All That We Destroy - "She Seems Real" Wonderful near future Lo-Fi Sci-Fi at it's best - ALL THAT WE DESTROY (2019). How far will she go to save him from himself? Probably too far...but you'll need to dig into our new episode to find out!Be sure to also check out our conversation with Chelsea on our show HORROR X that is produced in conjunction with the George A. It's showtime! This week's co-host is Chelsea Stardust, director of the horror comedy Satanic Panic, along with All That We Destroy, which was part of Blumhouse's Into the Dark series on Hulu. The character that made her feel seen? Fellow goth only-child Lydia Deetz of Beetlejuice, of course. Long before she was a rising star in horror cinema, Chelsea was a Midwestern kid with a love for the strange and unusual. The first time she saw Beetlejuice, she recognized herself in young Lydia Deetz, from her dark sensibilities to her love of photography. In This week, Chelsea tells Jordan what she learned by embracing her inner Lydia.Plus (speaking of Showtime): How is Jordan feeling now that Season One of Yellowjackets is in the books? Satisfied? Bereft? Reeling? Well stay tuned and she'll tell you! Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and FacebookWith Jordan Crucchiola and Chelsea Stardust

The time is nigh! From the black and white world, Candace and Ariel are hanging out with filmmaker Chelsea Stardust for our annual Vintage Halloween episode, where we discuss some of the most festive pre-1970 horror films. Get ready for this triple feature - spanning three decades, we've got atmospheric and suspenseful psychological classic Cat People (1942), followed by Hammer campfest The Curse of Frankenstein (1952 - and in color!), in which Peter Cushing is toxic in his little outfits. Last up, low-budget indie nightmare of our hearts, Carnival of Souls (1962). In case you're wondering, there is a common theme in these movies, but you gotta listen to find out. We can't just give you everything in the description, okay? We can give you Chelsea's amazing Halloween mix though! [do we just put a link to the dropbox? idk] You can also check out our other episodes featuring Chelsea's movies here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-am-your-mother-all-that-we-destroy-and-we-need-to/id1484828490?i=1000521133594 and here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cult-comedies-satanic-panic-we-summon-the-darkness-w/id1484828490?i=1000522933073. This week in the cellar, ghost hosts, Kim & Ket, are joined by Chelsea Stardust and Hayley Griffith. Chelsea is a Los Angeles filmmaker responsible for such films as All that we Destroy and Satanic Panic. Chelsea even lured the star of Satanic Panic, Hayley Griffith, down to the cellar with her! Hayley is an actress from the Big Apple. They're both the latest victims of the Quiz Show Killer. Will Chelsea and Hayley survive the cellar and escape with their lives? Or will Kim & Ket finally get to have that old school slumber party! Let's play Oujia! Spoiler alert: we're calling ourselves. Chelsea Stardust @chelseastardust Chelsea Stardust has been a horror film fan since the age of 10 when her father showed her George Romero's Night of the Living Dead and Tod Browning's Dracula. When she wasn't racing sled dogs in the snowy Midwest, Chelsea consumed all the cinema she could get her hands on. During high school she attended night classes at the Cleveland Institute of Art, where she assisted filmmaker Robert Banks Jr. in shooting Super 8 experimental horror films. Robert also introduced her to films like Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Larry Cohen's God Told Me To and Wes Craven's The Hills Have Eyes. After high school, Chelsea attended Ohio University's Honors Tutorial College School of Film program where she focused on Directing. Upon graduating, Chelsea moved to sunny Los Angeles to pursue her filmmaking dreams. After working for comedy legends Ivan Reitman and Judd Apatow, Chelsea found her horror home at Blumhouse Productions (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Sinister, The Purge, Get Out, Split, Us) where she served as the executive assistant to Jason Blum for several year. She also shadowed Adam Robitel on the 2018 Blumhouse film Insidious:The Last Key. Since leaving her post at Blumhouse Productions, Chelsea started directing full time. Chelsea released four short films on Crypt TV, Slay Per View, Marco Polo, Project Hope, Under The Bed, which have exceeded over 1M views. She also directed a horror/musical/comedy for the stage titled Slashed! The Musical for the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival, which was nominated for Best Musical, Screamiest Show and won the Encore Award. She also directed the holiday-horror radio play Christmas Eve for Earbud Theater, which was released in December 2017 to rave reviews. Chelsea's first feature film, the science fiction thriller All That We Destroy, was part of the Blumhouse Into The Dark series and is currently available on Hulu. Her second feature film, the horror comedy Satanic Panic, written by novelist Grady Hendrix and produced by Fangoria, is currently streaming on Shudder and is also available on blu-ray and VHS. She is repped by United Talent Agency and Heroes & Villains Entertainment. Hayley Griffith @hayl_griffith Hayley Griffith is an actor living New York City. Hayley made her film debut in 2019 as Sam in Satanic Panic, which was directed by Chelsea Stardust! Happy Mother’s Day, ghouls. We at Not Your Final Girl are keen to delve into some of the less palatable experiences of motherhood, such as when your kid just has extremely bad vibes. Candace and Ariel are talking about the violent and sci-fi tinged Into the Dark installation All That We Destroy (2019) and the movie that inducted Tilda Swinton into horror mom-dom: We Need to Talk About Kevin. Aside from covering goo-based life forms, unsettlingly tiny shirts, people named Ezra, nature vs nurture, and possible either communing with the dead or uploaded consciousness, we also get into our own personal childhood horror stories. Because we’ve all got em, don’t we? Hopefully not as bad as Kevin or Spencer, but still, kids are a horror on their own. Also please, please if you have some dad-centered horror for us to cover for Father’s Day, hit us up. Not enough horror dads exist, and it’s a damn shame. We're incredibly excited to share our 50th episode with special guest the talented and multi-hyphenate Sean Keller. He co-wrote the screenplay to Dario Argento's Giallo and last year's Into the Dark episode "All That We Destroy" but he's also a musician. His latest Halloween album called Revenge of the Killer Sounds of Halloween debuts September 22nd! Not only did we get a sneak peak but we are sharing MB and Terry's favorite song off the album "You Won't See Me." Oh yeah...and Sean ALSO created our theme song. After discussing his career, we turn our attention to Beneath the Planet of the Apes a film that surprises even in 2020 with its anti-war and anti-ignorance themes. Religions, war and anti-thought scientists get taken to task as we unpack the WTFery of it all. Chelsea Stardust is the director of two new fantastic horror features; FANGORIA's Satanic Panic and Blumhouse's All That We Destroy. Chelsea began her career working for Ivan Reitman before moving on to Blumhouse where she was a personal assistant to Jason Blum for years, during which she learned an incredible amount about the business of horror. With the release of two new feature films in less than a year, Chelsea's been on fire! We got to chat about her career history and what she's learned from working with industry forces like Ivan Reitman, Dallas Sonnier, and Jason Blum. We also chatted extensively about Satanic Panic, and what she has in store next. But first, here are some key insights from this conversation with Chelsea Stardust: Work at a company that will invest in you. Jason Blum knew that Chelsea wanted to be a director, so he did everything in his power to give her hands-on experience and was a mentor to her while she worked as his executive assistant. People like Jason Blum, who care about their employees' career development to this degree are very rare in Hollywood but they do exist. Try to find them and work for them in any way possible. Talk through everything with the writers. Talk through every last word of the script with the writers so you can comprehend every element of nuance, story, and subtext. This will enable you to extend the script's deeper meaning to your actors, which makes for a much more cohesive movie. This is particularly important if you can't afford rehearsals. It's chaos, be kind. This Patton Oswalt quote is a credo that Chelsea stands behind when the going gets tough. Filmmaking is tough, and sets can be incredibly hectic, causing many people to lose their temper. As a director, it's not only your job to keep it together but to be kind, respectful, and generally fair to all of those around you. Doing so will enable you to be a positive outlier in an industry full of screamers. People want to work with people they like and respect, so the kind example you set can only help your career. Chelsea partially credits her career success to being consistently kind. ----- Produced by Simpler Media

This week's episode starts with Evan recapping ALL THAT WE DESTROY (3:48), the latest entry in Bumhouse's INTO THE DARK anthology series. There have been some highs and lows in the series, but this one is unfortunately one of the lowest. Then it's Dave with ECHO IN THE CANYON (13:41), a fun and informative look at the origins of the Laurel Canyon music scene of the 1960s with interviews conducted by Jakob Dylan. Then it's Kris with his experience marathoning WAR AND PEACE (19:54) at the Brattle where he says "big" and "massive" a lot. This week, the guys discuss the most popular episode in the history of Game of Thrones, Season 8, Episode 5 - The Bells. They discuss the fan backlash and the rapid descent of the Mad Queen, Daenerys Targaryen, the unceremonious death of Jamie and Cersei Lannister, and the not quite epic Clegane Bowl. But before they lift your spirits with the glowing review of The Bells, they will share equally glowing reviews of available offerings from the popular streaming providers, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO, and Netflix. Opie shares his feelings about the Ted Bundy biopic, “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.” Pete gives us the hard sell on “Action Point,” Kevin waxes poetic about “All That We Destroy,” and Alex revels in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s “Skyscraper.” Enjoy and follow us on social media Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/allpopnoculture/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/apncpodcast Twitter: @APNCPodcast Website: http://www.allpopnoculture.com Voicemail: (925) 400-8457

OK, maybe we don't so much talk about Witchboard as we sit around telling spooky ghost stories for forty minutes, but it's still a blast! Director Chelsea Stardust sits down with Clarke to talk about one of the most beloved sports movies of all time, FIELD OF DREAMS! The girls talk family, baseball, David Fincher and lots more -- don't miss Stardust's feature debut ALL THAT WE DESTROY on Hulu May 3.
Filmmaker Chelsea Stardust (SATANIC PANIC, ALL THAT WE DESTROY) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen to discuss her career journey from a 10 year old girl watching NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and falling in love with the horror genre... to attending film school... to an internship at producer/director Ivan Reitman's Montecito Picture Company... to assisting producer Jason Blum at Blumhouse... to making short films... to directing her first feature. With discussions about productions "flipping," what it means to shoot "inside the zone," the harsh reality of "Hollywood accounting," and sound advice from Dr. Arwen for aspiring filmmakers struggling to create in a location where resources simply don't exist... this candid conversation is yet another example of why THE MOVIE CRYPT is often referred to as "free audio film school" by industry insiders. There's murder at camp and a song in our hearts this week as we welcome acclaimed producer and filmmaker Chelsea Stardust, director of the hit underground musical SLASHED and the upcoming feature ALL THAT WE DESTROY. Among other things, Chelsea discusses witnessing the creation of horror history as an assistant to the founder of Blumhouse, the impact of the video store rental era on her tastes, and the moment of zen that occurred on her final day of shooting her debut feature film.
