Misty (Moustafa Sheta), born in Madrid but with Egyptian roots, kickstarted his journey as a DJ and producer at the age of 15. Initially creating mixtapes for friends, he soon found himself immersed in the world of DJing, crafting a distinct sonic style that merges house rhythms with dynamic basslines and elements drawn from dance floor-ready disco and electro. This unique sonic blend not only positioned him as a prominent figure in Egypt's electronic music scene but also elevated his status as a regional DJ, with performances at various venues and festivals across the Middle East and North Africa. In 2021, Misty's EP "Things," released via Love Attack Records, showcased two original tracks and two remixes by Vhyce. The lead track, 'Things,' featuring Canadian indie vocalist Andrew Shier, swiftly climbed Beatport's top 10 Indie Dance charts, garnering support from acclaimed DJs such as Solomun, Dixon, Catz N Dogz, and Jennifer Cardini. Expanding his influence further, Misty initiated 'Transmissions,' a monthly residency at Cairo Jazz Club in 2022, aimed at spotlighting his indie house sound and shaping Egypt's dancefloors. This event not only cultivated a dedicated community around his music but also attracted renowned artists like Alan Dixon, Catz N Dogz, Storken, and Krystal Klear, underscoring Misty's pivotal role in nurturing a distinct musical identity within the local scene. The year 2023 witnessed the release of Misty's follow-up single "Figure It Out" on Love Attack Records, which received accolades from industry luminaries like Folamour and Cormac. Additionally, his collaboration with Alan Dixon on an edit of Amr Diab's classic club hit "Wala Ala Balo" emerged as the anthem of the summer, gaining international traction and resonating across dancefloors worldwide before its official release at the year's end. Through these concerted efforts, Misty continues to shape the electronic music landscape, leaving an indelible mark not only in Egypt but also across the broader region. In this special select, Misty guides us through an hour of extremely Misty-coded sounds, from house, dub, electronic, and reimagined italo-disco. A club-ready set, Misty journeys through various eras, blending different eras of disco and house into one. Notable tracks to look out for include Nairless' ‘Dazzling Fantasy' (Jex Opolis Mix) The Entertainer feat. Our first premiere comes from London based producer Alex Virgo who steps up to remix The Daddy Squad, a project from Andrew Armstrong. Virgo inject some indie-dance flavour into the original track as surging synth lines play off chugging vintage style bass and triumphant pads. The Daddy Squad project continues to gain pace, as Andrew Armstrong releases the second single from his debut album coming out this June. Continuing to firmly mark out a corner for himself in the Italo disco/ indie dance scene, All Day All Night Automatic includes a remix from Alex Virgo and follows on from the single We Can Work It Out featuring Vhyce and Mala Ika remixes. The album has seen early supported from the likes of Pete Tong, Horse Meat Disco, Boys' Shorts, Cormac, Massimiliano Pagliara, through to Chloe Caillet and Avalon Emerson, amongst others. This is a setup for his debut album due later in the year. Alex Virgo's remix is a coppery slice of vintage rave nuances as the UK house producer showcases his prowess in the world of 80's inspired club music. Chugging metallic style grooves that simply scream ‘go', Virgo hones in on mechanised auto-tuned vocals that roll over the top a rolling italo style bassline and soaring synth lines. A strong drum groove and elated pads complete the bill for a classy piece of indie-dance. City streets left abandoned, desolate factories and traffic lights aimlessly switching from red to green without a single car in sight to see them change. These are just some of the haunting images that characterize what the post-industrial city of La Louviere looks like. This seems a daunting context to live in, yet there is a certain atmosphere that you can't find in any other city. Let's take Vhyce as an example. This Portuguese-Italian breed steadily worked his way up to a noteworthy musical profile. Inspired by the desolation in these suburbs, or by the boredom, he grew into a self-taught producer. Musically, Vhyce is greatly influenced by the lineage of nineties RNB from the emergence of soul music onwards, which ultimately results in his signature house sounds! In 2010 he had his nationwide breakthrough by releasing his debut EP, 'Voivodine', on the respected Australian imprint Sweat it Out. Ever since, he is continuously taking the underground music scene by storm by releasing EP’s on a regular basis. In only a few years he built an impressive discography, with releases on first-rate labels such as No Brainer records and Sweat it Out. So, Vhyce managed to outgrow his grimy neighbourhood and is heading towards a bright future, a true working class hero.
