Forrest Gump. Winner of 6 Academy Awards. Beloved by many. On many "Greatest Films" list. Shown in schools either as a history assignment or just so the teacher can take a break for a moment. So good even Newt Gingrich was inspired! But is it good? Is it worth this adoration? Cameron Shuman joins hosts Caitlin and Joey as they discuss in depth why they think Forrest Gump falls flat, and why they feel the film decides to make a conscious effort to stay neutral on so many historically important and volatile moments. The romantic comedy is a very old genre, starting with the likes of Harold Lloyd, popularized through screwball comedies in the 30s and 40s, and brought into modern times by directors like Judd Apatow. One of the most cathartic genres (when done correctly) is easily the vigilante film. But what separates vigilante justice from simple revenge? How are female vigilantes different from male vigilantes? And how does the constantly shifting opinion on law enforcement inform the morals surrounding these high-octane action adventures? We do our best to answer these questions and more when we discuss Rolling Thunder (1977), Promising Young Woman (2020), The Dark Knight (2008), Miss Meadows (2014), and many more. Spoiled in this episode: Miss Meadows Email us at boothwindow@gmail.com, and/or follow us on social media @theobveeus and @caitlinstow

Come with us back in time to the 1990s; a time of white picket fences, kids ruling the world, and a lot of depressed dads. That's right, we're talking about family films! Specifically those made during one of the most prolific decades for film production. We touch on some of our childhood favorites, but mostly we ponder what was happening in the industry to encourage such a boom in PG storytelling, and why that trend hasn't kept up today.
