The Big Ten has released pre-seeds for its 2025 wrestling championships. The two-day event is slated for this Saturday and Sunday, March 8-9, at Northwestern. Big Ten Network will televise the opening, semifinal, and final sessions. B1G+ will stream the rest of them. Blue-White Illustrated will have complete coverage throughout the weekend as Penn State seeks its thrid straight conference tournament title.Below, we have three things we learned from the pre-seeds, which are not finalized until after Friday's coaches meeting in Evanston but are unlikely to change. You can also watch the BWI Penn State wrestling show and find links to the podcast version.1. The seeds look mostly as expectedUnlike some years, there was little social media outrage about the pre-seeds this year. They look mostly as many anticipated them to. Penn State has five top seeds -- Beau Bartlett (141), Shayne Van Ness (149), Mitchell Mesenbrink (165), Levi Haines (174), and Carter Starocci (184) -- as expected. Gabe Arnold is in for Iowa instead of Angelo Ferrari at 184 and is the No. 4 seed, which means he could meet Starocci in the semifinals after plenty of trash talk was exchanged before the Hawkeyes-Lions dual meet but Iowa went with Ferrari over Arnold opposite Starocci.Looking back at our roundup of seed projections, there were questions about where sophomore 133-pound starter Braeden Davis would end up. He is at No. 4, which was one potential landing spot. And, while most figured Shayne Van Ness would have the top seed at 149, there was some question about it. But, he did indeed land it.

Trent Condon returns for another week of the Locked on Hawkeyes. It was a week of misses for the men's basketball team and baseball team. The Hawkeye men fell at Illinois after having a 7 point lead in the 2nd half and couldn't get stops on the defensive end of the floor. Josh Dix was outstanding and Iowa needs him to play at that level going forward. Iowa goes into the final 3 games of the regular season having to win out to have a chance at being an NCAA Tournament team. The Iowa baseball team lost all 3 games down in Jacksonville after the bullpen blows leads against Auburn, Virginia and Wichita State. They need to figure it out in order to be a tournament team. It wasn't all bad news though as the women's basketball team bounced back with a big home win over Illinois. The team gave a lot of help to Caitlin Clark after the disappointment against Indiana. And the wrestling team got a win over Oklahoma State to finish off the regular season. Now what does Tom Brands do with true freshman Gabe Arnold and Ben Kueter in the Big Ten Tournament.  Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!LinkedIn These days every new potential hire can feel like a high stakes wager for your small business. We are here with Today's Business Leaders, Gabe Arnold and Adrianne Meldrum, to discuss how we can make a difference with our children's education and life by multi-sensory learning of math. – Where the kids will actually enjoy it! Could you imagine…enjoy math? Think of the possibilities that will open for them! Coming from a line of visionaries like her father, Adrianne wasn't sure of following her own into the business world. This uncertainty continued even after she made efforts to promote her business ideas about this new way of teaching math to children.  Their dear friend, Alex Charfen, has inspired Adrianne's enthusiasm for becoming the entrepreneur she was meant to be, to bring the world a new and improved way of educating our children on mathematics — the universal language! Gabe shares his comparable story of hitting a turning point in his entrepreneurship after hearing Alex speak at one of his seminars and truly adopting his ideals moving forward. For both Adrianne and Gabe, these experiences have left them accepting of their own missions and companies as a part of their identities, of their existence in order to have become so successful.  Adrianne went into more detail about her mission to bring sensory learning to mathematics to schools all over the world. It is an approach that can be adopted no matter what institution or level you are at, what recourses one uses, etc. It has been shown over many studies that we as humans use all of the senses in our bodies when we learn something. Think about all of the times you remember sounds or smells or feelings that you have had when recollecting a memory — the same goes for learning and recalling math too, or any subject for that matter. She went into some specifics that could help you and your family understand and learn in a way that works better for you as an individual. Today's guest is Gabe Arnold, a serial entrepreneur and the CEO of Business Marketing Engine, a full-service marketing firm. If you're a long-time follower of the Live Authentically podcast, you might be wondering where you've heard that name before.Gabe was the featured guest way back on the twelfth episode of our show. Then, he talked about the secret to entrepreneurial success. Now, he's here with us again to discuss the truth about entrepreneurship. Because this is Gabe's second time on the podcast, we're going to change up our format a little bit.Debunking Common Myths About EntrepreneurshipWe gave Gabe the following true or false statements:Entrepreneurship is easy and glamorous.Emotions have no place in business.Your number one objective should be to avoid adversity. The most successful people are overnight successes. To best serve your clients, you should always give them as much information as you can as quickly as possible. The path to success is linear. If you can do a task effectively and efficiently, it isn't worth delegating it.To preserve your reputation as an expert, never tell your clients when you make a mistake. If you're an entrepreneur, high levels of pressure and noise are just something you will have to deal with.Spoiler alert: each of these statements is false or mostly false. Gabe has valuable insights and personal anecdotes as to why, and we're excited to be sharing his answers with you.Leading With Your HeartMany businesses are purely transactional, which makes sense. Exchanging money for products or services is the foundation of the economy. However, that doesn't have to be where your work as a leader stops. Ask yourself, “what would love do?” Then, allow that question to guide your actions. For Gabe, asking himself that question has led him to the idea of showing up and leading with heart. Rather than treating the people he interacts with like numbers or accounts, he aims to treat them how he would a friend or a loved one. Doing so has allowed him to build lasting, meaningful relationships with both clients and employees. Eventually, Gabe's goal is to counteract the myths and misinformation surrounding marketing to help clients succeed. That means creating a holistic, multi-channel marketing strategy that will work for your business even as time passes and things change. To learn more about Gabe's work at Business Marketing Engine, you can visit the website today. The biggest takeaways for me were one is the more space I create for and give to my team the better they're going to do instead of me, which I'm not a terrible task master I don't think anybody would tell you that on my team, but I do like to push hard sometimes. And there's their seasons for that, but I'm realizing that the more space I give my team, the better they're going to do.And then also for the first quarter of this year, like I have been working like crazy and not protecting my own time and space and my own containers. And so those were the two big takeaways. So I decided to wear my VIP bracelet until I'm confident and pleased with how I've implemented, everything that I learned there. And those are the main two things is to get much better at creating and protecting containers for myself and essentially for my team too, just creating space because the games that we played to were incredible and I it's so funny to me how, like the universe works and I've, I set an intention like six weeks ago that I wanted to become better at playing and better at having fun and like better, playing with my son and just being more expanding that part of my life. And so I generally fucking hate games. The one, I don't see the purpose of it. I was like, you know what, I'm going to do this. And I'm going to set aside all my garbage and all the mind trash with us and I did it. And then I'm so glad I did because it, the event taught me to be a better father. Which means more than anything else. I learned there to be honest. And then on top of that, it just I w I was able to borrow some of your courage in multiple areas.Entrepreneurship is a marathon and it's not a sprint. So slow down for a minute and figure out what you need to master it at this, in this season and managing a team I've in my first business, it definitely was a headache to me. And I think that was just mainly because I'd heard people talk about it that way. I'd seen ineffective leaders and they didn't understand relationships. When I started building this business. I don't know if I was conscious of the intention. Cause I was still, it took me years to process. The pain that I went through it was not like, I feel like only in the last three years I've forgiven myself and I think I'm like 90, 95% healthy whole, which is pretty good. But so in the beginning, I don't know if I was aware of it. Cause there was so much pain going on and second marriage to a bipolar person that failed. And then I third relationship, I got it straight and I'm very happy. But one thing I've learned, I'll point this out and I'll get to the main question is if you're not with the right person, good luck building a business. But as far as building a team relationship is the only leverage and motivation you have period. So if you understand that, then you'll invest in the relationship first with your team members and then you'll worry about everything else. One of my guiding principles is positive confrontation, which I've lived my whole life, honestly, but then maybe not always positive, but now it's positive confrontation. invest in as a person first, and then the other things will follow after that. And when you do that, if the heart is there in the attitude there, and the core of the person is in the right place, you can teach skill. And so if you want to manage a large team, you have to just invest in the relationships first, because that's the only leverage you have. People are only going to follow you or do what you ask or show up their best if you invest in them. And so that's my big secret, not that big of a secret of their run, a big team. It's like just. Take really good care of people and the rest of it will work out.challenges a common belief that I hear people say in entrepreneurship all the time, that's either really wholeheartedly agree to pitch or really rejected, which is, higher pers personality and then train skill. the one thing I'll say about attitude is that you can only truly see somebody's attitude based on their actions. So when you're talking about like qualifications and personality. But like attitude is demonstrated through action and that's the other thing I wanted to augment there. And so if you if you're immature as a leader, you have a push button mentality, but if you're a mature as a leader, then you realize that repetition over repetition and persistence and time is what creates excellence. And even the greatest athletes, the greatest in entrepreneurship and then the, business and life and sports they have really bad days and do really stupid things. But that doesn't mean that you don't want to put them on the field because over time they'll just become incredibly strong and persistent. you've got to create that safety for you, your team, and the only way that you can create safety for your team. Here is if you are good at your job, and if you've put in the time and you're willing to try and fail. And so I'm really grateful to be in a position now where I can pay my team to fail and to really cool place to be. And the only reason I can pay my team to fail is because I got good at sales. And then I learned financial management, which means I have a cushion in projects and in my bank account. And so my mentality is like when I fail and when my team fails, I always say, okay, how can we face our work? How can we jump in and face the work and do the hard thing and have the hard conversation or own up to the mistake. And I've made some massive mistakes over the years and my team has too. And I also, I guess the last thing I'll say on this for a minute here is when my team just fucking destroy something and drops the ball and it's a big one. I, then they let me know because they know it's safe. I go to the client and I say, you know what, George, I'm so sorry that we dropped the ball on your project. It's my fault. Yep. And that's how you protect your team whose fault it is.I used to just like implode relationships or say exactly what was on my mind or just do things that were other people did not understand. So I would go and I, then I would sit back and go, okay, so what did I do? Like why did that not work? I thought it was gonna work. So I evaluate my own behavior. I evaluate human behavior a lot. And if you truly take time to reflect on your own behavior and evaluate what happened and what you did, and the results were then. If you want to take the shortcut and not grow, you can go. It didn't work because he did something and then you're off the hook and you can just keep operating the way you were. Or then those answers never worked for me. And I was like, man, that just doesn't seem right. Like I would just, it would just eat me and it would roll around inside until I would go, you know what I'm going to do differently next time is this because I do have input and I do have control of my own behavior and attitude. And I have control of my decisions. And anytime that I'm consistent in my inputs and the decisions I make, then things work out better. It's not that I'm not going to hit these huge roadblocks or problems, but I can at a somewhat objective level. We're not completely objective ourselves, but at a somewhat objective level, I can go, Oh that didn't work. And I wasn't prepared. So how can I prepare differently or this person failed, and this may happen again.like in my opinion, entrepreneurs are all destined to be successful. That's why we're an entrepreneur. We know we have the drive. And really the only thing that gets in our way is stagnation and not being aware or over analyzing or collecting our mistakes as evidence is the easiest way to cement our feet in place.I'm learning to not only be more disciplined and structured, but also to honor how I operate. I would encourage you to test and practice and try the things that people suggest and then make them your own, because it really is your attorney. And there are certain things that I do that will be a bad idea for you. And there's certain things that I do. I turn the shower cold and it makes my day better because it reminds me of who I am. It reminds me that I can withstand incredible amounts of pain and pressure and discomfort. And that's part of what wakes me up and makes me alive. And a lot of what I went through as a child. A lot of, I went through my first business, a lot of what I've gone through in marriages and bad relationships has brought out like my strong animal instinct in me. And it's brought out the warrior in me. And I believe that all of us have that warrior inside of us, but it's so dormant because we live in air conditioned homes and we click a button and watch whatever we want. And we can never feel, we don't have to drive anywhere if we don't want to cause we can over we can have our food delivered to our house. Like we have no adversity. Adversity is the greatest gifts that the universe gives us. And then I come down and use Alex Charfens momentum journal. So I'll come to my office and. Plan, and that is game changing. It's just it's so perfect for entrepreneurs. the greatest gift that the universe gives us is adversity, which is actually why I feel like entrepreneurs struggle so hard in the beginning because we jumped from a world of comfort, into a world of guaranteed adversity every day. And we get upset that we don't have the capacity to play with it. I also realized that the skill set that is least trained by most of us is adversity because of the comforts that surround us.

Today’s guest, Shannon Graham, realized he was an entrepreneur since his early teens. When he was in school, he would take the one-cent CDs from the Columbia House catalog and upsell them to his friends and classmates to make a profit. This was his very first taste of being a business owner, and he knew it was for him.Graham began his coaching career in his early 20s while working a full-time job. It did not take long for him to start making more income from his coaching business than his full-time career. By that point, he quit his nine to five to work full time for himself and has never looked back. He now works with ultra-high net worth individuals who have gone through the ultimate failure (losing their purpose and not achieving their fulfillment) through his million-dollar program — Second Summit. His goal is to bring together the 98 percent and the 2 percent to create a better world and bring civilization to Tier One — a civilization that can utilize all the natural energy resources on a planet. But before that can happen, he helps individuals realize their full potential. Can money buy happiness? Contrary to the popular belief that money cannot buy happiness, Graham explains that it 100 percent can. “Happiness is not a core state of being.” Just like sadness, it comes and goes. People confuse happiness and fulfillment. They believe that to truly be content with their lives, they have to be happy. However, as human beings, you cannot be happy all day every day. How can you reach fulfillment? The one thing in life that everyone is trying to achieve (even if they do not know it) is fulfillment. Fulfillment is how we feel about ourselves. Many people think that money can make you feel fulfilled. However, you can be poor and still feel fulfilled, and you can be wealthy and never feel fulfilled. While making money is a science, fulfillment is an art. There is “no clear blueprint” on how you can get it and where you can find it. An issue that Graham comes across from these ultra net worth individuals is that while they were making a way to earn money, they sacrificed their fulfillment. This sacrifice then drags them down. But Graham is here to help turn things around. If you like what Shannon Graham is all about or what he teaches, then check out his website for more information.
