and wonders are indeed powerful-- a rod turning into a snake, the Nile turning into blood, millions of frogs jumping up and down--the signs and wonders do not succeed in their appointed task: Pharaoh remains unconvinced. Our reading reminds us that signs and wonders do not work. In one of the Talmud's most famous stories, Rabbi Eliezer tries to prove that his theory about the oven of Achnai is correct. He tries to do this with signs and wonders. Rabbi Eliezer said to them: If the Halacha accords with me, let this carob tree prove it, whereupon the carob tree was uprooted from its place and moved one hundred amos. Unconvinced, the sages said to him you cannot bring proof from a carob tree. He then said to them: If the Halachah accords with me, let the water canal prove it, whereupon the water in the water canal flowed backward. The sages said to him: You cannot bring proof from a water canal. (Bava Metzia 59B) Today we talk about why it is that signs and wonders never work. They never convince the unconvinced. Even the tenth plague—there was no home where a first born was not dead—persuades Pharaoh only temporarily. But he soon changes his mind and mobilizes his army and cavalry to pursue the Israelites at the Sea of Reeds. In the end, the Egyptians are never persuaded. They are defeated. They drown. We bring some learning from Sheila Heen, the head of the Negotiation Project at Harvard Law School, about why even the most powerful arguments and signs and wonders never convince the unconvinced. And we talk about signs and wonders that do work and that we can believe in.

Are you your child's best teacher? In this episode, Robert reacts to a video of Leigh Bortins and Corey McKeown, director of the Trinity Homeschool Academy (T.E.A.C.H.) in Tampa, Florida, discussing the rise of homeschooling with Pete Hegseth on Fox and Friends. In the video, Corey explains why there has been an explosion of homeschooling in her state due to the success of homeschool co-ops where students can take classes from expert teachers. Unconvinced, Robert analyzes whether it's necessary to send homeschool students to a co-op to learn from an expert instead of “just another mom.” In other words, can everyday parents rely on the classical tools of learning and community support to teach their children any subject? Finishing it up, Robert reflects on the true reasons why homeschooling is seeing a surge not just in Florida but nationwide as parents wake up to the nonsense in the traditional school system. In “Classical Crypto,” Will catches us up on the latest news on the downfall of Sam-Bankman Fried, the collapse of FTX, and the ultimate trial results. We are to be in the city but not of the city, to embody for people the way of Jesus and the Kingdom of God. But why must we live these different lives? It is so that we can live to serve and bless the city. To do this, there's a heart that we need to see, a unity we need to embody, and most importantly, a love that we need to experience.

If you are someone you know is struggling with hair loss, this episode will offer lots of insights. Today I'm talking with Julie Olson about her personal natural health success story and particularly about women's hair loss. Julie was working in her dream job in California when health challenges upended that. First, her mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Then Julie hit her own health roadblocks, which included gut issues, fatigue and hair loss. Her mother's diagnosis and her own health crisis led her to study functional medicine nutrition and solutions that helped her as well as her mother. Julie uncovered the causes of her health challenges, which included celiac disease, Epstein-Barre virus, the gut bacteria H. pylori, thyroid issues and food sensitivities. When she addressed these, she rebuilt her health and was able to regrow hair. In my talk with Julie, you'll hear… The conditions associated with her own health crash and hair loss The lifestyle changes and other solutions she found to regain her health and hair regrowth The many hair loss causes and the importance of finding the unique causes for each person Some of the lab tests that she typically runs to uncover root causes of illness and hair loss Julie Olson is a triple-certified Functional Medicine Nutritionist. After struggling with hair loss, digestive issues, Epstein-Barr virus, and autoimmunity, doctors told her there was nothing she could do about it naturally. Unconvinced, Julie made it her mission to restore her own health and help people do the same with natural solutions to look and feel their very best. With over 10 years of experience, working with functional and integrative practitioners, Julie has transformed thousands of people's health. She is known to investigate, discover, and communicate root cause resolutions to rebuild health and naturally regrow hair. Founder of Fortitude Functional Nutrition, she specializes in female hair loss, gut health, and gluten issues, plus offers personalized programs that yield long-lasting results. You can find her online at www.julieolson.com. On social media, she's at @JulieOlsonFN. Julie is also offering a discount on Nutrafol, a hair growth supplement. She recommends the “Women's Balance Hair Growth” pack as the best choice for women. At $209, it's $55 off the retail price of $264 for a 3-month supply. She highly recommends three months to see any hair regrowth. For men, find Nutrafol via a discount here. Or click the QR code to get the discount: Find the machine washable silk pillowcase she mentions. And find some of the studies she mentions plus other studies on hair loss and hair growth. We at Resurrection Oakland seek to be a church not just for Christ followers, but also a church for the unconvinced. What does it mean to be a church for the unconvinced? In this sermon, Pastor Brent teaches us that it means we are a church where people can process their doubts and questions, a church that believes anyone is a good candidate for the love of God, and ultimately, a community that has been changed by the grace of God.

We're currently working on some fresh content based on listener questions. We'll have new episodes next week! This week, we're running an episode from a podcast called Hot Farm. It's from our friends at the Food & Environment Reporting Network. The podcast is about what farmers are doing – or could be doing – to take on the climate emergency. In this episode, you'll hear from farmers who are skeptical about climate change. But you'll also hear about how they are joining the fight against global warming once the issue is reframed. Hint: it's about the soil. Find Hot Farm on Apple, Spotify, or anywhere you listen to podcasts.

Tick, tick, tick, tick…the constant click of a metronome could conceivably drive a person crazy. I am now - although I wasn't always - a metronome fan. Though this may sound crazy to some of you, the metronome is my favorite practice tool because it helps me fix errors, create flow and it gives me time to play a piece or a tricky passage correctly. I realize that this may not be your experience with the metronome. Maybe your feeling about it is more like this: If you've seen the classic movie Ben Hur, you already know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, let me set the scene for you. At one point in the tale, our hero Judah Ben Hur is a galley slave on a Roman ship, chained to an oar with several other slaves. The entire hold of the ship is filled with men chained to oars; they are the engine of the ship. In order for the slaves to generate enough power to move the ship, it is essential that they row in a coordinated way. So at the front of the galley is a man beating a drum. He sets the tempo for the rowers. When the ship enters into battle, the drummer picks up the pace. Slaves collapse left and right trying to keep up. Does this sound like your metronome experience, only without the sweat and starvation? Apparently, this depiction isn't historically accurate, but it may be accurate enough if your metronome feels like a slave driver. Actually the Latin word used in the movie for the drummer is hortator. Our word “exhort” meaning to urge or advise comes from the same root. Hortator can also mean encourager. You may not be ready to think of your metronome as a friendly encourager just yet, but I hope to give you a glimpse of that today. We'll talk about the best use of the metronome - and it's NOT for speeding up - plus I will share two of my favorite ways to use the metronome to help me play more musically. Even better, if you've never been able to use a metronome before, you'll learn exactly how to do it. That's right. I will actually teach you how to work with your metronome and why it's important. Stick with me here; I can pretty much guarantee you will love this. The majority of American farmers don't believe man-made climate change is real. In this episode, producer Dana Cronin introduces us to some statistically typical American farmers—older, white, male—who grow corn and soybeans. Not for food we eat but as ingredients for processed foods, as feed for livestock, and to make ethanol. One of those farmers, Lin Warfel, may be unconvinced about man-made climate change, but as we learn, farmers like Lin are practical above all else. If doing something differently makes farming and financial sense, they're likely to embrace it. That's how Warfel came to be involved in a farmer-led initiative called Saving Tomorrow's Agriculture Resources, STAR for short. The idea is to change farming practices in ways that safeguard the soil—the foundation of a farmer's livelihood—for the next generation to farm. But many of the practices endorsed by STAR also help reduce carbon emissions, even if that isn't the reason the farmers adopt them. It's the kind of voluntary, meet-them-where-they-are strategy that the USDA and others hoping to convince farmers to join the climate fight say it will take to enlist the unconvinced.
My special guest is Raymond Szymanski to discuss his knowledge of alien visitation to military installations including the Wright-Patterson where he worked for many years. Get his book 50 Shades of Greys on Amazon. -- Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Insider Investigation Reveals Exciting New Evidence and Theories -- Nick Pope, UK Ministry of Defense UFO Project, 1991 – 1994, Author of Encounter in Rendlesham Forest, excitedly states: “Fifty Shades of Greys is a fun and informative book that is part UFO exposé and part travel guide. Written in a gonzo style, Raymond Szymanski tours the world, researching iconic UFO sightings and meeting a colorful cast of witnesses, experts and enthusiasts along the way. The author's four-decade career as an Engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (where many believe crashed alien spaceships are stored), and his exciting new evidence will doubtless start a few conspiracy theories.” For the very first time, an executive-level Wright-Patterson Air Force Base scientist takes you on a dangerous personal search for evidence of alien visitation inside the legendary, super-secret Department of Defense installation and beyond. Unconvinced by third-person stories rewarmed in “shadow-government-conspiracy UFO books”, Raymond Szymanski presents compelling, first-person UFO research adventures and discoveries - balanced between the very serious and sometimes not-so-serious misadventures. Raymond researched many Department of Defense scientific mysteries in his distinguished career. Now armed with insider information, he's researching the most polarizing scientific mystery-of-the-century: “Do we have Aliens?” During this life-changing journey he discovers and examines evidence of alien visitation and strong hints that, contrary to widely published reports, Air Force senior scientists may not be unanimously laughing off UFOs after all. Join Raymond's exciting, thought provoking adventures: - In the United Kingdom's UFO-infested Rendlesham Forest; - With Travis Walton at the secretive Walton abduction site in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest; - And inside the Holy Grail itself, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. An alien visitation investigation, cloaked in mystery, wrapped in an adventure story, illustrated by more than one hundred never-before-published photographs, will be enjoyed by adventurists, enthusiasts, researchers, and conspiracy theorists alike. Area 51 conspiracy theories: Aliens in the United States?See all videos for this article For years there was speculation about the installation, especially amid growing reports of UFO sightings in the vicinity. The site became known as Area 51, which was its designation on maps of the Atomic Energy Commission. Conspiracy theories gained support in the late 1980s, when a man alleging to have worked at the installation claimed that the government was examining recovered alien spacecraft.

Proteins designed as drugs – the so-called biologics – sparked a medical revolution, but it has come at an extraordinary cost: less than 2% of Americans use these drugs, yet they account for 40% of total spend on prescription medications. Something's got to give. Mark Emalfarb of Dyadic thinks that something is manufacturing, and his something is C1 – a protein manufacturing platform, and cell line that can produce biologics cheaper and faster than anything out there. Unconvinced? Give a listen.
About this episode. On the podcast today we have Tara King. Tara has recently begun working for Automattic in the developer relations role. Tara will lead a newly formed team who will get out and about; trying to understand the pain points which people are having with the new Block Editor and Full Site Editing. They will then report their findings back to the developer and contributor teams, and hopefully establish a feedback loop to make the editor better. They are also creating blogs, podcasts, courses and many other types of content to help people get up to speed with the Block Editor. It's no secret that whilst there are many people who love the Block Editor, there are many who remain unconvinced. Unconvinced might not be a strong enough word, but you get the idea. I wanted to hear about the purpose of this new team and how it's going to be working. Will it have a real impact upon the future of the Block Editor? What will they be offering? How can they be reached? Who is deciding what's included and what's left out? What motivations are behind all these decisions? We also get into a chat about the fact that WordPress is changing; moving away from a legacy of easy-to-understand PHP code and moving towards a JavaScript and React based future. Is the pain of learning these new skills going to be worth it, and is there going to be any support to help people get there? It's a wide-ranging discussion at an important moment in WordPress' history. Time will tell if Tara's team can win the hearts and minds of unconvinced developers. Have a listen to the podcast and leave a comment below. Useful links. Tara's email address: tara.king [at] automattic [dot] com Automattic: Developer Relations Job Description
Jonas and James discuss the players that the Leafs sent packing today, and who remains on the training camp roster. With a mostly set roster, the Leafs currently have 2 goalies, 8 defenders and 17 forward with players like Pierre Engvall, Adam Brooks and Kurtis Gabriel still battling for the 13th forward spot on the team.Jonas presents his latest game, 'Convinced or Unconvinced', where he peppers Mirtle with Leaf question marks including new assistant coach Spencer Carbery's contribution to the Leafs power-play, if Morgan Rielly signs an extension midseason, if Ilya MIkheyev deserves another opportunity in the top six forward group and if Wayne Simmonds still has enough in the tank to be a regular NHL'er.
