EP758 - The Real Cost of Big Goals (And Where to Draw the Line)

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 21, 2026 46:33

In this episode, I sat down with my cohost Craig Smith to break down my weekend at a local bodybuilding show and everything it brought up for me. We talked about how insane it is what the human body can achieve at that level—but also how misunderstood it is. A lot of people think you can just take steroids and look like that, and that's just not reality. It takes years of discipline, precision, and a level of commitment most people aren't willing to touch. That led into a bigger realization for me: I don't think I'll ever step on stage again. Not because I can't—but because I fully understand the level of sacrifice required, and I'm clear that it's not a price I'm willing to pay anymore. From there, we dove deep into the concept of sacrifice—what it actually means, how it scales with the size of your goals, and how most people say they want something without being honest about what it's going to cost them. At the end of the day, the conversation really came down to this: if you want something meaningful, it's going to require real trade-offs. And if you're not willing to make those sacrifices, you don't actually want the goal—you just like the idea of it.   Next Level Links: Work With a Nutrition Coach - Schedule A Consultation Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com   Partner Links: Try Thrive Lab Free For One Month - Start Here Order Supplements From Transform - Shop Here Order Supplements From Cured Nutrition - Shop Here Order Supplements From Legion (use code keynutrition for 20% off first order) - Shop Here   Be Featured on the Show: Apply to be a live calller guest on the show - Submit Application Here Submit Q&A Questions to be read live on the show - Submit Here   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Connect with us on Instagram: Host Brad Jensen – @thesoberbodybuilder Co-Host Craig Smith - @greatestdaymindset Next Level Nutrition – @mynextlevelnutrition

EP757 - The Power of the Heart with Dr. Bradley Nelson

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 18, 2026 61:57

In this episode, I sit down with one of the most well-known pioneers in the energy healing space, Dr. Bradley Nelson — creator of The Emotion Code and author of The Heart Code. I'll be honest… this is the kind of stuff I used to think was straight-up "woo-woo." But after having firsthand experience with energy work, I've changed my perspective — and this conversation goes deep into why. We break down how unresolved emotional experiences don't just live in your mind… they can actually get stored in your body and impact everything from your health to your relationships. Dr. Nelson explains the concept of "trapped emotions" — emotional energy that wasn't fully processed and ends up lingering in the body, potentially contributing to both emotional and physical issues.   One of the biggest takeaways from this episode is the idea of the "Heart-Wall." This is essentially a protective barrier your body builds around your heart using layers of trapped emotions — meant to protect you, but often ends up blocking connection, vulnerability, and even success.   We also dive into: Why so many people feel stuck emotionally, mentally, or even physically How past experiences may still be influencing your current behavior and relationships The role of the subconscious mind in healing Simple ways to start becoming more aware of emotional patterns How to avoid continuing to build these "walls" over time Dr. Nelson also shares insights from his newer work, The Heart Code, and gives practical takeaways for anyone looking to improve their emotional health and overall well-being. Whether you're skeptical or already open to this kind of work, this episode will challenge how you think about healing, self-awareness, and what's really holding you back. ⸻ About Dr. Bradley Nelson Dr. Bradley Nelson is a holistic chiropractor, author, and medical intuitive known for his work in energy healing. He is the creator of The Emotion Code and The Body Code, systems designed to identify and release what he calls "trapped emotions" stored in the body.   His work has been adopted by practitioners around the world and focuses on the connection between emotional energy, physical health, and overall human performance.   Next Level Links: Work With a Nutrition Coach - Schedule A Consultation Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com   Partner Links: Try Thrive Lab Free For One Month - Start Here Order Supplements From Transform - Shop Here Order Supplements From Cured Nutrition - Shop Here Order Supplements From Legion (use code keynutrition for 20% off first order) - Shop Here   Be Featured on the Show: Apply to be a live calller guest on the show - Submit Application Here Submit Q&A Questions to be read live on the show - Submit Here   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Connect with us on Instagram: Host Brad Jensen – @thesoberbodybuilder Guest Dr. Bradley Nelson - @officialdrbradleynelson Next Level Nutrition – @mynextlevelnutrition

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 7, 2026 60:27

In this Q&A episode, Craig and I dive into some of the most common struggles we're seeing right now around nutrition, training, and knowing what actually matters. We start with the all or nothing cycle. Being dialed in during the week, then losing it on the weekends and feeling like you're starting over every Monday. We break down what's really driving that pattern and how to get out of it. We talk about the frustration of putting in years of work in the gym but still feeling like you look average, and how to actually audit your approach instead of just doing more. We get into peptides and the current hype around them. Where they can actually be useful, and where people are jumping in way too early chasing an edge they haven't earned. We also hit on the cycle of losing weight and gaining it back, and why the issue usually isn't the diet itself, but something deeper that keeps repeating. There's a big conversation around the all in personality. Why going 100 percent eventually backfires, and how to find something sustainable without losing your edge. And we finish with GLP-1s. How to know if you're using them as a tool versus a crutch, and what should actually be dialed in before going that route.   Next Level Experience - Schedule a Discovery Call   Next Level Links: Work With a Nutrition Coach - Schedule A Consultation Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com   Partner Links: Try Thrive Lab Free For One Month - Start Here Order Supplements From Transform - Shop Here Order Supplements From Cured Nutrition - Shop Here Order Supplements From Legion (use code keynutrition for 20% off first order) - Shop Here   Be Featured on the Show: Apply to be a live calller guest on the show - Submit Application Here Submit Q&A Questions to be read live on the show - Submit Here   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Connect with us on Instagram: Host Brad Jensen – @thesoberbodybuilder Co-Host Craig Smith - @greatestdaymindset Next Level Nutrition – @mynextlevelnutrition

In this episode, I sit down with Mike Mills. Mike is a past participant of Next Level Experience and someone I have a ton of respect for as a man. We get into his journey over the last couple of years, including completing 75 Hard not once, but twice. But what stood out most in this conversation is that it wasn't about the physical transformation. It was about what it did for him mentally, emotionally, and the level of ownership he's now operating from. Mike shares how going through NLE helped shift his perspective and pushed him to step into a bigger version of himself. Not just for his own life, but now in the work he's doing helping other men level up across mind, body, and spirit. We also touched on something deeper. The passing of his father from ALS and how that experience forced him to take a hard look at his life. It lit a fire under him to stop waiting, stop playing small, and really take control of the direction he's heading. This is a powerful conversation about growth, responsibility, and what it actually looks like to become the man you know you're capable of being. If you're someone who knows you've got more in the tank, this one will hit.   Next Level Experience - Schedule a Discovery Call   Next Level Links: Work With a Nutrition Coach - Schedule A Consultation Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com   Partner Links: Try Thrive Lab Free For One Month - Start Here Order Supplements From Transform - Shop Here Order Supplements From Cured Nutrition - Shop Here Order Supplements From Legion (use code keynutrition for 20% off first order) - Shop Here   Be Featured on the Show: Apply to be a live calller guest on the show - Submit Application Here Submit Q&A Questions to be read live on the show - Submit Here   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Connect with us on Instagram: Host Brad Jensen – @thesoberbodybuilder Guest Mike Mills - @mmills310 Next Level Nutrition – @mynextlevelnutrition

On this episode of the Brad Jensen Show, I wrap up the final part of our 3-part NLE Boot Camp series. This one is solo. Just me tying everything together. We've already covered the emotional and mental levels in parts one and two. In this episode, I bring it all home and introduce you to the spiritual level. This is the piece most people either ignore or completely misunderstand. And it's also the piece that changes everything when you actually get it. I break down some of the core principles we teach inside Next Level Experience when it comes to spiritual alignment. Not in a fluffy, surface-level way. In a real, practical, apply-this-to-your-life kind of way. We talk about: What it actually means to be spiritually aligned Why so many high performers still feel off even when they are "winning" How your mental and emotional patterns are directly tied into your spiritual state Why chasing more without alignment will always leave you empty How to start operating with more purpose, clarity, and intention I also touch briefly on the physical level and how it all connects, because the truth is none of these operate in isolation. When one area is off, it bleeds into everything else. This episode is really about bringing full alignment into your life. Mind, body, and spirit. Not just dominating one area while the rest fall apart. And if you've been listening to this series and thinking "this is exactly what I need," then this is your sign. We are heading into what is shaping up to be the final round of Next Level Experience in 2026. If you're ready to stop half-assing certain areas of your life and actually put everything together, book a discovery call. But only do it if you're serious about doing the work. All of it. Not just the physical. This is part one of a three-part Boot Camp series where we're pulling back the curtain and giving you a real look at what we actually teach inside NLE. Not surface-level stuff. The real work. We kick things off with one of the most overlooked areas of growth… Emotional regulation and energy. We break down how your emotional state is directly tied to your results in every area of life. Your health. Your relationships. Your business. Everything. We also get into how this shows up differently for men and women, and why most people are completely unaware of what's actually driving their behaviors day to day. And we didn't just talk about it… We gave you real tools. The exact frameworks and practices we use inside Next Level Experience to help people build awareness, regulate emotions, and take back control instead of constantly reacting to life. This is the work most people avoid. But it's also the work that changes everything. Toward the end, we start bridging into relationships… which sets the tone perfectly for part two of this series. If you've ever felt like you're doing all the right things but still not getting where you want to go… This episode will show you why. The phrases that sound harmless on the surface but actually keep people stuck, playing small, and buying into their own excuses. We break down the victim mindsets, the self-sabotaging statements, and the subtle language patterns that quietly wreck progress without people even realizing it. Between my 15 years in the health and fitness space and Craig's 20 years of clinical experience, we've heard it all and today we call it out. This one is equal parts informative and funny, but also direct as hell. If you've ever caught yourself saying things like "I just can't," "this is just how I am," or "I'll start when life slows down"… this episode might hit a little close to home. And that's the point. She has publicly said, "I am responsible for where I am." And that hasn't made everyone happy. Some within the body positivity space have pushed back on her message because she refuses to play the victim. She doesn't blame anyone else for being in the position she's in. She owns it. Fully. Not only that, she started documenting her journey publicly on Instagram and TikTok to hold herself accountable. She shares the wins. The struggles. The hard truths. The uncomfortable realizations. All of it. It's a breath of fresh air. Other creators have taken notice. And for good reason. Because ownership is powerful. And as you guys know, victims never win. Shay is the furthest thing from a victim. In this conversation we talk about: What it actually feels like to top out at almost 400 pounds Why radical ownership changed everything for her The backlash she has received for refusing to blame anyone else Using social media as an accountability tool instead of a highlight reel The mindset shifts required to create real, sustainable change Why brutal honesty is one of the most underrated transformation tools This episode will challenge you. It will empower you. And most importantly, it will force you to look in the mirror and ask yourself where you might still be outsourcing responsibility in your own life. If you are serious about changing your body, your mindset, or your life, this one is for you. Own your shit. Change your life.     Next Level Links: Nutrition Coaching Free Consultations - Schedule Here Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com   Partner Links: Try Thrive  Lab Free For One Month - Start Here Order Supplements From Transform - Shop Here Order Supplements From Cured Nutrition - Shop Here Order Supplements From Legion (use code keynutrition for 20% off first order) - Shop Here   Be Featured on the Show: Apply to be a live calller guest on the show - Submit Application Here Submit Q&A Questions to be read live on the show - Submit Here   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Connect with us on Instagram: Host Brad Jensen – @thesoberbodybuilder Guest Shaylyn - @shaygrounded Next Level Nutrition – @mynextlevelnutrition

EP743 - The Top Mistakes People Make When Taking a GLP-1 Medication

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 18, 2026 52:23

In this episode of The Brad Jensen Show, Craig and I break down the top five mistakes people are making while on GLP 1 medications. This episode is a spinoff from the masterclass I taught earlier this month, but we go much deeper here. We unpack not just what the mistakes are, but why they are happening and how to fix them. GLP 1s can be powerful tools. But they are not magic. And if you do not approach them with intention, structure, and a long term strategy, you can easily create bigger problems down the road. Craig shares his firsthand experience being on a GLP 1 and gives honest insight into mistakes he now realizes he made along the way. That perspective alone makes this episode incredibly valuable. Here's what we cover: The biggest nutrition mistake people make on GLP 1s and why low appetite does not mean low responsibility Why muscle loss is a very real risk and how to protect your metabolism The training errors that sabotage long term results The psychological trap of relying on the medication instead of building identity based habits Why most people have no exit strategy and what happens when they come off We also talk about sustainability, protein targets, resistance training, biofeedback, mindset shifts, and why GLP 1s should enhance your discipline, not replace it. If you are currently on a GLP 1, considering one, or coaching clients who are, this is a must listen. Our goal is simple: Use the tool intelligently. Build the habits permanently. Keep the results long term. As always, if this episode helped you, share it with someone who needs to hear it and tag us on Instagram with your biggest takeaway.   Next Level Links: Nutrition Coaching Free Consultations - Schedule Here Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com   Partner Links: Try Thrive  Lab Free For One Month - Start Here Order Supplements From Transform - Shop Here Order Supplements From Cured Nutrition - Shop Here Order Supplements From Legion (use code keynutrition for 20% off first order) - Shop Here   Be Featured on the Show: Apply to be a live calller guest on the show - Submit Application Here Submit Q&A Questions to be read live on the show - Submit Here   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Connect with us on Instagram: Host Brad Jensen – @thesoberbodybuilder Co-Host Craig Smith - @greatestdaymindset Next Level Nutrition – @mynextlevelnutrition

In this episode of The Brad Jensen Show, I sit down with my friend Jack Hollow, a nutrition coach and personal trainer out of the great country of Australia. Jack and I originally connected on Instagram because we realized we see the world of health and fitness through a very similar lens. No fluff. No extremes. No chasing trends. Just principles that actually work. This conversation goes way beyond sets, reps, and macros. We break down some of the most dangerous trends circulating in the fitness industry right now. From extreme dieting approaches to all-or-nothing mindsets, we talk about why so many people are being pulled in the wrong direction and what actually creates sustainable results. We also dive into something that doesn't get talked about enough: mental health as a coach. What does it really look like to hold space for clients? How do you manage your own stress while helping others manage theirs? Where is the line between coaching, therapy, and responsibility? Jack shares his perspective from working with clients in Australia, and I share what I've seen building Next Level Nutrition and working with driven dads who are trying to balance performance, family, and identity. Toward the end, the conversation naturally shifts into something deeper. We talk about growth outside of fitness. Identity. Purpose. Faith. Responsibility. What it actually means to live in alignment. It turned into one of those conversations that reminds you this work is about so much more than body fat percentage. If you're a coach, a high performer, or someone trying to build a stronger body and a stronger mind at the same time, this one will hit.   Next Level Links: Nutrition Coaching Free Consultations - Schedule Here Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com   Partner Links: Try Thrive  Lab Free For One Month - Start Here Order Supplements From Transform - Shop Here Order Supplements From Cured Nutrition - Shop Here Order Supplements From Legion (use code keynutrition for 20% off first order) - Shop Here   Be Featured on the Show: Apply to be a live calller guest on the show - Submit Application Here Submit Q&A Questions to be read live on the show - Submit Here   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Connect with us on Instagram: Host Brad Jensen – @thesoberbodybuilder Guest Jack Hallows - @jackhallowsfitness Next Level Nutrition – @mynextlevelnutrition

In this week's Q&A episode on The Brad Jensen Show, Craig and I sat down and answered some of the most real world questions we see from clients, coaches, and high performers trying to level up across life. We talked about the hardest part of starting a business and honestly, it usually is not strategy. It is managing uncertainty, self doubt, and staying consistent when results are not immediate. We shared what challenged us the most early on and what we wish we knew sooner. We also dug into client retention as a personal trainer or coach. I broke down what actually keeps people long term and it is not just workouts or macros. It is connection, trust, and helping people become someone new, not just do something new. We answered the question of whether lifting six days per week is too much. Like most things in fitness, it depends. We talked about recovery, training intent, life stress, and how to know if you are progressing or just surviving workouts. Another big topic was how long someone should realistically work with a coach. We talked about when coaching becomes less about information and more about identity, accountability, and long term lifestyle integration. Craig brought a really powerful lens to the conversation around avoidant tendencies and how they show up everywhere. Not just relationships, but business, health, communication, and even goal setting. We talked about how to recognize those patterns and what to do when you see them. We also touched on a handful of other training and nutrition questions that came up from listeners and clients this week. If you are trying to build something, improve your body, or just become more self aware in how you move through life, this episode will hit.

On this episode of The Brad Jensen Show, I sat down with Joe Sheehey, owner and founder of Cured Nutrition, to talk about something that could massively impact the hemp and wellness space heading into late 2026. We broke down the new hemp ban set to go into effect in November 2026. This was quietly slipped into the "Big Beautiful Bill" and, if nothing changes, it has the potential to wipe out roughly 95% of the hemp industry as it currently stands. Joe shared what this could mean not only for businesses like his, but for consumers who rely on responsibly dosed hemp derived products for sleep, stress management, and overall wellbeing. We also had an honest conversation about responsibility inside the industry. Not all companies have operated with integrity. Some pushed extremely high THC doses chasing profit, which ultimately put the entire industry at risk. We contrasted that with companies like Cured, who have always focused on very low, fractional microdose levels of THC paired with high quality CBD to create therapeutic benefit without pushing boundaries that create harm. Joe shared what listeners can actually do if they care about protecting access to responsibly made hemp products. From staying informed, to contacting legislators, to supporting companies who operate ethically, there are ways for everyday people to make a difference. One of the most powerful parts of this conversation was hearing Joe talk about what this season has taught him personally. Facing the potential loss of a business he has spent the last decade building has forced him into deeper reflection, deeper faith, and a stronger connection to God. Instead of reacting from fear, he talked about choosing clarity, purpose, and trust in the lessons being revealed through this challenge. This is a conversation about business, responsibility, resilience, and what it really looks like to stay grounded when everything you've built feels like it's on the line. Learning to disconnect from outside noise and focus on what I actually have power over. We live in a time where we are constantly being pulled into things we cannot control. News cycles, social media outrage, other people's opinions, and problems that are way bigger than any one person. And yet we give them our energy every single day. In this episode, I talk about the idea of powerlessness and how much freedom comes when you stop fighting what you cannot change. I share how the Serenity Prayer has had a profound impact on my life and how it continues to guide my decision making, my emotional state, and how I show up as a father, coach, and human. We talk about why trying to control everything is one of the fastest ways to feel anxious, angry, and burnt out. And why real peace comes from putting your attention back on the few things that are actually in your control. Your effort Your consistency Your actions Your behaviors Your integrity This episode is an invitation to stop carrying weight that was never yours to hold and to start building your life around what you can influence. Because when you stop wasting energy on what you cannot change, life starts working with you instead of against you. As coaches, creators, and people with platforms, there can be an unspoken expectation to have an opinion on everything. Every headline. Every trend. Every crisis. And if you don't speak up, people are quick to assume you don't care. We talk about why that isn't true. Choosing not to emotionally attach yourself to every outside circumstance does not mean you lack empathy. It means you're being intentional with where you place your energy, attention, and emotional bandwidth. We dive into the difference between caring deeply and carrying everything. How constant emotional reactivity can drain you. And why learning to detach from what you can't control is often the healthiest move you can make. This episode is for anyone who feels overwhelmed by the noise, pressured to perform opinions, or stuck feeling emotionally hijacked by things outside of their control. Dr Robyn has spent her entire career studying why humans behave the way they do, what actually drives real behavior change, and why some people seem naturally more resilient than others. We get into the science behind resilience, but also the very real, very practical application of it in everyday life. We talk about why motivation alone is unreliable, how environment and identity shape our choices far more than willpower, and what resilient people are doing differently when life gets hard. We also unpack how resilience is not something you either have or don't have, but a skill set that can be intentionally built over time. This conversation goes deep into stress, emotional regulation, adaptability, and how our nervous system plays a role in how we respond to adversity. We also discuss common misconceptions around resilience, why pushing harder is often the wrong answer, and how small shifts in awareness and behavior can create massive long term change. If you've ever felt stuck in old patterns, burned out, overwhelmed, or frustrated that you know what to do but struggle to follow through, this episode will hit home. We talk about the good, the bad, and the flat out ridiculous when it comes to interacting online and how easy it is for negativity to creep in if you're not intentional. The core of the episode dives into relationships, boundaries, and the people you choose to keep around you. With the new year approaching, we talk about the importance of auditing your circle, both in real life and online. This isn't about aggressively cutting people out or burning bridges, but learning how to set healthy boundaries and protect your energy. We share personal stories and perspectives on dealing with negative influences, surrounding yourself with people who elevate you, and being honest about who actually supports your growth versus who drains it. We also talk about how this applies to your social media feeds and why curating what you consume mentally matters just as much as who you spend time with physically. We wrap things up with a reminder to be intentional as you head into the new year. Your goals, your growth, and your peace are all influenced by who you allow close to you. Choose wisely. As always, plenty of laughs, real talk, and honest conversation along the way.   Next Level Links: Nutrition Coaching Free Consultations - Schedule Here Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com   Partner Links: Try Thrive  Lab Free For One Month - Start Here Order Supplements From Transform - Shop Here Order Supplements From Cured Nutrition - Shop Here Order Supplements From Legion (use code keynutrition for 20% off first order) - Shop Here   Be Featured on the Show: Apply to be a live guest on the show - Submit Application Here Submit Q&A Questions to be read live on the show - Submit Here   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Connect with us on Instagram: Host Brad Jensen – @thesoberbodybuilder Co-Host Craig Smith - @greatestdaymindset Next Level Nutrition – @mynextlevelnutrition

In this episode of The Brad Jensen Show, Craig Smith and I dive into a conversation most people are afraid to have out loud. We start by breaking down the recent firing of University of Michigan head coach Sherone Moore and the ripple effect that happens when integrity slips. Not just in leadership or sports, but in life. We talk about how fast things can unravel when your actions and values stop lining up, and why integrity always catches up to you, one way or another. From there, we transition into the core of the episode and it's a big one. We tackle the taboo topic of losing physical attraction to your partner after they've let themselves go. This is something so many people experience, but almost no one talks about honestly. We break down why this happens, how resentment quietly builds, and why pretending it's not an issue only makes things worse. We talk about personal responsibility, standards, and the difference between unconditional love and enabling unhealthy behavior. We also get into the hard but necessary conversation around when and how to communicate this with your partner. How to approach it with honesty instead of cruelty. Leadership instead of criticism. And how attraction, effort, and self respect are deeply connected. This episode isn't about shaming anyone. It's about truth. Growth. And having the courage to address things before they quietly destroy relationships. If you're in a relationship, this is one you need to hear.   Next Level Links Nutrition Coaching Free Consultations - Schedule Here Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com   Try Thrive  Lab Free For One Month - Start Here Order Supplements From Transform Order from Cured Supplement Order from Legion Supplements and get 20% off your first order by using discount code: keynutrition   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide   Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Submit your questions to be featured on our Q&A episodes.   Connect with us on Instagram Host Brad Jensen – @thesoberbodybuilder Co-Host Craig Smith - @greatestdaymindset Next Level Nutrition – @mynextlevelnutrition

In this solo episode of The Brad Jensen Show, I go on one of my classic rants while answering two of the most common questions I get asked all the time. First, we talk metabolism. What it actually is. Why almost everyone misunderstands it. And why blaming your metabolism is usually a convenient excuse instead of the real problem. I break down what's really driving fat loss, energy, and body composition and why the internet has completely overcomplicated this topic. Then I shift gears into a conversation most people need to hear but don't want to. The difference between true burnout and plain old laziness. I walk through how to honestly assess where you're at, when rest is actually earned, and when you need to stop negotiating with yourself and channel your inner David Goggins. If you've been feeling stuck, tired, frustrated, or confused about why progress feels harder than it should, this episode will hit home. What I Cover In This Episode What metabolism actually is and what it is not The biggest misconceptions keeping people stuck and frustrated Why most "slow metabolism" claims are misunderstood The real levers that drive fat loss and energy How to tell the difference between burnout and avoidance Signs you genuinely need rest versus when discipline is missing Why comfort is often disguised as self care How to know when it's time to push instead of pause   Next Level Links Nutrition Coaching Free Consultations - Schedule Here Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com   Try Thrive  Lab Free For One Month - Start Here Order Supplements From Transform Order from Cured Supplement Order from Legion Supplements and get 20% off your first order by using discount code: keynutrition   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide   Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Submit your questions to be featured on our Q&A episodes.   Connect with us on Instagram Host Brad Jensen – @thesoberbodybuilder Co-Host Craig Smith - @greatestdaymindset Next Level Nutrition – @mynextlevelnutrition

We kicked things off by diving into GLP medications and the big conversation around sustainability. We talked about who they actually make sense for, the mindset traps people fall into, and what long term success looks like beyond just the scale. From there, we broke down my three rules for life and how those simple principles can anchor you when everything else feels chaotic. We also got into the most overrated exercises in the gym and why the flashy stuff you see on social media rarely moves the needle like people think. Another big part of the discussion was the overlap between fitness and relationships How your habits affect your partner, how communication matters more than macros, and how to stay aligned when you and your significant other might be in different "seasons." We wrapped with practical strategies for balancing a busy life Running businesses, being parents, staying consistent, and not losing your identity in the chaos. On this week's episode, Craig and I kick things off with a solid twenty minutes of pure holiday chaos and friendly rambling while we try to settle one of the most important debates of our generation. We attempt to figure out what the best Christmas movie of all time actually is. We share some nostalgia, some questionable takes, and way too many opinions for two grown men. From there, I shift gears and play a viral clip from an influencer on Instagram that got both of us thinking. We dive into the whole idea of "pretty privilege," how it shows up in real life, and what having actual standards looks like today. We also start talking about the "skinny tok" wave that's popping up on Instagram. I break down why these extreme aesthetic trends always seem to come in cycles, why they can be dangerous when you make your looks your entire identity, and how easy it is to get wrapped up in something that's only one small part of the overall truth. At the end of the day, that's the whole theme of this episode. Something can be true, but that doesn't mean it's the whole truth. And when any one thing becomes your whole personality — whether it's fitness, looks, validation, or even self-improvement — it usually becomes the thing that breaks you instead of builds you. Today I sat down with Chris Martin, a trainer who has built a massive presence online by doing something rare in today's fitness space. Telling the truth. Chris holds multiple personal training certifications and has made a name for himself by calling out the nonsense that keeps people stuck. He is blunt. He is honest. And he does not sugarcoat a thing. You probably know him from his viral reel where he said that if you are obese, maybe you should not be personal training people yet. That clip blew up for a reason. Chris says what most people are thinking but are too afraid to say. He is not scared of controversy because he cares more about helping people than protecting feelings. This was a real conversation. Two guys who love this industry. Two guys who want it to get better. And two guys who are not interested in status quo advice. We talked about the problems in the fitness space today, why honesty is the greatest form of respect, and what people actually need if they want to change their life. Not coddling. Not hand holding. Truth. There are going to be takeaways for trainers. Takeaways for everyday people trying to get healthy. And takeaways for anyone who wants to see fitness through a clearer, more grounded lens. Chris and I covered everything from identity to accountability to how the online world has distorted what real coaching even is anymore. If you are tired of watered down messages. If you want straight talk. If you want to hear two people who are not afraid to say the uncomfortable thing if it helps someone grow. You are going to love this episode. Tune in. I break down what most people actually mean when they say they are "in starvation mode" and why the vast majority simply are not in a consistent calorie deficit. I also get into why honesty in tracking and daily habits matters way more than blaming your metabolism. But I also address the very small subset of people who really do experience something real. What I call conservation mode. I explain exactly what is happening in the body when you diet aggressively for long periods of time. How metabolic adaptation works. How stress, low calories, and low energy intake can down regulate output without you noticing. And why this can create the illusion that fat loss has stalled. I walk through the key signs of conservation mode and how to course correct. More movement. Better recovery. Smarter refeeds. Tightening up tracking. Giving your metabolism and stress system some breathing room so the body feels safe to let go of fat again. This episode will help you understand the truth behind starvation mode, the difference between excuses and physiology, and how to get fat loss moving again if you are truly stuck. Tune in. This was one of those solo episodes where I just hit record and let it rip. A little humor. A little education. A little ranting. A little real life. I kicked things off talking about how insanely hard it actually is to accidentally get too jacked in the gym. The amount of people who are terrified of getting bulky from a few weeks of lifting still blows my mind. If only it were that easy. If anything, it was your reminder that building real muscle takes intention, consistency, and way more effort than most people think. I also shared a funny story from my trip to Scottsdale and the conversation I had on the plane with a gentleman who clearly needed Nutrition 101. It was a great reminder that we forget how confusing this whole world of macros, calories, and food choices still is for the average person. Sometimes we have to slow down and keep things simple. There are still a lot of people out there just trying to figure out the basics. And of course, I touched on tipping culture and how wild it has gotten. When the screen flips around asking for a twenty five percent tip and the person literally did nothing but hand you a bottle of water. It drives me crazy and I had some thoughts to get off my chest. We started by talking about the biggest lie we've been told about success, and what true success actually looks like when you strip away all the noise. From there, we dove into how to navigate nutrition in social settings — how to stay on track without being the weird one at dinner, and how to get rid of that all-or-nothing mindset when you're out with friends or family. Craig shared some insight on how to find time to eat as a busy therapist, which honestly applies to anyone juggling work, family, and life. It turned into a bigger conversation about how to actually prioritize yourself even when things feel chaotic. And we wrapped up by getting into what men struggle with most emotionally and why — the stuff most guys don't talk about, but really should. This one covers everything from mindset and success to nutrition and emotional growth. It's honest, it's raw, and it'll definitely make you think.   Join our Next Level Presale - Schedule Here   Next Level Links Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com Nutrition Coaching Free Consultations - Schedule Here Next Level Experience Waitlist - Join Here   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide   Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Submit your questions to be featured on our Q&A episodes.   Order Supplements From Transform Order from Cured Supplement Order from Legion Supplements and get 20% off your first order by using discount code: keynutrition   Connect with us on Instagram Host Brad Jensen – @thesoberbodybuilder Co-Host Craig Smith - @greatestdaymindset Next Level Nutrition – @mynextlevelnutrition

On this episode of the Next Level Health & Fitness Podcast, Brad Jensen and cohost Craig Smith dive into a topic that goes deeper than just workouts and macros—spiritual health. We explore how strengthening your spirit plays a powerful role in transforming not only your mindset but also your physical health journey. Many people focus only on the physical or even mental side of growth, but when your spiritual health is neglected, you're missing a key pillar that supports everything else. Craig and I break down: What “spiritual health” really means (without attaching it to any one religion). How finding your path—whatever that looks like for you—can bring clarity, resilience, and purpose. The direct ways spiritual well-being influences physical results, from motivation to stress management. Practical steps to strengthen your spiritual connection and integrate it into your daily life. If you've ever felt like you're doing “everything right” physically but still feel stuck or unfulfilled, this episode will show you why your spirit might be the missing piece—and how aligning it can unlock the next level of your health journey.   Next Level Links Nutrition Coaching - www.becomenextlevel.com Nutrition Coaching Free Consultations - Schedule Here Next Level Experience Waitlist - Join Here   Free Guides: Eating Out Guide - Get The Guide High-Protein Fast Food Orders - Get the Guide Macro Food Options Guide - Get The Guide   Join Us On Patreon - Join Here   Submit your questions to be featured on our Q&A episodes.
