Life had handed both Kandis and Terri lemons, but instead of being sour about it, they somehow found each other, supported, encouraged and helped each other. Through it all, they fell in love. Knowing first hand what being down on your luck felt like, the two women had opened their home to other's down on their luck. Unfortunately, this act of kindness, led to their demise. SURPRISE!We have one last episode for 2023!Thank you to Tina for requesting this episode. She's been a listener since pretty much the beginning of OTCP.On the evening of September 11th, 2017, a fisherman spotted an unusual object floating along the surface of Lake Ontario near Oshawa Pier. After several attempts to bring the object closer with his fishing line, he realized he had made a grim discovery - the dismembered torso of a woman. There were no signs of identification, such as age indicators, scars, or tattoos, so Durham Police began scouring their missing people database for clues. It would take two months for police to identify the torso as 18-year-old Rori Hache, who had been reported missing a few days prior to being found. Despite their efforts to find the killer, the investigators could not find any significant leads that would give them the answers they were looking for. On December 29th, 2017, the police received a call a huge break. A plumber had dialed 911 to report a suspicious substance found in a drain at a property he was working at. He had gone to the property following complaints from neighbors that their plumbing was backing up into their sinks and bathtubs and was causing an unpleasant smell throughout their apartments.Durham Regional Police arrived on the scene a short while later and knocked on the home's basement apartment. When 45-year-old Adam Strong answered the door, he calmly said, "The gig's up..."Join Cam and Jen as they discuss the horrifying case "The Gig's Up: Rori Hache & Kandis Fitzpatrick"Thank you to our team:Written and researched by Fern Bushnall @eoacrimeListener Discretion by Edward October from OctoberpodVHS https://www.youtube.com/c/octoberpodhomevideoExecutive Producer Nico Vitesse of https://theinkypawprint.comSources:https://globalnews.ca/news/3736628/woman-torso-lake-ontario/ https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/autopsy-on-torso-found-in-oshawa-harbour-inconclusive-police-say-1.4288354https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/oshawa-harbour-torso-1.4285247 https://www.durhamregion.com/news/concern-growing-for-oshawa-teen-who-simply-vanished-in-august/article_5ebe0d37-de93-505e-86c6-c7b1de4d110c.html https://torontosun.com/news/local-news/oshawa-murder-victim-rori-hache-was-pregnant-and-determined-to-keep-the-babyhttps://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/she-did-not-deserve-to-die-family-remembers-teenage-girl-whose-torso-found-in-lake-ontario-1.3673593?cache=yesclipId10406200text%2Fhtml%3Bcharset%3Dutf-80404%2F7.314145%2F7.314145 https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/mother-of-murdered-teen-rori-hache-believes-her-daughter-was-hunted/article_a04d0075-585d-5f13-8e73-b9cf44ea13f4.htmlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHfRhKzmaWc https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/body-parts-found-with-undetonated-explosive-matched-to-torso-found-in-septemberhttps://www.durhamregion.com/news/torso-found-in-oshawa-harbour-is-that-of-rori-hache-teen-missing-since-august-durham/article_5b8bbc37-bb39-5e63-801f-c9ce5dfc7caa.html https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/body-parts-found-with-undetonated-explosive-matched-to-torso-found-in-septemberhttps://nationalpost.com/news/canada/body-parts-found-with-undetonated-explosive-matched-to-torso-found-in-september https://torontosun.com/news/local-news/sun-exclusive-ex-of-hache-suspect-says-he-needs-to-choke-women-to-orgasmhttps://torontosun.com/news/local-news/rori-hache-dismemberment-suspect-controlling-and-abusivehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6k8lr_Efjc https://www.durhamregion.com/news/crime/police-discover-dna-of-second-woman-kandis-fitzpatrick-while-searching-home-of-adam-strong/article_deaf5e2f-f5ad-5d46-8ff6-d8112eb074ed.htmlhttps://www.thestar.com/news/gta/durham-police-find-second-missing-woman-s-dna-sample-in-home-where-teen-s-remains/article_491f138f-13e5-50f2-8383-ccc170d5b1e8.htmlhttps://torontosun.com/news/crime/dad-of-missing-teen-i-could-have-choked-adam-strong-to-deathhttps://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/adam-strong-murder-charges-1.4897703https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/oshawa-man-charged-with-first-degree-murder-in-deaths-of-two-women-whose-remains-and/article_629df7b2-b0f9-5a83-aa44-80fa8cf34e9d.htmlhttps://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/adam-strong-trial-begins-1.5741888 https://globalnews.ca/news/7382079/adam-strong-trial-video-statement/ https://www.durhamregion.com/news/oshawa-murder-trial-shifts-to-focus-on-adam-strongs-alleged-history-with-women/article_abc8effd-c20e-565c-ba6a-2c3817122f94.html https://www.durhamregion.com/news/accused-killer-adam-strong-showed-off-sex-video-bragged-of-dungeon-court-hears/article_22324a18-27c0-5558-9c67-b5d2ab6c9f70.html https://www.durhamregion.com/news/strong-murder-trial-hears-grotesque-inventory-of-remains-found-in-apartment/article_9f70590e-0759-5e23-bd77-52b84367361f.html https://www.durhamregion.com/news/bruising-skull-fractures-found-in-rori-hache-autopsy-strong-murder-trial-hears/article_885015a1-ab70-54a4-8c4c-afa16d922897.html https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/verdict-in-case-of-oshawa-ont-man-accused-of-killing-two-teenage-girls-pushed-to-next-month-1.5290896https://criminallawoshawa.com/adam-strong-convicted-of-first-degree-murder-and-manslaughter/https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1371814011797389313.html https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/you-sir-have-brought-darkness-to-everyone-rori-hache-s-father-says-to-daughter-s-killer-at-sentencing-hearing-1.5444674https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/adam-strong-sentenced-to-life-1.6044616https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/remains-of-kandis-fitzpatrick-found-14-years-after-she-went-missing-1.6353740This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3647242/advertisement

Afsnit 553 Johnny Hansen!

Hey Friends & Kin! FYI: THIS, JUST LIKE ALL EPISODES OF HAND ME MY PURSE, CONTAINS PROFANITY. THIS PODCAST IS FOR ADULTS AND CONTAINS ADULT CONTENT. Now that we've gotten that out of the way... _________ Friends and Kin this episode is part two of my conversation with my homie & big time friend of the show, Kandis. As per usual we are laughing, disagreeing, telling all of the jokes - and of course, discussing dating and being single! Tune in for some good laughs but also some serious dialogue around what it's like to be single in 2023. We talk about some things that people don't really want to admit - like the freedom in being single! Listen, being single is extremely freeing and allows you to navigate this planet as you wish. So many people are hellbent on being attached to someone else or something else, but there is a peace in not being bound. Not to say that being in a healthy relationship is BAD, however, there is something to be said about being free to be until we (the singles of the world) meet the person that makes us feel FREE in a HEALTHY, committed union. Until I meet him, I will be focusing on myself and becoming the best version of ourselves that we can be! We Got To Do Better: “I DON'T BELIEVE THAT LIFE IS SUPPOSED TO MAKE. YOU FEEL GOOD , OR TO MAKE YOU FEEL MISERABLE EITHER. LIFE IS JUST SUPPOSED TO MAKE YOU FEEL.” - writer, GLORIA NAYLOR "GO WHERE YOU ARE LOVED. NOT WHERE YOU ARE TOLERATED..." You've likely heard about the countless benefits of magnesium for overall health, but did you know it also plays a crucial role in sleep? As one of The 3 Pillars of VIGOR, getting sufficient quality sleep must be a nonnegotiable for anyone who wants to maintain good health. Unfortunately, many people struggle with sleep, with almost 10% of Americans taking sleep medication. One way to enhance sleep quality is by getting enough magnesium. This guide explores the connection between magnesium and sleep, covers various magnesium supplements, and helps you find the best magnesium for sleep to optimize your rest. Why Magnesium Matters for Sleep Magnesium is a vital mineral involved in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body, including nerve and muscle function, maintaining a healthy immune system, and regulating blood pressure.de Baaij, J. H., Hoenderop, J. G., & Bindels, R. J. (2015). Magnesium in man: implications for health and disease. Physiological reviews, 95(1), 1-46. One of the most significant roles magnesium plays is in sleep quality. Magnesium contributes to the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles, and supports the function of GABA, a neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation and sleep.Abbasi, B., Kimiagar, M., Sadeghniiat, K., Shirazi, M. M., Hedayati, M., & Rashidkhani, B. (2012). The effect of magnesium supplementation on primary insomnia in elderly: A double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial. Journal of research in medical sciences, 17(12), 1161. Unfortunately, magnesium deficiency is quite common, with studies suggesting that up to 68% of adults in the United States do not meet the recommended daily intake.Moshfegh, A., Goldman, J., Ahuja, J., Rhodes, D., & LaComb, R. (2009). What We Eat in America, NHANES 2005-2006: Usual Nutrient Intakes from Food and Water Compared to 1997 Dietary Reference Intakes for Vitamin D, Calcium, Phosphorus, and Magnesium. US Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service. A lack of magnesium can result in poor sleep quality, insomnia, and even restless leg syndrome.Hornyak, M., Haas, P., Veit, J., Gann, H., & Riemann, D. (2004). Magnesium therapy for periodic leg movements-related insomnia and restless legs syndrome: an open pilot study. Sleep, 27(5), 1040-1048. Types of Magnesium Supplements There are several types of magnesium supplements available, each with unique pros and cons: Magnesium oxide: A common, low-cost option with a high magnesium content but low absorption rate.Lindberg, J. S., Zobitz, M. M., Poindexter, J. R., & Pak, C. Y. (1990). Magnesium bioavailability from magnesium citrate and magnesium oxide. Journal of the American College of Nutrition, 9(1), 48-55. Due to its poor bioavailability, magnesium oxide may not be the best choice for sleep improvement. Magnesium citrate: More readily absorbed than magnesium oxide but may cause gastrointestinal side effects, such as diarrhea, in some individuals.Walker, A. F., Marakis, G., Christie, S., & Byng, M. (2003). Mg citrate found more bioavailable than other Mg preparations in a randomised, double-blind study. Magnesium research, 16(3), 183-191. Although it's more bioavailable than magnesium oxide, its potential side effects make it less suitable for sleep improvement. Magnesium glycinate: A well-absorbed form that is gentle on the stomach and may improve sleep quality.Cao, Y., Zhen, S., Taylor, A. W., Appleton, S., Atlantis, E., & Shi, Z. (2018). Magnesium Intake and Sleep Disorder Symptoms: Findings from the Jiangsu Nutrition Study of Chinese Adults at Five-Year Follow-Up. Nutrients, 10(10), 1354. This chelated form of magnesium binds magnesium to the amino acid glycine, which has calming effects on the brain and nervous system, making it an excellent choice for sleep improvement. Magnesium malate: Known for its energy-boosting properties, it may not be the best option for sleep.Uysal, N., Kizildag, S., Yuce, Z., Guvendi, G., Kandis, S.,

In Ontario, Canada, September marks one of the last months of the year to get out and enjoy the great outdoors before packing it in for the season. In 2017, one fisherman in Oshawa, Ontario, was out on the pier when he noticed something floating in the water. What he and another fisherman managed to catch in his net, would be a visual that would forever be seared in his mind. Not a prize salmon but something far more sinister: Evidence of Murder.
