As horror fans, it's hard enough trying to keep up with all the movies—let alone the memorabilia and collectibles—but just imagine having to live with one of us! In this episode, we've invited our wives onto the show to share their perspectives—not just on living with a slightly obsessive fan, but on how they've come to embrace the genre themselves. You'll hear how they became fans in their own right, and what kinds of films still give them the shivers. As you'll learn, being a horror fan has evolved into a shared experience—a communal passion that binds us together. While we might not all love the same titles, we all agree on one thing: this genre rules. We welcome Kat AuBuchon, Jenn Glonek, and Dawn Kitley as they join us to help Discover the Horror! It has become a tradition around Halloween that we find movies that deal with our ACTUAL fears. For this episode, Mike has revealed his own fear of getting old and the changes that come along with that. We start off with 2014's "Taking of Deborah Logan", which focuses on an elderly woman, fading into senility who allows her day-to-day activities to be filmed as part of a study of alzheimer's disease. Things quickly swing into the supernatural, growing steadily into pure horror. We follow that up with 2024's "The Substance" starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley as opposite sides of the same coin. Moore is an aging celebrity who gets a mysterious offer to try a process that will release a younger version of herself. She can't resist the temptation and we meet her younger version played by Qualley. This movie has a LOT to say about Hollywood, aging, society and so much more. Both of these films are worth watching, and force the viewer to consider their own twilight years. Please let us know what you thought of the show, and send us some suggestions for future episodes. Vi pratar också om: Exorcisten, Mats Strandberg, Hemmet, The Last Exorcism, The Taking of Deborah Logan, The Possession, Véronica, The Devil on Trial, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Hereditary, Linda Blair, Amityville II: The Possession, Scott Derrickson, Sinister, Anneliese Michael, Juryn: A Time to Kill, Suspiria, Tom Wilkinson, Grady Hendrix, My Best Friend's Exorcism, Jennifer Carpenter, Mike Flanagan, brottet mot reciprocitetsprincipen, Edvard Munch, Laura Linney och Freuds återigen användbara begrepp das Unheimliche. Hello! Our fearless leader, Chris, wasn't able to make it to the show tonight. Apparently he had better things to do like catalog his stamp collection, play with LEGOs, purify himself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka, attend an super exclusive ass party (his words, not ours), have a cake, kick off his DJ career, have an important foot bath, get a new pair of glasses, watch Donnie Darko, repair his extensive collection of dream catchers, smell his neighbor's various lizards, and grab some milk from the store. Bob and Rob took this opportunity to talk about what they've been watching outside of the podcast. Here's what we talked about: The Lost Weekend, Vampire's Kiss, Godzilla Minus One, The Taking of Deborah Logan, and Come to Daddy, and some other stuff. We'll resume with our regular show next week, when we review the strangest Bill Paxton movie we've ever seen, The Dark Backward. Thanks for listening! www.theworstmovieevermade.com
Chained (2012), Honeymoon (2014), and Relic (2020) With over 60 episodes so far in our podcast history, we realized that in all that we covered, we had never covered anything by a woman director. We knew we needed to change that. Going through the history of women directors, we realized that not only wasn't something new, but have been working in the industry since the beginning of film. And in the last two decades, have really started to show their stuff. So to help celebrate Women's History Month, we figured it was well past due that we tackle three films that were directed by women, once again, picking three random titles, but amazed to find just how similar they were to each other, not to mention being very effective in their craft, and storytelling. Movies mentioned in this episode: American Mary (2012), Army of Darkness (1992), The Babadook (2014), Chained (2012), Cockney vs Zombies (2012), Coffy (1973), Dead Hooker in a Trunk (2009), Fear Street: Part One 1994 (2021), Fear Street: Part Two 1978 (2021), Fear Street: Part Three 1666 (2021), Ganja and Hess (1973), Ginger Snaps (2000), Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers (1988), Honeymoon (2014), Humanoids from the Deep (1980), In My Skin (2002), Inside (2007), Invasion of the Body Snatcher (1956), Kids (1995), Look What Happened to Rosemary's Baby (1976), Maniac (1980), The Monster and the Girl (1914), Near Dark (1987), The Nightingale (2018), Pet Sematary (1989), The Pit and the Pendulum (1913), The Relic (1997), Relic (2020), A Serbian Film (2010), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Starry Eyes (2014), Slumber Party Massacre (1982), Street Trash (1987), The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014), Vampire (1915)

In this DEVILSHLY entertaining episode of Horror Dork, Mr. Sir, Antheny and Golden dive into the twisted world of Satan's Little Helper, a cult classic that marries the bizarre with the horrific, all under the guise of a Halloween adventure gone wrong. So, join the boys as they unwrap the enigma of a video game fantasy that warps into a nightmarish reality on a Halloween gone wrong. Released in a year when horror was exploring new territories—from the emergence of the found footage phenomena to the surge of J-horror remakes—Satan's Little Helper stands out for its unique blend of dark humor and horror. Why this gem didn't snag an Oscar remains one of cinema's greatest mysteries, or so the boys jest. Amid discussions of lizard monsters, the evolution of the horror genre, and a peculiar fascination with movie titles like The Taking of Deborah Logan, this episode promises to be a rollercoaster ride through the highs and lows of early 2000s horror cinema. Was it the mask with no mouth hole, the inexplicable magic of monster gloves, or the sheer absurdity of its plot that has divided horror fans for years? Horror Dork delves deep into the divisive nature of Satan's Little Helper, offering insights, laughs, and maybe a few bewildered shrugs along the way. Whether you're a fan of the film, a horror movie aficionado searching for hidden gems, or just here for the banter, this episode on Scream Box's staple of video store horror is not to be missed. Subscribe and listen to the show on Spotify and Apple Podcasts for your fix of horror, humor, and everything in-between. We're baaaaaaack!! The Cadaver Dogs return, joined by Allison Broder of the Who's There? Podcast, with a brand new episode on the horrors of aging and dementia. We'll first dive into the popular found footage film THE TAKING OF DEBORAH LOGAN (2014), directed by Adam Robitel. College student Mia is making a documentary on Alzheimer's, and Deborah Logan and her daughter invite Mia to feature them as her main subjects. But what happens when Deborah's condition takes a turn for the supernatural? On the other side of the world, three generations of women come together when the oldest's mind begins to unravel in the Australian movie RELIC (2020), directed by Natalie Erika James. This one gets a bit experimental, but we're unafraid to discuss its symbolism from mazes to mold to that weird alien-like creature. 0:09:07 - The Taking of Deborah Logan 0:37:48 - Relic 1:06:24 - Comparisons 1:17:56 - Bone Reviews Follow us at: instagram.com/cadaverdogspod twitter.com/cadaverdogspod . Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!!! This week we are ending our Horror/Mystery/Thriller theme with another found footage gem The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014).This film, despite having some unfair reviews, is a fresh take on the possession genre, filming in the style of a faux documentary about Alzheimers Disease, and then transitioning into something more sinister. The two main characters are extremely well cast and the quality of the movie is generally very high considering the dirt cheap budget this movie was made on. I gave this film a 7.5/10 for its effective story and an ending sequence that will stick with me forever. I highly recommend this if you like possession movies! For my full written review feel free to follow my instagram: https://www.instagram.com/film_haven_reviews/

This might be consecutive weeks with Pete, but more importantly, Andrew is back. He was absent last week for SOME reason (who's a sleepy boy), but he's back now, as you will see right out of the gate. This week kicks off quickly, after Andrew plugs some future shows, with his defense of Velma. Admittedly Kevin has not watched much of it, but the debate over what makes this show any kind of good is solid banter. Kevin Takes over in an attempt to be quick. He talks about the new release of the Dead Space remake. Short story short there, it's badass and everyone should play it. In what should have been an even shorter story, Kevin also brings up the new game, Hogwart's Legacy. This turns into a philosophical tangent that is definitely worth listening to. Finally they get into their Conjuring watchlist and discover Annabelle Creation and The Nun. Both of these films are decent horror films but are slowly slipping down the list in the franchise. They seem to suffer from the diminishing returns that all horror franchises have over time. They also discuss the film The Taking of Deborah Logan, a semi-found footage film that has some very problematic issues, but isn't the worst film ever either. Finally, we get to the part you are paying for (you are paying, right??) which is The Last of Us. Andrew gets a chance to throw in his 2 cents around episode 3 before everyone jumps into episodes 4 and 5. As one might guess, the guys love the show. That being said, Kevin does have one complaint to share about this show and game he loves. As always, thank you for watching. We had a lot of fun this week and we hope it's evident. Next week should bring a heavy discussion about the new Ant Man film, which should be fun. Don't forget to like and subscribe and set up notifications. If you see us on Twitter (@APNCPodcast) or Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/apncpodcast), please share so we can continue to grow. We've had some great viewership lately and we want to keep that going!
