In this inspiring and thought-provoking episode, International Coach and Senior Trainer for the More to Life Foundation, Ann McMaster, joins CJ Miller to explore how personal sovereignty and intuitive wisdom guide us toward our Real Reality. Ann, a psychotherapist and author of Lifeshocks, shares how the interplay of mind, heart, and gut intelligence allows us to move beyond social conditioning and cultural scripts to live authentically. Together, they discuss the concept of boundaries and how these not only protect our essence but also create the freedom to navigate relationships, social media, and life's challenges with personal empowerment and clarity. Ann introduces practical tools like the Say-Do-Feel alignment to assess trust and authenticity in ourselves and others. By tuning into gut intuition and adopting "soft eyes," Ann explains how we can take in a broader perspective, discerning reality while filtering out fear-based narratives. Drawing from neuroscience, she highlights the Reticular Activating System, a mechanism in the brain that aligns perception with our emotional focus. Whether navigating social media or personal relationships, Ann encourages listeners to direct their attention toward what they do want to manifest, using intentional focus and mindful attention to shape their lives. The conversation touches on the profound connection between mind, heart, and gut, offering practical exercises to ground and reconnect with one's essence. Ann guides listeners through a powerful heart-centered grounding technique that aligns the body, calms panic, and restores clarity. CJ shares his own practice of presence and the importance of filtering out fear-based content to avoid disconnection from self, including his use of affirmative prayer as a tool to focus on desired outcomes and align with Creative Intelligence. This episode is a beautiful invitation to embrace your personal sovereignty: follow your heart, trust your gut, and honor your unique journey by establishing boundaries that maintain personal alignment and sovereignty. Through tools like mindful attention, discernment, and love-based action, listeners are empowered to remain connected to their essence while supporting others in their authenticity. Form truly follows energy—and when you align with your truth, life unfolds with greater ease and flow. For more information on Ann McMaster visit, https://annmcmaster.com/. When was the last time you took a break from learning new professional skills and, instead, carved out space to pursue self-discovery and community support? On this episode of Transforming Trauma, host Emily Ruth welcomes back the faculty of the Complex Trauma Training Center (CTTC)––Brad Kammer, Stefanie Klein, and Marcia Black––to introduce SPACE, an innovative inner development program for therapists debuting in early 2025. SPACE supports therapists on three levels of the human experience: the personal, interpersonal, and transpersonal. Brad, Stefanie, and Marcia guide you through the intention of the program, as well as its structure, highlighting the themes and what participants can expect to gain from each session. They also share insights into how their own struggles and learning over their long careers as therapists helped them become more present, authentic, and effective therapists, and inspired their creation of SPACE. When we think of space, we may think of exploration into outer space. What CTTC's SPACE program offers is exploration into our inner space: “It's [an] invitation to have a new relationship to our own inner world as a therapist.” Learn more about being a part of this community About the SPACE Faculty: Brad Kammer, LMFT, LPCC, is the Training Director and Senior Trainer for the Complex Trauma Training Center. Season 2, Episode 29, Release Date: 5-4-2024 IFIO with guest Toni Herbine-Blank Today I have the pleasure of sharing my conversation with Toni Herbine-Blank, MS. RN, C-SP. She is a Clinical Specialist, Psychotherapist, and Senior Trainer for the Center for Self-Leadership. Toni began training students in Internal Family Systems Therapy in 2004 and since then has been instumental in designing programs and writing curricula for Levels 1 and 2 IFS training programs. Toni has been in private practice since 1996 specializing in the treatment of couples and individuals. In 2009, after designing a training for IFS therapists to apply the model to couples therapy, Toni offered the first Intimacy from the Inside Out (c) Training Program in Boston, MA. Since then the program has been received with great enthusiasm across the United States. Whereas IFS focused on the internal aspects of an individual, IFIO focuses on the interdependance our internal system and external relationships. We turn inward (known as a "YOU-turn") to help us in our connections ("RE turn" to relationship). Toni shared how the heart of her model is "Courageous Communication." When we feel healed, we open up to conversations. In this way we can stay connected with our minds and hearts, and are able to tune into how we might be impacting other people in the conversations. Within intimate relationships, there is mutuality, as well as exploration. Although skills and tools could be extremely helpful, we need to have a critical mass of self energy in order to access these skills. Self-energy helps us listen and speak from our hearts. We spoke about how Shame is a verb. When we have difficulty connecting and commnuicating with one another, we can explore what is coming up within us, and there is always some path that connects us back to shame, shamfulness or shaming behaviors. Shame is a "rolling" energy, where we sometimes replicate within our systems what is done to us. Additionally, what we do to ourselves, we do to others. In IFIO we are "helping people free themselves from the myth of Unloveability." Through IFIO we earn the trust of our internal system, and in this way recognize who we can extend this trust to in our external world. As these people are welcomed into our internal universe, we co-constuct authentic and meaningful connection.

Greetings Glocal Citizens! This week, we're flashing back to my trip to Cape Town last November. I met my guest, Yaliwe Clarke through sister-to-sister connection, literally. Her sister and mine are friends and as we (my sister and I) were in SA together our meeting was inevitable. Yaliwe, who is of Zambian and British parentage found her way to South African nearly two decades ago from Zambia, where she spent most of her life. She is the immediate past Director of the African Gender Institute at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Prior to this, since 2000, she worked with civil society organizations and interacted with a wide range of social justice activists, peace-builders/conflict resolution practitioners, diplomats, and peace and security personnel in over 11 countries in Africa. She is a skilled conflict resolution practitioner, trainer, and facilitator who has experience in assisting nonprofit organisations, and government officials across the African continent, particularly during her time as a Senior Trainer at the Centre for Conflict Resolution, based in Cape Town. Alongside this work, Yaliwe has taught and written on African Feminism, peace, security, and development at the University of Cape Town since 2008. She has a Ph.D. in Social Development that investigated the micro-politics of women's ‘peace activism' in northern Uganda. She is also interested in post-conflict reconstruction processes; social change processes in times of crisis; and notions of respectable femininity, marriage, pleasure, and (hetero)sexuality in Africa. In entrepreneurship, she is co-founder of Maliya Tours & Transfers which focuses on travelers seeking out sites and histories in South Africa that are distinct from those in other countries and based on hers and her co-founder's experiences living in the Western Cape. If you're ever in the Western Cape, definitely book your tours with Maliya. We did and they did not disappoint! Where to find Yaliwe? International Coach and Senior Trainer for the More to Life Foundation Ann McMaster shares how the More to Life methodology reveals your Real Reality. More to Life is based on Dr. K. Bradford Brown and Dr. W. Roy Whitten's training program that enables people to make fundamental changes. Their premise is to be awake to reality– the reality of our essence, relationships, and the moment and circumstance in which we find ourselves. Ann walks Podcast Host Christopher J. Miller through one of his recent Lifeshock experiences to demonstrate how the process works. After we experience a Lifeshock, we interpret the experience based on our current situation and belief systems. This response is known as Mindtalk. With clarity, we revisit the Lifeshock and ask ourselves three questions. Are our thoughts true or false, or do we simply not know? The process helps us live in the real world instead of one made up in our heads. The ultimate goal is learning to live our true destiny. Ann aligns herself with this saying, "I am who I am, You Are who you are. My journey is my Journey; Your Journey is not my journey. And all journeys work in the big scheme of things." To understand more about the thinking mind, the feeling heart, and the knowing gut, Ann refers the listener to another book titled "Mbraining: Using your multiple brains to do cool stuff" by Grant Soosalu and Marvin Oka. Ann reminds the listener of one undeniable truth, "We belong right here, right now." Ann McMaster has been training, coaching, and working with people from Europe, New Zealand/Australia/Fiji, Mexico, Colombia, and South Africa – where she lived for two years. She is a psychotherapist, trainer, consultant, and coach. She has worked with people across the US, the UK, Mexico, South America, Spain, Switzerland, Brussels, Trinidad and Tobago, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, and South Africa, where she lived for two years. As a Senior Trainer for the More To Life Foundation, she has also led courses for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Texas and California. She has been a consultant for the New Mexico State Prison System. She is the author of "Lifeshocks Out of the Blue: Learning from your Life's Experiences," available on Amazon.com. She loves working with people and learning about new ways to make a difference in the world. You can check her out at www.annmcmaster.com. “A lot of people get blown around by the winds of life - wondering things like how they end up angry or sad, or why they're happy and cannot seem to point out why. It's a very interesting subject, but once we become aware of it, it's very hard to ignore it afterwards…” In this episode, we dive deep into learning more and understanding how our physicality, our emotions, and how we hear things combine to make us feel the way we feel; and more importantly, what we can do to control them.Joining me this week is a guest speaker I love to keep inviting back on the show for his expertise on mindset. This time, he takes us through emotional states, how it affects us, and how we can positively influence our emotional states to help us go from being “blown around by the winds of life” to taking back control or “start to steer the boat” so to speak…ABOUT OUR GUESTRich Waterman is a high performance coach in both personal and business life. In its most pure form, coaching should rarely, if ever, include expert knowledge or advice. However, this notion carries with it some exceptions when it comes to wellness coaching, especially when coaching around a specific concern or ailment. In this workshop, MCC coach and Senior Trainer, Hannah Finrow, will explore the differences between the role of “expert” and the role of “coach” in a wellness coaching session.
“You need the light and the dark. You need a bit of resentment, you need a bit of anger, you need a bit of frustration; but what you don't want to do is live there.”In this episode, we talk about a very interesting approach to being more - not only in business, not only as a leader, but most importantly in life - through values and rules, realizing your own personal values and rules, knowing how to assess them and apply them every day. Some examples of these values we really dive into are connection, love, contribution, among others…My guest who joins me this week has been on the show two times before, which is a testament of how effective he is in what he does and apparently, how much my listeners want him back. My guest opens up about his own way of approaching these rules, how it enriches his personal life, his family, and his career. In this episode, Adam and Mary discuss:The greatest connectorAvoid stopping your breathTips for doing breathworkKey Takeaways:Breath is the greatest connector. It connects us to our body, it clears up our mental clutter, helps us process emotions, and ultimately, it connects us to the higher power that we have faith in.Stopping your breath will not help you control your emotions. Remember to breathe optimally, making your diaphragm the very core of your breath. Unlearn the misconception that it's not right for you to express your emotions.Closing your eyes while doing breathwork is effective for keeping yourself from being distracted and for bringing back your attention on your breath. Start wherever you're at, don't force yourself into an uncomfortable position. "Just breathe… its one of the most powerful tools that we've been given. It's the first thing we do when we come into this world and it's going to be the last when we leave the world - the one thing we can't live without." — Mary O'Dwyer Connect with Mary O'Dwyer:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/marysbluedoor/Website: https://www.marysbluedoor.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/marysbluedoor/ Connect With Adam Weber:Website: https://meditationnotmedicine.com/about/Email: adam@meditationnotmedicine.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/easytomeditateInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/meditationnotmedicine/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPnbji9rDrCfxhY0W8sHL9A Book: Meditation Not Medicine Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla.
