    I'm am thrilled to annouce my new Fitter Mindset Journal.  This is a daily practice journal to cultivate self mastery in your mindset through daily gratitude and intetion setting.  Get your copy today: https://catherinetanaka.com/fittermindset One of the biggest challenges that I see stop the progress in women to feeling and looking their best is self sabotage.   Self sabotage is the act of intentionally or unintentionally hindering our own progress towards our fitness and weight loss goals. This can manifest in a variety of ways, such as skipping workouts, indulging in unhealthy habits like overeating or not getting enough sleep, or setting unrealistic goals that are difficult to achieve. Self sabotage can stem from a variety of underlying causes, such as a lack of motivation, fear of failure, or self-doubt. It's important to identify and address the root causes of self sabotage in order to overcome it and stay on track with our fitness and weight loss goals. In today's episode we discuss common hurdle when it comes to achieving our fitness and health goals.  From the over 8 years I've run my 100 DAY FIT MIND & BODY, I'm happy to share the three steps that can be taken to overcome this self-defeating behavior. First, it's crucial to identify the root cause of our self sabotage - is it a lack of motivation, fear of failure, or something else? Once we understand the source, we can start to address it and find ways to overcome it. Next, setting small, achievable goals can help us feel a sense of accomplishment as we make progress, which can keep us motivated and build momentum. Finally, seeking support from a trusted friend, family member, or professional (like a coach or therapist) can provide valuable accountability and help us stay on track and motivated on our fitness journey.

    Today is a different episode than we've had before on the podcast... I am taking a break from this podcast . I have loved creating content, doing the interviews and creating a conversation around fitness being the access point to your highest version. I am taking a pause to honour my own self care through the journey of deciding whether or not to get back surgery, an L5-S1 back fusion with a year recovery... Our health is our wealth, and this philosophy and COVID has given me an opportunity to step back and evaluate how I'm showing up to myself, my clients, my family and all of you.  And I need to practice what I preach- practicing compassion and self-care. I am taking a break from weekly podcasts to intentionally build a team for my body and my back, to build a structure of integrity so that the integrity of the broken structure of my back can be reinstated if possible. Furthermore, I am on a mission to create change in the conversation around Social Justice for Black Lives, and Indigenous Lives.  My mission involves fitness as the access point to empowering others and as such, it take a tribe, and time and resources that I dont' have the bandwidth for right now- so taking a pause from the podcast will allow for space and creation of what next. What the next conversation that will enable, inspire and move you.   Thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening, for following along and for taking a stand for yourself, your health, your fitness and your life.     Today on the best fitness podcast, The Body Project Podcast, I am looking forward to what's ahead for the podcast and How To Feel Good During COVID as we are trying to navigate a new normal.  So much has shifted in the last few years! I have grown as a brand and as a business offering transformative programs that are truly shifting the way people feel about themselves, showing people how to lose fat fast in a real, sustainable way (no gimmicks) and how to be mindful and improve their positive outlook and mindset.  The opportunity is endless when you invest in yourself and looking at our most recent PROJECT YOU program, the participants were able to dig deep and alter the trajectory of where they were going during this uncertain time.  Our health is our wealth, and that is more evident now than every before! And as such I think that we need to take responsibility for ourselves, and our health is a way that quantum shifts from what we were doing before.  Meaning that in order to feel good during COVID, and as we move our of a global pandemic, we need to invest in our health, in our longterm wellbeing and all the pillars that make up a healthy ecosystem.  A healthy ecosystem, in my eyes, exists within the sphere of our community but starts with ourselves and our families.  I believe that how you do anything is how you do everything, and if you are constantly struggling with your negative self-talk, if you struggle with self-confidence on who you are, this often seeps into how you honour your body through food and movement.  And poor mindset doesn't always mean poor eating- it shows up as addiction or obsession, that from the outside, appears as healthy- but this side is as scarcity based, ground as much in fear of failure or in a place of needing and desperately trying to be good enough...  This is a whole other conversation.  This time since the announcement of the Global Pandemic, has been an unbelievable global pause where people have stopped, people are overwhelmed and hopefully this is a reset, a global detox and an elevation, an evolution of humanity- global conscious levitation.  My intention with the podcast at the time was to support the conversation of exactly where many of you were. In a place of overwhelm, uncertainty and perhaps even fear.  The conversation shifted from only a fitness and optimization focus into a holistic approach to immune health and wellbeing during uncertainty.  I know that it has served SO many of you! And it also helped me move through things like 100 episodes, my 40th birthday and celebrating 2 year of this podcast.  I could not have done my business without you. I have new ventures that I'm taking on that is enhancing my focus and elevating my business alignment with my mission of global impact.  With this year, what has become important in optimizing is increasing access, being inclusive and being diverse in the conversation and the offering.  Yes, these are uncomfortable conversations.  But fundamentally, fitness and movement professionals are trained in coaching their clients through times of discomfort.  We actually request that our clients lean into the discomfort of movement, the discomfort of change.  And in this training and this knowing- I am putting my hand, pulling up and saying I am an Ally, I am here to get comfortable with uncomfortable conversations. I am here to be anti-racist and to promote inclusion, look at increasing accessibility to those in lower socioeconomic areas, how can we give access and diversity to those who typically don't have the financial means.     Today, on the top fitness podcast, I interview Dr. Sajjad Fazel.  Dr. Sajjad Fazel is a public health researcher in the Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research Department at Alberta Health Services. He is also the research director for Knight's Cabin – an NGO assisting cancer survivors to adopt a healthy lifestyle. His research focuses on three main areas; health promotion and misinformation, cancer prevention, and tobacco control. Sajjad is currently working with a team of researchers across Canada studying Covid-19 misinformation. He has been featured in major news outlets including BBC, CBC, Voice of America and Global News Radio.   Sajjad holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Manipal University, India and a Master of Public Health from Western University, Canada. This was a great episode asking how to systematically determine what information you should consume and how to alleviate fear and anxiety around this uncertain time.
