Cyrus Nowrasteh wrote and Directed one of my personal favorites starring Harvey Keitel. The highly controversial "The Path to 911". The Clintons hated this movie that was almost banned. This interview takes place at 48:48 into the show.

There is no need for Minority Report like technology, where 3D figures pop out of computers to personalize sales pitches that are tailored just for you. We do not need that technology because we already have it in the form of celebrities. Like it or not, at the end of the day, a celebrity's main job is to sell you junk that you do not need. It is that simple; there is nothing more to it than that. This is, after all, the only reason certain celebrities make more money than others. You are meant to assume that a person is paid by how talented they are, but talent has nothing to do with being famous. When you think about it, it is extremely easy to create art that most people will like. You see it all the time on social media; some influencer figures out what their followers love (generally an amalgamation of unboxing videos, reaction scenes and puppies) and, the next thing you know, some douche bag down the street has over a million views for selling you supplements for "anxiety" (anxiety is real, but most people who claim to have it have never received a formal diagnosis for it and very well could just be experiencing a basic stress reaction, which you cannot treat, no matter how many sugar pills you pop). Youtube celebrities are somewhat new, but trust me when I tell you that they are not really all that different from Hollywood celebrities. For example, why do celebrity comics go on standup comedy tours? Sure, it makes sense for someone just breaking in the business to do this because, well, no one knows who they are. But the higher up the ladder you go, the less sense it makes for these celebrities to go on tour. Standup comics often say that they are honing their craft, but really what they are doing is selling products. Touring actors, singers, dancers, and stand up comedians all have long lasting contracts with various companies. Dave Chapelle, for example, is owned by Netflix, and he does a wonderful job making money for them by advertising with his infantile shock humor, which Netflix then turns into a profit by selling various anti-gay films to extremist consumers. Don't believe me? Here is a list of so-called "spiritual movies" on the so-called "liberal" companies platform: A Walk to Remember (2002), Soul Surfer (2011), The Healer (2017), God Bless the Broken Road (2018), God's Not Dead (2014), An Interview With God (2018), Never Heard (2018) ...The Young Messiah (2018), etc. Chapelle's rabid anti-gay humor is encouraged by Netflix because it helps to sell these crappy movies to Christian extremists. But Chapelle is a lightweight compared to Oprah Winfrey, who was really the first big celebrity influencer. Conspiracy theorists like Joe Rogan, Alex Jones, Ben Shapiro, and Tucker Carlson have all copied the Oprah sales pitch model, which marketers have named "The Oprah Effect". Oprah had the largest daytime audience..ever, and still does even in syndication. If Oprah mentions your product on the air, you are going to make big bucks because, well, Oprah's fans listen to everything she tells them to do, everything. You know, like a cult, which is all fandom really is. In 2014 Oprah simply mentioned Weight Watchers on the her show and overnight they were a multi-million dollar company. Oprah's fans eventually left weight watchers because it was ineffective at creating weight loss, but many of them have returned, led back to the same damn diet that does not work by various other celebrities like Jessica Simpson, Jenny McCarthy (who also happens to be an anti-vaxxer by the way) and Jennifer Hudson, who, go figure, just happens to make appearances on Oprah's OWN network all the time. They all work together to maximize their profits and you are fronting the bill. Of course the Oprah effect is nothing more than the Halo Effect, which elevates celebrities above the rest of us because "ow, look at that, they can speak well or sing or act". It is perhaps the dumbest bias and it could lead you to the poor house. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/morecontentplease/support
Cyrus Nowrasteh was born in Boulder, Colorado of Iranian parents, and lived in Iran as a young boy. A graduate of the USC cinema program, he has worked in the motion picture and television business for over 20 years. He has worked as a writer on a number of TV series, most notably developing and writing the pilot for the hit USA network show, “La Femme Nikita” which ran for five years (1996-2001) and was the most successful series on USA up to that time. In the following years, Cyrus focused on docudrama and history. In 2001 he wrote and directed the highly acclaimed Paramount/Showtime feature presentation, “ The Day Reagan Was Shot.” To this day it is Showtime's highest-rated movie and is available on DVD. The film was executive produced by Oliver Stone and starred Richard Dreyfuss, who earned a SAG best actor nomination for his portrayal of Alexander Haig. It also received an EDDIE award as well as the Golden Satellite Award for Best Cable Motion Picture of 2001. The following year he reteamed with Showtime to write “ 10,000 Black Men Named George,” starring Andre Braugher. It brings to the screen the true story of activist A. Philip Randolph who led the famous Pullman strike of the 1930s. For both of the above films, Cyrus received the PEN Literary Award for best teleplay, becoming the only writer in the history of the PEN awards to win two years in a row in the same category. In 2005 Cyrus was recruited by Steven Spielberg to write an episode of the Dreamworks/TNT miniseries “Into the West,” which was nominated for sixteen Emmy awards and winner of three. He has also performed production rewrites for Paramount Pictures on such notable movies as “The Hunted” (2003, starring Tommy Lee Jones), “Beyond Borders” (2003, starring Angelina Jolie), and “Shooter” (2007, starring Mark Wahlberg). Cyrus became a national figure as the writer and producer of the acclaimed and controversial ABC docudrama, “ The Path to 9/11,” which aired on September 10th and 11th, 2006, to an audience of 28 million viewers. He became the focal point of a partisan political attack which cast him in the public arena appearing on CNN, FOX news, talk radio, and in print in the Wall Street Journal and other publications. The DVD release of that film has been suppressed to this day. Once again, Cyrus has taken on another controversial true story, THE STONING OF SORAYA M., based on the book of the same title by French/Iranian author Freidoune Sahebjam. A dramatization of an actual stoning incident in Iran, Cyrus adapted the screenplay with his wife, Betsy Giffen Nowrasteh. Although produced separately, this is their first collaboration. Cyrus is also the director and working for the first time with MPOWER Pictures and producers Steve McEveety and John Shepherd. The Young Messiah, is a biblical drama set for release on March 11th, 2016. Filmed in Matera and Rome, Italy, the plot follows Jesus Christ at age 7 when he returns to Nazareth and learns about his true place in the universe as the son of God. Nowrasteh acquired the film rights in 2011, and wrote the script along with his wife Betsy Giffen. Chris Columbus developed the film through his 1492 Pictures banner and helped get financing through Ocean Blue Entertainment. Focus Features/Universal acquired the US distribution rights in 2014. Principal photography began on September 15, 2014 in Matera and Rome, Italy. The film was delivered (completion of post-production) in June, 2015. The vowels necessary to pronounce the sacred Name of God, revealed to Moses in the burning bush, are found again in the Hebrew name of Jesus, Emmanuel, with the addition of the consonants from the verb “to save.” "In this way, while the Name of God is so holy, mysterious, and pure that it cannot be pronounced by a human mouth, the addition of Christ’s divine will to save mankind “translates,” that is, transfers, the sanctity of God to our level as creatures and at last makes it possible for us, too, to pronounce God’s true Name, which cannot be any other than Jesus, and thus be saved. All else that we subsequently come to know about God rests on this primary revelation: He is the One who saves us in Jesus” (Vol. 1 of Fire of Mercy, Heart of the Word). "In a word, the kingdom of God is the manifestation and the realization of God’s plan of salvation in all its fullness. The kingdom of God is not a concept, a doctrine, or a program subject to free interpretation, but is before all else a person with the face and name of Jesus of Nazareth, the image of the invisible God" (Redemptoris Missio, 15, 23). The kingdom you live for is the kingdom you're building. The kingdom you're building is the kingdom you experience. If you're not experiencing peace in an area of your life (domain), you are being influenced by the enemy and are unconsciously allowing him to steal your rightful domain. Enthronement of Christ as King in every area (domain) of our lives is the task of every Christian, and the reason we are here on earth at all. We cannot spread Christ's Kingdom to others if we have not enthroned Him ourselves. By default, if Jesus is not king in any domain of my life, the enemy is. In and through Christ, I have authority over my body, mind, soul, and spirit, and all that is under my earthly authority. Where have I allowed the enemy to steal my domain? Cinematic Sound Radio - Soundtracks, Film, TV and Video Game Music
Welcome to another of the continuing series of film, TV and video game composer interviews on CINEMATIC SOUND RADO. Today Jason Drury chats with composer Paul Mills. Born in West Texas, Mills spent the early days of his career in the studios of Music Row, producing and recording artists like The Imperials, Wayne Watson, Phillips, Craig & Dean, Twila Paris, and Newsong. Over those industrious ten-plus years, Paul's production efforts helped to craft a staggering 40 #1 singles. He also produced and co-created the highly successful album/concert series, "The Young Messiah," an annual Christmas tour boasting a variety of talented artists. The accumulation of such a wide range of accomplishments earned this busy musician his first-ever GMA nomination for Producer of the Year early in his career. Since that accolade, others have been added to the list including American Songwriter Magazine's 'Christian Producer of the Year,' Best Score at the Gideon Film Festival, and multiple Platinum and Gold-selling albums and compilations. Through his work as a producer, Paul was led to filmmakers The Erwin Brothers where he produced music for the Roadside Attractions music biopic I Can Only Imagine starring Dennis Quaid. Some of Paul's other film credits include the critically acclaimed WOODLAWN starring Sean Austin, AGAINST THE SUN starring Garret Dillahunt, Tom Felton, and Jake Abel, KILL THE MAN starring Luke Wilson and Joshua Malina and STILL BREATHING starring Brendan Fraser and Joanna Going, among others. In September 2019, Jason Drury talked to Mills via skype at his home in Texas about his latest score to OVERCOMER, his collaborations with the Kendrick and Erwin Brothers and his career in film music in general. Also during the show, you will be hearing music from the fore-mentioned OVERCOMER and also some of Paul’s other memorable scores. “Overcomer” follows the story of high school basketball coach John Harrison (played by Alex Kendrick) and his team as they face an uncertain future when their town's largest manufacturing plant shuts down unexpectedly. As hundreds of people move away, John reluctantly agrees to coach cross-country. His outlook soon changes when he meets Hannah Scott (newcomer Aryn Wright-Thompson), a runner who pushes herself to the limit for the biggest race of her life. The film marks the anticipated return of filmmakers and brothers Alex and Stephen Kendrick after their #1 box-office hit “War Room”, and their second collaboration with Multi-award winning composer and producer Paul Mills. —— Cinematic Sound Radio Web: http://www.cinematicsound.net Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/cinsoundradio Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/cinematicsound Cinematic Sound Radio Fanfare and Theme by David Coscina https://soundcloud.com/user-970634922 Bumper voice artist: Tim Burden http://www.timburden.com

After watching the new movie "Young Messiah" about Jesus when he was seven years old, David shared deep insights with a group of friends at the Metaphysical Center in Kamas. Jesus was called to follow Spirit so perfectly that he could demonstrate perfect defenselessness and remember his oneness with God. He now leads us in the overall Plan of Atonement, offering the means of awakening that we also may accept our Self as the perfect Child of God.Recorded July 17, 2016 at the Living Miracles Metaphysical Center in Kamas, Utah.

Writer, director, producer Chris Columbus (Gremlins, Home Alone, Harry Potter, Goonies)guests on an all new Fake Show podcast with host Jim Tofte. Chris discusses his new film "The Young Messiah." Enjoy!
The film starts with young Jesus with his family, having fled to Egypt due to a decree by Herod the Great to find the child that had managed to escape slaughter as a babe seven years back. At this point in his life, Jesus isn't yet aware of his divine identity, having recently been able to resurrect a dead bird. While there, Jesus has his first run-in with a crafty Demon who is trying to alter events against the young Son of God, resulting in circumstances that cause Jesus to employ his ability to raise the dead yet again. Meanwhile, as Herod's reported death clears the coast for the family for the long road back to their home in Nazareth, Roman Centurion named Severus is tasked by Herod's new reigning son, also called Herod, with investigating the whereabouts of the boy, and, if found, putting an end to his life. Along the way, Jesus finally confronts the hows and whys of what makes him different than other little boys his age.

Cyrus Nowrasteh is a writer, producer, and director. Starting out as a television writer, Cyrus received the Pen USA West Literary Award for Best Teleplay twice, and is the only writer in the history of the Pen awards to win two years in a row in the same category. He wrote the pilot for the USA Network show “La Femme Nikita”, as well as numerous episodes of “Falcon Crest”. He also wrote and produced the Emmy award winning ABC miniseries “The Path to 9/11”, which starred Oscar winner Harvey Keitel. Cyrus’ film work has been equally illustrious. He wrote and directed “The Day Reagan was Shot”, which starred Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss and was executive produced by Oscar winner Oliver Stone. He then went on to co-write and direct the film “The Stoning of Soraya M.”, which starred Jim Caviezel and won runner-up for the Audience Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, amongst numerous other award wins. “The Stoning of Soraya M.” was condemned and banned by the Iranian government but thousands of copies were bootlegged into the country and it became an underground hit in Iran - forcing the government to put a temporary suspension on stoning as a punishment. Cyrus’ latest release “The Young Messiah”, which he directed and co-wrote, is based on an Anne Rice novel, and stars Sean Bean. It will be released in theaters nationwide on March 11.
Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! when Scott McCausey talks music with Christian performing legend, Twila Paris. Devotion to God runs deep in the Paris family. Twila's great-grandparents were itinerant preachers in Arkansas and Oklahoma who held outdoor revival meetings and established churches, and she recounted this experience in Seventy Years Ago, a song on her Beyond a Dream album. Musical talent permeates the Paris family, as her grandmother wrote songs distributed at revivals. Her father, Oren Paris, is a minister as well as an accomplished musician and songwriter. Twila sang at church before she was old enough to attend school. She began developing her instrumental talent at the age of six when she started taking piano lessons. By the time she was performing in her high school choir, Twila was determined to become a choir teacher. She began to consider songwriting after attending a Christian discipleship school, where she decided that music would be the perfect way to express her feelings about God. In the 1980s and 1990s, Twila toured extensively as she opened for the Imperials. After receiving her first #1 hit, she began headlining her own concert tours with such notable opening artists as Wayne Watson, Clay Crosse, Phil Kaeggy, Avalon, Aaron Jeoffrey, and Fernando Ortega. She was featured in the Young Messiah tour and co-hosted with Steven Curtis Chapman. In the 2000s, she continues to tour but not as extensively. In 2011-2012, Twila participated in the Christian Classics tour with Steve Green, Wayne Watson, and Michael Card.
