When writing teacher Peter Turchi sees a map, he looks for the adventure it holds. “To ask for a map,” he says, “is to say, ‘Tell me a story.’ ” I seized on that idea when preparing to teach a Sunday school class during Christmas on the “Faith of the Wise Men.” As I studied maps, I learned the Magi traveled some nine hundred miles—perhaps over several months—to find the Christ child, finally finding not a babe in a manger but a toddler living with His parents in a house. Their reaction after such a long trip? “They bowed down and worshiped him” (Matthew 2:11). Their journey invited my students and me to plan with intention to seek Christ more fully. As Scripture tells us, when the Magi finally arrived in Jerusalem, their urgent question was: “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him” (v. 2). Distance didn’t deter their worship. Nor did danger or delays. Herod’s deadly demand was ironic: “Go and search carefully for the child” (v. 8). Nobody had searched more carefully for Jesus than the Magi. We can heed the example of the wise men by seeking Christ carefully, too. Then, as we worship Him, we can expect our heavenly Father to speak to our hearts, leading us from old ways to new paths to journey with Him.

“Have Astronomers Found the True ‘Star of Bethlehem'?” That provocative question was the title of an article that came out last month in Scientific American. It's an interesting inquiry – and one that receives a lot of attention at this time of year. Tomorrow is the Festival of the Epiphany. It's that day in the Church Year when we hear about the arrival of the Wisemen, the Magi from the East. Matthew has the answer to this question! And you'll be delighted as the Magi to hear it.
In our Epiphany Sunday message, Andy shares with us from Matthew 2: 1-12. We see the story of the Wise Men and their call to faithfulness above all else. May that be our goal for this new year!
In our INTERSECTION message from January 4, 2026, Rev. Steve Casteel reminds us that just like the Wise Men, we are on a journey together. But to where?
The story of the Wise Men from the East led by a star to worship the Christ child is one of the most enchanting stories in the gospel. And for two thousand years this story has fascinated artists of all kinds—painters and poets, composers and writers.

The message explored the mysterious journey of the wise men from the East and what their arrival at the manger means for each of us today. While many details about these travelers remain unclear—where exactly they came from, how many there were, even their true identity—one thing is crystal clear: God chose these Gentile foreigners to reveal that Jesus came not only as the Savior of the Jews but as the Light to all nations.

The Wisemen, or Magi, use their freedom and leisure time wisely on things that mattered; to find the ultimately meaning and purpose for life. We are all called to make a similar journey and not to fall into the trap of using our freedom to enslave ourselves, or our leisure to busy ourselves from this important task. Jesus promises that if we embark upon this journey, using our natural Insight, and scripture, he will further miraculously help us to have a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ.
So, what’s the deal with the “Three Wise Men?” Where did they come from and why? If they weren’t even there on Christmas Eve, how come we have kings and camels in our manger scene? We’ll look at these questions and gain some insights into why “wise men still seek Him.”

Inclement weather. Traffic snarls. Detours. Flights canceled. Roads closed. As the song goes, "Gee, the traffic is terrific". But it's always been that way. Just ask Joseph. And check with the Wise Men. There will be changes to our plans and detours in the year ahead. However, one thing is certain through it all. With the birth of Jesus, Immanuel, we can take heart and look ahead with confidence – God is with us.

...There Came Wise Men... | Matthew 2:1 | 28 December 2025 - Sunday Morning | Dr. Brad Weniger, Pastor
How did the "Wisemen" understand the story of our savior? Lets listen to what their perspective would have been.
In this message, Pastor Dean Infinger unravels the incredible journey of the Magi—the mysterious wise men who traveled great distances, navigated a treacherous political landscape under King Herod, and followed a single star to worship the newborn King. Discover the courage, faith, and transformative sacrifice of these seekers, and learn how their quest for truth holds powerful lessons for your own journey today.
Pastor Brian Lee preaches from the book of Matthew with the message of the Wise Men at Petra Baptist Church in Saint Augustine, Florida.
In the final week of the "Perspectives of Christmas" series, Pastor Curt Taylor invites us to revisit the journey of the wise men and consider why it matters what we pour our lives into. Drawing on the ancient story of the magi, he shows that their long, intentional pursuit of Jesus reveals a deeper truth: it's not enough to simply know about Christ. We are called to invest in Him with our time, treasures, and attention. This message reminds us that worship isn't just a moment on Sunday, but a daily choice about where our hearts, priorities, and resources flow. Ultimately, Pastor Curt points us to a Christmas shaped not by busyness or distraction but by purposeful devotion to the King who is worth everything.
Revisit the familiar story of the Wise Men through three powerful images from the story in Matthew's Gospel: the Star, the Sword, and the Shepherd-King. Together, they help us see—perhaps with fresh eyes—the true glory of who Jesus is: the Cosmic Jewish King for all nations. Though opposed by evil and human rebellion, He triumps through sacrifical love, ultimately giving His life on the cross. Whether you come as a follower of Christ or are still exploring faith, this message invites you—like the Wise Men—to receive Jesus as your King and respond with faith, joy, and worship. This message was preached by Pastor Dan McIntosh on December 24, 2025.

Kyle Kauffman | Dec 28 2025 When you look at Jesus, what do you see? Do you see a King who deserves to be worshipped with everything you have? Or do you see threat to your way of life and your control over things? The journey and response of the wise men who came to meet Jesus after his birth challenge us to see Jesus not only as a baby in a manger, but as the King God promised to rule over all people. Unlike Herod, who saw Jesus as a threat to his throne, the wise men responded with worship—marked by joy, devotion, and costly gifts. Their story is meant to confront our hearts: will we cling to our personal kingdoms, or bow before the one true King? The wise men also discovered that Jesus is unlike any earthly ruler. He comes gently, for the weak and lowly, and reigns with compassion like a shepherd. At Christmas, we're invited to follow the wise men's example to see and submit to Jesus as our King and give ourselves fully to Him in joyful worship.
Join me and Scott as we take a look at the arrival of the "Wise Men" or Magi at the home of Jesus. Are they really wise? How did they know? Why would God allow such suffering to result from Jesus' birth? Let's explore these thoughts together. #godslove #faith #faithinchrist #christmas #christmasstory #wisemen #magi #christisking #godisincontrol #godhasaplan
By now, we're all pretty familiar with the classical manger Nativity scene. The baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph, Shepherds, and Wise Men. While the addition of the 'Wise Men' doesn't seem so odd or important to us today, to Matthew's audience, it would have been a radical proclamation that not only is this baby Jesus King of the Jews, but he is the King of the World. - Pastor Arek O'ConnellSupport the show
Matthew 2:1–12 tells the story of the Magi and their journey to worship the newborn King. This passage reveals three distinct responses to Jesus' birth—hostility, apathy, and worship—and challenges us to consider our own response today. Will we oppose Him, ignore Him, or bow before Him as King? Join us as we explore what it means to truly worship Jesus and why His coming changes everything.

True worship of God results in transformed lives.
With the wise-man ornament, Mr. Wiseman follows the journey of the magi from Matthew 2. These travelers sought the newborn King, bringing gifts and worship. 337 – Let the light of Christmas shine brightOne of the major themes at Christmas time is the light of Christ shining into a dark world. In fact the Christmas story has all kinds of light in it. There's the star that appears to the Wisemen from the East. There's the glory of God shining on the shepherds as the angels talk to them. And most important of all is the birth of Jesus, who came as the Light of the world. But Jesus didn't come just for us to be passive recipients of his light. He wanted us to follow his example of bringing light to the darkness of fear, disease, despair, and sin. He even said we are also the light of the world. And that's what this episode is about, being the light and letting your light shine out into the darkness this Christmas, and beyond. ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞SHOW NOTES: For a full transcript and Bible quotes, go to thebiblespeakstoyou.com/337Spotify Christmas PlaylistText me your questions or comments.Support the showIf you enjoy the podcast, please rate and leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify__________________James Early, the Jesus Mindset Coach, is a Bible teacher, speaker, and podcaster. What does it really mean to worship wisely? In Matthew 2, the Wise Men show us that worship is not accidental—it's intentional, costly, and rooted in wisdom. They didn't allow distance, discomfort, or danger to keep them from encountering Jesus. Instead, they followed the leading of the Holy Spirit, searched the Scriptures, and responded with humble obedience. In this message, we learn that:• Wise worship seeks Jesus intentionally• Wise worship responds to divine direction• Wise worship brings God our very bestThe gifts they brought (gold, frankincense, and myrrh) weren't random. They revealed who Jesus is: King, Holy, and Savior. True worship still requires that same understanding today. Our worship, our resources, and our lives belong to Him.Scripture References:• Matthew 2:1–11• Numbers 24:17• Micah 5:2• Philippians 3:12Be encouraged to approach God with wisdom, humility, and wholehearted worship—because when we bow before Him, we align our lives with His purpose.
Matthew 2:7–12 - Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star had appeared. [8] And he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.” [9] After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. [10] When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. [11] And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. [12] And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way. (ESV) THE EVENING MINDSET IS COMING! Matthew 2:1–8 - Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea @in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, [2] saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” [3] When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; [4] and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. [5] They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet: [6] “‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’” [7] Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star had appeared. [8] And he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.” (ESV) THE EVENING MINDSET IS COMING! One of the most intriguing elements of the Christmas story is that of the wise men, who see a mysterious star and set out on a journey that ultimately leads them to worship Jesus. In this week's message from Matthew 2, Pastor J.D. gives us a snapshot of various responses to the birth of Jesus, all of which are still seen in different degrees today. Just as God used a sign to lead the wise men to the Savior, he continues to meet us where we are and draw us to himself. The only question is if we will respond to Jesus' birth as the wise men did, with joy upon joy upon joy.
