Board Boys are back, baby, for the season 11 opener, First Rat, by Gabriele Ausiello and Virginio Gigli. Board Boys Tim and Jake make their first appearance as regular hosts and good sport Dealt Hand Joe joins us for the episode after a very long game of Twilight Imperium. Also, we take a look back at several previous episodes in an extended Board Boys Bump, Cam talks Tetris music, and Rob introduces the homies to a game about psychics, pizza, and spooky ghosts.
We celebrate the release of a palindrome episode with the glorious news of the return of SHUX, the Shut Up & Sit Down Expo. Perhaps more relevantly, SVWAG are invited guests! Both Mark and Walker will be in Vancouver from September 30th to October 2nd. Now that you know where they will be, you can more efficiently avoid them. Have you ever created a sentient monster out of clay to do your bidding but it grew sentient and took its life into its own hands and began destroying homes and buildings around medieval Prague... uh, do you have any advice?Today we review Golem, the new heavy euro by a number of the Italian masters, including Flaminia Brasini, Virginio Gigli, Simone Luciani. The dam has burst, and the flow of large player-count games rushes without signs of abating. After a purgatorial thirteen months, Mark will be released from his Cain-like wanderings and allowed to repatriate to Kingston where he will get to be home. He figures that if Immanuel Kant got to be world famous before the age of global communications without leaving a 50 kilometer radius of his hometown, he has more than paid his dues. Sometimes your devotion and enthusiasm doesn't translate into research or comprehensiveness. Case in point, dear listeners--The Legend of Korra, a franchise Walker introduced to Mark, is one that Walker loves but--shocker!--is one he has only seen but half of. It is revealed during Mark's unhinged ramblings about he would have "fixed" season 3 that Walker is utterly unfamiliar with what he's talking about, and not for the usual reasons. Masterpiece Theatre will never be the same, and Walker just discovered he's got a lot more episodes of Korra than he thought existed.01:12 AYURIS: Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon (Krzysztof Piskorski & Marcin Świerkot, Awaken Realms, 2019)Games Played Last Week:04:40 -Sine Tempore (Luca Bernardini & Andrea Colletti, Ludus Magnus Studio, 2018)08:15 -Ultimate Railroads (Helmut Ohley & Leonhard "Lenny" Orgler, Hans im Glück, 2021)10:06 -The Siege of Runedar (Reiner Knizia, Ludonova, 2021)11:07 -Furnace (Ivan Lashin, Hobby World, 2021)15:31 -Brew (Stevo Torres, Pandasaurus Games, 2021)17:12 -Bärenpark (Phil Walker-Harding, Lookout, 2017)20:57 -Destinies (Michał Gołębiowski & Filip Miłuński, Lucky Duck Games, 2021)23:54 -War Chest (Trevor Benjamin & David Thompson, AEG, 2018)28:16 -Golem (Flaminia Brasini, Virginio Gigli, & Simone Luciani, Cranio Creations, 2021)31:01 -MicroMacro: Crime City--Full House (Johannes Sich, Pegasus Spiele, 2021)News (and why it doesn't matter):34:09 New Dungeon Bowl from Games Workshop35:24 Horseless Carriage by Jeroen Doumen & Joris Wiersinga of Splotter37:25 Familiar Tales by Jerry Hawthorne and Plaid Hat Games38:21 Star Fighters: Rapid Fire by Michael Dunsmore & Jordan Nichols and Alley Cat Games on Kickstarter 40:07 Parasocial Saturdays! The mere framing of a question can subtly or overtly determine the answer. There's an old joke about a monk who asks his superior, "Can I smoke while I meditate?" He is told no, as that would be sullying an act that is meant to be free from worldly concerns. The clever monk decides instead to ask another superior, "While I smoke, can I meditate?" So it is with boardgames! Framing can have tremendous consequences.01:55 AYURIS: XenoShyft: Onslaught (Keren Philosophales & Michael Shinall, CMON, 2015) and Dreadmire (Michael Shinall, CMON, 2017) Games Played Last Week:04:35 -Assault on Doomrock: Doompocalypse (Christopher Niewiadomski & Tom Stasiak, Beautiful Disaster Games, 2017)06:47 -Alma Mater (Acchittocca, Flaminia Brasini, Virginio Gigli, Stefano Luperto, & Antonio Tinto, eggertspiele, 2020)11:50 -Spirit Island: Jagged Earth (R. He is told no, as that would be sullying an act that is meant to be free from worldly concerns. Nel menu ci sarà anche Cat Lady (in italiano dispregiativo, gattara) di Josh...

Some of you might be unfamiliar with the traditions surrounding birthdays in Canada. They are savage affairs, drenched in blood and feats of suffering. I mean, there's the cake, sure, and that part is pretty benign--except for the baking of it, come to think of it, where the birthday girl or birthday boy is expected to remove the cake from an oven with their bare hands and devour the thing whole; then comes the declaration of threats, where the horribly burned, frosting-seared celebrant mounts a nearby table and screams doom to their enemies. Let's not get started on what kind of gifts are considered appropriate. It has been many a year since our early days, our salad days when we were younger and dumb and didn't know what we were doing. Much has changed, in that we are now older and dumb and don't know what we're doing. But the inexorable march of time has at least offered many new offerings in the broad tent of dexterity games, and so it is past time that we focus on one of our preferred genus of toy.01:26 AYURIS: Golem (Flaminia Brasini, Virginio Gigli, & Simone Luciani, Cranio Creations, 2021)Games Played Last Week:04:19 -Anachrony (Dávid Turczi, Mindclash Games, 2017)11:11 -Welcome to the Moon (Alexis Allard & Benoit Turpin, Blue Cocker Games, 2021)15:44 -General Orders: World War II (Trevor Benjamin and David Thompson, Osprey Games, 2023)22:16 -Sail (Akiyama Koryu & Korzu Yusei, Allplay, 2023)25:25 -Burned (Jon Moffat, Stone Circle Games, Unpublished)28:39 -My Island (Reiner Knizia, KOSMOS, 2023)34:50 -Bloodstones (Martin Wallace, Wallace Designs, 2023)News (and why it doesn't matter):39:59 Mythic Games sells Anastyr and Hel: The Last Saga to CMON; backers will get base game only41:44 Renegade Games' Axis and Allies: G.I.
