Embark on a transformative journey with the dynamic Jason Woho, the young self-made multimillionaire who scaled a staggering 1,320 businesses by the age of 26. Through his inspiring ascent from the world of Pokémon cards and restaurant gigs to the heights of online marketing, Jason shares the raw truths about creating compelling offers, leveraging paid advertising, and the relentless tracking of KPIs. His story is a powerful narrative, not just of financial success, but of authentic personal growth, and the vital lessons learned from the earliest days of entrepreneurship.Peeling back the curtain, we explore the unglamorous side of being your own boss, where the title of 'entrepreneur' comes with a weighty cost. Jason and I discuss the often unseen emotional toil and the exhaustive nature of start-up life, from dealing with customer service nightmares to the minutiae of payroll. This episode is a must-listen for anyone captivated by the allure of entrepreneurship, offering a realistic glimpse into the stamina and mental fortitude required to truly thrive in this relentless pursuit. Finally, our conversation takes a deep dive into the societal obsession with work and play, examining why we idolize some professions while undervaluing others, such as the vital role of educators. We tackle tough questions on politics, personal responsibility, and financial literacy that underscore the importance of taking charge of one's destiny. Jason's insights provide an invaluable roadmap for navigating the complex landscape of business growth and personal success, making this an episode overflowing with actionable wisdom for the ambitious listener.Join the What if it Did Work movement on FacebookGet the Book!www.omarmedrano.comwww.calendly.com/omarmedrano/15min
Co-hosts Connor Earegood and Sam Stockton look ahead to a massive series between Michigan and Michigan State this weekend, with a different feeling around the rivalry than there has been in some time. Then, they deconstruct a potentially massive tweet from UM regent Jordan Acker about women's hockey at Michigan. Finally, they close the show by discussing trust, Alex Lyon, Andrew Copp, and other sources of good feeling the Red Wings have enjoyed during a 6-0-1 start to the calendar year.

Woho! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Quinn was kind enough this week to join me for a ramble on one of my favorite films, THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE (1962).From IMDb: An American POW in the Korean War is brainwashed as an unwitting assassin for an international Communist conspiracy.Does it all fit together? Not at all, but I do so love it so! Between the insane fight scene and the insane train scene, we are flummoxed, bewildered, enchanted, and sold on this Cold War thriller. Thanks a lot to filmsite.org for the plot synopsis.Coming up on the regular show, Mac & I will be discussing animated horror films, We will be looking at MAD GOD from the US and GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES from Japan. WoHos!This week we looked at two portraits of obsession: Annie Wilkes from MISERY and I Geum-ja from Lady Vengeance. There are a couple of similarities between these two films I never noticed until now. The celebrity that springs up around each woman is one and the other one...has to do with feet.Contents of the Content:Mom & Mac Chat: Mac's playing Slime Rancher to mitigate late summer slog, Entry-level cats vs. Mac's cat, Mom's walking with Dennis Lehane, we wonder who will stop Ryan Murphy? This is part two of our Alien Invasion! Episodes. Part One (Episode 81) covered INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, from 1956 & 1978.BEFORE WE VANISH is a 2017 Science Fiction/Horror film from Kiyoshi Kurosawa. It involves three aliens who are on a reconnaissance mission to steal "conceptions" from humans ahead of a planned invasion and annhiliation mission. No Mom & Mac chat for this one, but we do get into a discussion of love and TikTok.Please tell a friend or two about us and come back for Episode 83, when we cover Coming of Age Horror films with RAW from France and HELLBENDER from the US. WoHos! This is part I of our Alien Invasion show. This week we examine the 1956 & 1978 versions of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS.As I state in the intro, this one is real swear-y for some reason. If that bothers you, I apologize and won't feel sad if you have to skip this one.Apologies to Veronica Cartwright, whom I call Nancy at least once.Next week we hope you'll tune back in for our part II where we discuss Kiyoshi Kurosawa's BEFORE WE VANISH.
WoHos!Mac is moving this weekend, so we are pushing our Alien Invasion movies to next week. This time in the WORLD OF FOUNDATIONAL HORROR™ series, I am looking at two insane killers--John from HATCHET FOR THE HONEYMOON and Freddie from THE COLLECTOR.HATCHET FOR THE HONEYMOON was a Spanish/Italian collabo that is short on plot and character but long on style and I think is a whole lot of fun.THE COLLECTOR is an adaptation of John Fowles's novel and features two really strong performances in Terence Stamp and Samantha Eggars. I'm back in school and would like to do at least one of these episodes a month. If you have any suggestions, as ever, please get in touch! I am also working to line up guests for our It Means the World of Horror to Me™ series. WoHo's!It's a special IT Means the World of Horror to Me episode!Original Friend of the ShowTM, Quinn was nice enough to come by with one of her favorite horror films: ROSEMARY'S BABY from 1968. We spoil the hell out of it, as per, so if you don't want it spoiled, have a watch or rewatch before you listen. We are both such fans of the cinematography, the performances, the suspense and creep factors built on a toxic marriage, and the already tenuous proposition of pregnancy! What say you, is pregnancy magical or is it horrifying? Some other topics covered: The Pollening that occurs this time of year in NC, Sidney Blackmer's connection to our home state, smoking on the Dick Cavett show, dream sequences, ovulation cycles, the abandonment of the Hays Code, and who is the obvious winner of the YOU FOOL award for ROSEMARY's BABY.Coming up next on the main is Creepy Kid films. We will cover THE ORPHAN from the US and GOODNIGHT, MOMMY, which I almost could not finish the first time I watched it!Please get in touch and remember:We love you andDON'T go into the basement!--Mom (AKA Christina)

After that, Mac's choice is Animal Attack Films and we will be reunited with our true love (?) WoHo's!Mac's genre pick this week was zombies and we watched two zombie comedies: ONE CUT OF THE DEAD from Japan & SHAUN OF THE DEAD from the UK.Zombies in both films function as a wake up call to our main characters and both films are examples of labors of love. Check them out or check them out again! We were having so much fun discussing SHAUN OF THE DEAD that we forgot to rate it, but I am going ot go out on a limb here and say that Mac would give it 5/5 cricket bats. That makes two 5/5ers this show. You're welcome!A very happy 52nd birthday to "friend of the show" Simon Pegg.We have two minis coming up which will serve as the meat in the podcast mains sandwich. That metaphor needs work. What I mean is, before the next main, which will be out in two weeks, Mom and Mac will review David Cronenberg's sophomore effor, RABID and Mom is going solo to cover Mario Bava's SHOCK. This is Mom's pet project to fill in her own gaps in horror knowledge and to, with hope, connect to some academic types to discuss foundational horror. If you are one such type, or you would like to recommend someone, please get in touch! On the next main, Mom is highlighting Haunted Houses and we will review BEETLEJUICE from the US and THE HOUSE AT THE END OF TIME (2013) from Venezuela. Thanks so much for all your support, WoHos!We love you.DON'T go into the baesment.--Mom Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/xafupi)

Hi, there, WoHos!!This week we watched the 1997 Satoshi Kon psychological thriller, PERFECT BLUE and the 2010 Darren Aronofsky knock off, BLACK SWAN.Both films concern a young artist who has a psychological break as she is trying to navigate the professional and creative pressures she faces. We thought PERFECT BLUE had a clearer vision than BLACK SWAN, but at least one of us would watch BLACK SWAN again.Hey. You know how podcasters often ask for ratings, subscriptions and reviews? We don't typically do that, but we are trying to grow WoHo nation, so to that end I have created a fill-in-the-blanks review form at the bottom. WoHo's!This week Mac and I chatted about the 1977 original Italian witch flick, SUSPIRIA and the 2018 American remake.Just how much does Mom dislike Dakota Johnson? Just how much did Mac dislike Tilda Swinton in all her prostheses? But we did have love for the 1977 original and not just because it was a full hour shorter, though that didn't hurt!Content Note: In the Mom and Mac chat we discuss: job dissatisfaction, fears over COVID, Mom's Mom's hospitalization, being sick, but not with COVID, a solicitation from an outfit called podstatus.com and being grateful. In the main discussion we cover: the kills, why remake a film if you are going to undo the genius of the original, why cast Dakota Johnson (Mom really doen't like Dakota Johnson), sloppy and harmful anaolgies, indulgent directors and actors and shortcuts that make us mad. In the special interview, Mac, Quinn and I spoke with Karen Rontowski about ghosts, curses, attachments, demons and haunted places.Did we get it right? We'd love to hear what you think!worldofhorror96@gmail.comworldofhorrorpodcast on InstagramSorry about the dropouts at Daniel's death! Please keep listening. In two weeks we are back discussing two of Mom's faves: MEMORIES OF MURDER (Streaming for free in the US on Hulu and for rent on YouTube, Prime and Apple TV) and ROBOCOP (1987), which is streaming in the US on Pluto and YouTube for free and for rent on Prime and Apple TV.WoHos, we love you. Hey listeners! Today we are talking mission, content, and feedback. It has been more than a year since we started our adventure —Woho!. We couldn't be more proud of what we have accomplished so far. Even though the journey has been challenging, we have learned a lot about the process of content creation. More importantly, we have learned more about who we are, our values, and what we have to offer. We always want to make sure that the content we produce aligns with our vision. That same vision we had when we decided to take on this challenge of becoming content creators and helping others find their identity, get empowered, and have an impact. Welcome, WoHo's! It's Quinntage #1: A segment where Quinn comes by and classes up the joint and lends her experience with older/vintage horror films to the films Mac and I yammer on about in the main episodes. I hope you enjoy and if you have some thoughts, please get in touch on Instagram, Twitter or email (worldofhorror96@gmail.com)Next week Mac and I are back with Episode 1 of Season 2. We'll be talking about the two versions of Funny Games. Can't wait to see you then!!A few notes:Naomi Watts was photographed as Marnie for a 2013 Vanity Fair spread on Hitchcock Films.Omphalophobia is the fear of belly buttons. Hitchcock's The Bomb Under the Table Analogy talks about the difference between surprise and suspense:“Four people are sitting around a table, talking about baseball or whatever you’d like. Five minutes of it. Very dull. Suddenly a bomb goes off. Blows the people to smithereens. What does the audience have? Ten seconds of shock. Now, take the same scene and tell the audience there is a bomb under that table and [it] will go off in five minutes. Well, the whole emotion of the audience is totally different, because you’ve given them that information.”Love you, mean it.
