As a former college athlete, sales executive, and father of two, I thrived on living life to the fullest until a "nervous tick" in my left arm led to a life-changing diagnosis of young onset Parkinson's Disease in 2016 at age 42. The tick developed into a severe tremor affecting my left side, causing constant pain, embarrassment, and a sharp decline in my quality of life. I struggled with daily activities and business meetings, and intense situations like coaching my son's basketball games became nearly unbearable. In 2020, I discovered a clinical trial for Focused Ultrasound, a promising new tremor treatment. Thanks to a supportive employer and a dedicated medical team at the University of Pennsylvania, I underwent this transformative therapy in June 2022. On June 9, 2022, I traveled to the University of Pennsylvania filled with hope but anxious about the procedure. During the MRI, I experienced intense physical and emotional strain. However, after the third sonication, I felt my tremors cease and my muscles relax for the first time in years. It was a profound moment of relief and stillness. Since then, I've shared my Parkinson's journey and Focused Ultrasound experience at Capitol Hill, Princeton University, and Rock Steady Boxing. These encounters have shown me the hope my story brings but also highlighted the challenges many face in accessing this treatment. This realization led to the creation of the Be Still Foundation to address these issues and support others in need. https://www.bestill.foundation

Alice A. Holstein, Ed.D was diagnosed with bipolar mood disorder at the age of 51, which interrupted her career and produced some 12 years of intense suffering with many manic episodes, many hospitalizations, thousands of dollars spent and overall, a bleak prognosis of recovery. She lives now, as an elder, with a full if careful life of extraordinary wellness despite still being on medication. She has a dramatic story to share about how she developed a revolutionary understanding of mental health recovery which she believes can be at least partially related to recovery with Parkinsons. In her presentation she will explain this potential correlation by first enumerating the comparisons, such as that she too was given a bleak prognosis and told that heavy medication was required. She also understands that Parkinson's can often produce depression in those who suffer. Her thoughts can help people specifically deal with that diagnosis. Alice believes that illness in general should be treated as a whole person approach---holistically, to include mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and social aspects. The medical profession does not proceed in this fashion. She accidentally discovered this more complete framework and has developed specific understandings that may be helpful to those dealing with Parkinsons. She also believes that recovery is partly a matter of developing one's higher consciousness. Her ideas and words will likely challenge, inspire and encourage the listeners on this broadcast to continue and add to the kinds of things they already are doing to improve their conditions vs. degenerate. Her example serves as a beacon of hope to living a healthier life regardless of one's diagnosis, going beyond present practices to achieve stronger wellness and increased satisfaction. Neurons are cells that contain mitochondria. Photobiomodulation energizes neuronal mitochondria, triggering a cascade of beneficial cellular functions. Potential benefits are neuroprotective effects, self-repair mechanisms and enhanced functionality. Vielight's patented intranasal stimulation technology and microchip LED technology is an innovative tool for brain photobiomodulation developed by Vielight. My guest today is Vielight's CEO Dr. Lew Lim. Intranasal photobiomodulation is the most efficient method for light energy to reach the brain. Different from electrical and magnetic stimulation, photobiomodulation uses light energy (or photons) of specific wave lengths and power density to simulate cellular function. Vagus Neuro Duo The Vielight Neuro Duo is is the result of years of engineering and research. Clinical research with our technology has produced improvements in cognition, memory and blood flow. The Vielight Neuro Duo comes with both Alpha and Gamma modes. Gamma (40Hz): focus, memory, brain energy.Alpha (10 Hz): relaxation and sleep improvement. Vagus Device Recently introduced is Vielight's Vagus device which enables non-invasive stimulation of the vagus nerve (VNS) via photobiomodulation (PBM). Retired Australian Naturopath and parkinson's sufferer, Ian Ridgeway will be explaining an unusual and unique therapy that regenerates stem cells using skin patches. When applied to the skin, they use the body's own heat to stimulate certain salts and sugars in nano particle size to reflect very specific light frequencies which then stimulates functions in cells. This is a form of phototherapy, or photobiomodulation. His latest patches stimulates an enzyme called Copper Peptide which activates our dormant stem cells. By the time you reach the age of 60yrs old, 60 – 90% of your stem cells are dormant. Inventor and founder and CEO of the company who sell them has put the technology into a small, affordable easy to use patch that you just place on your skin! David has around 80 patents on the technology and a similar amount of clinical studies using them. He even has worked out a way you can pay for and even make make money sharing with others. Ian, who was was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2019, reports that, So far says he sleeps far better and, can walk without a stick in his “on” times, have far more energy now able to work in his garden and orchard most of the day and his wife has more energy after they both have been using the patches for about 4 weeks of use. Dr. Christian Hageseth is an 82-year-old retired psychiatrist. His first symptoms of PD started 18 years ago, yet he only started taking L-Dopa 2 ½ years ago. He credits his success in slowing PD—almost to a halt—to his attitude, exercise, and practicing yoga. He directed his local PD support group from 2012 to 2019. During that time, the numbers of attendees went from thirteen to more than one hundred every month. Today he feels it is critically important for PWPs to avoid spending their time looking for for the next new drug to show up. Instead, he says to live life to its fullest. He reminds us that PD does not appreciably shorten the life span of PWPs. And he also reminds us that medications such as L-dopa do not increase longevity. He has always viewed PD as a challenge, not a curse.

Most people think about Parkinson's disease as being just what it's called: a disease — a distinct clinical entity, which can be treated as a thing to itself. In fact, however, like all the other diseases of aging, it's the result of the lifelong accumulation of specific kinds of cellular and molecular damage that happen to all of us as part of the biological aging process. PD results from specific kinds of aging damage accumulating in key parts of the brain and nervous system, but similar damage accumulates in other aging tissues, causing dysfunction in those local tissues; these degenerative processes get labeled "diseases" when they reach a tipping point and the tissue can no longer carry out its normal function. The good news is that we now have a strategy for preventing, delaying, and one day even reversing Parkinson's and other diseases of aging through the revolution in rejuvenation biotechnology: therapies that directly remove, repair, replace, or render harmless the damage of aging. By clearing out that damage from the tissues, functionality can be restored and youthful health and vigor with it. SENS Research Foundation https://www.sens.org is a 501(c)3 medical research charity that is working hard to accelerate the development of a comprehensive suite of rejuvenation biotechnologies, to bring the benefits as soon as possible to as many people as possible. Modern medicine uses biochemistry as the science of healing, but research is uncovering that Bioenergetics, an exciting, emerging area of 21st century medicine is a more effective, life-sustaining approach that heals all living systems. Your body is made up of 70-100 trillion cells, and these cells perform thousands of biochemical functions every day. But what controls the biochemistry of your body? Well, we now know that the answer is … Energy. Every living thing on the planet gives & receives energy including the cells in your body! This energy forms fields in your body we call collectively “Body-Field”. Your Body-Field transmits information to your cells' own energy fields about what biochemical functions to perform and in what order - it is the “information-software” that directs your organism's “energy-hardware”. When this energy is blocked, the information is also blocked or gets distorted, and your body ceases to function the way it should. https://www.juneva.com

Dr. Mario E. Martinez, a clinical neuropsychologist, established the Biocognitive Science Institute™ in 1998. He developed a theory of mindbodyculture he calls Biocognition to suggests how cognition and biology coemerge with their cultural history in a bioinformational field that seeks maximum contextual relevance. Mario Martinez's theory of biocognitive science proposes that the brain learns to interpret symbols and their biological correlates from cultural contexts. He is the proponent of cultural psychoneuroimmunology (how cultural beliefs affect the regulation of nervous, immune, and endocrine systems). The plasticity of our brain allows for reversals of dysfunctional behavior learned from the cultural reality we weave to perceive our world. Biocognitive Science Institute www.biocognitive.com

This is, to date, the most thorough exploration of the aetiological pathways (causes) leading to diagnosis with Parkinson's disease or similar neuro disorders. John Coleman's new book, Rethinking Parkinson's Disease, explains how and why trauma, toxins and stealth infections create symptoms diagnosed as a "disease", usually then treated without any further investigation into prodromal history, early life, toxic load or the possibility of infection. The major section of this work details strategies to create wellness and reverse the illness processes, much available to patients with little or no cost. There are sections on Western Allopathic Medical treatments (symptom control), Complementary Medical treatments and therapies to avoid. Our immune system is our best defense against illness. Edwards, who founded the science of BioAcoustics, has determined that with the onslaught of the current pandemic, the body is in dire need of specific nutrients to help counter the Coronavirus. Two critical ones are glutathione and quercetin. A healthy immune system always needs these nutrients - and in the case of the Coronavirus, they are extraordinarily essential. Mattson's compositions contain Edwards' Frequency EquivalentsTM of glutathione and quercetin. There are seven other Frequency Equivalents of substances that boost the effectiveness of the immune system. (Vitamin C, adrenaline, epinephrine, ACTH, and others.) You ingest sound and your body uses this energy. We currently cannot prevent infection by the Coronavirus, but we can help significantly reduce the severity of the disease by building up our immune systems. Finally, embedded in Mattson's music frequencies for emotional clearing and healing. There are frequencies for a dozen flower essences and twelve crystals! The music is profoundly calming and provides a peaceful feeling amidst the tension surrounded by the coronavirus epidemic. Stochastic Resonance Therapy (SRT) was born in the German city of Frankfurt when Dietmar Schmidtbleicher developed a new training device for Olympic athletes. Since then, the whole-body vibration device he developed has been studied and shown to be effective in the treatment of Parkinson's motor symptoms. While you may have already heard of the benefits of vibration therapy and Parkinson's, chances are you haven't heard of SRT until now. SRT is different from other types of vibration devices. It delivers randomized and non-uniform oscillations and perturbations to the body, whereas all other devices on the market deliver uniform, sinusoidal vibrations. The random nature of SRTvibrations elicits the automatic stretch reflex in the muscles, which leads to postural adjustments being made in the spinal cord and the cerebellum (the part of the brain that automatically adjusts movement patterns). These adjustments keep the head still and the body upright while on the device. Hundreds to thousands of stimuli are delivered to the spinal cord and cerebellum in a matter of minutes. In the literature, SRT has been shown to decrease tremor and rigidity, improve postural control and balance, and lead to better gait patterns in Parkinsonian patients. N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) is relatively inexpensive supplement that supports that body’s natural ability to produce glutathione. Glutathione is one of the body’ most important and effective antioxidants. Persons with Parkinson’s have significant oxidative stress which depletes levels of glutathione. This, in part, explains why they tend to have a significant deficiency of glutathione. Research studies find that NAC has been effective as a therapy for injuries to the brain in general as well as a therapy for addressing symptoms of Parkinson’s. Dozens of natural therapies are documented at my new online course What Really Matters https://www.blog.parkinsonsrecovery.com/what-really-matters/

Balance difficulties can be due to impaired eyesight. What can be done to correct issues with eyesight? Research reveals that the underlying reason for vision difficulties is inflammation. It follows that getting inflammation under control is the key to achieving an improvement in eyesight which in turn can improve balance and reduces the risk of falls. This interview with Jennifer Jones, a representative of Innovative Vision Products, addresses research by Dr. Mark Babizhayev PhD which resulted in the development of the groundbreaking natural cataract eye drop product called Can-C. Dr. Lew Lim discusses his new invention - the X-Plus photobiomudation device and its potential application for symptoms of Parkinsons Disease and Alzheimer's. It can be used in conjunction with the Vielight Neuro Gamma device that many listeners of Parkinsons Recovery Radio have already been using. Neurons are cells that contain mitochondria. Photobiomodulation energizes neuronal mitochondria, triggering a cascade of beneficial cellular functions. Potential benefits are neuroprotective effects, self-repair mechanisms and enhanced function. Vielight’s patented intranasal stimulation technology and microchip LED technology are innovative tools for brain photobiomodulation. Intranasal photobiomodulation is the most efficient method for light energy to reach the brain. Different from electrical and magnetic stimulation, photobiomodulation uses light energy (or photons) of specific wave lengths and power density to simulate cellular function. The mouth is subject to various insults that result in compromised areas such as ulcers, cuts, burns, etc. These can be caused by hot or sharp foods, infections, medical therapy, or disease conditions that may be limited to the mouth, or also affect other parts of the body. The health of the mouth also affects the rest of the body. The oral-systemic connection continues to be the subject of much scientific investigation. Conditions such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and others are now known to be associated with the health of the mouth. TheraGel Oral Coating Rinse provides pain relief, protects wounded areas from contamination, and optimizes healing. It is drug-free and non-toxic and is safe to swallow.
