Playlist (todas las canciones del álbum “Live at Montreux Jazz Festival 2023”);IGGY POP “TV Eye”IGGY POP “Modern day ripoff”IGGY POP “Raw power”IGGY POP “Gimme danger”IGGY POP “Lust for life”IGGY POP “Endless sea”IGGY POP “Sick on you”IGGY POP “Search and destroy”IGGY POP “Nightclubbing”IGGY POP “Down on the street”IGGY POP “Loose”IGGY POP “Frenzy”Escuchar audio

What exactly is this? Is it an episode of TRAPPO? Is it some kind of madcap experiment? Perhaps a commentary on the inherent banality of evil? Grace Jones is cool. Hulk Hogan is a terrible human being. Are we capable of caring for more than one person? What does Arnold Schwarzenegger's beard smell like? Have we summoned the ghost of Pauline Kael? I think we need to call everybody's favorite bio-exorcist. Frag grenades for days. The madness & the mania just blew our 24-inch guns out! Please visit the official TRAPPO blog (CLICK HERE) and leave us a comment. Tell us what you think of this... thing. Do you like this thing? Do you hate this thing? Would you like more things like this thing? Send us an email (CLICK HERE) and we'll tell you a secret that will shatter your reality. The long overdue second installment of Fragra-Files featuring the perfumes of Hedi Slimane's Celine. An incredible collection of extremely thoughtful and luxurious scents that are both as gorgeous as they are incredibly consistent with their through-line of orris, musk and soft woody notes. But who is the perfumer behind these compositions and why are they so focused on youthful (and slender) beauty in their inspirations? Well, we have our thoughts and discuss at length as we go through the entire collection that has become a true favorite of Fragraphilia.
In the history of pop music, how often has a performer had the chance to try something radically different from what they were known for? Sure, there are some artists who evolved over the course of their career, so where they ended up was radically different from where they started. I suspect, however, the list of performers who were known and appreciated for a style who then made a big change is a lot smaller. Ladies and gentlemen, we're here to present the case of Grace Jones. Welcome to episode 175 of Love That Album. Grace Jones is that rare case of artist who was a model, then went on to have an ongoing career as a respected singer. Her first trilogy of records were rooted in the disco scene where she had a strong following. Then….Studio 54 closed, Disco Demolition happened in Chicago, and disco music finished its moment in the mainstream. Most artists would persist with what they know and fade away or go on nostalgia tours. Grace Jones isn't most people. With the encouragement and support of Island Records head Chris Blackwell, she was put in a studio with the kings of reggae, and musicians representing the rock and emerging techno scene. She released her 4th album, Warm Leatherette album in 1980….very different from anything she'd done before. In 1981, she released the album many see as the pinnacle of her career, Nightclubbing. It's a mix of interpretations of others' songs and a few originals. Make no mistake – everything she sings, she owns, but the support of the Compass Point Allstars really elevates the record. This was the band Grace was meant to perform with. I am joined by Sam Whiles, the host of the excellent “Paul Or Nothing” (a show dedicated to the life and work of Paul McCartney) to discuss Nightclubbing and other aspects of Jones' work and life. We had a great conversation that I hope you will enjoy. It's not often….well never….that I've had a podcast where J.G Ballard, Donna Summer, Iggy Pop and Vanda and Young are all brought up. Frankly, LTA is all the better for it. My gratitude to Sam for suggesting this album as the focus for the episode. If you want to hear him talk McCartney, check out Paul Or Nothing on your favourite podcast apps or at https://mccartneypod.podbean.com Download this episode of LTA from your podcast app of choice (not Spotify). The pod welcomes commentators Jon Champion for the latest edition of Mesut Haaland Dicks, as he chooses his six personal fascinations and irritations of football. Among Jon's selections are Ally McCoist's sheer enthusiasm for football (and life), the romance of the underdog, overseas fans' fascination with English football, the temptation of recency bias, the grilled shrimp at Minnesota United and the overcomplication of football terminology. Meanwhile, the Adjudication Panel grill their guest on the art of teasing your co-commentator and enjoy his recorded audio for Pro Evolution Soccer 2013. Learn more about your ad choices. Grace - a name, an attribute, a vibe, and an attitude. And this week we are covering an artist and album that is all of these and so, so much more.Hilary and Cody put on their sharpest shoulder pads and strike their most stunning poses as they talk about Grace Jones' "Nightclubbing." Full of ambitiously reworked covers and autobiographical originals, this record is a dichotomy of new wave melodies and reggae-backed grooves. With Sly and Robbie and the Compass Point All-Stars laying the foundations, Grace's vocals are laser-focused on every track. A record that reflects the ambiguity and self-confidence of the artist, Nightclubbing is one of the most fully-realized artistic statements. Thanks for listening! "Nightclubbing" is the first-ever documentary about the renowned New York City nightclub Max's Kansas City) which had an massive impact on the worlds of music, fashion, art, culture and the creation of the city's punk rock. The famous back room, where Andy Warhol held court and artists, actors, filmmakers, models, writers, assorted criminals and countless musicians — from Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground to David Bowie and the New York Dolls — made an indelible mark on music and the world. Director Danny Garcia joins us from the NYC premiere of his film to talk Max's, CBGBs, New York City in the swinging '60s and filthy '70s, the birth of punk rock and making a movie during Covid times. As legendary singer and Max's veteran Alice Cooper, who is featured in the film , and who signed his contract with Warner Bros. Records at the club, says, "A million ideas were launched in Max's."

The only task more daunting in recent memory than this week's expedition to 1972, is LAST year's trip back to 1971, and that year's massive release of music! Some of the names are the same, but many are new, or renewed. More bands, still bound to the old school record label release schedules, make two appearances in '72.Other years would continue to make major impact, but 1971/1972 back-to-back? Tough to top!So, strap into The Imbalanced Time Machine, and let's go!!!Please check out our sponsors:Boldfoot Socks https://boldfoot.comCrooked Eye Brewery https://crookedeyebrewery.com/Don't forget that you can find all of our episodes, on-demand, for free right here on our web site: https://imbalancedhistory.com/And check our blog about exciting premier events for Danny Garcia's new film, "Nightclubbing!"

Coming out of 1967, The Rolling Stones were about to turn the corner on their career and become the band they were meant to be. Their next three albums: Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers saw their evolution hit overdrive, marked the band's departure from Decca/London Records, and sparked their long-time association with Atlantic Records via their own Rolling Stones Records label! This is also the part of their journey where founding member Brian Jones departs, and then dies suddenly. This episode delves into that chapter, and shows the band emerging on the other side. Rarely does a band, already established, rip off a series of three albums this good, in the middle of their career. Enjoy the ride! The Brian Jones Project:-Episode referenced in Unholy Trio!-Blog for the BJP episode! Please check out our sponsors:Boldfoot Socks https://boldfoot.comCrooked Eye Brewery https://crookedeyebrewery.com/Don't forget that you can find all of our episodes, on-demand, for free right here on our web site: https://imbalancedhistory.com/And check our blog about exciting premier events for Danny Garcia's new film, "Nightclubbing!"
