We Run the World Through Our Torah and Mitzvos (Behar-Bechukosai 5785)
It's time for another Life in the Fast Lane, and at long last, we've made it: today is the seventh. It's Tokyo Drift Minute #14, and it's time to explore who Major Boswell (Brian Goodman) is. Also: Joe has a new thought on the seventh debate. Also: the 2 Fast 2 Forever Hall of Fame voting is now open! Vote here. We Run the VIN and discover that he's made ten new posts in the past two weeks… he's back, baby! We ask: how does Vin text with his friends? What name does he make his mother call him? Joe makes bold guesses about upcoming Fast films. We ask: will we get a Han and Gisele wedding scene in the next film? Can you still buy Surge? You sign your Mother's Day painting with that name? Joe talks about seeing an illusionist, while Joey talks about The Pitt, Balatro, and the Final Destination movies. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. We return to Bear Country with another Life in the Fast Lane and another minute driving through Shangri-La in Tokyo Drift, where Joe talks about Victorville, Calif. and Arizona oil. We watch (twice, accidentally) the Haagen-Dazs Super Bowl commercial and talk about a live Fast & Furious-related event in NYC. We Run the VIN and continue to learn who Vin Diesel is -- and what he most cares about. We reflect more on the future of BDWHAPFY, hear Jerry's recap of 2 Fast 2 Furious, and talk about Heart Eyes and more Best Picture nominees. It's time for another installment of Life in the Fast Lane, and babe wake up, Vin Diesel just posted. We kick things off with the sixth minute of Tokyo Drift, which gets some car racing action! (And also creepy sexualization.) We try to make sense of Andy Tudor's intriguing posts on X, Vin's sly "Dwayne" at the Golden Globes, and the mystery behind some recent "Fast and Furious footage." We Run the Vin to find many posts, including one that shows how Vin is giving Los Angeles what it needs the most right now: Fast & Furious. We discuss Gen Z stars in the Fastiverse, the best "carty" in the franchise, and Jerry's interesting idea about Rob Cohen as Pizza Boy. Joe recaps his trip to LA and visiting Cosm, while Joey talks about CES 2025 and Grand Theft Hamlet. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. It's time for another Life in the Fast Lane and we're telling our arch rival high school: NOT IN OUR POND. GO DUCKS! After covering another minute of Tokyo Drift that brings us closer to the actual movie, we review the 2 Fast 2 Furious goofs (including an all-time great one, which makes us investigate... a sound?). We Run the VIN to explore his Thanksgiving sadness (and FastX2), explore how the Interquel meter has shifted, and debate if the horny is still in this franchise, after all. Joe reviews Mike Skin Illustrations. We kick off Turbos for Tots season. Email us: family@cageclub.me Visit our Patreon page at patreon.com/2fast2forever. It's time for another Life in the Fast Lane as we cover yet another action-packed (just kidding) extended scene from 2 Fast 2 Furious, this one staring TyB Island as Roman Pearce. We realize how long it will take to cover Tokyo Drift in our current Minute format and then take a brief detour to talk about the Olympics, Raygun, and the sports that the U.S. should dominate in international play. We Run the VIN to ask if Suki is returning and to discover even more fake/new names for Fast and Furious movies. We share an update on Randy's ambitious edit project and talk about deep-fried PB&Js and the Mystery Spot. Joe talks about traveling around America. Joey compares Trap to Old. In 2003, McSweeney's, the San Francisco-based literary quarterly, published the first issue of a new monthly magazine called “The Believer.” The graphic-rich journal focused on elevating new writers, publishing poetry, long-form journalism and quirky stories and was nominated for a raft of magazine awards. But hard times led to its sale, and through various twists and turns, the magazine's website was sold to a media company that tried to turn it into a less than literary clickbait factory. This story, however, has a happy ending that is a new beginning: After a successful Kickstarter campaign, McSweeney's has bought back “The Believer.” We'll talk to the editors about the first new issue, and what they hope for the magazine's resurrection. Guests: Vendela Vida, founding editor, The Believer; author of six books, including "We Run the Tides," "Let the Northern Lights Erase Your Name" and "The Diver's Clothes Lie Empty;" founding board member, 826 Valencia. Heidi Julavits, founding editor, The Believer; author of "The Folded Clock: A Diary," as well as four critically acclaimed novels; co-editor, New York Times bestseller "Women in Clothes;" her memoir, "Directions to Myself," is forthcoming in 2023. Daniel Gumbiner, editor, The Believer; Gumbiner's first book, "The Boatbuilder," was nominated for the National Book Award and a finalist for the California Book Awards. Ed Park, founding editor, The Believer; author, "Personal Days" and forthcoming "Same Bed Different Dreams."

We Run 313's motto is “Connect. Run. Build.” Lance Woods and Joe Robinson founded the social run club to connect “like-minded individuals through running to build a healthier and happier community.” That community is Detroit, which is where the “313” comes from - it's the Motor City's area code. We Run 313 has become Detroit's largest run club in just three years, not only in-person, but also on Strava, where it has 2190 members. Joe and Lance are both competitive runners, but the runs that We Run 313 hosts aren't about competition. As Lance explains, “we're for runners of all levels, all ages, all races, all paces, whatever the case may be. We're a community-based organization that helps people to keep moving and to stay active.” For complete show notes and links, visit our website at runningforreal.com/episode302. Susie Boutry (@NovelVisits) and I share our favorite books that missed last year's Summer Reading Guides, some deep backlist books we think are great for summer reading, and our #1 picks for four categories featured in Sarah's 2022 Summer Reading Guide. This post contains affiliate links, through which I make a small commission when you make a purchase (at no cost to you!). Introducing Summer Shelves (a companion to my Summer Reading Guide)… In addition to my annual 2022 Summer Reading Guide, I'm introducing Summer Shelves, a companion exclusively for Superstars Patrons ($7/mo). Summer Shelves features BACKLIST summer reading recommendations from over 25 former podcast guests and our team members. The Summer Shelves design is clean, crisp, and unique and you'll receive it in a PDF file format via Patreon. If you'd like to get the Summer Shelves companion guide, you can sign up to be a Superstars patron here. You'll also get access to a monthly bonus podcast series called Double Booked (where Catherine or Susie and I share our own book recommendations in the same format as the big show) and my Rock Your Reading Tracker. Some of her fondest childhood memories involve long afternoons at the library and then reading late into the night. More than ten years ago, she began journaling about the books she read and turned that passion into writing about books. Her first forays were as a guest reviewer on a friend's blog, but she soon realized she wanted to be reviewing and talking about books on a blog of her own. From there, Novel Visits was born. That was in 2016 and, though the learning curve was steep, she loves being a part of the book community. Novel Visits focuses on new novel reviews (print and audio), previews of upcoming releases, and musings on all things bookish.
