Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: It is official: Critter Country is no more. Bayou Country is now the name of the area with Tiana's Bayou Adventure and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The display on the balcony above the new Louis' Critter Club has been redecorated to a dressing room with musical instruments and a fan mail box. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ Weeklyteers who will be traveling to Disneyland with kids in early 2025 should take advantage of a new ticket offer. Children ages 3 through 9 can get a ticket for as low as $50 for a one day, one park ticket for visits from January 7th through March 20th. This deal goes on sale October 22nd. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/50-kids-disneyland-ticket-savings-on-hotel-stays/ Some good news for those of you who didn't want Avatar in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area. Micechat reports that locations for the new Coco and Avatar projects have been in flux. After studying the crowd flow on Pixar Pier, there may not be enough room for an extended queue where the planned Coco attraction would be located. It was suggested to move the Coco attraction to Hollywood Land, which would allow for Monsters, Inc. to be saved as Coco would move into the Hollywood and Dine location. This leaves the Avatar project without a home for now. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ The Jungle Cruise has returned from it's two week refurbishment. We had hoped that the tiger's stone surroundings would have returned, but they have not. However, both African bull elephants are back, the piranhas are functional again, and overall looks in good shape. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ The lounge in the Disneyland Hotel's Fantasyland Tower has a new name! The Broken Spell Lounge is located next to Goofy's Kitchen and has a darker vibe, with forest accents and dark colors. Disney did not announce the name change, or put up a new sign, but they did update the navigational signage around the hotel. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/10/01/did-disney-just-quietly-change-a-restaurant-name/ While you are stopping into the Market House on Main Street for a morning beverage, be sure to pick up the newest sweet creation. The S'mores Cake Donut has arrived and is made of a graham cracker cake donut, chocolate ganache, and topped with a toasted marshmallow. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ A new Disney Parks cookbook has gone on sale, and to celebrate, Disney has posted the recipe for the Celebration Chocolate Fudge Brownies. These brownies were available at the 2023 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival. This recipe has just a few ingredients and looks fun for the whole family to create and eat! – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disney-eats-celebration-chocolate-fudge-brownie-recipe/ For the select few who will be taking a VIP tour, there are some new exclusive items. A new line of VIP tour merchandise featuring the iconic plaid design is available to guests taking a VIP tour. The new items can only be purchased the day of the tour and are limited to one of each item per guest. There is a spirit jersey, pin and keychain set, lanyard, ornament, Loungefly mini backpack, and, of course, an ear headband. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/ When the holidays arrive at the resort, a popular tradition will return to Downtown Disney. The Holiday Gingerbread Workshop has guests of all ages build and decorate a gingerbread house at the Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio. The event is $35 per person and includes unlimited hot chocolate, one assorted mini dessert plate, and a digital photo with Santa. The gingerbread house is an additional $56 per house, with one house per group required, which includes a bag of assorted candies and icing for decorating, plus a limited edition 2024 Jazz Kitchen ornament. The event takes place on December 8th, 14th, and 15th from 12 to 2pm. Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. Check out all of our current partners and exclusive discounts at https://www.dlweekly.net/promos. News: We are recording a day earlier than usual this week, so it is Haunted Mansion Holiday reopening day! The Haunted Mansion has reopened with a virtual queue only option with the majority of the queue still under construction. Guests will need to go into the Disneyland App at 7am or 12pm to try and snag a spot in the virtual queue. For the 7am slot, you do not need to be in the park, but you do need to have scanned into either park before securing a spot for the noon opportunity. – https://www.micechat.com/365986-disneyland-shocker-haunted-mansion-expansions/ Guests that were able to get a virtual queue for the attraction and post video and photos online allowed us to see what has been updated and changed. The exterior queue feels very much like the queue previously, but the walkway is now wide enough for three lines; one for standby, one for Lightning Lane, and one for ADA exit. The hearse has been moved closer to the entrance, and the detail on the path is excellent. The Lightning Lane scan points are now closer to the entrance to the mansion itself. – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JWEG3BJyuU Haunted Mansion Holiday opening is signaling the approaching Halloween season! Magic Keyholders had the opportunity to purchase some of the new merchandise for the holiday starting July 27th at World of Disney. Some of the items included a Spirit Jersey with a tie dye design, a candy corn inspired Loungefly bag, a spooky purple tee, candy corn inspired ears, and more! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/07/24/exclusive-new-souvenir-perk-announced-for-annual-passholders-in-disneyland/ In a stunning move, Disney California Adventure is now home to Deadpool and Wolverine. In the movies, Deadpool is a hard R-rated character, but is family friendly in the park. Together with Wolverine, the “Story Time with Deadpool” show is very fun to watch and is held in the courtyard of the Hyperion, between Guardians and the Hyperion. Deadpool has also shown up in the “Awesome Dance Off,” and “Avengers Assemble” shows in Avengers Campus. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/07/27/i-am-shocked-and-grateful-that-disney-let-these-2-characters-into-a-park/ More Encanto is coming to the resort, according to a casting call online. There is already a Mirabel meet and greet, but this call is looking for a Mirabel who can sing! It is listed as a limited-time offering, so it could be for the holidays, or a limited-time show, or something else. However, any Encanto in the park is better than no Encanto! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/07/26/we-found-a-clue-that-a-new-encanto-show-is-coming-to-a-disney-park/ In a bit of possible good news for Cast Members, Disney and the UFCW 324 union have reached an agreement. No details have come out and the official vote to accept the agreement takes place on July 29 (the day we recorded this episode) to accept the terms. Generally, it appears that the proposed 3-year contract contains significant wage increases for all cast members, seniority increases, and additional premiums, as well as the retention of premiums. There are also possible attendance policy changes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/07/24/unions-representing-14000-cast-members-reach-deal-with-disney/ In some parks-adjacent news, Hocus Pocus fans have a unique opportunity in Salem, Massachusetts. On September 20th fans can enter the Old Town Hall for an exclusive “I Put a Spell on You Masquerade.” The party will feature a DJ dance party, bars, souvenir gift bags, and, of course, live performances by the Sanderson Sisters! A limited number of early bird tickets are on sale at the link in our show notes starting at $150, plus fees for general admission and $215, plus fees for VIP admission which includes an autographed copy of the book “Hocus Pocus in Focus”, a photo op with the Sanderson Sisters, and more. – https://www.micechat.com/392749-hocus-pocus-masquerade-party/ SnackChat Tiana's Palace – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disneyland/tianas-palace/menus Discussion Topic: Casey Robin – https://www.caseyrobin.com/ Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/caseyrobin/ Wildermage Games – https://www.wildermagegames.com/

It's Comic-Con time! This is our first of two shows from San Diego for SDCC 2023 and we're ready to share our early impressions of the con. What's been packed? What seems less crowded? Where is the excitement? We cover all of that to start things off. Then, it's interview time! We talk to artist Lee Bermejo about his amazing new story, A Vicious Circle, from Boom! Studios! He'll talk about working with a writer who is also a screenwriter, how he worked with different art styles in the book, give you great character breakdowns and much more. Plus, we'll talk about dinosaurs! GET THE FIRST TWO ISSUES OF A VICIOUS CIRCLE FROM BOOM! STUDIOS AT YOUR LOCAL COMIC BOOK SHOPS AND DIGITAL RETAILERS! You know we also made a stop off at Funkoville, right? We ran into Liz DeSilva and Derrick Baca from Loungefly, so we talked to them about some of the great exclusives that they have this year. Plus, maybe a tease at what's coming next? Then, it was off to Mondo to talk to Peter Santa Maria and Hector Arce about those GREAT 1:6 scale figures, the massive posters they have this year and a lot more collectibles. STOP BY FUNKOVILLE AT COMIC-CON TO SEE WHAT'S NEW AND EXCLUSIVE! We also had to stop by The Loyal Subjects (Booth 2544) to see all of their great new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles exclusives. While we were there, we got to chat with TMNT artist Mateus Santolouco, who's work inspired this years figures. He'll talk about some of the detail work and excitement that went into making these Turtles and why the fans should be hyped for it. Stop by and take a look for yourself! You can also hear about some of the great experiences and activations we were a part of this year. Find out what we thought of The Lodge from Paramount+, The Immortal Universe Experience from AMC, Hulu's 2nd Dimension Animayhem experience, Super7's Cobra Operations Center, The Lanford Days Roseanne experience and so much more. Let's just say there's plenty to do outside of the convention floor! There wasn't a ton of nerd news, but we did manage to find out what Project K is! We also look at a big comic crossover coming from DC and Legendary, Crunchyroll making some big anime announcements that should make One Piece fans happy and some big TMNT news from Nickelodeon. This past weekend, it reached $30 per guest. This would add $120 per day for a family of 4. Individual Lightning Lane passes also saw the highest prices yet with Rise of the Resistance going for $25 per guest, and Radiator Springs Racers going for $20 per guest. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/10/22/genie-reaches-highest-price-yet-in-disneyland/ Last week, we talked about a lot of the price increases around the resort on a number of things. Even more increases have come to the resort in a lot of categories. Adult Spirit Jersey's have gone up to $79.99, up from $69.99, kid Spirit Jerseys have gone up from $49.99 to $54.99. September 1st will be the last day to catch both of these classic entertainment options. World of Color and Fantasmic! will continue on their regular schedules. Halloween Time starts at the resort September 2nd, so this is making way for the Halloween Screams fireworks. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/07/catch-disneyland-forever-fireworks-main-street-electrical-parade-before-their-limited-time-runs-end-sept-1/ Ticket prices could be going up soon for Disneyland, but not because of Disney. A proposed ordinance by the Anaheim City Council would add a 2% admissions tax to all tickets sold to any venue that holds 15,000 or more people. This would add $2 to $4 to each ticket for a one-day, one-park ticket, depending on the season. If approved by the council, it would be on the ballot for voters in November. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/07/15/why-your-disneyland-ticket-could-cost-more-soon/ On Disneyland's 67th birthday, the Red Car Trolley returned to Buena Vista Street! Shortly after it opened, it broke down for part of the day, before returning to service later in the day. There is only one of the trolleys running for now, the second trolley is not ready for use at this time. The Red Car Trolley will be brought on stage before park opening and will make trips back and fourth to Hollywoodland, never entering Avengers Campus or going backstage when the park is open. – https://www.micechat.com/327280-disneyland-update-67-years-of-magic-looking-forward-and-crossing-fingers/ There is a disturbance in the timeline in Star Wars Galaxies Edge. For the first time since the land opened, two different stories with two different time frames will be happening at once. Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, along with Grogu and the Mandalorian are now seen walking around the land, with characters from the sequel trilogy also present. How does Disney deal with this time bending? Imagineering is using “story bubbles.” Basically, as long as the stories unfold to guests and don't interact with each other, it is good. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/07/13/how-disneyland-keeps-boba-fett-from-bumping-into-kylo-ren-in-galaxys-edge-and-why-it-matters/ The Downtown Disney Silletas have a new addition that helps provide some context! New signage and a QR code at each of the displays now inform guests what the display is and what it represents. Previously, it was unclear what some of the displays were about. – https://www.micechat.com/327280-disneyland-update-67-years-of-magic-looking-forward-and-crossing-fingers/ Dole Whip fans mark your calendars! July 21st is Dole Whip Day! Dole Whips are available all around the world at Disney parks and resorts. Aulani, Disney Cruise Line, and Domestic Disney parks on both coasts are great locations to get the frosty treat. The Dole Whip debuted at the Magic Kingdom in Florida back in 1984. The Disney Parks blog has a recipe for guests to create the iconic treat at home. Visit the link in the show notes to make one at home! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/07/snack-and-listen-celebrate-dole-whip-day-with-recipe-ukulele-styled-disney-music/ Two iconic attractions are getting some new merchandise. A new pair of Haunted Mansion ears, featuring a bow with the purple wallpaper print, a black top hat with HM monogramed on the side, and the striped pattern from the cast member costumes on the ears, with some neon green bats. The Haunted Mansion is embroidered on the band on one side. The wars are on sale at the Pieces of Eight shop for $29.99. Not to be outdone, a new Loungefly backpack with Pirates of the Caribbean is also for sale. The backpack is white leather, featuring the iconic jail cell scene with the pirates attempting to get the keys from the dog. Guests can get one of these for $75. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/07/16/wait-until-you-see-disneys-new-haunted-mansion-ears/ Some Weeklyteers listening might have wondered what it would be like to have a corn dog for breakfast. Wonder no more! The breakfast corn dog is available for $9.29 at Corn Dog Castle in Disney California Adventure. It is a breakfast sausage and egg corn dog, topped with powdered sugar and raspberry jelly, and is served with a Mandarin orange, Cuties, or a small bag of chips. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/07/review-start-your-day-off-right-with-a-breakfast-corn-dog-at-disney-california-adventure/ The Disney Food Blog wanted everyone making plans to visit Disneyland, or anywhere in Southern California years in advance to take some information into account before booking anything.
