Dat bleek op de eerste bekeravond gelijk een goede zet, want Quick Boys versloeg Fortuna Sittard in Katwijk. Vanuit het speakershok op Nieuw Zuid praat Etienne Verhoeff na met Fabian van der Poll, Thijs Zonneveld en Quick Boys-trainer Thomas Duivenvoorden. ,,Fortuna Sittard kwam niet aan voetballen toe in deze wedstrijd", zegt Zonneveld met verbazing in zijn stem. ,,Het was dik verdiend, deze zege voor Quick Boys. Het had ook 5-1 kunnen zijn voor ze." Opvallend veel profteams sparen in deze tweede ronde van de beker nog belangrijke spelers. ,,Aan de ene kant zeg je als trainer dat de beker belangrijk is, maar je wisselt wel een aantal basisspelers. In aflevering 72 van Radio Horzelnest verwelkomt Norbert prof.dr. Rick Honings. Rick Honings is neerlandicus, auteur en Scaliger hoogleraar aan het Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society (LUCAS). Rick vertelt over zijn nieuwe boek, De ontdekking van Insulinde. Op reis in Nederlands-Indië in de negentiende eeuw, dat in oktober 2023 verscheen bij Uitgeverij Prometheus. In de vroege 19e eeuw, na de overgang van de VOC en de stichting van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden werd Indië officieel tot kolonie verklaard. De nieuwe koloniale gebieden trokken tal van reizigers: natuurgeleerden, predikanten, zendelingen, gelukszoekers en later ook toeristen. In De ontdekking van Insulinde bespreekt Rick Honings een brede waaier van de reisverslagen die deze reizigers bijhielden. De taal van deze reisverslagen, van de woordkeuze tot de beeldspraak, leggen de koloniale machtsverhoudingen in Nederlands-Indië bloot. In deze aflevering licht Rick enkele van zijn besprekingen uit: van de verslagen van Duitse botanici tot het verslag van Raden Mas Adipati Arjo Tjondronegoro V (pseudoniem: Poerwolelono). Prof.dr. Rick Honings richt zich in zijn onderzoek, doceren en schrijven op zowel de Nederlandse als de Nederlands-Indische letterkunde en cultuur van de negentiende en twintigste eeuw. In 2011 promoveerde hij op het proefschrift “Geleerdheids zetel, Hollandse Roem!” Het literaire leven in Leiden van 1760 tot 1860. In 2015 werd hij universitair docent Moderne Nederlandse Letterkunde, in 2019 werd hij hoofddocent, en 2020 werd hij benoemd tot Scaliger hoogleraar. Ten aanzien van de Indische letteren verzorgde hij samen met dr. Peter van Zonneveld de redactie voor Een tint van het Indische Oosten. En met dr. Coen van 't Veer en prof.dr. Jacqueline Bel verzorgde hij de redactie van De postkoloniale spiegel. De Nederlands-Indische letteren herlezen. Ook schrijf hij Het land van ‘Oosterzonnegloed'. Sporen van Indië in negentiende-eeuwse schrijversarchieven (2021). Rick Honings is ook hoofdredacteur van het tijdschrift Indische Letteren, en organiseert met Coen van 't Veer De postkoloniale podcast. Papoea-kinderen werden vrijgekocht uit slavernij en ‘heropgevoed'. Historicus Geertje Mak schetst in haar nieuwe boek ‘Huishouden in Nieuw-Guinea' een beeld van dit ‘kolonialisme van de goede bedoelingen'. (17:22) Column van Sana Valiulina. (21:32) Het Spoor Terug: Horizontaal Leven. Een podcast over de nu 81-jarige Kees die terugblikt op zijn tijd in het sanatorium Zonneveld in Oostkapelle. Het was de plek om te genezen van tuberculose. Deze bacteriële infectieziekte die meestal de longen aantast was bij Kees ook in zijn wervels gaan zitten waardoor hij het gros van de tijd op een hard gipsen bed doorbracht. Schrijver en dichter Mieke van Zonneveld werd op haar 21e getroffen door acute leukemie. Tijdens de ziekte viel de dagelijkse versluiering weg en voelde ze zich wonderlijk genoeg soms zelfs gelukkig, vertelt ze in De verwondering. Maar na de ziekte komt de psychische klap. Waar ze als klein meisje smulde van de rijke taal in de Bijbel, werd haar geloof nu meer een zoektocht: ‘ik schreef zelfs een soort dreigbrief aan God.' Toch bleef de Bijbelse taal haar troosten: ‘ik geloof meer in genade dan voor mijn ziekte. Er is iets warmers in mijn geloof gekomen.'

De speciale speciale aflevering van de Double Top podcast gemist? Deze speciale aflevering werd gemaakt in samenwerking met ALLsportsradio. In de twaalfde aflevering van het tweede seizoen van de Double Top podcast waren Niels Zonneveld en Wessel Nijman te gast bij presentator Damian Vlottes. De mannen bespraken de Pro Tours van vorige week, waar onder meer Zonneveld de kwartfinale haalde. Verder gingen ze in op de tijdelijke schorsing van Jarno Bottenberg, de vraag wie het World Cup-duo van België wordt, de voormalige gokverslaving van Luke Woodhouse en nog veel meer. Makheni Zonneveld is the Coolest Granny in Town. Originally from South Africa, she is an energetic 70-year-young granny. Makheni is the founder of Real Solutions Training (1999) and the Free Health Club (2021) and the authour of Healthier and Slimmer. She was is more known for being a speaker, trainer, coach and storyteller in the corporate sector. She became a wellness speaker and coach since proper health information saved her from an operation in 2008. She is a mother of two adult daughters and has one grandson. ASML kreeg in zijn prille jaren tientallen miljoenen aan overheidssteun, de tuinbouwsector ontving goedkoop gas, DSM staat voor De Nederlandse Staatsmijnen ('nuff said), en zo kunnen we nog wel even doorgaan. Dus: hoe ziet die nieuwe industriepolitiek eruit? We spreken met Rinke Zonneveld, de CEO van InvestNL, een staatsparticipatiemaatschappij die vier jaar geleden een zak met 1,7 miljard euro belastinggeld meekreeg, om te investeren in riskante bedrijven die het in de markt niet rooien. Wie kijkt naar de investeringen van InvestNL, ziet dat er in een wilde verscheidenheid van sectoren wordt geïnvesteerd: kweekvlees (gaaf!), fotonica (wat?), quantumtech (hoe?), scanning probe microscopy (tuurlijk!). Hein van Eekert in gesprek met schrijver en onderzoeker Rick Honings. Van zijn hand verscheen in het najaar het boek De ontdekking van Insulinde. Het ‘prachtig ryk van Insulinde dat zich daar slingert om den evenaar, als een gordel van smaragd'. Met die woorden verheerlijkte Multatuli de kolonie Nederlands-Indië in zijn Max Havelaar (1860). In de vroege negentiende eeuw, na de ondergang van de VOC, werd Indië voor het eerst een echte kolonie van Nederland. Vanaf dat moment gingen reizigers op pad om de binnenlanden van Java, Sumatra en de ‘buitengewesten' te verkennen: natuuronderzoekers, predikanten, zendelingen, taalgeleerden, ambtenaren, militairen en gelukszoekers, en later ook vrouwen en toeristen. Zij schreven volop reisverhalen om het ‘moederland' te informeren over het koloniale project. Hoe reisden ze in die periode in Indië? Welke woorden gebruikten ze om uiting te geven aan hun ervaring van de tropen? Wat zagen, hoorden, roken en proefden ze? Welke onbekende planten, dieren en mensen kwamen ze tegen? En wat zeggen de publicaties van negentiende-eeuwers over hun manier van denken? De ontdekking van Insulinde laat niet alleen zien hoe Nederlanders réisden, maar ook hoe ze dáchten en de koloniale stereotypen vorm gaven die tot op heden invloed uitoefenen. Rick Honingsis neerlandicus en Scaliger-hoogleraar aan de Universiteit Leiden. Zijn onderzoek richt zich vooral op negentiende-eeuwse en koloniale literatuur. Met Peter van Zonneveld schreef hij een bekroonde biografie van de dichter Willem Bilderdijk: De gefnuikte arend (2013). Daarnaast schreef hij onder meer de monografieën De dichter als idool. Literaire roem in de negentiende eeuw (2016) en Romantici en revolutionairen. Literatuur en schrijverschap in Nederland in de 18de en 19de eeuw (2019, met Lotte Jensen).

Abstract: Selective attention enables the prioritisation of task-relevant visual information, including among internal contents in working memory. Studies targeting the foundational mechanisms of covert selective attention often consider situations where to-be-attended and to-be-ignored visual contents are presented or memorised in distinct directions from fixation -- rendering direction sufficient for covert selection. Yet, in everyday life, direction alone is typically insufficient for selection because multiple potential objects of attention compete along any given direction. To gain insight into the mechanisms of covert attention when direction is sufficient versus insufficient for selection, we cued participants to select memorised visual items that were encoded near or far from fixation while manipulating whether direction was sufficient (no competition along direction) or insufficient (competition along direction) for selection. To uncover the nature of spatial coding for covert attention, we tapped into directional biasing of fixational gaze behaviour as a non-invasive read-out of the brain's oculomotor system -- a brain system widely recognised for its contribution to covert attention. This unveiled the principle of 'efficient spatial coding' whereby covert internal selective attention considers just direction when sufficient and considers the distance of the attended target only when necessary. On episode 110 of the Live Authentically podcast, Pam is accompanied by Paul Zonneveld. He is an international leadership consultant based out of Amsterdam. Paul guides many leaders, business professionals and whole organizations in growth, change and transformation processes. Paul and Pam begin this episode of the podcast– the right way– with the question, “How do you live authentically?” To that question, Paul tells us how he strives to live authentically by being as present as possible, in every moment of every day. He says that it is about embracing whatever comes his way– whether that be a very good mood or something on the other side of the spectrum.Paul tells us that when he finds himself in a mood less than ideal, he tries to find the source or cause of it, which is enormously aided by being entirely open and honest with himself– something that he heavily encourages for everyone.  After more questions about exactly how Paul got on the path of self-improvement and understanding himself, we move on to a more in-depth discussion about the journey that led Paul to where he is today. A part of that discussion brings us to the topic of family systems– specifically how investigating your own family can lead to insight into yourself and what the next more you should make is. Midway through the episode– Paul gives us some real-life examples of times that he has helped give people the perspective they need to see beyond a specific symptom or problem. These examples can give us new insight into how we view our own problems, and perhaps, they may help us zoom out with some perspective. However, these examples aren't just individual specific. Paul continues to give examples of how organizations can benefit as well. Concluding our podcast, Pam and Paul talk about some of the “tricks of the trade” that Paul uses to help people get out of a circle of constantly overthinking. Paul Zonneveld and Mieke Jacobs are the co-authors of the recent book Emergent, which brings a systemic intelligence lens to the questions of how organizations get into and ultimately resolve complex challenges, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions.Paul and Mieke have both spent decades working with the question of how to help leaders and organizations thrive. What surprised me most about this conversation was the deep attention to history that systemic intelligence brings to these questions of thriving. As Mieke said to me offline, just as human beings store trauma in our bodies, impactful or traumatic events in companies are stored in their visible and invisible structures. These events still show themselves in the internal relations and in the organizational culture.This deeply resonates with me: that we can understand what's happening in our lives and relationships by tracing the threads back through history to these root events. I've been on my own personal journey to understand my family history, to understand the roots of my own fears, and to heal from and let go of burdens that are no longer mine to carry.
