Episode 125 of the Live Authentically podcast presents Keith Anderson, a lawyer, consultant, keynote speaker and founder of Worth Living Mental Health Consulting. He's also an author of “Life Worth Living: A Mental Health Anthology.”Keith knows mental health struggles all too well. He founded his business because he had depression for 16 years himself. He says he lives authentically by being very real to himself. Keith talks about a very vivid mental breakdown he went through almost 20 years ago. He remembers the day. He remembers where he was. He can still picture what happened.“After my breakdown and recovery, I went to therapy for a couple of years and had great family support, I worked hard on myself at it as well,” Keith said. “I'm grateful every day. That's how I come in as real. That's how I start the day– I'm grateful I'm still here.”Keith sticks to the present by telling Pam that he's grateful he gets to chat with her. He says having someone new to connect with is special and keeps him grounded and real. He also expresses how he remembers the darkness, but how he also celebrates his life now through connecting with others. And Keith isn't afraid to admit that he will never be completely healthy as far as his mental health goes. He uses an analogy of the ankle he broke to explain why this is the case and how he copes with it.“Am I 100 percent healthy in terms of my mental health? No. Never will be,” Keith said. “I broke my ankle one day. I went through the crutches, the cast, physiotherapy, all those things, of course. Is it 100 percent? No, it's not. Never will be. But it functions. I can walk, I can run, I can get around.”Keith delves deeper into the time he had depression. He says he did not realize he had it. He talks about the tragedies he endured in his young life that likely contributed.“My father had died young, and with his passing, my everyday life changed,” Keith said. “I kind of just compounded at the time. I didn't get it, didn't understand what it was until I had hit a wall.”Keith went to see his family doctor the morning five days before his mental breakdown. He spent half an hour with him, which was rare– normally he'd only spend five minutes or so. They talked about depression. Keith had no idea what it was at the time.He believes the mental breakdown literally saved his life. You can learn more about Keith and his business by watching the podcast here. The Live Authentically podcast is back with Sharon Lebell, a bestselling author, composer, speaker and performing musician. Sharon joins Pam to talk about Stoicism, how to live your best possible life and her internationally bestselling book, “The Art of Living: The Classical Manual on Virtue, Happiness, and Effectiveness.”As per usual, Pam asks Sharon a pertinent question: “How do you live authentically?” To which Sharon responds, “I seek to live authentically every day by asking myself one question, and it's simply this: What can you do with the moment? What can I do with this moment? Because when you think about it, well, it's all we have.”It's true that the present moment is all that we have. And in this present moment, Sharon says we can make a choice that can resonate with us for years to come. It's hard for any of us to know exactly how, but we have the control to change the course of our lives by the decisions we make at any given moment.Getting out of the process of constantly unconsciously doing and shifting toward creating conscious choices isn't easy. It's not a problem that Sharon can conclusively solve. “But what I do believe we can do is set deliberate reminders to take a pause, to draw yourself back into yourself again, or to remember to remember,” Sharon shares. One of the ways Sharon says she does that for herself is by remembering that she's a musician. Sharon put a sticky note on one of her instruments so that when she passes by, she has to read it. The note reads, “Pay the toll,” prompting Sharon to play a tune on her instrument any time she reads the note.“I would urge other people to just find ways of reminding themselves… For lack of a better way of saying it, remind yourself to be who you decided you were going to be. I mean, you know, one of those aspects of that question for me is I'm a musician. Well, if you're a musician, pay the toll,” Sharon chuckled.Learn more about Sharon and what she has to offer by watching the full podcast episode here. Episode 123 of the podcast is back with David Wood, a previous guest on episode 84 of the show. With over 20 years of experience as a life coach, David is also the founder of Focus.ceo. David starts off part two of his podcast with his latest book, “Mouse in the Room: Because the Elephant isn't Alone”. The book talks about how the elephant isn't the only animal in the room. David says there are many other more subtle animals to see that not everyone in the room may be aware of. He provides a recent example.“Like, a couple of nights ago, I was at an acting class, and I suggested to someone something she could've done a little differently,” David said. “My story in my head is that ‘That didn't land well,' that she kind of felt a little bit insulted, and she did not want that feedback. And so, that's a mouse.”“Now, I could just let that mouse hide, or I could identify it and say, ‘Oh, okay,' and reach out (and I probably will today) and leave a message and say, ‘Hey, I just got the feeling that didn't land well and that wasn't what you wanted to hear, and I wanted to apologize.'”David stresses the importance of identifying the mouse in the room in the first place. That's part of why he named the book what he did, to center the problem in the room that many people are too scared to confront or name otherwise.“It's about authenticity,” David said. “It's about stopping the act that we're always presenting to the world, because we don't want to get in trouble or feel uncomfortable, and finding artful ways to name your mice so that you can be seen for who you are and generate more connection, confidence and be a better leader.”Naming the mouse in the room also generates more trust, according to David. Being real (or honest) in a situation can get you farther than pretending that the problem doesn't exist in the room in the first place. It's also the point of good leadership.“It works for leadership as well. If you're not willing to be revealed and give people a sense of who you are and what's driving you, and why you care about this and actually name what's happening, who's going to trust that?” David said. “They're not going to want to follow you. So, there's business application. If money's a driver for you, I think you'll make more money.”Watch the entire podcast episode here to learn more about David, his work and book. Live Authentically podcast episode 122 features Monique Rhodes, a self-proclaimed happiness strategist. On her website, Monique offers eight different kinds of courses focused on sleep and stress meditations to self-improvement and self-love exercises. When asked how she lives authentically each day, Monique says she practices by choosing to pay attention to the places her mind wanders.“I think that what most of us don't understand or realize is that we think we go through our day and make a whole bunch of decisions about what we like and what we don't like, the things that we're doing and not doing, and yet, most of those things are actually habits,” Monique said.Habits are important to get you from destination A to destination B. We need habits to know how to drive a car, brush our teeth every day or remember other important and healthy daily tasks. But what about our emotional space? Do habits form there, too? According to Monique, they most definitely do.“There's a whole bunch of other things that we're doing habitually that we're not even aware we are. Our emotional reactions, the way that we're showing up in the world, we think it's based on the present moment. But it's not actually,” Monique said. “It's based on past habits. And that really holds us back because when we start practicing a thought over and over again, that becomes a belief. And beliefs really drive our life.”Monique believes that it's okay to have beliefs about things, as long as they are conscious. However, Monique notes that most of the time, that is not the case. Most of the time, people are run by their longheld unconscious belief systems. Monique uses a flower as an example to explain the eight levels of consciousness people go through when forming beliefs. She says the first five levels of consciousness are based on your senses. You'll use sight as one of your first senses or levels of consciousness. Then you'll move to level six of consciousness, which recognizes the flower. Then you move into the problematic one, consciousness level seven.“The seventh consciousness says, ‘I like it, I don't like it or I feel negative about it,' Monique said. “And then the eighth consciousness stores it, a little bit like a piggy bank or an external hard drive on our computer, right? What then happens is, I show you this flower, you look at this flower, and you say to me, ‘Oh, I love that flower,” and you think in that moment that you're loving that flower, but if we were to look closely, we might find a past story sitting behind this love for a flower.”And it's those past stories sitting behind the flower that Monique says shape the way in which each of us chooses to live authentically.“When we start to break this down and look at it and work with it, I believe then we can begin on the journey of living authentically in a deep way,” Monique said.To learn more about Monique and her work, watch the Live Authentically podcast episode 122 here. Live Authentically podcast episode 121 features Dr. Varun Gandhi, a life and business coach who, if you read his website, went through a slew of career choices after leaving behind his career in environmental engineering consulting.Gandhi says he lives authentically by ensuring that he's expressing himself authentically. “Anything that comes out of my mouth, I want to make sure it's authentic,” Gandhi said. “So I always have that screen to make sure, ‘okay, am I saying this authentically, or am I saying this to please someone else?'”Having this filter is important to Gandhi now, but, as mentioned earlier, it wasn't always the case. Gandhi used to be an environmental engineer consultant until he felt a pain in his stomach that just wouldn't go away. He started questioning the pain, literally.“I started kind of unconsciously, I didn't really know about this technique of asking questions to the pain, like what is the message that the pain was giving me?” Gandhi said. “I don't really know about it, but I was asking these questions to the pain, and one answer that I got was, ‘Why are you waking up every morning, 8 a.m., going to this job from 8-5, and it's something that you don't even care about that much? Like, it doesn't feel like you make much of a difference.'”Gandhi felt like there was something greater out there for him. Around the same time, he also went through a profound breakup. The breakup tore him down to the point of pushing him into opening his eyes with a spiritual awakening. He began reading “The Book of Secrets” by Deepak Chopra.“The little bit that I did pick up was this word called ‘meditation,'” Gandhi said. “Then I started researching meditation, what is meditation? Googling it, learning more about it, and finally, about a couple months later, I picked up a practice of meditating every day.”It was that meditation that enabled Gandhi to see that he is capable of changing his course.“I create everything in my life, all of the miseries in my life are my doing, and I'm creating these stories in my head, and I have a way to change it if I want to, if I choose to,” Gandhi said.Find out where Gandhi's story took him next by watching episode 121 of the Live Authentically podcast. He says that he sees where he can leverage the difference he makes in the world.“I have to have time for laughter, puns and playing with people, and some intellectual stimulation. I like innovative, unique thinkers,” Martin said.In addition to that, Martin explains how he tries to be the person who will tell people the things they don't always want to hear– the negative stuff– but in a nice way. Constructive criticism overall, and we all know this can only help us grow. Martin says his goal with telling people the negative stuff is “to say that with some heart and soul and yet still get the message across.”Martin believes that the negative stuff should be told, but in a way that invites the person to continue the conversation.“You start with the positive, then you go to the negative and then you give another option,” Martin said. “... I like that a lot because it puts the no inside of a yes. It puts the no inside of forwarding the relationship.”For Martin, forwarding the relationship is one of his life purposes with his Project Heaven on Earth, which focuses on bringing people into the sphere of seeing their own personal heaven on Earth.“I'm fascinated, Pam, by the idea of the soul's dream we have for the kind of life and work and relationship and nation and world that we want,” Martin said, “And the idea popped into my head, ‘Oh, you mean Heaven on Earth.'”For Martin, the last 30 years have been about trying to evoke the “Heaven-on-Earth-knowing” within others. He mentions how it's so much easier to focus on hell that he instead wanted to know what heaven looked like to everyone else.To learn more about Martin Rutte and Project Heaven on Earth, listen to Episode 120 of the Live Authentically podcast or visit his website here. Episode 119 of the Live Authentically podcast features Mike Kasdan, an intellectual property lawyer, professor of NYU Law and the founder of Lawyering While Human, an organization dedicated to serving law firms and schools by providing mental health and wellness services. He is also on the leadership team for The Good Men Project, a media platform created to tell stories about men in those moments of truth that all of us can find ourselves in when we have to make tough decisions in life.Kasdan says he lives authentically by being intentional about being himself, no matter the situation he's in. Although, living intentionally is not always easy for him.“You'd think it'd come naturally, because, you know, being authentic is just being yourself. But I think you have to be pretty intentional about it. And I don't think I always lived authentically every day and I probably don't every day still. It's a work in progress,” Kasdan said.Kasdan reflects back on the time when he used to compartmentalize everything, instead of trying to share all parts of him always. He says he finally stopped compartmentalizing everything once he began paying attention to the Black Lives Matter movement a couple summers ago.“That movement of the world helped me merge my Good Men Project brain-side and my lawyer brain into one whole. And when I did that, I was like, ‘Wow, this is much better. I have much better energy.' It makes an incredibly huge difference,” Kasdan said.Kasdan particularly likes to talk about mental health and wellness, too, which he says he does a lot with Lawyering While Human. He's impassioned about that also because he deals with periods of acute depression himself. In fact, it was right after he took a medical leave for work for a few months last year that he decided to be fully transparent and open about why he had to take the leave. That's something that was not easy for him due to the stigma society puts on mental health. However, after sharing that with his coworkers, Kasdan says that gave him the energy to want to start Lawyering While Human on the side.“I think by being authentic, the fear that so many people have is, ‘Someone's going to criticize that part of me, or they're going to see me as less capable business-wise,” Kasdan said. “But I think there's a baseline level of capability you want to have in your business partners, but you also want to connect with people on a human level. And I think if we're connecting on a human level about these types of issues, those are really deep, real connections.”You can watch the full episode with Mike Kasdan on the Live Authentically podcast episode 119. He has a great story to tell about his journey through a transition period that challenged who he wanted to be, and what his priorities were that got him coming out of the experience living more authentically than ever before. Before we dive into the juicy details, Pam starts off with the question she asks all of her guests: “How do you live authentically every day?”For John, it's all about zeroing in on his priorities and reminding himself of them on a daily basis. Since John has made such a big splash in the VC space, many may assume his priorities are business-related, but for him, his number one priority is his family. Whether it's spending more time with them or putting them in a better position to succeed in life, that is how he lives as his authentic self.So what was this big transition that transformed John's views on life? Well, he sold his company and ended up having to work for a private equity firm — the very firm that bought him out. He talks about having to let go of his business (his baby) and how he dealt with feeling like a “dead man walking” during that time. After that period ended, he didn't work for about a year, he shares with us how his ego took a hit and how he lost focus of where he wanted to be in life. But through that adversity came awareness.John came to a realization that he was so laser-focused on his work life and making money, that he wasn't focusing on the other things that made him happy like spending time with his family and friends. So he spent a lot of time prioritizing those things and discovered what truly mattered to him. When talking about adversity, here's what John, also a former football player, had to say:“If you don't keep your head on a swivel in football and you're not looking around, someone is going to blindside you and you're going to be knocked down on your rear end. Same goes for life. If your not paying attention with an offensive and defensive mindset, looking for opportunities, looking for threats — that's the outcome your going to get in life too.”Pam and John close up the podcast by discussing his next moves and how he is using Instagram to give out business advice to people with an entrepreneurial spirit like his. He's also writing a book that comes out later this year. You can learn more about John, Glencrest Global and more about his book by listening to the full episode, visiting his company website as well as his Instagram account. Episode 117 of the Live Authentically podcast features Susan Larkin, an alcohol awareness and addiction coach who found her calling after quitting drinking herself. Larkin says at a certain point in her life, she realized that alcohol was the thing that was keeping her from living authentically. “And one of the first things I do every morning is get up, I drink a big glass of water, and I look at myself in the mirror and I say, ‘I've got your back' to myself, because I feel like for so many years I didn't have my back,” Larkin said.Larkin reflects back to how she was drinking more than what was recommended and how that kept her in a spiral of shame and self-blame for a period of time. That's until she found a program and read the book of the same name: “This Naked Mind: Control Alcohol, Find Freedom, Discover Happiness & Change Your Life.”The program helped her break free from her addiction. “Really, it revealed all these truths to me, and that really set me free,” Larkin said.Larkin learned the science behind her addiction, and that helped her to realize she didn't have to blame herself as a person but blame the substance. Larkin was also taught how alcohol is addictive, especially when you use it as a coping mechanism.“If you're using alcohol to manage your anxiety or stress, your brain starts to think, ‘oh, this is a good thing.' And it actually starts to think you need this for survival, so it creates sort of a habit loop, or neural pathway, in your brain of, ‘This behavior is helpful to me.' So that's what really creates cravings.”The one truth from “This Naked Mind Mind: Control Alcohol, Find Freedom, Discover Happiness & Change Your Life” that resonated with Larkin is that it's not your fault and there is nothing wrong with you. Larkin believes this methodology helped to set her free. It also helped her to understand that alcohol affects every kind of person, regardless of class, race, status, etc. You can be a high-achieving woman who can set out and breeze through your goals in every other avenue of your life, but until you can change your mindset surrounding your addiction, you won't be able to get a handle on it. Learn more about Larkin and her mission as an alcohol awareness and addiction coach by watching episode 117 of the Live Authentically podcast here. Its mission is to guide individuals and families in identifying their top virtues and use them as a tool to dig deep into who they truly are, what they desire, and move them towards living as their complete authentic selves. Now, Kathy and Pamela aren't strangers — they are actually close friends who share the same overarching purpose in life: adding the value of authenticity to as many people as they can from a place of love and open-heartedness. As the discussion begins, Kathy emphasizes the importance of investing in yourself and how the influence of our upbringing, society and education can program us to have certain biases and beliefs that make us value material things over ourselves.“We are conditioned to buy $80,000 on a car that is $20,000 less as soon as we drive it off the lot, buy $400,000 homes and fill it with furniture. These things are important, but when it comes to investing in ourselves, we don't seem to have the budget.”Kathy then encourages people to consider that “you are the most important and valuable asset that you have. Without you, your health, mental health and physical health, you have nothing.“The ladies then discuss the powerful journey from the ego into the soul and the incredible moment of cognitive dissonance that led Kathy to find Think Virtues. Right out of college, Kathy got recruited into the finance industry and became successful very quickly (which she credits to years of coaching). This steered her to become the sixth highest producing female in the country, with a seven-figure income. And with all this success, she came to find that she was unhappy and empty inside, but she didn't know why. So naturally, she started doing a lot of research on what awakens the soul and how to connect with the innermost precious self. After having kids, one of her sons started coming home from school after learning about virtues; she noticed that after a month of practicing four virtues with him every day, it made a huge positive impact on their relationship. It gave them both a raised awareness of who they were and how they were affecting others around them. This transformation inspired Kathy and she realized that “Virtues are who we are. Our hearts and souls. We need to work on them, contemplate them and practice them.” She wanted to get this concept outside the walls of the classroom and share it with the world, which is how it all started. Now, Kathy works with over 300 virtues and helps individuals and families identify their top virtues and bring them to the forefront of their existence — all so they can live their most powerful, authentic lives. If you are curious to know more, listen to the full episode to dive deeper into the power of virtues and the positive ripple effect it has on the world! You can learn more about Kathy, Think Virtues and the selection of programs available by visiting her website or checking out her LinkedIn page.

However, Simon reaches far beyond those labels as he helps people truly understand themselves through mentorships and his book, The Poet & The Sage– “a work born of the mystic tradition and delivered through the art of poetry and prose.” Throughout this episode, Simon and Pamela venture into many topics, including self-discovery, applying labels upon yourself, and more. Yet, before any of that, Pamela asks the question we love most, “How do you live authentically?”Simon says that it would be tough to answer such a good question without going on too long. Still, he does his best. Simon says, “The most helpful thing that I ever did to at least begin on the road towards some sort of authenticity was actually to assume that I perhaps didn't know what it would mean to live authentically. To assume that perhaps there were parts of myself that I did not yet fully awaken. [...] And then to go on the adventure of freely exploring who I could be if I was truly living authentically.”With such an insightful answer given, it leads Pamela and Simon to start discussing his book in more detail. He tells us what the creation of his book genuinely meant to him– beyond what you might be able to see on the surface level. And he gives us some insight into the journey he was taken on while weaving those pages together, revealing a lot about himself and how he chooses to live authentically. Simon and Pamela go on to discuss the process of opening the flood gates of creativity and stepping into who you are as a person. In addition to the importance of understanding the labels placed on us, either by ourselves or others. They then delve into other conversations about sitting in the theater of life and embodying stoicism. Later, towards the end of the episode, Simon gives us some real-world advice on living an examined life that even Socrates would endorse. If you want to hear the other conversations that Simon and Pamela had throughout this episode and more about the topics that we've mentioned, please watch this episode in its entirety! You can also catch up on everything that Simon Drew offers by visiting The Walled Garden, where you can find The Walled Garden podcast, information about the cofounders of the garden and find his book The Poet & The Sage.

Episode 113 of the Live Authentically podcast is all about Christina Lopes, a former clinician who is now a healer, life coach and spiritual teacher. Her goal in her work is to bridge science and spirituality to help others heal from significant trauma, open their hearts and lead fulfilling lives.Lopes says the way in which she lives authentically is by checking in with herself every morning. She talks about trauma and how most people who have it are disconnected from their bodies. She believes that in order to live authentically, you have to learn how to connect back to your body and the way it is feeling. “Just being able to sit down and close my eyes, and sometimes I'll even apply pressure to my body–that's a good way of grounding into your body. Other times, I'll just sit and ask my body how it's feeling,” Lopes said.Disconnection from your body can lead to disconnection from your emotions. Lopes speaks about a time in her life when she was seeing a clinician who could tell by her body language that she was angry. Lopes says that she couldn't tell for herself that she was angry because she was disconnected from the way her body feels.Disconnection from your emotions makes it harder to heal your trauma. Lopes says you need to name, identify and sit with the emotions you're feeling to help yourself heal. She states that most people disconnect from the emotions that feel terrible in the body when they have them as a protection mechanism.“People unconsciously repress emotions because they don't think they have the tools or the ability to heal or transmute them or work with them,” Lopes said.Once her clients have the ability to allow complicated emotions to rise to the surface, Lopes says she teaches her clients how to be alchemists. Lopes calls herself the “heart alchemist.”“You grab those emotions [like anger] and you say ‘I'm an alchemist. An alchemist never wastes energy. Episode 112 is kicked off with Adam Hergenrother! Adam is an entrepreneur at heart, who is the Founder & CEO of the thriving organization Adam Hergenrother Companies that has been voted the best place to work in Vermont an impressive five times! His other work enables many of us to join two seemingly opposing forces–business and spirituality. Armed with the question that stumps many people, Pam asks Adam how he lives authentically. Adam answers the question profoundly. “[Living authentically] Really, ultimately means just aligning yourself with who it is that you truly are–beyond the egoic level of consciousness.[...] It's beyond what you're doing in the world. It's the experience that you're having in life.” He says that for him, at least, it's about accepting that he is “perfectly not perfect.” He believes in “tasting life directly, which means removing yourself from the conscious velcroing of the mind.”Later on in the episode, we transition into a conversation on something that Adam is very familiar with–the merging of business and spirituality. Specifically, Pam asks Adam about grappling with his own sense of self-worth and then building his business empire. From there, he gives us two insightful tales about his life and the moments where he felt that he could either accept a situation or do something and change it. He tells us about a simple interaction at the dinner table with his mother that blew away his preconceived notions about what was truly worth a lot in life. He goes on to talk about the massive impact that spirituality and the right mindset can have on how you conduct business as a whole and even how you deal with a business situation that didn't work in your favor–a discussion that can prove extremely insightful for leaders everywhere. Towards the end of episode 112, Pam asks Adam specifically how he works with companies to instill a commitment to growth within their organization? Adam says, “Number one, it starts with me coming in,” and “We try to bring in that hey, it looks like you're a little velcroed to that thought right now. What would it look like if you weren't?” He goes on to tell us that even something as simple as a quick break in a meeting can relieve tension and break those thoughts that many people get velcroed on, which is just what a lot of organizations need at the moment. If you're interested in hearing all of the conversations from this episode and the real, unfiltered answers from Adam, listen to the podcast! The author of “Fats that heal, fats that kill,” Erasmus's message on how to achieve perfect health has impacted over 10 million lives. In the first podcast with Erasmus, he goes over how to practice awareness and be present in the world while discussing the philosophy behind personal choices, freedom and world peace. In this second part of the episode, Erasmus covers his health products, fats and oils. The podcast starts with how Erasmus believes low-fat diets are bad for the body and the skin. He talks about how the body needs those fats and oils to survive. Signs you're not eating enough fat are dry skin and lower energy. He transitions into how knowing this information gave him the inspiration to “create oils with health in mind, instead of shelf life,” he said. Erasmus says that many of the oils you see on the shelf contain damaged molecules from the extra additives put in them. He explains how this can be detrimental to your health in the future.Erasmus goes over how you can use his oils to get soft, smooth skin. He recommends using a tablespoon of his oils per 50 pounds of body weight per day. Erasmus stresses that you should never fry it. “If you fry the oil, the oil will fry your health,” he said. Instead, add the oil to vegetables, meats or other foods after cooking it.Besides using his oils, Erasmus says people should incorporate seeds and nuts, in general, into their diets, because this is where much of the omega-6 fatty acids our bodies need come from. He states that it is healthier to get your omega-6 from seeds and nuts directly than from the oils on the shelf. Erasmus also recommends other food choices such as berries for getting enough omega-3 fatty acids. For those who are looking to shift into healthier eating, Erasmus points to fats as being “the issue that is most neglected and causes the most problems.” He says that damaged oils cause most health problems more than any other area of nutrition. The health benefits your body needs come from shifting into using the proper oils and fats it needs.Erasmus also says that digestion is another factor people need to consider when eating healthy. “Having a strong digestive system is more conducive to survival and thriving than having a smart brain,” he said. People should add raw foods or oils to their diets to replenish the healthy enzymes that are eliminated when food is cooked. They should also add probiotics to keep the good bacteria working in their gut.You can find Erasmus's oils, Udo's Choice, in many natural health food stores. In addition, you can also buy it on Amazon and on Udo's website.

Paul guides many leaders, business professionals and whole organizations in growth, change and transformation processes. Paul and Pam begin this episode of the podcast– the right way– with the question, “How do you live authentically?” To that question, Paul tells us how he strives to live authentically by being as present as possible, in every moment of every day. He says that it is about embracing whatever comes his way– whether that be a very good mood or something on the other side of the spectrum.Paul tells us that when he finds himself in a mood less than ideal, he tries to find the source or cause of it, which is enormously aided by being entirely open and honest with himself– something that he heavily encourages for everyone.  After more questions about exactly how Paul got on the path of self-improvement and understanding himself, we move on to a more in-depth discussion about the journey that led Paul to where he is today. A part of that discussion brings us to the topic of family systems– specifically how investigating your own family can lead to insight into yourself and what the next more you should make is. Midway through the episode– Paul gives us some real-life examples of times that he has helped give people the perspective they need to see beyond a specific symptom or problem. These examples can give us new insight into how we view our own problems, and perhaps, they may help us zoom out with some perspective. However, these examples aren't just individual specific. Paul continues to give examples of how organizations can benefit as well. Concluding our podcast, Pam and Paul talk about some of the “tricks of the trade” that Paul uses to help people get out of a circle of constantly overthinking. Those tricks range from first, accepting that your mind is racing and you're overthinking, then all the way to feeling the warmth in your bed. If you're interested in learning more words of wisdom from Paul, you can visit his website here. He is a serial entrepreneur and founder of The Breathe Collective, who found himself searching for a way to balance life. Through that search, he found himself in a deep exploration of the Wim Hof Method, traveling the world while scaling mountains along the way. This episode with Ries begins with our standard question– the one that matters. When Pam asks Reis, “How do you live authentically?”. To best answer that question, Reis starts us off with a walkthrough of the typical start to his day. Telling us about the breathwork that he does and all the other ways that he stays in touch with himself– and with his current state of being. Including inviting himself to participate in doses of stress, such as an ice bath or cold shower. He says that in doing so, he gives himself “space” to work with throughout the rest of the day. That leads Pam to her next question, “Who is breathwork for?” to that Reis has a simple yet insightful response– “Breathwork is for Everyone.”He goes on to say that “Our breath is the first thing that we do when we come into this world, and it's the last thing that we do when we leave our bodies.” He explains his stance and gives many insights as to why breathwork is, in fact, for everyone– even for those that do not think so. Later, midway through the podcast, Pam asks Reis about his business. He discusses the origins of The Breathe Collective– that he founded with his good friends after they were all doing workshops and retreats separately. He goes on to explain his intentions behind founding The Breathe Collective and the gap in help for many people when it comes to breathing work. After many other insightful discussions, Pam and Reis begin to wrap up this episode of Live Authentically with a conversation about seemingly simple things that can lead to climbing mountains in the future– ice baths. Episode 108: Live Authentically sits down with Tim Desmond, a psychotherapist, and author who studied under the late Zen Master Thich Nhat Hahn. Throughout the episode, Pamela Savino and Desmond discuss the importance that self-compassion and mindfulness play in living a most authentic life. Desmond grew up in Boston with a single, alcoholic mother and experienced homelessness in spurts throughout his adolescent years. Per Desmond, the only reason he was able to go to college was due to athletic scholarships, which thankfully led him on the path to meeting his mediation teacher. Upon reading Peace Is Every Step by Nhat Hahn, Desmond found himself diving headfirst into the world of mindfulness and not looking back. Today, he lives his truth through the practices of his teacher. A question Desmond tries to ask himself daily is, “how can I engage with life in the way I want to?” And for him, this means incorporating a heightened sense of mindfulness to even the most mundane task, like turning on a faucet. He does so with Buddhist Gathas, verses that foster miraculous intention. In the Vietnamese Zen tradition, adding meditative awareness to the present moment is a way of showing yourself self-compassion that otherwise slips away too easily. Throughout the episode, Savino asks how Desmond's work and business tie into his mindfulness practices. As an author of three books—the most recent being “How to Stay Human in a F*cked Up World”—he's done more than establish himself within the academic field. But beyond his writing and teaching of mediation, Desmond has pushed the boundaries of therapy and counseling by honing in on the idea of compassion alone. As Nhat Hahn taught him, compassion is what transforms suffering. The idea struck Desmond nearly three years ago, in the midst of his training others. While teaching was something he undoubtedly loved, he wanted to make compassion more accessible than through self-training. Ultimately, he explains how this led to the creation of Peer Collective, an online peer counseling service that, in Desmond's words, provides “an abundant amount of empathy and compassion.” Throughout the development and success of Peer Collective, Desmond has confirmed that it's not so much about a counselor's academic training so much as it's about their warmth and ability to understand someone in distress; that “whatever someone says is their way of asking for love.” understanding that is the first step in transforming your vibrations as well as those around you. For more on Tim Desmond, visit his website here.

An author of two books, “Winning in the Middle of the Pack” and “Cycle of Lives,” he uses this newfound athleticism as a means to connect people on a similarly challenging path.  The episode begins with the quintessential question, what does it mean to live authentically? To which Richman swiftly replies, “living authentically is really understanding who you are and being at peace with that so you can connect with [...] your place in the greater scheme of things.”Richman goes on to explain how he found his place, and it started off dark. There he was, in his late thirties and trapped in a violent marriage, desperate to get his twin children out for their own safety and sake. Leading a sedentary lifestyle and a constant smoker, Richman was on his way to an “aha” moment after a prolonged glance in the mirror. Who was he, really? The alarm bells sounded in a short amount of time for Richman. After escaping a toxic relationship, he was able to embrace self-awareness for the first time in many years and didn't like what he saw: a man looking to fix everything but himself. Then everything changed following a call from his sister; she had terminal brain cancer, and as Richman was starting a journey to finding himself, his loved one was on a journey to the other side. For him, that was motivation enough to change for the better. “You gotta do this,” he says. “You gotta try to live a good life because maybe everybody doesn't get a chance to.” Throughout the episode, he emphasizes the process of living authentically as a journey. It's about finding your purpose and accepting it tenfold, staying true to yourself once you learn who you are. As someone who used to constantly look to others for validation, Richman found breaking such patterns to be quite the challenge—but a welcomed one at that. Ultimately, the news about his sister and the changes Richman was making in his lifestyle and mindset led him on another journey, culminating in “Cycle of Lives,” which recently debuted on Audible. Over the course of two years, he biked across the country and met with fifteen strangers, each of whom shared how working through their traumas has led to living an authentic life. The end result is always a higher vibration, compassion, and empathy. For more on Richman's events and books, visit his website here.

He jokingly said he “checks in to see if I'm still there because if I'm not there, there's no point in getting up.” He explains how heartache brings us back to ourselves, to life and to awareness, and that it is always a work in progress. We must constantly fight to come back to ourselves in deep reflection throughout our life. We must think before we act.Erasmus also focuses on the importance of life's choices. He talks about how life is a balance of chaos outside of us and stability within us, and that within us, we can choose. He believes that choice is the definition of peace and gives us freedom. However, he said, “there is no freedom without responsibility.” The interview moves into how Erasmus could design a framework to achieve world peace. Erasmus states that it is fundamentally an individual project based on the way we choose to behave, live and think. He says that when we are in an internal state of peace, we have no reason to harm. “You can't build a world of peace from conflict in your mind,” Erasmus said. He explains that we have to find a way back to ourselves, a way back to home and to find our inner peace. We have to get inside of stillness and deep into the darkness that surfaces as we close our eyes to find the light.Erasmus continues the interview with a conversation about how we should aim to be and experience life like the masters and great teachers of the world such as Buddha and Jesus Christ. He states that these masters only had one law, and that law is love. The interview ends with a discussion on how often people are “human doings,” not human beings. Erasmus stresses how we think that we get our fulfillment from doing, but that's not the case. He delves into the topic of his most recent book, talking about how his brother committed suicide and how he processes that trauma and the feelings of shame. The topic also touches on overall trauma, how no one has control over whether or not they have it, how many people don't realize they have trauma, and how to rethink your thoughts and internal dialogue so that you can combat it. Dr. Conti goes over other real-life, everyday examples of trauma, such as having a different gender identity and expression than what is acceptable by society at large. He mentions how trauma changes the brain, turning it into a place of higher vigilance. Dr. Conti also talks about how trauma affects everyday life without people realizing it. Trauma can change sleep, stress levels, mood, anxiety levels and behavioral choices. However, the episode doesn't solely focus on the bad of trauma but also on how someone can be transformed in the healing process by seeking treatment for it. Medicines can help treat trauma over time by increasing sleep, improving mood and decreasing anxiety. Besides medicine, talking and exploring how the traumatic situation made you feel in support groups, with friends or family, or with a counselor also can help.“Empowerment is the enemy of trauma,” Dr. Conti says and explores in this episode. He talks about how trauma tries to tell people that their cupboards are bare and there is nothing left, even when that is not true, and how that affects the overall body.To learn more, watch this episode and read his book.

Developing that spiritual growth allows us to listen to our thoughts and not feel overwhelmed by them.Dr. Yahia then talks about the 12 Truths. The truth of thoughts, desire, emotion and breath, intuition, intellect and instinct and so on. Each of these truths are interdependent of each other. So how do you achieve a step up on the spiritual ladder? Dr. Yahia answered that you have to ask yourself where you are at the current position, where you were when you were at that position, and where you will be when you get to that position. That's where you get to judgment is a confession. You're essentially looking at your own reflection. Everyone of us has a certain intuition that tells us something is wrong or that we should be pursuing a thought. This intuition could be your gut. It could be the word of God. Or it could be something else that tells you if something is off. Dolores Hirschmann's intuition is her stomach ache and tightness in her chest. When Dolores notices this feeling in her, she sees this as a message to pay attention and get curious. She tries to figure out what the message is. What is her body telling her?Dolores used to live fast with the to-do list she has on her daily. She practices everyday what her goal and her intention is. To do that she check's in first and then does what she needs to do. She tries to check-in with herself. Checking in with oneself is a good first step into knowing what our goal is. What our intention is. Over time Dolores has learned that her gut is the strongest, faithful, and smartest part of her. Meaning her body reacts when she is not aligned with the truth. Alignment. What does that look like? As Dolores defined, alignment is to be able to be present in the moment. As Pamela and Dolores dive deeper into their conversation, vulnerability becomes the word of the moment. What is vulnerability? Why should you make yourself vulnerable? Simply put, Dolores believes that vulnerability is not seen as the absence of fear. Rather it's courage to be able to bring down the facade and put yourself in a place where you don't know the outcome but the experience is worth it. It's easy to think that we can all be vulnerable but the truth of the matter is that we're not always letting ourselves be vulnerable. One could think if it's even worth letting ourselves be vulnerable. Why would someone want to put themselves in that position? To be connected. In broader terms, connection requires vulnerability. No spoilers, we promise! How does one tap into their intuition? How do we let the universe take control and do its thing so we can get what we long for? Watch as Pamela and Dolores discuss the ideas of why vulnerability is something we need to do, why we should trust our intuition, whatever that may be, and how to let our subconscious stop from making the decision for us.

It may sound like  a dark and scary idea, but to live everyday as if it were your last… it is a genius way to really make you think, “What would I do?” So what was the catalyst in Kandis' life that made her take a turn towards authenticity? A former employee from a private medical company working a 9-5 job wasn't fulfilling Kandis. Internally she felt unfulfilled and working a regular 9 to 5 job was not the life for her. Kandis wanted to travel, specifically to Thailand. Traveling to Thailand had become just a dream, but what was really stopping her from going? Ego. Her ego was telling her that she couldn't travel because of all the reasons that her mind had given her. An interesting perspective to look at is you wake up to what you choose. Every day and every moment we have a choice that brings us towards what we want to do or away from. A guy Kandis had met online was the reason why she decided enough was enough. Although they only met once for a date, it took one person to really impact the way she chose to live her life. Fast forward to 18 months, Kandis sold her apartment, packed her things up and Thailand had become her home for 5 years. A few months turned into 5 years! How you choose to live your life should be your decision. Kandis pointed out that we have the power to create what truly lights us up. Ego is noise that you choose to believe or choose to change. Fear, in Kandis' view, is often a sign of something you really have to do. It might not always turn out the way you hoped it would, but at least you tried. Allow yourself to dream. Don't be afraid to try something you've been wanting to do. Your life, your choice, your dream.

How do you live authentically? What does living authentically look like to you? Victoria Gallagher, an expert on living authentically, starts her day by waking up every day at 5 or 6 in the morning. Her daily morning routine kick starts with her morning meditation and then hypnosis. How does this help Victoria? Meditation and hypnosis helps to set her intention for the day, what the day is going to be about, and how she wants to be. Victoria is always in a place of growing and working on herself because when you work on yourself it provides a context for others. You set intentions for people to be authentic and vulnerable to work on themselves. She advocates in being more true to herself and speaking truth and speaking her word. This podcast is the perfect guidance and toolkit when personal growth and growing with your significant other is part of your values. We have to learn to detach from outcomes and not force things that are not meant for us. Or as Pamela and Victoria put it into great terms, “Letting the chips fall where they may.” The main features of this podcast brings light to detachment, trust, vulnerability, and relationships. How do you detach? How do you know when you're too attached to something? Victoria explains that detachment has been a big theme. When you're attached to anything, that is the exact reason why you, or we, don't have the things that we want. This creates resistance in having what you want. You start losing control of yourself and your reality. Sounds easier said than done right? This is where you have to trust. Trust the process. A great mantra to follow, “Let go, trust, and continue to visualize the reality you want.”What about all that chatter in your mind? Are there times where you feel like you may be losing control of yourselves from certain thoughts? Victoria has the solution for that. Take time to meditate. Focus on one word or a mantra. Focus on your breathing or the sensations running through your body. Focus on something that works for you. Listen to Pamela and Victoria tackle the battles of detachment, the benefits of being vulnerable, and how you can grow your relationship with your partner. If you need a little push, this is the push you need. Whether you're currently in the pursuit of self-growth or need somewhere to start your journey, you're in the right place. Let the universe take control. Be 100% present to right now.

Geoff Fitch is the creator of Pacific Integral, a transformative climate advocacy that begins in January 2022. He has worked as a life coach, therapist, teacher and facilitator for 20 years. In this episode, we discuss life experiences, shifting into who we really are, and why fear is the fuel behind growth. Geoff says the key to living authentically is truthfulness. He works hard to be truthful with himself, with others and with life. He has spent years fine tuning things in his life that are in alignment, and those that are not. Earlier in his life, Geoff worked as a manager in the engineering technology world. Major life events happened that forced him to shift into who he really is. He was always interested in the bigger picture – what we are doing here, what this world really is, etc. The seeds for his life were planted early, but he had to accept change in order to grow. He shifted into this work and realigned his life to live from a deeper purpose. The universe makes circumstances for us to act as opportunities so we see the world in new lenses. When you look back and connect the dots, it really does leave clues to what we are really here to do. Geoff says that there is a process of waking up and evolving and becoming a higher being - a more awake, conscious, ethical, loving person. When the conditions are right it naturally flourishes in people. In his experience, the more you get to know someone, there is a natural expression of our evolving nature. “I like to listen to people and listen to those impulses and witness it – we are here to express our higher nature,” he says. We spent a lot of time discussing the importance of fear. Geoff says that you have to step into what's next. There is a natural time for change. Respect the fear because change does have an impact and it takes time to come into it. Going through the process takes time. It can be really helpful to understand change and talk to people who have been through it and how they navigated it. Our culture is not set up to help us go through growth. We have this old narrative that says we have to go to school, go through marriage, have kids, and have a career through it all, and then retire. The framework for adult development is not always accurate for reality. We need to be taught that we don't have to fear the fear. The fear is meat to help us grow and evolve. What is the worst that can happen? Fear is just made up. Fear is actually fuel. Check out Geoff's work at http://www.pacificintegral.com and https://www.facebook.com/pacificintegral.

In this episode, we talk with Brian Ondrako, owner of Just Get Started LLC. He empowers people to “just get started” by navigating a path to happiness. Brian says that living authentically today is different than how it was years ago. Brian grew up in the 90's and back then, life was all about staying in line with society and not breaking away from the crowd. He had this vision for his life that was focused on not breaking from any norms. But he discovered that in order to be happy, he had to break away from the norms. He wanted to be better to the world, and in doing so, the world is now better to him. Brian recognizes that he used to feel trapped. He wasn't happy and he wanted to impact the world in a new, different way, but he just didn't know how. He wasn't leaning into his true self because he thought he wouldn't be successful when he broke away from the crowd. Throughout his whole life, he was taught to go to work, collect money for retirement, and wait for retirement to live the experiences he always dreamed about. But there was always a voice in the back of his head telling him to break free from this lifestyle. Life is a short ride, and Brian discovered that the ride will be better if you are who you are. To Brian, happiness means the freedom to make choices. If he wants to do something, then is going to do it, and he wants the ability to make this choice. He doesn't want others making his decisions for him. He doesn't want a job in which someone tells him where he has to be at what time of the day, and what his responsibilities are. He wants to make all his choices in life, and that is what happiness means to him. Brian also touches on the importance of goal setting. He says you should always aim for the north star – the big goal – and although you may never get there, the energy that takes you in that direction is what's going to get you to your goals. Shifting to get to a goal is what is truly important, not necessarily getting to the goal itself. You should always aim big but be prepared for more important things along the way. Check out Brian's work at http://www.brianondrako.com and  https://www.linkedin.com/in/brianondrako/You can also visit him on Instagram @brianondrako.

Christy Whitman is an in-demand life coach, transformational leader, CEO, and founder of the Quantum Success Coaching Academy, a twelve-month Law of Attraction coaching certification program. She is also a New York Times bestselling author. In this episode, we talk with Christy about living authentically, manifesting what we want and using our energy to transform our lives. Christy says that it is natural for her to live authentically every day. She has worked on her personal growth over the years, and she feels very connected with her own energy. She knows that the only thing she has an effect on is what she says, what actions she takes, and her habits. She used to fight against herself and was focused on being something to someone, but now she is not trying to be anything but herself. We spent some time discussing Christy's book, “The Art of Having it All.” Christy says that manifestation is everything, and when you have a thought or desire, that thought or desire has the potential in you to birth something. We have to look at every aspect of our lives – bodies, wellness, finances, careers, hobbies, creative expression, relationships. The idea of having it all changes as we age, and our desires flow as we flow. By denying ourselves our desires, we aren't going to be in alignment with our potential. The shift from lack to abundance is the first step in manifesting what we want. On the spectrum of life, there is lack, and that is where fear, doubt, disappointment, sadness, and all the negative emotions are. On the other side of the spectrum is abundance, and that is where success, passion, love, freedom, joy, and all positive emotions are. You need to get into alignment with abundance. Lack always feels bad, and abundance feels good. Words that we say and thoughts that we think create momentum for us, and we begin to believe the things we say and think. If you continue with a negative thought, you will keep manifesting it, and it will become true. By choosing a different thought – one that is positive and in alignment with abundance – we manifest a better reality for ourselves. We must train our minds to become aware of our thoughts. We must be aware of our negativity in order to shift into a more positive reality. Check out Christy's work at christywhitman.com or follow her on Instagram @christywhitman1.

She is a therapist, holistic life coach, author, podcaster, motivational speaker, and creator of the Adult Chair, a transformational mode of self-realization that helps people across the globe discover who they are. She helps people to become who they truly are and to develop deep self-love.  One of Michelle's missions and passions is to live authentically every day. She does her very best and strives to be present to speak up with clarity and with truth in her daily life. She spends time doing a lot of inner personal work so her outside life isn't negatively affected by her inner life.  Michelle has always been a seeker. She has always been drawn to spirituality and energy medicine.  She had a breakthrough when she was in her 20s and watching an episode of Oprah, when Dr. Phil was a guest and he told someone in the audience that she really had to “love herself.” “I remember thinking, but how do I do that?” says Michelle. This is when she decided to step into her true self and to learn more about who she really is. Self-love is a lifestyle – there isn't a manual. As women, we often put ourselves last,, and we are a mother, a wife, and a caretaker first and foremost. While those roles are part of who we are, we must tend to our inner selves as well, otherwise we will lose ourselves. Michelle developed the Adult Chair, a lifestyle model that puts authenticity and self-love first. We often don't know how to be emotionally healthy adults, and we need to learn how. We need to set boundaries, and we need to pay attention to what is going on inside of us. The foundation for healing is working with our inner child. So much wisdom is our inner children, along with our true emotions, and most of us don't know what those are. We don't know what our needs are, we are distracted, and we are void of our own needs when we are mothers and caretakers. True needs, and passions are going to come out when you reconnect with that part of yourself. Get to know yourself, and everything starts to change. Self-love isn't a linear concept; it is a spiritual act. As you grow, remember to tame that inner critic. Don't let that voice keep you down. Hone in on that healthy adult voice that you have inside of you, the one that pushes you forward and never doubts you.  Connect with Michelle at theadultchair.com.

Ann Betz shares with us an important phrase that immediately comes to mind when she hears this question. As she answers this question, she talks about using the idea of consciousness and neuroscience to be a better person. We then get into discussing our ego and how its crucial that we recognize and celebrate it. We also go deeper into the importance of vulnerability and speaking your truth, even if it means taking a risk. We must trust that it will be the step closer to alignment and authenticity. Ann even talks about understanding your chakras and how it ties in with that. She also gets into how you can strengthen your ability to be an observer and look at things from a different perspective. Later in the podcast, we talk about toxicity and how we must distance ourselves from it and the people that carry it. We then touch brief on the education system, and the lack of more essential-to-life subjects that should be taught in school. We talk about how our mindset, and understanding it, is an important thing to learn and how it should be taught in the educational system. As parents, it's important that we teach our children this ourselves, so that they start learning it early on in life. Towards the end of this podcast, we talk deeply about emotions and the importance of expressing them. Ginny Whitelaw is a Zen Master, and she knows that the mind and the body are connected as one. She taught leadership development for over 25 years and her passions ultimately led her to where she is now. She strives to be authentic every single day. Today, we talk to Ginny about her experiences, her career path, and how helping people is the ultimate goal in life. According to Ginny, Zen opens up the authentic self. It is so vital to embrace vulnerability, because feeling things is what aids us in feeling connected to the world around us. Pulling back to hide from reality is human, but when the mind and body is one, the hiding places go away – there is nowhere to run, and we must embrace feeling and growing. Ginny's role as Zen Leader comes with a lot of responsibility. Ginny explains that our subjective experience and ego can give us the experience of being only part of what is going on in life, which is an illusion – we are actually connected more deeply than we will ever know. To penetrate this illusion of only being “part of” something is freeing to the mind, and that is pure medicine. As long as we are separate, we will have fear. We start to see the ego as a tool rather than a tyrant. That is what Zen opens us up to – resolving that sense of separation so we can resolve the fear and experience this precious life we have and use it to help people. We all take on leadership roles in our daily lives, whether we are aware of that or not. We all deal with coping with life, versus embracing it, and pushing away versus accepting change. That orientation is in the mind and body of all of us – how we take it. When we are coping with it, we are partially resisting what is going on. We have these negative emotions that develop as a result. We feel a victim of circumstance, because life can be so unfair. Acceptance relaxes the body, and it is then that our energy can start flowing. It will start flowing towards our purpose. We physically conduct energy in our body, and if you just put that into leadership, it puts you in the right direction. It is in that flip that we are able to take situations as they come. It doesn't matter what I like – I accept it. Check out Ginny's work at www.zenleader.global.

How do you live authentically every day? Today's episode has a very special guest. Uncustomary England is a merriment maker, spreading joy to those around her and teaching others to do the same. Her work goes way beyond what the average person might describe as joy – she teaches others the importance of creating your own authentic reality, and how creating that reality is going to fuel the joy that you can bring to those around you. In this episode, we talk to Uncustomary about her work and learn how merriment making has become a huge part of her life. When creating your own authentic reality, every little detail matters, especially the words you use in your daily life. Uncustomary talks about the energy that certain words bring to the table, and how the casual use of words can be harmful to the value they have in our lives. When we use words in a flighty way, we devalue them for people who find them to be empowering. For example, women inherently are always apologizing for themselves and putting their comfort second to someone else's. So, instead of saying “I'm sorry for being late” say, “Thank you for your patience.” This way, the phrase you speak is. Much more positive and you aren't casually throwing around the word “sorry” when it's not necessary. Uncustomary also touches on the pressure that today's society puts on young people to become entrepreneurs and to build brands and websites. Of course, if this is something you feel aligned to do, by all means, do it. However, it is important to note that not all of your passions have to be turned into a money-making act. Turning everything you love into something that makes money can be toxic and can actually drag you away from that activity, which is something you once loved. It is absolutely vital in life to make time for play that does not involve money making. The word “play” often has a negative connotation for adults – we think of it as being immature or irresponsible and that is totally not true. Any play that you are doing is what comes naturally to you, and you have been good at it since the day you were born. You need this play activity to fuel yourself in other areas of your life. Play is an essential part of life for all humans, no matter how old. You can find Uncustomary at her website, uncustomary.org or on Instagram at @uncustomarylove. Thank you for listening!

In the past, Liz used to hide her authenticity as she was challenging with stress, emotions and dramatic experiences at the time.  She was cut off from her authentic nature by denial and suppression. However, through the course of her healing, she soon found that it brought her back in touch with her authenticity. Now, each day her focus is to connect with herself and one other person in a heartfelt way. This helps her stay in touch with what's most important to her.  We then get into the connections we have with other people and how we meaningfully connect with them through our conversations. Liz explains how she first connects with herself to ensure she's grounded and present so that she's truly able to connect with the other person's whole being. From there, she goes further into detail about how she truly connects with someone.  Liz also gets into depth about the importance of allowing and putting forth the necessary actions to move forward. She shares with us how she had to create a balance of having an intention of which direction she would like to go and allowing herself to see what opens up, and where she could move.  She talks about how life rarely moves on the linear path our minds think it will move on, and how that's the flow of creation. Allowing the reality of things to unfold creates the possibility of noticing synchronicities. Liz says that it allows us to recognize that we do need a balance of moving forward and being receptive.  This led us into discussing very helpful and healthy stress management techniques. Liz advises us to decide which of our habits are not helpful then implementing the habits that are. She explains how sensational touches can help keep us stable and grounded.  She also mentions how obtaining more sleep, movement in exercise, social connections and a healthy diet can help manage day-to-day stress. It was around that time, 19 years ago, Brianna decided that the labels and limitations of her medical team did not align with what she believed to be possible for her life.  From that point on, everything began to change. Leaning Into Who She Is  - No FiltersBrianna attributes the successful change in her life to the fact that she leans into who she is. Rocky explains how it's crucial to first define who you are and what you want from life, then live in alignment with that. We then go into the significance of creating a life plan in order to live an authentic life. In Rocky's simple life plan, he starts with a eulogy and comes to terms with how he wants the world to view him. He then works backwards from there for every single part of his life, and defines what that looks like. He states that defining what you want and knowing it makes it easier to live an authentic life. Later in this podcast Rocky provides two quick and simple tips we can do to begin our path of living an authentic life. He recommends us very helpful books that can inspire and support us in creating a life plan. In today's podcast, I talk with coach and speaker David Wood about his authentic life and how he lives it. He first starts with the importance of honesty and expressing your feelings. He says that being true to himself and others, while expressing his true self is how he lives authentically. He then gives some insight into a scenario where he had to use honesty. He feels that despite the risk and consequences honesty may come with, it's all worth it for the peace of mind and body. He shares with us his job and how it lead to him discovering personal growth and authenticity, which then led to him leaving his job to go into coaching. He was very excited about what he had discovered and how he could change someone's life overnight just by coaching them. He explains how the first half of his life was all about numbers, systems and business, and the second half was a deep dive into emotional intimacy, vulnerability, leadership and influence. He had to bring those two worlds together and work with people on numbers as well as their life, which brought him to his business, Focus.ceo. He makes sure his clients are living a life they are fully proud of so that in the future they can look back with no regrets, knowing they gave it their everything. To begin that process of helping people awaken to the idea that there's more to reality than constant perfection every day, he has them accomplish two steps. He feels the first step is to accept that we're conditioned. He believes that we're conditioned with the need to doing all the work alone and overworking ourselves in the process. The second is to become committed to living outside your condition. With this, you will live differently from everyone else. Later in the podcast, we briefly touch on the topic of the subconscious and how the majority of our lives are run by them. We then get a deeper look into David Wood's work as he shares with us one of the things he loves most about coaching, and one of the most challenging aspects of it. David Wood lives his life authentically in such a way that you'll want to hear more and learn from it in this podcast today. Listen now!

In this episode of Live Authentically, we hear from Theresa Tirk, AKA the Ritual Queen. Theresa is a Certified Aromatherapist and Spiritual Mom Coach who helps women awaken to their strengths through daily spiritual and self-care rituals. It was Theresa's own journey that brought her to this path of helping other women. Three years ago, she was in a dark place and couldn't see her way out. Aromatherapy was the beginning of her healing, followed by the creation of daily rituals that brought her to a safer, healthier place. What came out of that experience for Theresa was the importance of knowing that she mattered and needed to make herself a priority. Theresa realized that everyone in her life benefits when she is at her best. Being at her best means being fulfilled, recharged and energized. The Concept of EnergyTheresa shares that energy is everything. Energy is all around us, and it moves freely. We bring energy to every interaction, and it sets the tone for that interaction. It's not realistic for us to think we have to be positive every single moment of every single day. But we must acknowledge when we're not in a good place so we can work through it. This way, we don't have to continue living in that negative space.Finding Joy in the OrdinaryTheresa admits that it was 30 years of living silently, being what everyone else wanted her to be, that led her to a state of depression. All of her life she had been a people pleaser. That was how she functioned, giving little regard to her emotions or feelings. And one day, it all erupted. It was finally taking time for herself, taking care of herself through daily rituals, that saved her. Now she's able to find joy in the ordinary. To that end, she's learned that being true to who she is, without worrying about what others think, is the key to her authenticity. She no longer seeks validation from others; she finds validation within herself. In this episode, Theresa weighs in on how important it is to understand the role energy plays in your life and how it contributes to being authentic. She also shares five simple things you can do daily that are life-changers.If you're dealing with a lot, feeling lost or just overwhelmed with life and the demands put on you from day to day, you have to check out this talk with the Ritual Queen. To learn more about the Ritual Queen, check out her social media here.

In today's podcast, we talk with Owen Hunt as he explains to us how he intersects his two worlds of comedy and spirituality. Not only has this impacted his life but has resulted in him living in a way that is true to himself. He begins explaining to us the significance of creating a flexible routine before starting your day and even during the day. Owen spends his mornings doing some gratitude practice as he lies in bed thinking of positive thoughts to reawaken his mind and body. Owen believes that alternating your morning routine is also essential. Instead of doing the same things every day, he switches it up from activities like reading and drawing to exercises like walking or running. He says that doing this gives him personal time for breathing or listening to music to help keep him grounded and less overwhelmed.Owen then gives some insight into how he incorporates humor into his spiritual journey. He explains how he began having the two worlds completely separate when he first got into comedy. Owen gets into the aspect of comedy where he believes laughing and humor are great for minimizing stress. He views himself as more of a practical person. Owen has worked with many spiritual things and has come to realize that joking and finding the humor in this helps dissolve tension and minimize its influence over us.Robert Anton Wilson is one of Owen's biggest influencers as he also uses humor in most of his work. He says that presenting his work the way he does makes it less of a judgment and stigma, and more of an exploration of questioning who they are. Inspired by Robert's work, Owen discusses how he wants to inspire people to think with comedy instead of provoking the thought. Owen later gives us a look into his life of stand-up comedy and the challenges he faces, along with his different on-stage experiences. He then explains in-depth what keeps him going in life, and how failure only pushed him further to success. Owen Hunt is a producer, comedian, author and more! And in this podcast, we get to hear the authentic aspects of his life and successes. For more information about Owen Hunt, visit his website today.

Murray Guest has been an accredited Team Management Profile facilitator since 2007 and through that effort, he has helped hundreds of leaders and team members develop a greater understanding of their own strengths. He's also a super-inspired guest on today's podcast episode. Be inspired as we talk about life, in particular, being authentic, our strengths, and the gift of appreciation. We Have to Take Stock in Who We AreMurray shares that integrity is important in how we live. We need to be okay with who we are and even when we get things wrong. We're all humans and make mistakes, but each day we must take the time to take stock in who we are by asking the important questions: Where could I have shown up more as my true self? How can I use my strengths more? What's working for me? What's not working? These are the types of questions we need to ask ourselves to always bring our authentic selves into what we do.As a strength coach, Murray also weighs in on how our strengths play a part in our authenticity. When asked to define strength, Murray tells us that there's power in knowing your strengths. When you're at your best, and you have a natural flow about you that lights up, that is where your strength lies. Knowing how you can bring that into your every day helps you to be authentic. Gratitude Can Be Life-Changing Murray admits he loves to start his day off by lowering his level of gratitude. And by that, he means anyone can be grateful for the material things they have that may cost a lot. But just taking the time to appreciate the little things in life, like a cup of coffee. There's appreciation in everything single thing associated with us, regardless of how small it is. And it plays a huge part in who we are. To that end, he shared how appreciation, gratitude and joy (the small things) changed his life over two years ago after a mountain bike accident left him just meters away from being paralyzed. The accident left him in a state of depression. But it was joy and gratitude that brought him back. Murray assures us that when we incorporate gratitude into our lives, it helps us to be our authentic selves.Hear more about Murray's journey and some of the lessons he's learned along the way in this episode. You will reach new heights with today's special guest. We're super pumped to talk with Tony Award-winning producer Nick Demos. Nick is a Tony and Olivier Award-winning producer, filmmaker, Soul-aligned business coach, and host of the Creative Soulpreneur podcast. He has over a decade of teaching meditation, yoga, and creativity under his belt and 30 years in the entertainment industry. So, this was such an exciting and inspiring conversation. I found it inspiring and I know that you will also. Authenticity - The Universal Search for TruthWhen asked how he lives authentically every day, Nick said that is the universal search for truth. We come into this world one way, and we're told who we are not and told to be a certain way. He went on to say that authenticity is a state of being. It's easier to find that state of being when we're solo, like when we're on the yoga mat and practicing our breathing, than when we're with others. But since we live in a world where we have to co-create and collaborate, finding that state is reactionary. Life is not what happens to us, but it's how we react to what's happening.21,600 Breaths Per DayNick goes on to tell us that to maintain a high vibrational state, those deep breaths he practices on his yoga mat are important to keep from reacting or sending out negativity. On average, we are gifted with about 21,600 breaths per day. Why not lean into those breaths to keep your brain from going into a negative place? Breathing brings awareness to what you're dealing with and shifts the energy. Yoga is not about what happens on the mat when you sit in meditation, but it's about what happens when you step out into the world.Purpose Is in Everything He DoesWhen asked what his purpose is, Nick responds his purpose is to be himself — to be authentic. Nick believes his purpose is not necessarily what he does, but that his purpose is in everything he does. Nick has found a cohesive way to bring all of his gifts and talents together, and it helps him fully live out his purpose and be the person he is today. To learn more about Nick and his transformative practices from the yoga mat to the streets, you can visit his website here. Today's guest is the founder and current Chief Visionary Officer of BNI. If you aren't aware, BNI is the world's largest business networking organization. He's also a New York Times bestselling author. As if that weren't impressive enough, he's been called the “Father of Modern Networking” by both Forbes and CNN. Are you excited yet? We certainly are. Dr. Ivan Misner is here to talk with us about his business, books and creating a harmonious life. Forget About BalanceYou might be skeptical about the idea of forgetting about balance. Isn't that what we're all aiming for, after all? It might be, but as Ivan points out, harmony is both a more practical and more achievable goal. It's not just semantics, either. When you think of balance, you probably picture an old-timey scale. That's not how life works, though. To begin with, you're likely juggling far more than two things. Beyond that, not everything in your life should have equal weight.Instead, the aspects of your life—work, family, friends, school, self-care, spirituality and anything else you want to include—should exist in harmony. Steps Toward HarmonyIvan highlights three critical steps to take toward a more harmonious life, although there are many more:Be present.Create margins in your life. Hold on and let go.Being present is a primary aspect of mindfulness, which is something that many of us practice. Of course, being fundamental doesn't make it easy, but when you're successfully present for your family, coworkers or anyone else you might be interacting with, you exude a sense of harmony. When Ivan says to create margins in your life, he means to give yourself space. He does that by taking a day, usually once a week, that he dedicates to himself. He might still spend time with family, but he also relaxes by the pool or watches a good movie. The final step Ivan cites is to hold on and let go. That might seem contradictory, but it's necessary. None of us have unlimited time or energy. Hold on to the things that align with your values. Let go of the things that don't.To learn more about BNI, you can check out the organization's website. We're thrilled to welcome Dr. Zeus Yiamouyiannis to our show. He specializes in transformational counseling, emotional and spiritual well-being and helping his clients develop spiritual confidence. Are you excited? We certainly are. Zeus's background in education—he has a Ph.D. from Syracuse University and three decades of experience—gives him added insight and aids him in turning ideas and concepts into tangible, practical actions. He's here today to discuss co-creativity and how you can live a more co-creative life. What Is Co-Creativity?Right now, we're living in an era of what Zeus refers to as transcendent hyperindividualism. By that, he means we're divided from other people in a way that causes conflict rather than healthy individuality, particularly when it comes to gender. In a co-creative space, two groups aren't pitted against one another. However, they don't lose what makes them unique by becoming one homogenous group either. Instead, co-creativity means the differences between the two groups serve to enhance them both. As a result, co-creative spaces are productive, creative and positive. Advice for Moving Toward Co-CreativityAs with any transformation, shifting toward co-creativity is a process. It's not something that's going to happen overnight, and that's okay. Zeus offers some advice: change doesn't have to be work, and feelings aren't problems to solve. He'll discuss far more during today's episode, and we can't wait for you to hear what he has to say, but let's expand on those ideas right now.If you've been a long-time listener of the Live Authentically podcast, you know that many of our guests discuss how to frame change in a more positive light. When you accept opportunities for change rather than resisting and attempting to stay the same, you're following the flow of the world, and it's not as challenging. Now, what about the idea of not trying to “solve” your feelings? It's tempting to try, especially when you're feeling guilt, shame, anger or other negative emotions. You can't, though, and treating your feelings like issues will only exacerbate that negativity. Instead, give yourself the time and space to acknowledge your feelings. If what Zeus discusses today resonates with you and you'd like more information, you can visit his website. He has a ton of great resources, including a free ebook. In addition, he has a separate site dedicated to learning to transform your place as part of a community and society, which you may also enjoy. Thank you for joining us today!

Today's guest is Robert Raymond Riopel, an author, trainer and the founder of AmentorA Inc., whose six ultimate steps to success have been transforming lives for years. Like many entrepreneurs, he's experienced highs and lows that range from finding himself 150,000 dollars in debt to retiring at the age of 32. We can't wait to share his holistic outlook on success with you. You're You, and That's EnoughIf you've been following the Live Authentically podcast for a while now, you've probably noticed that one of the points our amazing guests frequently raise is the importance of being yourself. Of course, that's easier said than done. Many of us struggle with people-pleasing tendencies and end up acting like someone we're not because we want to be liked, which is exhausting. When you're your authentic self, one of two things will happen. Either someone will like you, or they won't. As Robert points out, that's great either way. When someone likes you for who you are, you'll develop a stronger, more meaningful relationship. If someone doesn't like you, that's fine too. There are roughly eight billion other people in the world. Find Your Passion but Don't Let It Consume YouWhen we think about success, most of us imagine finding what we're passionate about and then devoting the rest of our lives to tirelessly pursuing it. That's what Robert did, but after several years he found himself burnt out. He still loved teaching and speaking, but he was drained. He'd spent so much time and energy giving and providing that he didn't have anything left for himself, and his health suffered.Rather than letting your passion consume you, practice moderation. That's hard when you're doing something you love, and you can see the positive influence you're having on people's lives, but, as the saying goes, you can't pour from an empty glass. Take time and make space for yourself to help avoid burnout. With that said, complete inaction isn't the answer either. Every single one of us has skills, talents and something to offer, and we're meant to use them. Robert is one of the most dynamic, charismatic speakers you'll ever encounter. If you get to the end of today's episode and find yourself wishing it was twice as long, head over to his website. He has a phenomenal podcast and more great resources available there. If the name of today's guest sounds familiar, that's because he's had an NFL career that included the Green Bay Packers, Tamba Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans. Now, Diondre Borel is an impact speaker and recently began his own sports performance health and wellness company called Cr8 Elite LLC. We're excited to have him here today to discuss the power of faith and belief in shifting your reality. It's Okay To Need SomeoneSociety places us under a lot of pressure to be independent and alright no matter what circumstances or challenges we face. That's not always the case, and it's not healthy to try and force it. Repressing or ignoring your feelings or blaming yourself for struggling in a difficult situation will only produce more negative emotions. Instead, make an effort to be your authentic self with the people who care about you. The people worth building and maintaining relationships with will make an effort to understand what you're going through and offer support. You're not alone, and when you reach out, you're letting other people who might be struggling know that they're not alone either. Speaking the Reality You Want To SeeTelling someone to believe in themself sounds a little trite, but it's true. When you believe in your ability to accomplish something, you're putting the energy you need to do so out into the world. We have power as individuals; you can speak and manifest the reality you want to see. That's not to say that you won't encounter resistance or even events that feel like failures. When that happens, it may be a sign that what you want might not be what's best for you. We all have a purpose, but finding it isn't always easy. That's where faith comes in. Have faith that there's something out there for you and that you'll find it. As you listen to today's episode, you'll hear a lot of powerful words from Diondre. One of our favorite messages he shares, however, is that your fear isn't bigger than where you want to go. As you move forward and look to the future, keep that in mind. Fear is often a reaction to the possibility of change. If you let it rule you, you'll be stuck in the same place forever. If Diondre's words resonate with you, you can reach out via Instagram or LinkedIn to connect with him. The website for Cr8 Elite LLC is under construction right now, so keep your eyes open!

He's been operating as a transformational leader since 2007, and he's here now to share with us the concepts and energies he values. Chief among them are the ideas of self-love, self-respect and self-belief. When combined, the practices can help you access a world of infinite possibilities. Letting Go of Your Need for ApprovalMany of us are people pleasers. Even if that's not strictly how you would define yourself, you might still find yourself seeking the approval of others above everything else, including your happiness. It feels good to have the approval of others, whether you're striving to be who your parents, partner, friends, or someone else wants you to be. Unfortunately, however, that good feeling doesn't last. There's always going to be something else you could do or someone else who has an opinion of you. Seeking the approval of others isn't sustainable, which, deep down, many of us know. It's challenging to acknowledge, but when you begin to value your approval over that of other people, you'll start to discover and value the possibilities that are best for you.Opening Yourself Up to AbundanceThere are two primary mindsets. The first is the contractionist mindset. When you're in a contractionist mindset, you shrink in on yourself. You make yourself less and let opportunities pass you by. There are a lot of reasons you might find yourself in a contractionist mindset, ranging from external pressures to a lack of belief in your capabilities. Overcoming this way of thinking can be a challenge, but you're doing yourself a disservice if you stay in this mindset. The other mindset is one of expansion. When you embrace an expansionist mindset, you're opening yourself up to opportunities and freeing yourself from the idea that you're not enough. Abundance is out there, and the universe wants to provide you with what you need. All you need to do is open yourself up to the messages it's sending and accepting the chances it offers you. When you change your mindset, you can change your entire life. We hope you enjoy today's discussion, and we're so glad you're choosing to spend this time with us.
