Some beliefs are so subtle that when we first inquire into them we may have a hard time relating. We may think, ‘I don't have that going on in my world,' only to discover that it is impacting us in a much greater way than we had anticipated. This is exactly what happened for a majority of participants in this week's episode. Group inquiry is: awareness alchemy. With each individual's reflection we are reminded of experiences of our own or invited to see something in a new way, which supports us to drop deeper and deeper into the effortless, ever-present state of awareness. Which as Vernon Howard aptly says, “Is the cure, the only cure.”
Everything you have ever done and everything you will ever do happens the way it does because of the way you make up your mind. Not only that, but once you have settled on a certain course it becomes necessary for you to base further decisions upon that original choice. All of us can learn not only to be decisive in the first place but to select those better courses that, in turn, lead to other better courses. Beyond every wise choice are vast areas of opportunity. The happy fact is, anyone can master the art of prompt and precise decisions—the kind that crash through hesitation and spill on to victory wherever you want it. We become men of choice by freeing ourselves from hidden, sub conscious inhibitions. Indecision is nothing more than a tug of war between a conscious desire to do something and a subconscious fear of acting out that desire.
Today's meditation comes from The Gospel Of Luke in The New Testament and from the writings of Vernon Howard, with music by Outside The Sky.
Pastor Vernon preached today with a powerful message titled Jesus The Divider! Wherever Jesus went, he provoked a reaction. Some thought He was the devil, some thought He was divine. It's your choice if you're forgiven or unforgiven.

All of us realize that money-making is not the central purpose of life, yet it is an absolute necessity as well as a pretty wonderful convenience. Financial fullness enables us to provide better for the needs of those who depend upon us, also, it is man's right to surround himself with as many luxuries and comforts as possible. With these ideas in mind, let's find out how anyone can easily do more to easily make more. Vernon Howard drew from what he perceived as being a "common thread" among several different philosophical and spiritual traditions for his insights and teachings. These included: Christian and Eastern mysticism, Gurdjieffian Fourth Way teachings, the Gospels of the New Testament, Jungian psychology, J. Krishnamurti and American Transcendentalism. He taught that there is a way out of suffering, and advocated self-honesty, persistence, the study and application of spiritual principles, and a sincere desire for inner change. In this episode we talk about power through the lens of Vernon HowardSome folks hesitate to seize additional strength because they think it wrong or dangerous to be a powerful individual. Somehow they have acquired the false notion that tyranny or dictatorship or cruelty are the outcomes of a powerful personality. These characteristics are not power. They are weaknesses disguised as power. It is not the strong who are dangerous to the world and to themselves. It is the weak and the inadequate who threaten—and sometimes destroy—mankind's peace and prosperity. As Eric Hoffer states, “Hatred, malice, rudeness, intolerance, and suspicion are the fruits of weakness. The resentment of the weak does not spring from any injustice done to them but from the sense of their inadequacy and impotence.”* Genuine power is always good, beneficial, and necessary. That is just one reason why it is not only your right but your duty to seize every ounce of power available. Actually, there are ten thousand reasons why you should be strong, and not a single reason why you should not be. There are countless historical examples of famous persons whose personal power not only insured their own success but benefited mankind enormously. Yes power can corrupt and can be used badly, but do you think god like beings from other planets have this issue. It is an issue at the core of who you are and you use your dynamic power. Awakening in the divine is an understanding of the nature of power. The president or dictator has no power. Power is not what you think it is. Howard drew from what he perceived as being a "common thread" among several different philosophical and spiritual traditions for his insights and teachings. These included: Christian and Eastern mysticism, Gurdjieffian Fourth Way teachings, the Gospels of the New Testament, Jungian psychology, J. Krishnamurti and American Transcendentalism. Vernon Howard is quoted as saying... "Be teachable. That is the whole secret." And that, our friends, is like the creamer to our coffee: It makes beautiful, perfect sense! There is a lot that 2020 has taught us about ourselves, our relationships, our passions, our values, our goals, and possibly even what’s missing from our lives that’d we’d like to change/fix or find. As we head into 2021, we should all have a much better understanding that it is what it is, but it becomes what we make it. The best life experiences only teach the teachable. Tune in to this episode and learn why we should all be more teachable!EPISODE SHOW NOTES: https://everykind.com/why-we-should-al…e-more-teachable/YOU FIT HERE INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/youfithereEVERYKIND: https://EVERYKIND.com
Don't hesitate to challenge any negative feelings you discover within yourself. That is a giant step toward their dismissal. Over many years of lecturing and counseling, I find many people hesitant to question their negative condition. They fear there may not be an answer. But we must dare to ask anything and everything, especially when suspecting that the answer may be contrary to our present opinion. This gradually awakens the intuitive self which explains everything to us. What a pleasure to hear someone frankly admit a confusion in order to clear it! Example: “I don't understand. You say that emotional pains are caused by illusion. Illusion or not, I feel the pain!” “A man certainly suffers from a frightening nightmare, but when he wakes up, where is the suffering?” Whenever confronted by a particularly disturbing emotion, you may wonderingly inquire, “Is it really possible to arise above this?” With perfect assurance, you may tell yourself, “Yes, even this.” -Vernon Howard The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power Howard drew from what he perceived as being a "common thread" among several different philosophical and spiritual traditions for his insights and teachings. These included: Christian and Eastern mysticism, Gurdjieffian Fourth Way teachings, the Gospels of the New Testament, Jungian psychology, J. Krishnamurti and American Transcendentalism. He taught that there is a way out of suffering, and advocated self-honesty, persistence, the study and application of spiritual principles, and a sincere desire for inner change, according to Psycho-Pictography (page 34). He explained that a new and higher inner life is found through releasing the negative conditioned ego, which he described as the "false self". He asserted that this new life can only be found through awareness, and that the human ego is a barrier to this awareness. Thus, he taught that inner liberation is a ridding process, and that the false self is a fictitious collection of self-images or pictures about who we think we are (Psycho-Pictography, page 33). The Paseo Boulevard was a strategically designed artery connecting the burgeoning parks system that helped define Kansas City, Missouri.Recently, a group of pastors led an effort to rename the boulevard for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They convinced the city council to go along it. Now voters will decide on November 5, 2019 whether it should be changed BACK to the Paseo. Some of those pastors say it’s a racist attempt. You decide in this two-part interview. In this episode, hear from Vernon Howard and Sam Mann, president and vice president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference of the greater Kansas City area.

My Guest is Rock Thomas. He's a self-made millionaire, bestselling author three times over. He became one of the top 50 realtors in the world. He studied with some of the greats like Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, and Wayne Dyer, one-on-one. But most importantly, he's taken up a personal mission to help those who have been beaten up by life and he's helped them to retrain their thinking, find their self worth and also often help them to grow wealth and abundance in the process. He's definitely living the Dream Think Do life. So it's about dang time we had him on this show. Listen To The Podcast: Resources: Website: https://rockthomas.com/ Twitter: @rockthomas Instagram: @rockthomas FB: RockThomasOfficial Interview: Mitch Matthews: Rock Thomas, welcome to Dream Think Do, buddy. Rock Thomas: That's beautiful, man. Not only do you have a beautiful voice, but you articulate as well. So I'd like you to send me that recording and I'm going to put it on my phone first thing every morning when I wake up. Mitch Matthews: You got it. You got it. Tell you what I always say a good intro is my gift to my guests. You know, you deserve it for crying out loud. And yours, yours is so easy. I just, I really was blown away and I don't want to shortchange your story. I want to start with the story that really you covered in that goal cast video. Just so Dream Think Doers can know a little bit more of kind of where you came from. Take us back to your, to your childhood because this was, this was not an easy story. Rock Thomas: You know, I think we all grew up with a dream and then somewhere along the line often it gets crushed. And if you don't have the wherewithal or the resources of the guidance or the encouragement to revive it than most people live this life of quiet desperation and just trying to avoid pain, quite frankly. And I, fortunately, somehow, I think maybe through reading, I didn't grow up with the TV. I was, my parents got divorced at five and funnily enough, my sister and I grew up when I was around one and three, my mom adopted two other kids. So I was actually the youngest of four kids in the house, you know, back in the days when moms were raising kids single and dad worked, you know, till 7:00 at night. Then we got divorced and I lived with my mom for a while and I wanted more attention. She was a gypsy. So I didn't get that. I set things on fire and I fought with principals and I was that kid who was skinny but went into the new school and looked for the biggest kid and kicked him in the shins and said, what are you looking at? And- Mitch Matthews: It was a survival strategy, right? Like something you learn. But- Rock Thomas: Yeah, it's like if I can take on the biggest kid, who else is going to take me on? But after a while that got old as we changed, my mom had to relocate me from school to school and she finally shipped me off to my dad, my dad, my dad had remarried and now I was the youngest of seven. So my entire life was this battle of can somebody sees me, I got the hand me downs that are torn. Is there any food left? Can I say something? And my father's wife had married a guy who ended up in an insane asylum. So they treated her children in a special way because they were afraid that they had some mental issues. So they got away with things while I was always told to toe the line. So there was this separation. And I think that happiness in my experience comes a lot from connection, from feeling you're one with other people, you're around the fireplace at Christmas time and you're having a good time when you feel safe. And I never really had that. I always felt like I was about to be attacked or bullied or there'd be no food left. Mitch Matthews: Wow. Rock Thomas: So somewhere along the line I just started reading the books that were in my dad's library and I read this one book called, by Vernon Howard, Do What You Fear and It'll Disappear.
Welcome to Episode 206 of the dHarmic Evolution podcast! On this episode, James takes listeners through his background and history with organized religion and how his spiritual journey has brought him to be a follower of Jesus. James attended parochial school until about 6th grade, and while he didn't have any experiences as traumatic as some in terms of abuse, he felt that the way religion was presented in the Catholic Church was not conducive to him wanting to remain faithful to the Catholic Church. Ultimately, he found the way that sin was viewed and handled through the act of confession, the overall demeanor of several of the Sisters at the school, and the oddity of some of the Catholic practices drove his way from the Catholic Church but laid the foundation for his future involvement in organized religion. Particularly, James was enamored by the stories about Jesus that he heard in parochial school, and this led him to begin seriously reading the Bible when he was in his late 20s. A few years ago, James joined a Baptist Church – First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, NJ – and he has been pleased with his experience there as well as the challenging teachings of the pastor there, which help James' own faith and relationship with God develop. Whereas James found the Catholic Church to be liturgical and stodgy, his experience at the Baptist church has been characterized by celebration. Along the way, James has also been impacted by the writings of Vernon Howard on spirituality and contentment. James was even inspired to write his song “Geography of the Soul” song by Howard's ideas about preferring to explore the territory of life over studying the map. Towards the end of this episode, James reads a passage from Howard's “Mystic Path to Cosmic Power” and connects this message about the true self with ideas from the New Testament and Walt Whitman. James has found his own spiritual awakening in being focused on the truth, open to learning, and quick to ask the Lord for help. Happy Valentine’s Day! Today I’m all about bringing love, joy and wisdom to you, my avid listener. Feel the love! Self-love that is … More than twenty years ago I was introduced to the book The Power of Your Super Mind by Vernon Howard. In the study of that book, one lesson in particular really opened my […]
In our last +1, we talked about the Optimize Master’s program (aka Optimize Coach!) and had fun with some wisdom on moving from theory to practice—reminding ourselves that the theory (although important!) is just the rudimentary stuff. The ADVANCED work is the actual PRACTICE. Here’s what was kinda weird. As I was drafting that +1, I was doing some quick key word searches on my Mac to find the quotes I wanted to pull. I grabbed one from Ernest Holmes’s Creative Mind and Success and one from Vernon Howard’s The Power of Your Supermind. But before I found the right quote from Holmes, I opened up another one of our Notes on another one of his great books The Art of Life. (Fun note: I went through a phase where I was REALLY into understanding what all the old-school New Thought guys thought and read basically all their stuff.) Anyway… As I did that little searching and opened up a few PDFs, I noticed that the first Big Idea from both The Art of Life and from The Power of Your Supermind (books written by two different teachers fifty years apart), said almost EXACTLY the same thing. Big Idea #1 in our Notes on The Art of Life by Ernest Holmes: “You are using the Law of Life every time you think. No matter how long you may have been using It wrongly in your ignorance, the very day, that hour, yes the very moment, you begin to use this Power rightly, the effect of having used It wrongly will pass from your experience. Does it make any difference how long a room has been dark when you introduce a light; how long the earth has been parched when refreshing rain comes to bring new life, a new seed time and a new harvest to the fields?” Big Idea #1 in our Notes on The Power of Your Supermind by Vernon Howard: “It is a mistake for anyone to think he has lived too long in his old, unsatisfactory ways to make the great change. If you switch on the light in a dark room, it makes no difference how long it was dark because the light will still shine. Be teachable. That is the whole secret.” So… There ya go. That’s Today’s +1. Flip on the light. When? Today. (Then reflip it every time it goes off, of course!!)

One of the themes we come back to again and again is the basic idea of loving what is — whether that’s via Byron Katie’s wisdom or the Stoics or the Serenity Prayer. Here’s another take on it that I’ve found super helpful. Vernon Howard tells us: “If your grand purpose in life is to wake up, then whatever happens to you is good, for it can prod you into self-awakening.” And, he says: “If it takes apparent misfortune to turn us into true philosophers and doers of good to receive good, then apparent misfortune is our greatest fortune.” Well that’s one way to look at it, eh? Indeed it is. A very powerful way. So… Today’s +1. What’s your GRAND purpose? The ultimate big ol’ purpose of your existence? Mine? In short: To actualize my potential. In service to the world. While enjoying the process. Now, with THAT goal in mind, I can bring Vernon’s wisdom to mind and alchemize pretty much E V E R Y T H I N G into great fortune. From the mundane issues with the kids or the biz to the bigger challenges in life. It’s ALL antifragile fuel for the fire of actualization. All of it. So, again… What’s your grand purpose? Get clear on it. Then make the connection between your response to this moment and that target. Let’s use E V E R Y T H I N G as fuel for our growth. That’s how to turn apparent misfortune into great fortune.
