They delve into the themes of Copulsky's book, American Heretics: Religious Adversaries of Liberal Order, which examines religious critiques of America's political foundations from the Revolutionary era to the present. Copulsky unpacks how various religious thinkers have rejected liberal democracy and envisioned alternative political and theological systems, including theocracy and biblically centered governance. The discussion navigates the intersections of faith, politics, and pluralism, exploring the fragility of liberal democracy and the tensions between religious liberty and political authority. The episode challenges listeners to critically examine the evolving role of religion in America's political landscape.Buy American Heretics: Religious Adversaries of Liberal Order: https://yalebooks.yale.edu/book/9780300241303/american-heretics/Guest Bio:Jerome Copulsky is a research fellow at the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs at Georgetown University. One thing I've come to realize and love about my relationship with my husband (there are many) is that we are on the same page politically, morally, and religiously. These are important things to note when you are dating someone and talking about marriage. No, you don't have to agree on everything, but in my opinion the big stuff you should. If you are single, dating, talking about getting married, I would ask these 3 questions What are their religious beliefs? What are their morals? What are their political views? These are hard topics to discuss, I get it, but they are vitally important in a relationship. Think about it, you want to spend the rest of your life with this person. This is the person you will be making all your decisions with. This is the person you will be raising your children with. This is the person you are sharing your finances with. This is the person you will live with. This is an important decision. I cannot stress this enough!! I want to help you become confident in your own skin. I want to help you see your worth. Case Interview Preparation & Management Consulting | Strategy | Critical Thinking
For this episode, let's revisit a Case Interview & Management Consulting classic where we discuss religion, politics, culture, etc. When interviewing with a partner or associate from a different culture, it is very easy to say something which can offend a person. Our very own clients have said seemly innocent things only to have it blow up in their face much later, and sometimes in the interview. We have a strict rule of never discussing religion, politics, culture and ethnicity with clients. This avoids topics which can offend people if the wrong things are said. The issue is not about who right, since this is an issue of personal faith and rationality does not always work. It is best to avoid these topics. In the tapestry of human experience, few threads are as intricate and intertwined as those of religion, politics, and spirituality. From the dawn of civilization to the modern era, these realms have shaped societies, influenced cultures, and ignited passionate debates about the nature of power, morality, and the human condition. Exploring the dynamic interplay between religion, politics, and spirituality offers a fascinating glimpse into the complexities of human belief systems and how they intersect and diverge. The relationship between religion, politics, and spirituality reflects the fundamental human quest for meaning, belonging, and purpose. Whether expressed through prayer, activism, or contemplation, these realms offer pathways for individuals and communities to grapple with life's most profound questions and aspirations. By fostering mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation, we can harness the transformative potential of religion, politics, and spirituality to create a more just, compassionate, and harmonious world for all.

He researches and teaches broadly on American religion, especially topics related to politics, race, secularism, and science. His first book, Sincerely Held: American Secularism and Its Believers (University of Chicago Press, 2022), examines the history of “sincerely held religious belief” and how that became a standard for legal understandings of religion in religious freedom cases. He is currently in the early stages of a project about a “crank,” in which he explores how religious, scientific, and political fringes are defined as such. Welcome back to the only podcast in the country who talks about the WCC basketball landscape during an NFL show. This week, we recap a measuring stick Week 11 in the NFL with some major storylines. Will a Chiefs WR learn how to catch the ball? Are the Bengals in trouble for hiding Joe Burrow's injury? Is Tommy DeVito our favorite Italian? Are the Broncos for real? We interrupt the recap of Week 11 for a major discussion about who should be in the MVP conversation where one very smart and good looking host brings a boat load of impressive stats that ends the debate in support of his guy. The other guy in the debate was in such awe of his brilliance that after recording the episode, the two buried the hatchet and agreed to be on the same team. Cam and TC3 cheer them on. In our Week 12 preview, Cam is ALL IN on his picks where he is the contrarian of the group this week. He needs a miracle to catch up in his picks, and Will and Kev look to increase their lead. Side note: all of us are still over the 93 percentile in picks because we know ball. On behalf of the BoP family, we wish all of you a happy Thanksgiving filled with food, family, and most importantly football! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/better-on-paper/message

The Prism of America's Education with Host Karen Schoen – Delve into the intricate dynamics of global politics, exposing hidden agendas and the power play behind recent events. Witness the role of world leaders, the strategies of globalist regimes, and the timeless tactics employed by certain groups. As history echoes its patterns, we must discern the undercurrents, from the influence of the media to the profound implications of elections.
No one wants to talk about politics with people who disagree with them, and so American society just votes and thinks like the echo chamber in which they feel most comfortable. No one wants to talk about money, so instead the average American lives paycheck to paycheck, can't afford a $500 medical emergency, and thinks people with financial means are selfish and without empathy or character. No one wants to talk about religion, so we develop a society that worships individuality at the expense of the group, and we fight wars over whose god is the truest. Why does this happen? What can we do about it? What is your personal role in it? Cody and Dr. Sean discuss.

On today's “Word on Fire Show,” Brandon Vogt and I discuss the relationship between politics and religion and the proper place of tolerance.
