Today Lisa continues her conversation with mega-bestselling author Dr Wayne Dyer about the power of intention, and how we can learn to create a life we love. Wayne, a dear friend of The Aware Show, joins us again to share his stories that create healing for all of us. He is one of the most popular best-selling authors and lecturers on spiritually motivational topics, and he will discuss how to look at life's challenges and see the spiritual blessings and answers. Wayne talks about questioning your spirituality, especially when negative circumstances occur. If you feel you have experienced a series of misfortunes, he suggests stopping and reminding yourself that this is a universe of abundance. Ask “what am I doing to attract this?” then aim to bring in a Higher Energy. Stop yourself and put things into perspective. Believe that things will improve. Wayne reminds us that we become what we think about. He advises us to put a picture on the refrigerator of how you would like to be. Use the “Power of Intention” and stay connected to Source Energy. Know that you are stronger than any addiction. Go to God for assistance. He also reminds us that for every act of evil, there are millions of acts of kindness, all over the world. “We now understand in the rapidly growing field of traumatology, those kinds of traumas can be more damaging to our nervous system regulation and the state of our brain than adverse childhood experiences.” - Dr. Lissa Rankin Dr. Lissa Rankin didn't expect to go down a particular path when she left her promising career as an OBGYN in 2007. The plan was to focus on her own health and well-being during a two-year sabbatical, but she soon came face-to-face with people who were doing all the right things – eating well, yoga, and other popular wellness practices – yet they were some of the sickest people she had ever met. When she started asking them deep-rooted questions about their lives, her passion and purpose suddenly revealed itself. She realized what was holding people back from feeling better – developmental trauma. In today's episode, Dr. Michelle Robin invites Dr. Rankin to unpack the story behind what made her go around the globe to collect tools from the world's medicine bag (from experts, traditions, faith healers, spiritual healers, energy healers). She was on a quest to find out how these things could transform lives – especially for those who weren't aware they experienced developmental trauma growing up. She'll also share about her latest book release called Sacred Medicine, and why developmental trauma is such a danger to our nervous system and our brain health. We need a whole system. Energy Medicine is valid and a part of all healing and needs to find its way into our healthcare services, along with the doctors. Our outcomes would be significantly better. My hope is that if I can shine my light by sharing these teachings, it can help you to shine your light and together we can create a healthier world all around. This extraordinary conversation between mind-body physician and author Dr. Lissa Rankin, MD, and NARM creator Dr. Laurence Heller, PhD. centers around healing through the integration of western and non-western healing modalities. Dr. Rankin believes that to optimize healing it takes an integrated approach between the sciences, traumatology, spirituality, and collective healing. Dr. Heller acknowledges the powerful overlap between these approaches, and more specifically shares how science is now validating the various forms of complex trauma that NARM addresses, for example, working with pre and perinatal trauma. Dr. Rankin reflects on her own experiences with developmental trauma. She distinguishes the type of trauma she experienced compared to the trauma that was assessed in the ACES study. She further explains that despite having an ACE score of 0, she still believes she experienced developmental trauma. She compares her trauma to what NARM calls the Attunement Survival Style. Dr. Heller acknowledges the distinction she is drawing and the limitations that the ACE study has when it comes to children experiencing misattunement. They reflect together on how there is a spectrum of experiences that can create developmental trauma and the importance of expanding the definition of complex trauma. Dr. Rankin and Dr. Heller reflect on the various ways they're both working to make trauma healing more accessible. They discuss the importance of shifting the paradigm from chronic stress to relational health, and that if we can educate frontline workers about how to assess trauma and how to support relational health, we can increase the amount of support people are receiving and start to address trauma collectively. Empathy is more than just how we live and interact with one another. It is also related to technology, products, and our stewardship of the environment. Today, I speak with James Ehrlich, whose extraordinary innovation in neighborhood design fits in with this empathetic style of living. James talks about his “smart neighborhood” that nourishes itself and lives in harmony with the environment to create its own sustainable and organic food sources, and uses technology to ensure everyone has the equitable resources they need to thrive. Even more than that, these neighborhoods and villages not only leverage amazing, unprecedented technology, they also redefine “community” and recreate a full story arc in a compassionate, and empathetic way. Key Takeaways:As living organisms, we have never, in history, been more disassociated from the natural world, but we can change that. It is the element of imagination and possibility combined that are needed to move civilization forward. We will start seeing these neighborhoods of the future become more commonplace in the next five to ten years. "We want to see communities as a full story arc. That is compassionate, empathic living." — James Ehrlich About James Ehrlich:James Ehrlich is Founder of ReGen Villages Holding, B.V. a Stanford University spin-off company formed in the EU to realize the future of living in regenerative and resilient communities, with critical life support of organic food, clean water, renewable energy and circular nutritional flows at the neighborhood scale. Mr. Ehrlich Ehrlich founded ReGen Villages as a Dutch (EU) impact-profit company in 2016, with its patented VillageOS™ operating system software to use artificial intelligence and machine learning to define, design and autonomously manage regenerative neighborhoods that promote healthy long-term outcomes for residents and wider communities. ReGen Villages are planned for global replication and scale in collaboration with established industrial partners, universities, governments and sovereign wealth and pension funds, enabling an optimistic post-COVID green transition.Mr. Ehrlich is a serial entrepreneur in software and media, with over 15-years case study research on organic, bio-dynamic family farms, intentional communities, ecovillages, co-living and collaborative communities. bengreenfieldfitness.com/jimfadiman I get tons of questions about microdosing - specifically, microdosing with psychedelics or plant medicines such as lithium, psilocybin, LSD, san pedro, DMT, ibogaine, and beyond. My guest on today's podcast, Jim Fadiman, PhD, has a host of information on microdosing psychedelics in both his books and also at MicrodosingPsychedelics.com and is considered to be one of the world's leading experts on psychedelics and plant medicine, and has developed some particularly helpful and effective microdosing protocols. James holds degrees from Harvard and Stanford and wrote his entire dissertation about LSD-assisted therapy. As well as holding consulting, training, counseling and editorial jobs, he has taught in psychology and design engineering at San Francisco State, Brandeis, and Stanford and, for three decades, taught Sufism and other classes at Sophia University that he co-founded. He has published textbooks, professional books, a self-help book, a novel, a produced play and videos including: Drugs: The Children are Choosing for National Public Television. He was featured in a National Geographic documentary and had three solo shows of his nature photography. He has been involved in researching microdosing psychedelics since 2010. His most recent books are: The Psychedelic Explorer’s Guide: Safe, Therapeutic, and Sacred Journeys and Your Symphony of Selves: Discover and Understand More of Who We Are (with Jordan Gruber). Scientific Problem Solving with Psychedelics James will describe how to best use psychoactive materials for enhanced problem solving, a poorly understood and under-researched area. However, there are established methods that open minds to useful solutions for real problems. He will share his personal experience as part of a group that established the basic guidelines: set and setting, substance and dosage, as well as whatever else was necessary to effectively dissolve barriers to solving hard science problems. James Fadiman, PhD completed his dissertation at Stanford on the effectiveness of LSD-assisted therapy just as all research was shut down. During the subsequent 40-year lull, he has held a variety of teaching, consulting, training, counseling, and editorial positions. He has taught in psychology departments and design engineering, and for the past three decades at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now Sofia University) that he co-founded. He has published textbooks, professional books, a self-help book, a novel, and a series of videos ("Drugs: The Children are Choosing") for National Public Television. His books have been published in eight languages. He was featured in a National Geographic documentary and had three solo shows of his nature photography. He sits on two non-profit boards and has been the president of several small natural resource companies. He was involved in researching psychedelics for spiritual, therapeutic, and creative uses when it was legal, and recently published The Psychedelic Explorer's Guide: Safe, Therapeutic, and Sacred Journeys and released a series of videos (with Kokyo Henkel) on Buddhism and Psychedelics. He is now conducting surveys of psychedelic use and has pioneered research on micro-dosing of a number of substances for a host of conditions (jamesfadiman.com).

A team of eight students have been examining a script from the Young American Heroes Project on Frederick Douglas. They are going to send their suggestions to the production team when finished. Today they had the opportunity to interview Professor Alibrandi from Fairfield University who is working with the production company, Palace Production Center. "Palace Production Center, an award-winning Connecticut media company is teaming with Fairfield University Graduate School of Education, CPTV, and a team of top historians from places like Yale University and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History to create a breakthrough multi-platform project to help teach history and civics to middle school students. Called Young American Heroes (YAH), the project is one of only a handful funded last year by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in a national competition that drew 80 entries. YAH seeks to set up a new paradigm for education...breaking down the walls...going directly to teachers to get their input...and finding students where they live 24/7 on their I-Pods and cell phones...speaking to them in peer based language. " http://www.cpbn.org/young-american-heroes The film is scheduled to be aired on National Public Television next year.
